HAZEL’S POV

Anxiety hung heavy over me as I reviewed everything Celeste had told me to do. We had concocted a plan, but I was extremely worried on whether or not I would be able to execute it properly.

I paced around my room, biting my fingernails as worry filled my mind. Would this plan go well? Would I be able to execute it flawlessly? What if I completely messed it up? I couldn’t stop these questions from plaguing my mind.

“I can smell your anxiety all the way from here.”

I turned to see Celeste walking out of the bathroom. She flopped down on the bed a s titled her head at me.

“So? Are you ready for this?”

“Do I Look like I’m ready? I don’t even think I can do this. What if I mess up Celeste? What if things don’t go as planned?”

Celeste sighed and rose up from the bed. She walked up to me and placed her hands on my shoulder.

It could be getting their mate, shifting at an early age, having their favorite toy.But for me, Hazel Grayson, my happiest day was today, nope...right now, walking towards the aisle to meet the man of my dreams with a joyous smile spreading through every part of me. All eyes were focused on me at each step I took in my white princess-like wedding gown, a bouquet of red roses in my hands and my eyes staring straight to my man, my mate, Lucas Sebastian. He was dressed in a black suit, his brown hair slicked to the back and both of his hands folded on top of each other, tapping his foot on the floor either nervously or excitedly. I climbed the two stairs of the altar and faced him, the smile on my face stretching more widely and showing a glimpse of my teeth as he grinned back at me too.“How ar

Father..father please!”My eyes opened instantly, beads of sweat running from my forehead to every part of me as my chest fell and rose, my heart pounding heavily inside of it. I shut my eyes slowly, taking a huge gulp before clenching my jaw hard. It was the same dream, the one that my father has inflicted on me and might haunt me till the day I died.It got better each time, some days it ended where he slashed my mother’s face with his claws, some days when he discovered that I wasn’t his son and gave her the first slap. And some days, just like this one, when he had successfully torn her head from her body and was on his way to kill me only to be weakened because he had killed her.In our world, an alpha should never kill his mate, or anyone related to him no matter the offense. And the day my father, or the Alpha since I wasn’t his child, killed my mother, that was the day he lost most of his power. My eyes flew open as the door swung open h

In one swift motion, I pulled the knife out of his side, and immediately aimed to his back.As I swung my hand to strike him, he grabbed my wrist, restricting my movements. KILLIAN’S POVPaperwork, paperwork, and more paperwork. That was the only thing I had been doing since last night. I scratched my head as I gazed at the piles and heaps of documents in front of me. I tapped my pen on the table, feeling irritated that I had to sit here and do all of this work.I wasn’t the type to sit down in a chair like some office worker and attend to papers that I knew nothing about. The thought made me grimace. The rapt knocking came again, but this time it sounded softer. Had they known I was awake? Anxiety was coursing through my chest, as silence hung in the air. The thought of that made my heart drop to the pit of my chest. My mind was swarmed with questions. What did she think? Was she happy, or was she sad? Will she be angry at me for keeping her parents in a cell? The more these questions swam around in my head, the more my guest tightened.
