SOPHIA

Something was wrong. I continued to stare at the back of his neck that the strands of his black hair allowed me to see.

Something was terribly wrong.

When I saw Reed at our door this morning, my anger returned, and my heart broke for Asher all over again. Why was he here? Who the hell gave him the audacity to step into the palace even after everything he had done? Had he suddenly forgotten that he tried to kill my babies, and was responsible for Asher's father's death?!

I expected Asher to ask him to get the hell out of here. Not arresting him immediately was already a stretch, but smiling at him and shaking his hand? I didn't see that coming.

It didn't make sense to me until Asher said the following words; "What? That he betrayed me and slept with my wife?"

It hit me at that very moment.

ASHER DID NOT REMEMBER!

There were a lot of things that happened on the day of his accident, and that included his conversation with Adeline in his office, which I wasn't supposed to h

SOPHIA By the time Asher returned to the room, I made sure to take my shower and was now seated on my side of the bed, waiting for him to return. Once he stepped into the room, both of his hands moved to the buttons of his shirt as he walked to the vanity mirror that adorned a distal corner of our room. He didn't say any words to me. He didn't even bother to look at me twice even though I was dressed in a lilac pair of lingerie, patiently waiting for him - my king - to return. Asher settled on the stool in front of the vanity table and undressed himself bit by bit. He only jumped into bed when he was on nothing but his black vest and matching black boxer briefs. My eyes danced to the clock at sat on the wall beside the huge twin doors of our room. Past 8pm. His meeting with Reed continued two more hours after I had left. Once he climbed into bed beside me, I flashed him a smile and moved slowly towards him. I lowered my lips to his face and pressed a soft kiss on both his cheeks.

  • Once Rejected, Now Desired    HEY

Hi guys, good morning from my side of the world! It's your favorite author again (permit me to be this bold, lol.) I was going to just post the next chapter and move on, but I knew it wouldn't be fair to you guys who have waited so long (5 days) for me. I had such huge plans for this month, and was ready and pumped to update 3 chapters daily, I kid you not. Only to be hit with an illness that cost me 2 impromptu tests and 5 update days. Also, I walked out of a one year relationship I thought was going to last forever, because apparently, love doesn't fix everything. Nevertheless, I am slowly getting back on my feet now, and I wanted to thank you guys for your support and the kind comments so far. Please, this author would really appreciate if you sneak my book into the next discussion you're having with your friends and family, or the next post you want to make. It'll mean a lot to me. Also, what do we think of the book so far? Honest thoughts please? Remember to be kind to

AUTHOR Reed Borne was ready to leave the palace first thing that morning. More because he couldn't bear to smile at Asher one more time than anything else. The act he had been made to put on was everything but soothing, and it didn't help that Sophia continued to look down at him in such a condescending manner either. He would take care of them soon, he thought. Every single one of them would get to understand why he was the son of his mother. Dressed in his suit attire, he twirled his car key in his right pinky finger as he matched towards the door. He knew he had a mission to fulfil, and that was to return to the dinner table that night with Adeline's arm strapped in his. And she wasn't going to make it easy for him, not at all. But it would teach the nosy young queen to stick her nose where it mattered. Her days were numbered after all. Reed could only smile to himself at the thought. He paused in the middle of the large reception hall and looked around. Up at the stairs that

AUTHOR Reed Borne pulled into the driveway of his home at exactly 5:40am. He smiled when he saw the light that emanated from his bedroom window. He knew she would be awake by that time of the day, she always was."Some things never change, do they?" He asked himself as he shut his car door. It was impossible to deny the fact that he was nervous deep down… terrified, even. What if she didn't listen to him? He shook his head. That was impossible. He had to convince himself of that fact, and make sure to look the part as well. He and Adeline had been together for as long as he could remember. She loved him more than he loved his own self. The doors were left open, so he figured she must have returned from her morning jog. Adeline was quite the fitness enthusiast. It was one of the many things he had grown to admire about her. As he walked up the stairs that led to their bedroom, Reed kept his ears down for any form of sound. He also needed to be quiet in order to not raise any alarm.

SOPHIA Asher did not speak to me throughout the next day. I told myself it was because he was majorly busy in one meeting or another in the courtroom. When he wasn't in the palace court, he was out on one visitation or another. Gaston accompanied him on all of these visits. He was slowly getting himself back and becoming the Alpha of Dark Moon once again. I was absolutely filled with pride as I watched him dress up three times for different occasions. I held on and told myself that it would all come to light at dinner time, when Reed would fail to show up with Adeline and he would have to tell us why. Don't get me wrong, I knew how smart Reed was. He would definitely have one or two tricks up his sleeve, but he would never turn down a challenge. He would come to dinner without Adeline, lie about it, and that is where he would be caught. I would tie his string of lies around his neck until he choked, and he would be forced to say the truth. It was a perfect plan. Unlike him, I didn'

SOPHIA By the time Asher was done apologizing for the awkwardness of the dinner, the food was already cold. So, we all made it our point of duty to empty the plates without saying another word, knowing how well we could get distracted by the next hot topic. Once we were done eating and the servants began to clear the table, I looked over at Adeline who kept her eyes on nothing in particular as she held onto her glass of red wine. She had been destabilized since Asher's question. I couldn't blame her. I would be worse if I had to lose any of my children at any point in time. "Adeline dear, why don't we leave the boys to do their little chit chat while we catch up in the garden?" I called out. I had not forgotten what she whispered in my ear when I arrived with Asher earlier. As a matter of fact, I had been counting seconds down to that very moment. She snapped out of her reverie and turned to look at me. She didn't appear to hear what I had said before, so I repeated my statement. A

ASHER Sophia was up to something, that was for sure. I had noticed how she stayed quiet for most of the dinner. Her eyes constantly roamed around the room as if searching for something in the eyes of every single one of us. And when she called Adeline out and technically pulled her away from the room, I knew for a fact that something was wrong. I made sure to see Reed and Adeline back to the car. Sophia stood beside me as we watched them drive away while I waved with a smile. She managed to fake a smile, but wouldn't wave. Not even when I placed my free hand on her waist and tugged at the silk of her dress to make her do so. Once they were gone, she said nothing to me. She only turned away and started to walk back into the palace. I was bothered at first because I thought Adeline had said something to make her mad. However, when I noticed how she continuously tapped her fingers on the sides of her hips, I knew she wasn't pissed, she was lost in thoughts. Thoughts of what, though

AUTHOR Adeline Blane Borne meant every word she had said to Sophia - a girl who had been raised as her sister. Adeline had never liked Sophia for obvious reasons, especially that goody-two-shoes attitude of hers. It was one of the many things about Sophia that sickened Adeline to her stomach. It was also one of the reasons she had decided to “help” Sophia in her fight. “It would be so much fun watching her try to beat Reed at a game he knows too well.” She thought to herself on the drive home. To her, this was all nothing but a very interesting soap opera she had been given a one time chance to direct. Who could possibly want to miss out on that? She stayed silent throughout her ride home beside her husband, Reed. Adeline could feel his eyes on her for most of the drive, but she continued to play oblivious. She knew that her meeting with Sophia had been haunting him. She knew the question that lingered at the tip of his tongue, and wondered how much it would take to push it out of

  • Once Rejected, Now Desired    Dearest gentle reader,

This has been an emotional roller coaster for me. This story began in January, and since then, a lot of things have happened. I’ve been sick, I’ve had countless visits to the hospital, gotten an operation, entered final year in medical school, a lot of things actually. And finally, after nine months, I get to say goodbye to the beautiful Morris family, and everyone involved in their story. It wasn’t easy, but you all stood by me. I hope you enjoyed this story as much I almost enjoyed writing it. And I hope to see you again in my next project coming in OCTOBER, and my debut billionaire romance novel. Thank you all. Xoxo, Bella Hemsworth.

  • Once Rejected, Now Desired    Epilogue

SEVEN MONTHS LATER AUTHOR The sound of the door closing had everyone up on their feet. Daniel, Darwin, Lillie who had been fidgeting on her seat, Queen Sophia, even little Emilia. The doctor blinked twice, fairly surprised by how fast they had all stood. All the set of eyes that peered at her caused her to clear her throat. She couldn’t blame them for being anxious. Princess Darla had been in the labor room for over eight hours. “How’s everything? How’s she? How’s…?” Lillie moved to the front, and the doctor smiled at her. “Everything is fine, your highness. Princess Darla has just delivered two beautiful and handsome children.” Silence hung in the air for three brief seconds. Yes. The doctor had counted. “Does this mean…?” Lillie asked with wide eyes. “Yes.” The tall lady replied. “Twins.” “Oh my God!” Lillie screamed, tears in her eyes as she watched everyone else rush into the room. They were supposed to have gone in one by one, but even the doctor knew better than to tr

Lillie’s POV *THREE WEEKS LATER* I stood outside Darla’s room, taking a deep breath before knocking softly. No response, but I knew she was in there. I could hear her crying from where I stood. Even her large twin doors had done nothing to mask the sound of her sorry. I turned mine into a ball in my throat and swallowed hard to push it down to my stomach. It couldn’t come out, not today. I reached for her door knob, opened the door and found her sitting on the edge of her bed, her face pale, her eyes swollen from crying. The black dress Darwin had gotten for her lay untouched in a rumpled mess beside her."Darla, you need to get ready," I said gently, stepping inside. "It’s time."She shook her head, her hands trembling as they gripped the sheets. "I can’t," she whispered. "If I get dressed… if I go downstairs… it means he’s really gone. That Logan is really gone, and I’ll never see him again. The love of my life, Lillie… the father of my child." Her voice cracked, her should

David’s POV Blood. All over the room. Dripping from every wound in my body. I didn’t need to see my reflection in the mirror to know I had been beaten up real good. Yet, when I saw it, a bitter chuckle forced its way out of my throat. I had managed to kill them all even in my state. The fuckers must have known they wouldn’t be able to stand a chance, hence why they had to poison me. In those last minutes of my life, the faces of my brothers flashed in my mind as I sat on my bed. My brothers, my sisters, my darling mother who had seen so much loss in her time. I never thought I’d see them again. I thought that, by the time they reached the hospital, I’d be long gone. When the rogues came, I was sure it was over. They had knives, weapons—I barely had the strength to lift my arms, but something inside me, something primal, wouldn’t let me give up. Not yet. Not before seeing my family one last time. If they could get to me, that is. There was no guarantee they had been able to make it

Darwin’s POV Heavy is the head that wears the crown, but there wasn’t a crown on my head. However, I knew I had stepped into David’s shoes the moment he was hospitalized. It suddenly made sense why he had been so stoic and protective of everyone. For the first time in a long time, I could feel what he felt. The weight of the world resting on my shoulders. My world, and that of Dark Moon at large. Even as I ripped Jace’s head from his neck, the reality of what had just happened sank deeper as I looked at him—the cousin who once laughed with us as children, now reduced to this: A lifeless head in my hands. Who would have thought I would be the one to end his life? Who would have thought that he’ll be the one to turn our lives around? To hurt my brothers, to betray the only family he could call his? His eyes, once filled with arrogance and ambition, were now vacant, staring up at the sky even in his death. But now, he would be unable to see any fucking thing. His life had ended.

Darwin: The battle was far more brutal than expected. Dead bodies lay across the ground, a mix of our own people, rogues and rebel soldiers. Daniel and I were yet to turn as we were preserving our energy to fight our common enemy. A wolf lunged at me and I caught it by its collar and snapped its next in one move. It dropped to the ground, slowly shifting back to its human form as it took its last breath. Another one came and I sank my claws into it, twisting and tearing its guts out so it lay on the floor in a disgusting pile. I only one had one intention as I made my way towards the Palace. And that was to make sure Lillie and my family members were safe. After I'd confirmed that they were, I would return here and find Jace. The hall was empty. Void of anyone, so I knew they had all been carted away to safety to the Palace's secret basement. I heard a familar sob and hurried towards the corner leading to the underground building. Lillie was crouched beside Logan w

  • Once Rejected, Now Desired    Book 2| Chapter 101

Lillie's POV: Tonight was a wedding and the whole Palace was bright with the hustle and bustle of activities. A decorating team had been employed to decorate the area and it had gone on for about two days. Tonight, they were finishing up the rest of the decorations as guests began to arrive. I heard the Queen's voice from where I stood in Darla's room. She was yelling at the decorating team for their slow pace and we all laughed when she asked one of the ladies to get out of her sight. "It's not mother's wedding and yet, she yells like it's hers." Emilia said from where she stood, our beautiful flower girl, getting dressed by some of the maids. Darla chuckled from where she sat in front of her vanity table. "Mother can be a control freak at times. Don't tell her I said this, or she's going to serve my body to the guests." Emilia grinned in mischief and I instantly knew she was going to use emotional blackmail now that she had power over Darla. "Wh

Lillie's POV: Things were going smoothly. More than I expected. I banished the thoughts of something ruining the good time everyone was having and decided to, for once in my life, be happy that things were going the way I wanted. Queen Sofia was forced to interceed on Logan's behalf and the embargo of being a slave was taken off him. Darla made it a point of duty to remind her every waking moment of the day until the Queen decided to have rites held on Logan's behalf. And now, they were seen always having little cute moments around the palace. Logan and Darla were always found in each other's arm and I always saw the look on the Queen's face. Even after taking the banishment off Logan's head, she still wasn't in approval of their relationship. But as time went on, she became busy with other things and paid them no heed until I found her one day, smiling at Darla and Logan as they sat at the porch. Darla had her head on Logan's lap as he read her a book. It was such a

Lillie's POV: I paced from one end of the room to the other, trying to come up with words to say to my brother. Logan stood, head bowed low, at the other end of the room. I could tell he was feeling extremely bad, but not guilty. He finally stood tall, steeling his expression as he stared right at me. "What are you going to do? Judge me for following my heart? Call that a mistake also?" I honestly had nothing to say to him if I was being honest. I was just surprised that Logan and Darla were ever a thing. I wasn't angry or judgemental. I just didn't like how it had been hidden from me. Did Logan not trust me? Or hadn't I been a good enough elder sister for him to talk to? These were the thoughts that plagued my mind. I turned to him and sighed. "When did you start Dating Darla?" "We're not... dating," He replied. "Though we really like each other a lot." "So when did all these start?" He scoffed. "Do I have to tell you all the details?" "Yes. I have to know."
