Missed My Way

“What are you doing here? I have been looking for you everywhere,” the girl from before appeared in front of Sam who has walked the halls in circles still looking for her room.

Sam bent over, her hand to her chest, breathing in pants. “ I missed my way.” She simply said, unable to tell the girl the main reason why she had run off by herself.

“Okay, let’s go. The room is over there,” the girl pointed ahead of them and began walking. Sam only nodded mildly and walked after her, her spirit still much dampened from the cold treatment of her supposed mate.

“Here we go!” the girl thrilled stopping in front of the familiar door of Sam. Sam cursed within, recalling she had passed the hall that led to her room but had been too traumatized to recognize it.

“I will bring you a meal immediately.” The girl left afterward, leaving Sam staring after her.

She craved to take a stroll but she knew better, so she pushed the door and went in.

Sitting on her bed, her mind tried to dissect what just happened to her back there. She wanted to feel repelled by his animalistic behavior toward her. For crying out loud he is supposed to be my mate.

What we did is deemed to be intimate for mates if only he had treated me kindly!

The very thought of what had happened between them back there made her body flush anew with want. Of course, any woman would crave more after such an encounter. He was a dream. However, he didn’t see her as a dream.

He saw her as his slave. His sexual slave.

Sam stood and walked to the window to look outside. The outside seemed serene with not a soul abiding. Only lush ground and meadows gazing back at her in mock dismissal.

The door opened slightly, and the girl walked back in bearing her food. “A new development just came up. The Beta said the Alpha ordered you should be made busy within the pack house.”

Sams’s heart soared at the news. That means she could go out of the room.

“Okay,” she breathes out, coming back to sit on her bed.

“I will return to take you to the pack infirmary to help out with taking care of the pups and aged back there,” she said and walked to the door. “Please hurry up, the Alpha is very indifferent when his order is not heeded to punctually. No one wants to be on his bad side,”

“I will,” Sam replied despairingly and the door banged.

Sam sat there staring at the food with no appetite. Work at the infirmary? She has never worked in an infirmary, not to mention taking care of pups and the aged. What manner of trouble has she gotten herself into by stepping in this pack? He should have just killed me than to want to torture me this way. She grieved.

Sam wasn’t a pup person. She had problems relating to their constant whimpering and mischief. Back at her pack when her parents were still alive, her mother had placed Sam in the Alpha’s house to work, and then she, in turn, had done to the infirmary to work, so that Sam doesn’t have to do it.

Sam exhaled and started eating the food half-mindedly.

“Don’t sweat it, Sam,”

The spoon in her hand fell off immediately and she looked about in fright.

Someone just spoke to her now. Did she__no it’s not possible.

The voice snickered, and this time it was clear as day_It was from within her. Her wolf! She just heard her wolf! She has never spoken to her wolf before since she turned eighteen last year.

“I am here, very real,”

“The hell you are! Where have you been all this while?” Sam asked, her spirit elated to the maximum.

“I was here.” The voice returned. “ I didn’t want to show early. I am not cozy with stress,” she said and yawned.

Sam rolled her eyes. What a thing to say after not showing up for more than a year. “Wait, does that mean I can transform?” she was already standing, the food forgotten.

“No, you can’t. You will have to deal with having only m__” Sam.s face fell as her butt found the bed once more. If only she wo__

“I’m just kidding! Of course, you can transform. Why am I here?”

Sam leaped up, at the same time the door flew open and the girl’s face appeared. Her eyes roamed about the room in consternation. Sam knew why.

“Are you okay?” the girl asked and came in fully.

Sam’s head was bobbing inwardly begging her wolf to keep shut.

“I would have sworn I heard a voice, and then when I opened the door you were_”

“Practicing,” the word flew out before she could do stop them. “I was practicing how to…to take care of the pups. You know pups can be very…very hectic if you know what I mean,”

The girl surveyed Sam for an ounce deciding whether to agree with her or not. Finally, “Oh, yeah. They truly can. Which is why you should be glad that they already have Mrs. Berkley. Yours is just to assist her.” She said.

Sam tightened her lips and accompanied the girl’s information with a slight smile. “Of course,” was all she could contribute.

“Why is your food still untouched? We have to__”

“Im not hungry. Maybe later,” she hurried to ahead if the girl to the door, longing to be away from the confines of the wall as soon as possible.

“Okay if you say so. You will have a different story to tell by midday.”

True to the girl’s words, it wasn’t even close to midday when Sam’s stomach threatened to betray her if not fed. She wobbled about the place on unsteady legs as her vision almost failed her.

Her wolf has been mute since she arrived at the facility as if they had an unspoken agreement that she wasn’t expected to talk until Sam got home. Sam appreciated that. She couldn’t wait to get home so they could talk about a lot of things including giving names.

“Sam would be kind enough to scrub Mrs. Carpenters’ ward. News just arrived that the Alpha would be coming for inspection. It’s exciting news since he hasn’t done that for ages,” Mrs. Berkley the pack’s nurse, informed Sam with a smile and walked off.

Sam watched after her with a heavy heart. The Alpha was coming to the infirmary? If it had been long he came here, why does he have the need to suddenly? Is this his form of making sure she is tortured enough?

With the cleaning bucket and mop, Sam made her way to the ward to start scrubbing. She wouldn’t want to gain the wrath of the Alpha more than she already has.

Meanwhile, Alpha Amal was already on his way to the infirmary in an insensitive spirit.

The warriors were already in battle, fighting off the rogues. Sam knew she had to help. She quickly joined the fight, using the skills she had taught the warriors. She fought fiercely, taking down rogue after rogue. After what seemed like hours, the battle was won. The pack had emerged victorious, thanks to the warriors and Sam. As she walked back to her office, she was met with cheers and applause from

From where he was in the hall, her father's hand shot up in a little wave, and applause and a few laughs followed it. “I would also like to thank some very special women, and I'll need your help. I need them to stand up, all the girls from the mansion, could you please rise up?” When nobody moved, she gestured at the table to call them herself. “Elan, Charity, Nora, Sam! Get up here!” When all four of them got up from their chairs and moved towards the podium, the hall erupted in applause, causing blotches of color to form in the cheeks of all four women. “These are the women who made today so wonderful. From the food options to the flowers and the dresses and your comfort, these are the women who made things happen. They were the ones who made me comfortable, and helped me relax throughout this very stressful process, and I think they deserve their flowers. Charity was the one who heralded the dresses and my comfort, going with me to get the best dress possible, for my comfort an

Zack had been standing at the Altar, and Sam thought she had seen a year drop from his eyes, and Alpha Amal's too. The two men had developed an understanding that Sam knew nothing about, and her husband was part of his party. A photographer ran forward and captured a picture of the moment, and Sam felt her cheeks begin to throb from how wide her smile was. The officiant walked forward - a man from town - and began to join the couple in matrimony. Everyone gushed over how adorable the couple was as the wedding went on, and a collective breath was held when he asked if there were any objections to the wedding. There were none, and Sam was glad. Soon, the ceremony was over, and the newly wedded couple walked out of the chapel, getting pelted by rice and flower petals. Sam wondered if they would be left to walk all the way to the reception area, but then decided against it. She got into one of the cars that she and Alpha Amal had brought from the mansion along with Charity and the gi

“None of us here know Sam as well as I do. And I want to tell you all that she has been through quite a lot. A lot more than anyone should have to go through, and we should celebrate her because of how strong she is. How beautiful and kind she is. How patient and loving. We should all be thankful that we know her!”Everyone laughed, but glasses were clinked again, with Sam beaming over at her drunken best friend. That night, they stayed talking about everything and nothing till the wee hours of the morning, the women setting themselves apart from the men.Paisley's wedding was in a week, and preparations were in place. She had been questioning if reception should be held in the town hall, and Sam agreed that it needed a lot of thought, especially if she wanted to invite everyone in town.“I don't know, I think my estate is bigger than the town hall, and it can hold more people. And since the food is being made in my home, if anything runs out, it can quickly be replenished, you kno

No more was said of Alpha Amal's father, calls had stopped coming in, and Sam's nightmares had ended almost as soon as they had begun. Vivian, Dave and Dan were now permanent fixtures around them, and every few minutes, they could be seen following Sam and Alpha Amal. She had finally moved all her things into Alpha Amal's room permanently, allotting that room to the guards to rotate in, so they could watch them. The central door was kept permanently locked, so no one would barge in or walk in on anyone dressing. It worked for everyone, mostly because the guards were permanently aware of whatever actions were being taken.Sam had - surprisingly - gotten used to their presence, and no longer resented that she couldn't go anywhere without a shadow. She had befriended Vivian and gotten to know her, so it felt more like she was hanging out with a friend than she was being watched. Alpha Amal on the other end had gotten flustered with every single visit of his guards. Dave and Dan would e

The day is going fine, and I am actually reconsidering my decision on birthdays, until he comes in.”Alpha Amal looked in between his wife and his grandmother, wondering if he had missed something. “Am I missing something, guys? Who comes in?”“Elder Mark. He is angry, and as a wolf, in the dream, he cha he's at the party and barrels straight for me, ripping me apart. In the dream, I die before I can see anything, but this time around I actually saw you die first, Amal. He mangled you beyond recognition, and killed me, so he could use my head as a warning to other people. I think we should be worried about him, Amal.”Alpha Amal put his hand on his chin to think about it, and then immediately he had processed what she had just said, he held out his hand to Sam. “How long has this been happening? And why didn't you tell me? I would have listened.”“I just didn't want to worry you. Things have been going so well and now I'm having stupid dreams about stupid men and things that are prob
