Uneasiness

After dropping the kids off, I drive to their new school, which is only about a ten minute drive from our house, or a fifteen minute walk.

I put on some sunglasses as I enter and I walk straight to the offices. No one has been rude to me in a long time, since my father disappeared and has stopped bothering all of us, but I still don't feel completely safe in full rich spaces, like this school.

The tuition is so fucking expensive that my heart stops before I remember I can afford it. For now.

"Uhm, is there an option to pay it all up front?" I ask. The lady attending to me just looks at me in confusion, “The whole education journey, until senior year. For both of them.”

"Uhm," she frowns and looks back to her computer, "For the little guy, that would be eleven years. Do you want to pay eleven years up front?"

"Can I?" I ask, she looks confused and tells me the estimate of how much it would be. It’s the price of a car, a very expensive one, "Okay... can I pay five years at least?"
