A FEW DAYS LATER

SOPHIA

"Mummy, do we really have everything packed up? I really feel like I'm forgetting something." Daniel tugged at my right arm as he questioned both himself and me. I looked away from the boxes stacked at the front of the door and turned to look at him, while fighting hard to keep my tears at bay.

He either saw through me, or saw through me and pretended not to. Either way, I knew my son well enough to know that I wasn't fooling him with my charade of a smile, I wasn't fooling any of them.

"Mummy! The car's full!" David screamed from the door he stood, and Darwin appeared behind him in only a matter of seconds.

"Grandma said we can take daddy's G Wagon too!" He squealed in excitement.

My smile was genuine this time around. I guess I should thank the goddess, queen Claire did not extend her hatred for me to my children. They were also her grandchildren after all. I knew she didn't care about them because of me, but because of her son. Still, I was glad that e

SOPHIA With all the things that had happened to me in the past two to three weeks, I would have thought the moon goddess would have at least been kind enough to spare me of the need to see some certain faces, but she didn't. I had a feeling I would soon be forced to atone for my unknown past sins. There had to be a reason she was allowing so much badluck my way. Adeline didn't seem bothered by my hostility. It wasn't at all surprising to see her look down on me like I was nothing, but this time was different. I could ALMOST see sympathy brimming in those shiny blue eyes of hers. "I thought to come see you, Sophia. I...I heard everything that happened, and..." "You wanted to come see for yourself, didn't you? You wanted to make sure that the rumours were true and I was finally back to the ground, just like you always wanted me to be." I snapped, not giving her the space to complete her sentence. The look in her eyes after I finished speaking was that of surprise. She didn't seem t

ASHER "Oh! My darling boy!" I could trust my mother to be over dramatic at any point in time. The doctors had told me that being in a familiar environment would help me slowly remember my past. I really hoped they were right. Losing memories sucked, especially when it felt like a huge part of me was missing. Like I was a stranger in my own body, in my very own mind. Once I took the first step out of the car, a strange feeling washed over me. It felt like dire cold mixed with an intense heat that caused me to sweat, yet shiver, all in that split second. Immediately I put my second feet on the ground, it was gone. The only proof of the feeling that remained were the goosebumps on my skin and the sweat that had formed a pool around my collar. My mother, Queen Claire Morris, was already stationed in front of me. She wore a huge smile as she spread her arms open in an attempt to welcome me into a hug. I wasted no time in accepting it. She was the only familiar face, after all. Beside

SOPHIA He asked me to come forward, but for some reason, I forgot how to walk. My legs refused to comply with the rest of my body, and my mind was frozen. He chose me. But why? Why me? Did he remember? Did he feel the pull we felt when we first met? The circumstances were nothing similar to when we first met, besides the fact that he was royalty and I... I wasn't. "Are you suddenly deaf, Bailey?!" The queen barked at me, an obvious frown stretched across her face. I ignored her but swallowed hard and tried my best to rush to his side. "Mother, please..." He cut in. "I do not understand why you will pick her. She is slow and sluggish, and just look at her..." "Mother, stop. Right now, stop it." He was starting to grow pissed. Asher had changed more than I thought. The Asher I knew would have never spoken to his mother in such a manner, nor stand up for a mere servant. His mother had spoiled him, and there was no doubt that fact. But the man in front of me was different. He repri

ASHER I corked my right brow in amusement as she slowly walked towards the bed. She moved very cautiously, as though she was terrified of walking too hard on the ground. She also - mind you - made very good effort not to look me in the eyes. It was normal to see women cower around me. Not necessarily cower, but it was normal to see them shy. However, I knew that Doctor Bailey's avoidance of eye contact was not because she was shy. No, she did not seem timid, not even in the slightest bit. She looked away and hid her gaze like someone who was hiding something. A dreadful secret. "I shall show you the medication and explain the prescription to you, Your Highness." She spoke, standing in front of the bedside drawer at my right. I couldn't help the smile that formed on my face. "And if I should lose my memory and take the wrong drug?" She spared me a short glance. The glare in her eyes amused me even more. I had only known her for a few minutes - maybe an hour if you add the time I w

SOPHIA I ran out of the room and out of his presence as fast as my legs could carry me. I had known it wouldn't be easy being around him, but I never imagined it would be so hard. I had thought he would be like the Asher I knew, the spoilt one who seemed to care about nothing and no one but himself, no matter how hard he tried. This Asher was different. He was everything I knew, and I believed he had in him, even in those years when I did nothing but love him. Tears welled up in my eyes no matter how hard I tried to hold them back. Had he always had this character in him? Kind, soft spoken, yet disciplined and stern. Why did he have to wait so long to show it? Why wasn't I able to get this part of him all along? 'Perhaps this is the goddess' way of giving you both a second chance. You would never have seen this side of him if you didn't get to see him like this.' I gasped and stood still. For the first time in months, I heard my wolf's voice. Dawn spoke to me! "D... Dawn?" I ca

  • Once Rejected, Now Desired    NINETY| No admiration

AUTHOR Lady Hannah Clarke looked away from the brown-eyed girl, with her heart racing at an alarming rate in her chest. It bumped against her chest so hard that she found herself having to clutch her stepdaughter's arm. Savanna looked up at her with bright blue eyes that sparkled like a million stars. Lady Hannah knew she looked a lot like her father. It was Lord Clarke's blue eyes that entrapped her the first time she met him twenty-seven years ago. She had been pregnant with her daughter then.A daughter she had abandoned with her father, all for the great Lord Clarke. She swallowed hard. "Mother, are you alright?" Savanna asked, narrowing her eyes at her mother, the only one she had ever known. Lady Hannah forced a smile. She could hear Queen Claire speak with excitement. She had been far too lost in her thoughts to make out the queen's words. "Yes, yes, of course." She replied, feigning a smile. "The queen was just asking what we believe the colour of the day should be. I l

SOPHIA After the strange meeting with the Queen and her visitors, I retired to the maids quarters to finish my work for the day. I was more than comfortable with the idea of returning to my small bunk bed, burying my head in my pillow, and sleeping. I wanted to wake up from the nightmare that I was currently living in and reside with my boys in Crescent Heart again. I wanted to believe we had never come to Dark Moon, and I never had to be separated from them. However, as the universe would have it again, all my dreams came to nothing and were shattered the minute Queen Claire stomped into the kitchen, demanding - and very specifically - to see me. "Where is Bailey?" She asked, her stern eyes glanced through the kitchen. The maids made sure to clear the path for her eyes until they eventually landed on me."There you are. You are to set the table for tonight's dinner." I bowed my head as she spoke. The last thing I wanted to give her was a reason to humiliate me in front of every

ASHER I watched as she scurried out of my presence, bowing to the three ladies behind me before disappearing. While I didn't look back, I was able to catch the smile on Savanna's face and the scowl on my mother's from the corner of my eye. "Shall we eat, ladies? I apologize for the little distraction." I finally spoke once I had been able to get Bailey's lavender scent out of my nostrils. Savanna chuckled with excitement, rushed over to me, and wrapped her arm in mine. "Of course, your majesty." She tilted her neck to look at her mother, Lady Hannah. "Mother, shall we?" "Who would I be to keep the king waiting?" Together, they all roared with laughter while we approached the table. I sat between my mother and Savanna more because Savanna refused to leave my side than anything else. "It's a pleasure to have you back, your majesty. • Once Rejected, Now Desired    Dearest gentle reader,

This has been an emotional roller coaster for me. This story began in January, and since then, a lot of things have happened. I’ve been sick, I’ve had countless visits to the hospital, gotten an operation, entered final year in medical school, a lot of things actually. And finally, after nine months, I get to say goodbye to the beautiful Morris family, and everyone involved in their story. It wasn’t easy, but you all stood by me. I hope you enjoyed this story as much I almost enjoyed writing it. And I hope to see you again in my next project coming in OCTOBER, and my debut billionaire romance novel. Thank you all. Xoxo, Bella Hemsworth.

  • Once Rejected, Now Desired    Epilogue

SEVEN MONTHS LATER AUTHOR The sound of the door closing had everyone up on their feet. Daniel, Darwin, Lillie who had been fidgeting on her seat, Queen Sophia, even little Emilia. The doctor blinked twice, fairly surprised by how fast they had all stood. All the set of eyes that peered at her caused her to clear her throat. She couldn’t blame them for being anxious. Princess Darla had been in the labor room for over eight hours. “How’s everything? How’s she? How’s…?” Lillie moved to the front, and the doctor smiled at her. “Everything is fine, your highness. Princess Darla has just delivered two beautiful and handsome children.” Silence hung in the air for three brief seconds. Yes. The doctor had counted. “Does this mean…?” Lillie asked with wide eyes. “Yes.” The tall lady replied. “Twins.” “Oh my God!” Lillie screamed, tears in her eyes as she watched everyone else rush into the room. They were supposed to have gone in one by one, but even the doctor knew better than to tr

Lillie’s POV *THREE WEEKS LATER* I stood outside Darla’s room, taking a deep breath before knocking softly. No response, but I knew she was in there. I could hear her crying from where I stood. Even her large twin doors had done nothing to mask the sound of her sorry. I turned mine into a ball in my throat and swallowed hard to push it down to my stomach. It couldn’t come out, not today. I reached for her door knob, opened the door and found her sitting on the edge of her bed, her face pale, her eyes swollen from crying. The black dress Darwin had gotten for her lay untouched in a rumpled mess beside her."Darla, you need to get ready," I said gently, stepping inside. "It’s time."She shook her head, her hands trembling as they gripped the sheets. "I can’t," she whispered. "If I get dressed… if I go downstairs… it means he’s really gone. That Logan is really gone, and I’ll never see him again. The love of my life, Lillie… the father of my child." Her voice cracked, her should

David’s POV Blood. All over the room. Dripping from every wound in my body. I didn’t need to see my reflection in the mirror to know I had been beaten up real good. Yet, when I saw it, a bitter chuckle forced its way out of my throat. I had managed to kill them all even in my state. The fuckers must have known they wouldn’t be able to stand a chance, hence why they had to poison me. In those last minutes of my life, the faces of my brothers flashed in my mind as I sat on my bed. My brothers, my sisters, my darling mother who had seen so much loss in her time. I never thought I’d see them again. I thought that, by the time they reached the hospital, I’d be long gone. When the rogues came, I was sure it was over. They had knives, weapons—I barely had the strength to lift my arms, but something inside me, something primal, wouldn’t let me give up. Not yet. Not before seeing my family one last time. If they could get to me, that is. There was no guarantee they had been able to make it

Darwin’s POV Heavy is the head that wears the crown, but there wasn’t a crown on my head. However, I knew I had stepped into David’s shoes the moment he was hospitalized. It suddenly made sense why he had been so stoic and protective of everyone. For the first time in a long time, I could feel what he felt. The weight of the world resting on my shoulders. My world, and that of Dark Moon at large. Even as I ripped Jace’s head from his neck, the reality of what had just happened sank deeper as I looked at him—the cousin who once laughed with us as children, now reduced to this: A lifeless head in my hands. Who would have thought I would be the one to end his life? Who would have thought that he’ll be the one to turn our lives around? To hurt my brothers, to betray the only family he could call his? His eyes, once filled with arrogance and ambition, were now vacant, staring up at the sky even in his death. But now, he would be unable to see any fucking thing. His life had ended.

Darwin: The battle was far more brutal than expected. Dead bodies lay across the ground, a mix of our own people, rogues and rebel soldiers. Daniel and I were yet to turn as we were preserving our energy to fight our common enemy. A wolf lunged at me and I caught it by its collar and snapped its next in one move. It dropped to the ground, slowly shifting back to its human form as it took its last breath. Another one came and I sank my claws into it, twisting and tearing its guts out so it lay on the floor in a disgusting pile. I only one had one intention as I made my way towards the Palace. And that was to make sure Lillie and my family members were safe. After I'd confirmed that they were, I would return here and find Jace. The hall was empty. Void of anyone, so I knew they had all been carted away to safety to the Palace's secret basement. I heard a familar sob and hurried towards the corner leading to the underground building. Lillie was crouched beside Logan w

Lillie's POV: Tonight was a wedding and the whole Palace was bright with the hustle and bustle of activities. A decorating team had been employed to decorate the area and it had gone on for about two days. Tonight, they were finishing up the rest of the decorations as guests began to arrive. I heard the Queen's voice from where I stood in Darla's room. She was yelling at the decorating team for their slow pace and we all laughed when she asked one of the ladies to get out of her sight. "It's not mother's wedding and yet, she yells like it's hers." Emilia said from where she stood, our beautiful flower girl, getting dressed by some of the maids. Darla chuckled from where she sat in front of her vanity table. "Mother can be a control freak at times. Don't tell her I said this, or she's going to serve my body to the guests." Emilia grinned in mischief and I instantly knew she was going to use emotional blackmail now that she had power over Darla. "Wh

Lillie's POV: Things were going smoothly. More than I expected. I banished the thoughts of something ruining the good time everyone was having and decided to, for once in my life, be happy that things were going the way I wanted. Queen Sofia was forced to interceed on Logan's behalf and the embargo of being a slave was taken off him. Darla made it a point of duty to remind her every waking moment of the day until the Queen decided to have rites held on Logan's behalf. And now, they were seen always having little cute moments around the palace. Logan and Darla were always found in each other's arm and I always saw the look on the Queen's face. Even after taking the banishment off Logan's head, she still wasn't in approval of their relationship. But as time went on, she became busy with other things and paid them no heed until I found her one day, smiling at Darla and Logan as they sat at the porch. Darla had her head on Logan's lap as he read her a book. It was such a

Lillie's POV: I paced from one end of the room to the other, trying to come up with words to say to my brother. Logan stood, head bowed low, at the other end of the room. I could tell he was feeling extremely bad, but not guilty. He finally stood tall, steeling his expression as he stared right at me. "What are you going to do? Judge me for following my heart? Call that a mistake also?" I honestly had nothing to say to him if I was being honest. I was just surprised that Logan and Darla were ever a thing. I wasn't angry or judgemental. I just didn't like how it had been hidden from me. Did Logan not trust me? Or hadn't I been a good enough elder sister for him to talk to? These were the thoughts that plagued my mind. I turned to him and sighed. "When did you start Dating Darla?" "We're not... dating," He replied. "Though we really like each other a lot." "So when did all these start?" He scoffed. "Do I have to tell you all the details?" "Yes. I have to know."
