ASHER

Sophia took my hand, and I encircled my fingers around hers. I couldn't feel her skin through the fabric of her gloves, yet the heat that emanated from her body threatened to suck me in. She was burning hot - metaphorically.

Heavens! She was beautiful. Even as everyone else made way for us at the centre of the dance floor, and I led her to the centre, underneath the bold neon blue light, my heart pounded against my chest.

Was I really going to hold her tonight? Pressed against my chest with my hand encircling her waist?

There was no one else but us, no other sound, but the rhythm of our heartbeats beating in synchrony. As our gazes locked underneath the electric blue lights, jolts of current coursed through my veins. Her beautiful brown eyes blinked, and dark lashes fluttered. She threw her head back in a breathless laugh. She must have seen something in the crowd, but all I could see was her.

She did a short spin in her beautiful mini dress while I held her right hand abov

SOPHIA "Fuck you!" I spat out, and turned away from him as fast as I could in order to keep whatever remained of my dignity. There was no way I could let him catch me shedding tears. He had seen that more times than he could count. I was not going to put my pride on the line to soothe his senseless ego again. As I stormed out of his presence, there was only one question that lingered in my mind. Why? Why would he not just accept that he was wrong? Everything would have solved itself if he just admitted his mistake. "OH, I'M VERY SORRY I SCARED YOU INTO RUNNING AWAY. WHEN I WROTE THAT LETTER, I HAD JUST BEEN CROWNED ALPHA KING AFTER MY FATHER. WE KNOW HOW MUCH THE COURT FROWNS AGAINST SCANDAL. ADELINE WAS ALREADY MY LUNA. IF IT HAD COME TO LIGHT, I WOULD HAVE LOST EVERYTHING, I DIDN'T HAVE A CHOICE." Would have made me trust him. I would have seen the honesty and sincerity he tried to wear on his face like a fucking mask, and I would have started making active steps to try to fo

ASHER Never, not in all my thirty years on Earth had I been hit by a woman. At that moment, the world around me stopped. I was both shocked, confused, and angry. However, when I looked up to see the pain in her eyes, all those emotions dwindled and set the pace for one thing and one thing only; guilt. Sophia was in so much pain, and it was all because of me. As she stared at me, panting heavily, I reached for the hand she had used to slap me, and I held the wrist with mine. Her eyes widened in shock. I was certain she had been expecting some kind of outburst. Her lips quivered as tears poured from her eyes. Seeing her in pain made me so mad at myself. I deserved that slap and many more, and I was going to allow her to hit me as many times as she deemed necessary. "What…" She paused to sniff. "What are you doing?" Her shaky tone echoed in my ears, causing my heart to squeeze in my chest. "It is not enough." I mumbled, eliciting a frown from her. "What are you talking about?" "

SOPHIA I heaved a sigh of relief as I brushed my right shoulder against his, and walked away from his presence, leaving him alone in the dark garden. I couldn't say I was grateful because I was finally away from him, but I was happy because I had finally said all the things I wished I could say, but couldn't. All the words that had previously lingered in my heart were all gone, from my lips to his ears, and it was his turn to figure out what he wanted to do with it. I found Emily and her husband beside one of the numerous lemonade fountains and managed to squeeze my way to where they were. I tapped Emily's shoulder and watched as she turned sharply in my direction. "Sophia? Are you okay, dear? With the way you ran off…" She placed both hands on my shoulders and I smiled. "I am doing fine, Emily. You really do not have to worry about me. I was just carried away by emotions at that point, that's all." "Oh." She mouthed, dropping her hands from my shoulder. "Well, that's okay then

SOPHIA "Hey boys!" I called out to them. At the sound of my voice, all three of them turned to me simultaneously, and ran with their heels touching their backs as they rushed to meet me. "Mummy!" They chorused and threw their arms around me with so much force that sent me to the ground. Once I fell on the grass, they gathered around me and laughed, poking me in places that tickled. I tried to wave them off as I laughed, but the three of them were too much for me to take on at a time. They giggled whenever I caught one of them, and their happy sounds filled me with so much joy, I had almost forgotten how cruel the world could get. "Okay, okay! You guys win! I give up! I give up!" I cried out, amidst my stomach wrenching laughter. They threw their hands up in the air in victory, and jumped off me at the same time. "Did you see that, Uncle Gaston? Mummy gave up and we won!" David screamed with joy, forcing me to laugh as I struggled to stand up. Gaston offered me a hand up, apologiz

ASHER After the events of the sexy in the sea party last night, I had thought I would at least have my morning to myself to recuperate and take me mind off a lot of things, also to find a way forward because it was very obvious from everything Sophia had said to my face, that I needed one, and I needed it immediately. Unfortunately, as the universe would have it - since it had always been intent on working against me - my mother had other plans. She called me that morning and requested that I join her for breakfast, my cousin was to be there too. I let out a disgruntled sigh after the phone call that morning, knowing fully well that she was about to complain about the same things again. And boy, I was right! As I slurped another fork full of lasagna, she continued to speak to Ivan about something concerning me. "I have tried to tell him, over and over again, but he wouldn't listen. There is nothing I haven't said to Asher to make sure he finds someone, a wife, whom he can rule

*AN HOUR EARLIER* SOPHIA I stepped into the guestroom, weary from a long day at the hospital. My legs were killing me, and I could not wait to soak them in warm water while listening to everything my sons had to say about their day. I also needed to meet Asher about leaving. After Adelin's threat, I decided it was best for us to leave tomorrow evening. We will return to Crescent Heart, and no one will have to worry about us ever again. As I closed the door behind me, the familiar scent of the place, a mixture of polished wood and comforting warmth, welcomed me. But something felt off.My boys were not inside. I had earlier attributed the silence to their being asleep, but they were not on the bed either. I had not also seen them when I came in earlier, so where could they be? I looked down at the tiled ground, and a shiver coursed through my spine. I noticed the toys scattered across the room, untouched and abandoned. The coldness in the air told me they had not been in the ro

  • Once Rejected, Now Desired    FIFTY SIX| The scary truth

ASHER The weight of the night's events lingered in my bones as I awoke to a new day. The emptiness of the Palace felt suffocating, each room echoing with the absence of the children I had come to love so much. She cried all through the night with her face buried in my chest. I wouldn't be lying if I said I felt her pain because I did. Even though the boys weren't mine, their absence left me with a sense of emptiness, as though something within me was missing. The sound of her sobs from the previous night still resonated in my ears, haunting me with a sense of responsibility. She had cried in my arms, hit me, screamed at Gaston, hurled curses at him, and he took it all in good faith. I immediately ordered Gaston to summon every senior member of the intelligence department of the pack. After which, I escorted Sophia back to her room and promised her that I would do everything in my power to bring her sons back to her.David, Daniel, and Darwin had a special place in my heart, too,

SOPHIA I couldn't. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't stop thinking about it. I couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, couldn't stop crying. Every single minute I found myself asking what was happening to my boys. Where were they? Were they in trouble - of course they were! Had they had anything to eat? Hell! Was Danny having another asthma attack? By the goddess. They must have been so scared, terrified to their fucking bones. My boys had never had to be anywhere without me, I was all they had. For the first time since I arrived, the Queen was remotely nice to me. She tried to get me to eat something, even asked that my favorite pasta be made. "How can I eat anything?" I asked her while I paced about my room with tears in my eyes. My voice was croaked from all the screaming I had done. "How can I eat when I do not even know if my boys have had water?! I don't even know what is happening to them, or if they are alive!" The thought alone broke me to more pieces than I could count

  • Once Rejected, Now Desired    Dearest gentle reader,

This has been an emotional roller coaster for me. This story began in January, and since then, a lot of things have happened. I’ve been sick, I’ve had countless visits to the hospital, gotten an operation, entered final year in medical school, a lot of things actually. And finally, after nine months, I get to say goodbye to the beautiful Morris family, and everyone involved in their story. It wasn’t easy, but you all stood by me. I hope you enjoyed this story as much I almost enjoyed writing it. And I hope to see you again in my next project coming in OCTOBER, and my debut billionaire romance novel. Thank you all. Xoxo, Bella Hemsworth.

  • Once Rejected, Now Desired    Epilogue

SEVEN MONTHS LATER AUTHOR The sound of the door closing had everyone up on their feet. Daniel, Darwin, Lillie who had been fidgeting on her seat, Queen Sophia, even little Emilia. The doctor blinked twice, fairly surprised by how fast they had all stood. All the set of eyes that peered at her caused her to clear her throat. She couldn’t blame them for being anxious. Princess Darla had been in the labor room for over eight hours. “How’s everything? How’s she? How’s…?” Lillie moved to the front, and the doctor smiled at her. “Everything is fine, your highness. Princess Darla has just delivered two beautiful and handsome children.” Silence hung in the air for three brief seconds. Yes. The doctor had counted. “Does this mean…?” Lillie asked with wide eyes. “Yes.” The tall lady replied. “Twins.” “Oh my God!” Lillie screamed, tears in her eyes as she watched everyone else rush into the room. They were supposed to have gone in one by one, but even the doctor knew better than to tr

Lillie’s POV *THREE WEEKS LATER* I stood outside Darla’s room, taking a deep breath before knocking softly. No response, but I knew she was in there. I could hear her crying from where I stood. Even her large twin doors had done nothing to mask the sound of her sorry. I turned mine into a ball in my throat and swallowed hard to push it down to my stomach. It couldn’t come out, not today. I reached for her door knob, opened the door and found her sitting on the edge of her bed, her face pale, her eyes swollen from crying. The black dress Darwin had gotten for her lay untouched in a rumpled mess beside her."Darla, you need to get ready," I said gently, stepping inside. "It’s time."She shook her head, her hands trembling as they gripped the sheets. "I can’t," she whispered. "If I get dressed… if I go downstairs… it means he’s really gone. That Logan is really gone, and I’ll never see him again. The love of my life, Lillie… the father of my child." Her voice cracked, her should

David’s POV Blood. All over the room. Dripping from every wound in my body. I didn’t need to see my reflection in the mirror to know I had been beaten up real good. Yet, when I saw it, a bitter chuckle forced its way out of my throat. I had managed to kill them all even in my state. The fuckers must have known they wouldn’t be able to stand a chance, hence why they had to poison me. In those last minutes of my life, the faces of my brothers flashed in my mind as I sat on my bed. My brothers, my sisters, my darling mother who had seen so much loss in her time. I never thought I’d see them again. I thought that, by the time they reached the hospital, I’d be long gone. When the rogues came, I was sure it was over. They had knives, weapons—I barely had the strength to lift my arms, but something inside me, something primal, wouldn’t let me give up. Not yet. Not before seeing my family one last time. If they could get to me, that is. There was no guarantee they had been able to make it

Darwin’s POV Heavy is the head that wears the crown, but there wasn’t a crown on my head. However, I knew I had stepped into David’s shoes the moment he was hospitalized. It suddenly made sense why he had been so stoic and protective of everyone. For the first time in a long time, I could feel what he felt. The weight of the world resting on my shoulders. My world, and that of Dark Moon at large. Even as I ripped Jace’s head from his neck, the reality of what had just happened sank deeper as I looked at him—the cousin who once laughed with us as children, now reduced to this: A lifeless head in my hands. Who would have thought I would be the one to end his life? Who would have thought that he’ll be the one to turn our lives around? To hurt my brothers, to betray the only family he could call his? His eyes, once filled with arrogance and ambition, were now vacant, staring up at the sky even in his death. But now, he would be unable to see any fucking thing. His life had ended.

Darwin: The battle was far more brutal than expected. Dead bodies lay across the ground, a mix of our own people, rogues and rebel soldiers. Daniel and I were yet to turn as we were preserving our energy to fight our common enemy. A wolf lunged at me and I caught it by its collar and snapped its next in one move. It dropped to the ground, slowly shifting back to its human form as it took its last breath. Another one came and I sank my claws into it, twisting and tearing its guts out so it lay on the floor in a disgusting pile. I only one had one intention as I made my way towards the Palace. And that was to make sure Lillie and my family members were safe. After I'd confirmed that they were, I would return here and find Jace. The hall was empty. Void of anyone, so I knew they had all been carted away to safety to the Palace's secret basement. I heard a familar sob and hurried towards the corner leading to the underground building. Lillie was crouched beside Logan w

  • Once Rejected, Now Desired    Book 2| Chapter 101

Lillie's POV: Tonight was a wedding and the whole Palace was bright with the hustle and bustle of activities. A decorating team had been employed to decorate the area and it had gone on for about two days. Tonight, they were finishing up the rest of the decorations as guests began to arrive. I heard the Queen's voice from where I stood in Darla's room. She was yelling at the decorating team for their slow pace and we all laughed when she asked one of the ladies to get out of her sight. "It's not mother's wedding and yet, she yells like it's hers." Emilia said from where she stood, our beautiful flower girl, getting dressed by some of the maids. Darla chuckled from where she sat in front of her vanity table. "Mother can be a control freak at times. Don't tell her I said this, or she's going to serve my body to the guests." Emilia grinned in mischief and I instantly knew she was going to use emotional blackmail now that she had power over Darla. "Wh

Lillie's POV: Things were going smoothly. More than I expected. I banished the thoughts of something ruining the good time everyone was having and decided to, for once in my life, be happy that things were going the way I wanted. Queen Sofia was forced to interceed on Logan's behalf and the embargo of being a slave was taken off him. Darla made it a point of duty to remind her every waking moment of the day until the Queen decided to have rites held on Logan's behalf. And now, they were seen always having little cute moments around the palace. Logan and Darla were always found in each other's arm and I always saw the look on the Queen's face. Even after taking the banishment off Logan's head, she still wasn't in approval of their relationship. But as time went on, she became busy with other things and paid them no heed until I found her one day, smiling at Darla and Logan as they sat at the porch. Darla had her head on Logan's lap as he read her a book. It was such a

Lillie's POV: I paced from one end of the room to the other, trying to come up with words to say to my brother. Logan stood, head bowed low, at the other end of the room. I could tell he was feeling extremely bad, but not guilty. He finally stood tall, steeling his expression as he stared right at me. "What are you going to do? Judge me for following my heart? Call that a mistake also?" I honestly had nothing to say to him if I was being honest. I was just surprised that Logan and Darla were ever a thing. I wasn't angry or judgemental. I just didn't like how it had been hidden from me. Did Logan not trust me? Or hadn't I been a good enough elder sister for him to talk to? These were the thoughts that plagued my mind. I turned to him and sighed. "When did you start Dating Darla?" "We're not... dating," He replied. "Though we really like each other a lot." "So when did all these start?" He scoffed. "Do I have to tell you all the details?" "Yes. I have to know."
