Theon

A knock comes on my office door near the evening, and Kellin's voice follows. "Alpha, may I come in? I’ve received some news."

"Yeah," offhandedly, I say, scratching at my head and my eyes stay glued to the documents in front of me.

I am reviewing some project reports regarding a new community center we wish to build in the Rexellen pack. So far, it's coming along relatively smoothly, but that doesn't mean there weren't any hiccups.

The door opens and Kellin enters.

"How's the project going so far?"

I shrug. "Smoothly, I suppose. They've passed the plans for the tennis courts, and they seem to be okay so far. I have to pass it through a third-party architectural committee, though. What news do you have to say?"

"Just that Elias is lucid again," Kellin announces, and I sit up straight, feeling happiness blossom from within my chest. My brother was back!

"How is he?" I ask, getting up from the chair. "How are his wounds?"

Elias had been too far gone into his bloodlust in the last

TheonI tell Elias everything that happened since the last time he was out of his episode. I tell him about Callista running away, the problem with the Brekett pack, the Chamber of Despair, the Mental violation, the Witches Guild, and everything else. I even tell him about the accidents that have happened since Callista's return to the Rexellen pack.At the end of my rant-like narration, Elias gapes at me."Oh, wow," he says. "That sounds like a fever dream. An awful fever dream in which you were acting with only half a brain cell rattling around in that skull of yours-which we are going to have a long talk about- but a fever dream nonetheless.""Yet it all happened," I sigh. "And it's still happening. I don't know the identity of the person who is attacking Callista. We just accepted each other after she forgave me and now this happens.""Perhaps you should publicly start looking for the culprit," Elias suggests. "It will weed them out faster.""But I don't know who else to trust tha

ValenciaI eavesdrop on the conversation between Elias and Theon, disguised as a guard. No one suspected me when I casually walked up the tower with a mask and a uniform on. The guard who was already stationed there was nodding off, and upon seeing me he just gave a nod and went back to his sleep. I nodded back and walked up to the door, standing beside it.I can hear everything clearly from here.I don't know what made me follow Theon up the tower as soon as I saw him. Perhaps I wanted to see how Elias was. Regardless of what Theon thought, I didn't want to kill Elias for my own personal gain. I tried to do that because of kindness. Theon told me how Elias had asked him to kill the wolf before he went rogue, and Theon confessed to me that even though he knew it was his duty as his Alpha to grant him his wish he couldn't do it. The request devastated Theon, and I didn't want to see him like that.I tried to kill Elias to take the decision off his hands. I tried to kill Elias to spare

ValenciaMy eyes widen upon hearing that. I never thought Theon would agree to that. Elias was the only remaining family he had, if I were him, I would never do that. But Theon isn't me. He is the Alpha King, and he is far nobler than I ever will be. He would put his brother's needs before himself when it matters the most, regardless of how painful it is.My love for him soars in my chest. A good man like Theon should never be corrupted by the likes of the stealer. This is why I have to save him from Callista. Suddenly, I hear Theon say, "I have to go now. I will come to visit you next morning. Try to get some sleep, please.""I will," Elias promises. "And thank you, Theon." Upon hearing that, I leave the tower so they wouldn't catch me spying on them.As soon as I enter my room and throw away the guard costume I had stolen, a knock comes on my door."Valencia," Theon's voice comes. "Can we talk? I have something important to tell you." I change my voice to sound less breathy from

Callista. Some days after my big sword-fighting drama with Valencia, and the subsequent end of our tentative friendship, one morning, I get an email. After Valencia told Theon that the friendship between me and her was over, due to the fact that she was still in love with Theon and I was his true mate, I cried. I don't have a reason to lie about this, I brawled my eyes out. I really thought Valencia was a good friend so when she basically told me to go get screwed, it hurt. But I didn’t have the luxury of wallowing. I had online classes to attend, and during the one I had right after the debacle, my teacher told us that finals were coming up.That meant I had to push every sorrow to the very rear of my mind and start studying the hell off.Nothing can distract you from ex-friends than the looming threat of exams. So, I cooped myself inside my room, barred Theon from entering for an undetermined time for the foreseeable future, towed my ass to the study desk, and got into studying.I w

Callista.I knock on the thick oak door with much more finesse than I did with Theon's this morning and wait until I hear footsteps coming from the other side of the door. "Coming!" A sweet feminine voice comes from the other side of the door, accompanied by the giggle of a small child. Kellin's mate Gemini opens the door with her baby girl perched on her hip and smiles upon seeing me."Oh, hello, Callista!" she greets."Hey," I smile at her."Hewwo, Ca-ww-is-tah!" Her daughter, Sadie squeals imitating her mother, and my heart melts at her cuteness."Hi, Sadie!" I extend my hand towards her, and she takes it in an enthusiastic manner, pumping two of my fingers in her tiny fist. It’s the most adorable thing ever, because her lips purse all serious-like, and she looks so proud of herself when she lets my hand go. "Nice to meet you again!""Too!" She says, probably meaning 'Nice to meet you too!’ I enjoyed these little interactions with Sadie as well as her little brother, Simon, who w

Theon."Goddess," I exclaim, not taking my eyes off her for a single second. I literally cannot look away from Callista. She is dressed in a plum purple-colored, sleeveless dress that shows off her pale, shapely arms and perfect shoulders. The dress is held by her raised cleavage which squints tantalizingly over the shimmery fabric, cinched at her slim waist with a simple strap of fabric, and the bottom skirt is shorter on the front while being longer in the back, nearly touching her ankle. There is a layer of gossamer purple fabric over the skirt, and it adds a voluptuous effect. She wears a single gold chain on her long neck, along with the crystal ring she always wears. Her hair is tied in an elaborate bun on the top of her head, but her bangs fall framing her face, lightly curved. On her ears are dangling earrings, and thin chains of gold that fall from her earlobes like mini waterfalls. Her feet are encased in glass-like high-heeled shoes. The makeup on her face accentuates the

Callista.I cannot believe he's taking me to a human city!"Remember how you said that your dream was to go and visit a human city after your high school graduation?" Theon asks me out of the blue, making me turn towards him. He stares ahead at the road, carefully maneuvering the narrow streets. "Yeah," I reply giddily. "Of course, it’s been my dream for like…forever. All I wanted to do even back in the Leighwen pack was to get away, at least for a day, and see what the world had to offer.""Well, I know that you've been outside two times already now, but both times, you didn't really get to experience the best of what the city had to offer, right?" he inquires, although he knows the answer already.Because yes, the first time I was outside, I was homeless and trying to run away from the Rexellen pack. The less said about that the better. The second time, we'd been on a road trip to the Guild, and it was quick. We barely stopped at any cities and even when we did it was only for rest

"Doesn't that seem strange to you?"Theon squints at me, and opens his mouth to speak just as he looks down at his drink. His eyebrows hike up his scalp, and the next thing I know, he’s springing out of his chair, making it topple behind him, catching the surprised attention of all the guests on the dining floor."The ground is tremoring," he says, and then yells in a much higher voice. "Get the hell out of the building, there's an earthquake coming!"Just as he screams, a sudden jolt propels through the floor, and the restaurant descends into chaos. CallistaAs soon as I exit the room, I stumble upon a girl who screams upon seeing me.I arm myself with my chain, not caring about her age. She looks old enough to have found her bear. The chain is bundled up with the piece of the bed post and the padlock, giving it a good heft, and I for a fact know that it would knock her out with one strike. “No, please don't hit me, I'm innocent!” She raises her hands in her defense as she stumbles back against the wall.“Who are you?” I snarl, not believing her entirely.“I just work in the pack house, please, I got nothing to do with what's going on!” The girl pleads, her expression filled with panic and fear. “I'm the one who brought you the food so Master Xaveraq could take them to you!”A quick thought passes through my mind.“You know Xaveraq?” I demand and she nods. “I was the one tending to all his needs. My Alpha assigned me to him,” she answers, and I hold the chain and point to it.“In that case, you got any idea where the key to thi

CallistaI can't believe it, Theon is here!Theon is finally here! The sheer relief I feel as soon as I see him nearly brings me to my knees, and I can't help but cry out his name. He's battling two bears at once, expertly dodging their lumbering attacks and hitting them with some of his own. He's fast and he's precise, and in a few minutes, he manages to draw out blood. Next to him, Haden fights, targeting the bears who come toward Theon. They act as a team to take the bears down. Haden has a scratch on his back already, but it doesn't seem to bother him.I find myself screaming at them whenever a bear turns towards them, and every time Theon glances at me, I feel better than I did in the last few days. It's kind of pathetic in hindsight, I guess, but I don't care. This is the first time I'm seeing my mate after four days, and dammit, I'm going to be as sappy as I want. I have so many questions. How is the Rexellen pack? What happened to Farris and Elias? Is Elias really dead? How

TheonAs soon as the Headmistress gives us the signal, Ophelia lifts herself off the ground using her vines and shoots out of the trees. We follow her out, Haden and I shifted to our wolf forms, Master Tsertinand wielding his magical disc, Kiran holding two daggers that look lethal along with a multitude of amulets, and Leita with her vast knowledge of spells and ability to call any animal within the range. As soon as we burst through the tree line, I notice the house and the army of werebears. There might be three or four dozen of them surrounding the hunting lodge-style house that stands in the middle of a grassy field. Some of them are turned while many of them are still in their human forms.I noticed the Gamma who I fought against, Edwin Teller, in the front, standing with his claws out, ready to attack in any given movement. The Headmistress is standing facing a man who is not visible through the trees. The bears get ready to face the witches, and as soon as we appear, they st

CallistaI rush to the window of my room, thankful that the chain is long enough to allow me the movement, and throw open the windows. There is an army of werebears, both turned and in human form, surrounding the house, facing the forest from the east.Near the tree line stands a woman dressed in the white garb of the witches, flowing pants tucked into her boots, a white tunic over a long-sleeved bodice with a sash tied around her waist, and a scarf wound around her neck. Her snow-white hair is tied back from her face, and her pale eyes glisten with an ethereal light. She stands in a posture that radiates power, her head held high, her spine straight, standing tall against an army of bears.I can't help my astonishment. The Headmistress is here! Her eyes flick upwards to the window and focus on my face. They widen slightly, and I can't help but wave like a lunatic and scream, “I'm here! CallistaI can't sleep. I anticipated this before. Although the unrest outside had dwindled, I was still alert and wide awake, listening to every little sound. I'm pretty sure it's past midnight at the moment.I'm not a stranger to insomnia, but after having some good nights of sleeping blissfully before this whole fiasco started with Farris taking over the Rexellen pack, my old sleeping habits were making an appearance. The information the devil revealed today doesn't help me either. I still can't wrap my head around all of it.Of all the things to happen to me, I never expected that I'd end up a prisoner to an ancient being who killed thousands just because he wanted to ‘unify all races to save the world’. I mean, come on, that sounds like the plot of an action-packed Hollywood movie. And certainly not one with the supernatural in it. But that is the reality I'm living in. Both the earthquake and the Geraldine pack were his doing. How could he be so callous? So emotionless abou

Theon“Now, the deviless, who'd been raised apart from her parents because she was blessed as a deity, didn't know what love even was,” the Headmistress continues. “It was a different time than ours, and back then, even language was at its infancy. Books were not invented yet. When she asked her servants about the strange emotion she felt whenever she saw the devil they wouldn't give her a straight answer. The servants were certain that the deviless couldn't feel love the way the normal folk did. The poor deviless was confused about herself and decided to ask the young devil warrior for answers herself.”The Headmistress pauses to glance at the barrier, and then turns back to us. It's nearly midnight now, and fortunately, we haven't had any animals wander into the campsite so far. We heard some chirping and rustling here and there, but it was nothing big.My bet was that they were rabbits or squirrels, or some other critters that size. Haden and I were alert, nevertheless, just in cas

Theon“Where's Aldar?” Master Tsertinand asks, making way for the Headmistress to approach the camp. She's dressed unlike I've ever seen her before. The Headmistress usually opts for long dresses and cloaks that look gothic and ancient. But now she's dressed in a costume similar to what the protectors like Kiran wore while they were in the Guild, although it is pure white in color. The protector outfit suits her significantly, making it easier for her to blend with the surroundings and accentuate her strong frame. Her hair is tied back from her face in a severe style, highlighting her angular features. She wears rings studded with stones on all of her fingers, and a stone pendant around her neck. “She had to stay behind to take care of the Guild in my absence,” the Headmistress replies, smiling at all of us in greeting. “The Academy is very busy at this time of the year with the first years getting ready for the Annual festival. We're trying to save your damned owner!”The ring, of course, does not answer. “We nearly ran into the barrier when we saw it,” Haden chimes in next to me, having transformed back himself. “Your bird was a great help.”As we say that, the bird itself arrives, chirping. It spirals around us, nearly touching us, and then flies straight towards Master Tsertinand. As soon as it collides with the weapon smith's body, it vanishes. “Did you call the Headmistress?” I question, pulling on my clothes. They're at the same spot I left them. I was never a fan of causing an unnecessary ruckus, and the earthquake did exactly that. It even sapped up some of my own powers in doing so, that I had to absorb more souls to compensate,” Xaveraq says. “Anyway, after that-”“Woah, Woah, Woah,” I stand up from my bed, my heart beating fast in my chest.I'm trying to piece together this puzzle in my head with all the information I'm being given. That part of absorbing souls, whatever that may be, rings a bell in my mind.A very disturbing bell.“So, where did you get your souls?” I demand.“Is that really important at the moment, Callista?” Xaveraq questions in a bored tone. “I thought you wanted to know how I found you.”“Tell me where you got the souls from,” I insist, feeling dread mount within me.I desperately hope he would not
