LILLIE’S POV

I found myself smelling Dave’s shirt as I made my way back to the servant quarters. His clothes were still fresh upon even if I had an evening full of troubles the day before. The hall was unusually silent as I made my way through. I understood that nobody was awake yet by I could sense that there was something wrong. I made my way in and saw a bright light shining from the end of the hall.

I wanted to ignore it at first but as I was about to enter my room, the light was continuously shining, dragging me towards it. I wondered if it was the people who were handling the night duty the night before. I understood that they were probably tired from staying at alert for so long.

They had to over work themselves yesterday because of the party going on. They would have been banished from the palace if anything at all went wrong. I peered closer. It was any torch lights from them.

I wanted to call out and ask if anything or anyone was there. I ended up biting my lips and keepi

DAVID“Where the hell is my sister?” Logan asked, as he burst into my office.I decided that I was too tired to even go to the office. I guess that was the effect of spending the night with someone as energetic as Lillie. I had walked through the palace under the pretext of trying to get my head straight but I didn’t even see her clearing the plates after breakfast the way she does on a normal day. I had seen her room mates doing their usual chores. She just wasn’t there. I figured out that she was probably hiding from me. Everything that Daniel had told me in the morning was echoing in my head even if I was trying to keep it at the back of my head. I stared at Logan from head to toe. He was still putting on his washed up clothes. There were bits of soil in his fingernails. He had obviously been working in the garden or something. “What do you mean? I thought she was with you,” I told him gesturing at him. “And couldn’t you knock?”His nose was flared as he stared at me. He finally

LILLIEAnother foot making constant contact with mine and another arm poking against my stomach was enough to wake me up. I tried to stand up without even opening my eyes. That was a huge mistake because I ended up falling right back down. “She’s awake,” one woman said softly. “Well, she better be because she cannot be taking up all the space,” another woman with a thicker voice said. “Open your eyes, sweetie,” the one with the calmer voice said. “It would be easier for you that way.”What would be easier?” I wanted to ask, but the words refused to make their way up my throat to ask the question. I struggled to open my eyes. They couldn’t even open properly. My head was throbbing. In fact, my whole body was hurting all at once. I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I didn’t know if I wanted to cry. I had almost started begging even if I knew that I wasn’t begging anybody exactly. I wanted all of this pain to go away immediately. A pair of soft hands managed to pull me up to my waist

DARLAI was constantly chewing inside my mouth. All the flesh was bare there. Very soon, people were going to be seeing all of my teeth on display. The thought was funny, but I couldn’t laugh. I was pacing around the room. I headed out for the balcony as my room as becoming stuffy. The one thing that was constantly in my hand was still there. My stuffed giraffe. I walked around my large balcony as I held on to it. It had been a day since Lillie had gone missing. People might have been saying that she was barely important. But there the pack was. Coming to a stand still because a so called slave was missing. Dave was worried. He hadn’t eaten for the past day and neither have the other two. I didn’t know if they were eating because Lillie was missing or because none of them could eat if the others haven’t eaten. Daniel was constantly singing that she had run away. I knew that she had struck a deal with Dave to get Logan his freedom. She didn’t seem like the kind of person that would r

LILLIEI screamed as soon as the man let go of the chains and walked back to the car. I could feel myself jolt at the feeling of the car moving again.“I’m going to die, I’m going to die,” I repeated to myself. I stopped myself immediately. I had to stay alive for Logan. I was definitely going to do everything that I had promised him that I will. I was going to grant him all the wishes that he had asked for. I was going to buy him those clothes that he had asked for.“Mama,” I could hear a tiny voice scream. It wouldn’t take time before she would start crying. I could make out her tiny figure in the darkness. Even my mother would be jealous it she could see this clearly in the darkness. “Don’t interact with anyone,” the nice woman who pretended to sleep was whispering to me. Just as I had predicted, the baby had started crying. I couldn’t hold myself back just the way I could watch Logan cry for anything at all.“Come here, baby,” I said. The baby girl crawled over to my open hands.

DAVID’S POVLogan hurried into the room. “You called for me,” he answered. It didn’t even take him three minutes to walk into the palace. We all hadn’t eaten since we found out that Lillie was missing but it had the most effect on him. He had bones peeking out from his neck at that point. I had begged him to eat. I knew that Lillie would have wanted me to take good care of him. And I was trying to do just that if he didn’t hate me so much. “I have news for you,” I said. His eyes widened immediately. “What news? Have you found my sister?”“There is a condition attached to it,” I announced, with my hands behind my back as I walked around him, like my prey. “What condition? Name it and tell me the news already.”“You have to eat first.” He growled, thinking I was joking about the whole thing.“Listen,” he said, walking up to me quickly. “I’m not going to join you in your stupid play while you try to prove that you’re the perfect gentleman in front of my sister. That trick is not goin

LILLIE The smell of smoke caused me to sneeze. It has tickled my nostrils for far too long, and I could no longer ignore it. The painful sneeze opened my eyes to the brightly lit fire in front of me. Quickly, I got up, and my back came in contact with something that felt oddly wooden. My eyes quickly scanned the room. Large, wooden, but the ground wasn’t covered with concrete or any covering material at all. It was just grass and sand. I tried to rise to my feet, but my head was hurting terribly. At that moment, I could only wonder who had been silly enough to light a fire that huge in a wooden room. If anything went wrong, the entire building could easily be torched up. Secondly, where the hell was I? The last thing I could remember was falling on my knees as I cried for help. Where was I? I suddenly realized I had little to no idea where I was. Pressing my back against the wall, I stood up slowly. I was still dressed in the maid uniform I had been kidnapped from the palace with.

LILLIE “…and if I were you, I'd choose us.” The bruise at the side of my head, and my knees started to hurt three times as much all of a sudden. I wasn’t aware how long I had been away from Darkmoon, or how far away I was. The only thing I knew was that I needed to return as soon as possible. While on the ground, all I could think about was my brother. I wondered what he would be going through knowing I was missing, if he would have been able to convince the princes to search for me, if they even cared about me enough to do so. It might have been killing him that I was gone, and there was nothing he could do about it. I hoped - more than anything - that he didn’t think I had left him behind. It was his thoughts that gave me the strength I needed to force myself to my feet. Carla didn’t look away from me. Her gaze remained fixed on me with a fire burning in her eyes. Breathing heavily through my mouth, I held out the screw driver to her. “I haven’t killed anyone before, but I beli

DAVID Blood, sweat, tears. All of a sudden, I could taste all three of them at the tip of my tongue. I was in darkness. The air around me was thick, and strange, eerie sounds filled the space. Birds chirping from a distance, owls howling. I was alone in the darkness with the three poignant tastes in my mouth, sweating profusely, I continued to look around. My heart pounded in my chest as I stood there, trying to make sense of where I was. I had never been in anything like it before. Suddenly, a large fire blazed up in the middle of the forest. Then I saw her—Lillie. She lay on the ground, naked and weak. The sides of her head were bruised, and both her hands were stretched out, as though she had been hit while trying to crawl. My breath hitched in my throat as my eyes widened in shock. “Lillie!” I shouted, my voice rough and desperate. I wanted to get to her immediately! The last few days of not knowing where she was had almost driven me insane. We had come to find out that her t

  • Once Banished, Now A Luna    Epilogue

SEVEN MONTHS LATER AUTHOR The sound of the door closing had everyone up on their feet. Daniel, Darwin, Lillie who had been fidgeting on her seat, Queen Sophia, even little Emilia. The doctor blinked twice, fairly surprised by how fast they had all stood. All the set of eyes that peered at her caused her to clear her throat. She couldn’t blame them for being anxious. Princess Darla had been in the labor room for over eight hours. “How’s everything? How’s she? How’s…?” Lillie moved to the front, and the doctor smiled at her. “Everything is fine, your highness. Princess Darla has just delivered two beautiful and handsome children.” Silence hung in the air for three brief seconds. Yes. The doctor had counted. “Does this mean…?” Lillie asked with wide eyes. “Yes.” The tall lady replied. “Twins.” “Oh my God!” Lillie screamed, tears in her eyes as she watched everyone else rush into the room. They were supposed to have gone in one by one, but even the doctor knew better than to tr

Lillie’s POV *THREE WEEKS LATER* I stood outside Darla’s room, taking a deep breath before knocking softly. No response, but I knew she was in there. I could hear her crying from where I stood. Even her large twin doors had done nothing to mask the sound of her sorry. I turned mine into a ball in my throat and swallowed hard to push it down to my stomach. It couldn’t come out, not today. I reached for her door knob, opened the door and found her sitting on the edge of her bed, her face pale, her eyes swollen from crying. The black dress Darwin had gotten for her lay untouched in a rumpled mess beside her."Darla, you need to get ready," I said gently, stepping inside. "It’s time."She shook her head, her hands trembling as they gripped the sheets. "I can’t," she whispered. "If I get dressed… if I go downstairs… it means he’s really gone. That Logan is really gone, and I’ll never see him again. The love of my life, Lillie… the father of my child." Her voice cracked, her should

David’s POV Blood. All over the room. Dripping from every wound in my body. I didn’t need to see my reflection in the mirror to know I had been beaten up real good. Yet, when I saw it, a bitter chuckle forced its way out of my throat. I had managed to kill them all even in my state. The fuckers must have known they wouldn’t be able to stand a chance, hence why they had to poison me. In those last minutes of my life, the faces of my brothers flashed in my mind as I sat on my bed. My brothers, my sisters, my darling mother who had seen so much loss in her time. I never thought I’d see them again. I thought that, by the time they reached the hospital, I’d be long gone. When the rogues came, I was sure it was over. They had knives, weapons—I barely had the strength to lift my arms, but something inside me, something primal, wouldn’t let me give up. Not yet. Not before seeing my family one last time. If they could get to me, that is. There was no guarantee they had been able to make it

  • Once Banished, Now A Luna    Chapter 103

Darwin’s POV Heavy is the head that wears the crown, but there wasn’t a crown on my head. However, I knew I had stepped into David’s shoes the moment he was hospitalized. It suddenly made sense why he had been so stoic and protective of everyone. For the first time in a long time, I could feel what he felt. The weight of the world resting on my shoulders. My world, and that of Dark Moon at large. Even as I ripped Jace’s head from his neck, the reality of what had just happened sank deeper as I looked at him—the cousin who once laughed with us as children, now reduced to this: A lifeless head in my hands. Who would have thought I would be the one to end his life? Who would have thought that he’ll be the one to turn our lives around? To hurt my brothers, to betray the only family he could call his? His eyes, once filled with arrogance and ambition, were now vacant, staring up at the sky even in his death. But now, he would be unable to see any fucking thing. His life had ended.

Darwin: The battle was far more brutal than expected. Dead bodies lay across the ground, a mix of our own people, rogues and rebel soldiers. Daniel and I were yet to turn as we were preserving our energy to fight our common enemy. A wolf lunged at me and I caught it by its collar and snapped its next in one move. It dropped to the ground, slowly shifting back to its human form as it took its last breath. Another one came and I sank my claws into it, twisting and tearing its guts out so it lay on the floor in a disgusting pile. I only one had one intention as I made my way towards the Palace. And that was to make sure Lillie and my family members were safe. After I'd confirmed that they were, I would return here and find Jace. The hall was empty. Void of anyone, so I knew they had all been carted away to safety to the Palace's secret basement. I heard a familar sob and hurried towards the corner leading to the underground building. Lillie was crouched beside Logan w

  • Once Banished, Now A Luna    Chapter 101

Lillie's POV: Tonight was a wedding and the whole Palace was bright with the hustle and bustle of activities. A decorating team had been employed to decorate the area and it had gone on for about two days. Tonight, they were finishing up the rest of the decorations as guests began to arrive. I heard the Queen's voice from where I stood in Darla's room. She was yelling at the decorating team for their slow pace and we all laughed when she asked one of the ladies to get out of her sight. "It's not mother's wedding and yet, she yells like it's hers." Emilia said from where she stood, our beautiful flower girl, getting dressed by some of the maids. Darla chuckled from where she sat in front of her vanity table. "Mother can be a control freak at times. Don't tell her I said this, or she's going to serve my body to the guests." Emilia grinned in mischief and I instantly knew she was going to use emotional blackmail now that she had power over Darla. "Wh

  • Once Banished, Now A Luna    Chapter 100

Lillie's POV: Things were going smoothly. More than I expected. I banished the thoughts of something ruining the good time everyone was having and decided to, for once in my life, be happy that things were going the way I wanted. Queen Sofia was forced to interceed on Logan's behalf and the embargo of being a slave was taken off him. Darla made it a point of duty to remind her every waking moment of the day until the Queen decided to have rites held on Logan's behalf. And now, they were seen always having little cute moments around the palace. Logan and Darla were always found in each other's arm and I always saw the look on the Queen's face. Even after taking the banishment off Logan's head, she still wasn't in approval of their relationship. But as time went on, she became busy with other things and paid them no heed until I found her one day, smiling at Darla and Logan as they sat at the porch. Darla had her head on Logan's lap as he read her a book. It was such a

Lillie's POV: I paced from one end of the room to the other, trying to come up with words to say to my brother. Logan stood, head bowed low, at the other end of the room. I could tell he was feeling extremely bad, but not guilty. He finally stood tall, steeling his expression as he stared right at me. "What are you going to do? Judge me for following my heart? Call that a mistake also?" I honestly had nothing to say to him if I was being honest. I was just surprised that Logan and Darla were ever a thing. I wasn't angry or judgemental. I just didn't like how it had been hidden from me. Did Logan not trust me? Or hadn't I been a good enough elder sister for him to talk to? These were the thoughts that plagued my mind. I turned to him and sighed. "When did you start Dating Darla?" "We're not... dating," He replied. "Though we really like each other a lot." "So when did all these start?" He scoffed. "Do I have to tell you all the details?" "Yes. I have to know." I
