GIANNA
I forced myself to step away from him before I lost my control. He smirked at me and just held my hand. He didn’t try to pull me closer anymore, we just walked and talked some more. We returned to the event when the guests had started to leave. Helena was already gone, thank the goddess. I didn’t know what I would have done if she still remained here to cause trouble.
“Would it be okay if I come visit you here tomorrow?” Bryant asked me.
“You’re free to.” I replied.
“I’m asking so your Alpha won’t send his warriors after me when I arrive. He seems really protective of you.”
“You can visit, Bryant. I promise not to chase you away. As long as you respect yourself around Gianna, and make sure not to give her any trouble.” Enzo interrupted our conversation as he got close enough to hear what we were saying.
“Okay then. I appreciate you giving your permission for me to enter your pack undeterred.” Alpha Bryant nodded at Enzo, and then kissed the back of my hand.
He left his scent on my skin as he bade me good night and left.
“You have stars in your eyes, Gianna. Should I be worried?” Enzo said as he nudged me with my elbow.
“There’s nothing to worry about. I have no plans to get a new mate anytime soon.” I replied as we went inside the pack house together.
That response wasn’t enough to get him off my back. He just smirked and put his hand over my shoulder to pull me close so I wouldn’t be able to easily escape him.
“And yet, his scent is all over you. Gigi and Bryant, sitting on a tree, K I S S I…”
“Stop that!” I lightly hit him on the ribs as he started singing about me and Bryant kissing. “You’re an Alpha for crying out loud, and one in charge of a pack for that matter. You’re a grown ass male. You shouldn’t be teasing me like we’re little pups.”
He just laughed. “You’re my sister. I get to tease you anytime I want. Besides, we never had the chance to grow up together completely. So I’ll enjoy having a little sister to annoy now that we’re finally reunited.”
He was right. Despite the fact that I told him to stop teasing me like a child, I had to admit that it made me feel safer. I felt cherished like never before. Helena was the only sibling I had while growing up, and we never had this type of close relationship.
“Bryant seems like a good male. You may not want to be mated, but there’s no harm in having someone to be close to. Besides, now you have me to protect you, so if he tries anything or hurts you in any way, I will make sure he regrets it for the rest of his life.” He kissed my forehead and led me to my room.
“Good night brother.”
“Good night. If you dream of Bryant, make sure it’s not 18+” He winked and dodged the smack I was aiming at him before walking away with a loud laugh.”
“Seems like you had a good night.” Nalia, one of the pack betas that had ordained herself as my closest friend asked as she barged into my room unannounced several minutes later.
The beta had a boisterous personality, and not everyone could handle that. She was always so hyper active, and bubbly. She also spoke really fast, and loved to gossip. Her extroverted character was well suited to my more introverted nature. I wished I had a friend like her while growing up. Maybe I would have had an easier time adjusting, and being more social if anyone bothered to befriend me like she was trying to.
“I want all the details. I was too busy trying to wrangle the pups and trying to prevent them from disrupting the whole event.” She bounced on my bed.
“Nothing much happened.” I just shrugged, because I knew Nalia.
If I tell her one thing, we’ll end up talking about everything else, both significant and insignificant, till daybreak. And I was quite tired.
“Oh come one. I heard there was an incident involving you, but I refused to listen while the others were discussing because I wanted to hear it directly from you.”
I sighed as she pouted. She was cute and she knew it. It was hard to resist her when she was being so adorable.
I told her the short version of what happened, and she was annoyed at Marco’s presence. But she laughed when I explained Helena’s gem obsession, and she squealed when I talked about Alpha Bryant.
“And he’s coming here tomorrow. We have to find something pretty for you to wear. Alpha Bryant is one of the top Alphas in the country. Your brother is high on the list too, but you can’t be with him for obvious reasons. You could be Pack Luna for…”
“I’m not interested in finding a mate at the moment, Nalia.” I interrupted her before she could finish speaking.
“I know you had a bad experience with your former mate, but you should still give love a chance. Alpha Bryant is a good male.”
“I know he’s a good male, I’m just not ready. For now, we’re just friends meeting up to spend some time together.” I responded with a shrug.
“Okay. But you still have to look pretty.”
“It’s late, Nalia. Tomorrow morning, I’ll let you gush over what I should wear as much as you want. For now, I just want to sleep.” I said and she nodded, then leaned closer to kiss me on my forehead.
“Sleep tight.”
She left my room, and I stared at the ceiling. Everyone keeps telling me to move on, but it’s not so easy. Not much time has passed since my separation from Marco. A new mating at this moment would be too much to handle at the moment, right?
I eventually fell asleep, but then I had a weird dream. I was running in the woods in my wolf form, not out of fear, but out of excitement. Three other wolves were chasing me, all males. They yipped and howled behind me, coming close enough to nip at my tail, but letting me go further ahead.
This was a mating run. Only mated wolves go on mating runs. Why would I be going on a mating run with not one, but three wolves. The scene shifted, and now it was just me and Enzo.
“Gianna. Where are you?” He yelled my name repeatedly.
I was right in front of him, yet he couldn’t see me.
“Enzo! Enzo! I’m right here.”
“Gianna! Come back to me please.”
“Enzo. I’m here. Look at me.” I tried to touch him, but something unseen was dragging me backward, away from him.
No! I just found my real family. I don’t want to get lost again. I tried fighting back, and then I bolted upright in my bed. I was soaked in sweat, and my hands were shaking. I’m just glad I didn’t scream and wake anyone up.
GIANNAI bit my lips and stared off into space as the nightmare I had the previous night replayed continually in my head. Every picture that appeared into my head sent me goosebumps down my spine. The first dream was just confusing, but the second one was terrifying. I never wanted to feel lost or unseen, and that was exactly how I felt in that dream.“Gianna!” Enzo’s concerned voice cut into my thoughts, making me flinch in surprise. I turned my head towards him and I could see the worry and concern written all over his face. “Sis, what is wrong? Why are you so pale?”At first, I was confused as to when Enzo appeared beside me, but after looking around, I realized that we were both sitting at the dining table and our breakfast had even been served. What was wrong with me? Was I so shaken by a nightmare that I didn’t even realize where I was. This needed to stop. It was only a dream. Seeing that he was still awaiting my response, I forced out a smile to reduce his worries. “Sorry. I
GIANNAI immediately turned back to the direction his voice had come from. And there he was, his eyes set in a glare that was directed at Bryant.“What are you doing here?” I asked harshly, with a frown. Do the guards perhaps just let anyone in? How did he get in?He turned his head in my direction, his grimace changing into a smile I knew was definitely not sincere. I mean, I was with him for a long while. Long enough to know that right now, although he was smiling, he was most definitely not happy.I said I wouldn’t let myself be affected by him, but I unconsciously found myself growing uncomfortable as little thoughts of self-doubt started entering my head.“Of course I'm here to my mate, silly. Why else would I be here?”“Ex mate. You rejected me. You always seem to forget that.”“You’re really becoming a nuisance.” Bryant said with a sigh.“What the heck are you on about?” Marco barked, voiced laced with venom.Bryant stepped forward till he was standing right in front of Marco.
GIANNA“You’re seriously agreeing to this? He’s just trying to provoke you, and you’re falling for it.” I faced Bryant, anger bubbling through my veins.Did I look like a doormat or a trophy?“I understand that this makes you angry but..” Bryant tried to explain but I immediately cut in.“Oh it makes me angry, all right. And you don’t understand anything about me, because if you did, you wouldn’t agree to such a dangerous thing.” My voice had begun to rise at this point. “Who gave you or him the right to fight for me? Did I ever say I would accept either of you even if you did this? I was wrong to think you to be a rational person. Maybe you’re just as crazy as that jerk over there.” I pointed at Marco without a glance at him.I didn’t even care what Marco's expression looked like. All I wanted was for them to stop the madness.“Gia dear.” Enzo started softly as he placed a hand on my shoulders in a bid to calm me down. I spun and faced his direction.“I’m sorry that the pack allows
GIANNAEveryone in the arena immediately went quiet. Even I couldn't help but shiver as I clamped my mouth shut unconsciously, although I was never speaking. His gaze swept through the crowd like a hawk eyeing for its prey and a tense and heavy air engulfed the whole venue. Alpha's dominance was rightfully feared.“Do you people think that what is happening here is a cheerful thing? Do you fancy the idea of people killing and tearing at each other just for your entertainment?” His gaze kept sweeping through every face in the crowd as he spoke with power.“No it is not. I would not tolerate the members of my pack being excited over unnecessary violence, blood and gore. If we were in danger, and violence is needed, then I will support your excitement. For now, tone it down”I turned back to see a lot of the spectators lowering their heads in shame. He was a really great Alpha. Some others would encourage their packs to cheer unnecessary bloodlust, and encourage senseless violence. That
GiannaI watched in absolute horror as Bryant lay in the middle of the open arena bleeding from the claw wounds that Marco had just inflicted on him.Marco didn't let up and he had to be dragged off of Bryant's body as he kept going because Bryant never surrendered. He growled and struggled like a maniac and caused the guards to let him go.They immediately blocked his path to Bryant and he raised his bloody hands in surrender with a satisfied smile on his face.Watching all this unfold, I felt bile begin to rise to my throat. All I could do was struggle to hold in my vomit. Meanwhile Bryant had lost consciousness and wasn't moving. Fear and panic like no other began to claw at my chest.Didn't Enzo say that no one would get badly hurt? Why is Bryant covered in a pool of his own damn blood then? Everyone seemed to be in just the same state as me as they all gaped. Soon murmurs began to rise from all sides but still no one took a step forward to stop them. I suddenly found myself taki
GIANNAEnzo smirked as he shrugged. He seemed to have a talent for reading my thoughts. Not that I was complaining. It made it easier than to voice out my concerns.I turned back to Marco whose eyes were now open. He looked confused at first but after probably remembering what happened, his face turned red with embarrassment. His eyes almost turned into slits as he glared at Enzo with hatred in his eyes. He started to stand, failing miserably multiple times due to weak state. A bloody gash laid on his arm, probably from the collision. I was baffled how I could feel so much pain when Bryant, an almost stranger was hurt, and I couldn't feel a thing for Marco, my ex mate who I even shared a bed with.I admit that the passion we had burned, although dimly, anytime we were close but it still wasn't enough. Now that I looked back at it, Marco lacked a lot of things and had a ton of bad flaws. He was arrogant, rude, pompous, violent and thrived on putting down the self esteem or those he cl
GIANNA"Come back with us Gianna, we miss you so much back at home." Hearing those words, I couldn't say that my heart didn't sway even a tad bit. It did, but along with the feeling that came with wanting to be loved by them, the horrid memories of what had happened that day.I could remember how much hope I had for them despite how they always favored Helena. The rogues had taunted me by revealing that my so-called parents didn't hesitate to throw me away and pick Helena even though I knew that they were well to do enough to save both of us. Back then, I remembered that I had refused to believe it as I held on to false hope. but when the truth eventually sunk in that I had been left for dead by those I loved, I was absolutely shattered. It broke me into pieces.I was still struggling to pick up those pieces with Enzo lending a helping hand and now they showed up again to what? To take me back? They wanted me to abandon my own brother? To leave the pack where I was being treated as r
"I don't care for the reason you're giving me. All I know is that you let a young child who grew up in a well to do family, work endlessly to raise herself. That is bullshit to me, and it speaks volumes on what kind of life she led in your place."Helena's father was stumped, unable to utter another word."I realize that what my parents did was very wrong and I apologize sincerely for that." Helena, who had stayed silent for a while, finally spoke up.I glanced at her only to almost roll my eyes when I saw her eyes misting over with unshed tears.Did she think that her sad puppy eyes could solve everything??She continued, not glancing at my direction in the slightest. Her eyes were focused on Enzo. "In fact, we all want to atone for our sins which is why we're here today."She then turned to me and stared at me with such pitiful eyes that people who didn't understand the situation would instantly blame me."I'm sorry, big sis. No, I misspoke. I'm sorry. I mean Gianna. I know we did y
Enzo’s POVI landed carelessly on my king-sized bed. My whole body felt sore, and my head was pounding as the events of the day finally caught up to me.I hoped to relax but I knew that it was not possible, as being pack Alpha had its perks but the strains and limitations outweighed it all. Still I wouldn’t give up my position as I had a duty to uphold; both for my sister and my parents who were already long gone.I swept my hand through my hair, hoping to at least serve as some sort of relief or half assed attempt at a massage. I already know that this time of rest is only temporary. As if the universe heard me, a knock soon came from the door. I let out a frustrated groan. You could have at least given me up to ten more minutes!!I sat up and patted myself down as I wanted to look more presentable – more like an Alpha than the tired mess I was.“Come in”The door creaked open and in walked a burly looking guard I recognized to be the one in charge of my secret dungeons. Yes, I di
Rina’s POV“Ughh” I groaned as I felt as if my whole body had been ravaged by a pack of beasts. My throat felt dry and my eyes felt heavy as I tried my best to pry them open. The last thing I could remember was trying to fake an illness and then when it didn’t work, that stupid and ungrateful bitch, Gianna, threw me out. I could feel more memories trying to surge into my head all at once, and it gave me an intense migraine as I shook my head as much as my sore body could allow. Why did I feel so much pain and why did my bed feel so hard, cold and damp?I knew that the hideout we used for transactions and illegal meetings smelt awful, but it was even more so today. The whole room reeked of manure, piss and blood?Wait, blood?Just like that, it finally clicked. The memories that my brain was desperately trying to let in, showed. How we were captured, how that unreasonable brute tortured my husband in front of me and how he tried to torture me but since I couldn’t handle it, I blacked
He crouched and touched my chin making me flinch. I tried to lean back but his grip only got tighter.“I can see that you are trying to shift. I advise that you don't, as it would be a colossal waste of time. The drug I gave you guys will make you unable to tap into your wolf for at least three days. It's quite illegal but effective.”I froze. Since that didn't work, I decided to try and appeal to his conscience. “Please don't do this.” My voice came out raspy and hoarse due to not using it for a while instead of being sexy and cute like I wanted, making me wince.Still I hoped it would be enough. It wasn't.His hand wrapped around my throat and he squeezed, cutting off my air supply and I spluttered as I tried to breathe.“Now why would such a pretty and smart fox like you try to use such a trick? That just made me extremely mad. Your seduction tactics can only succeed on weaker males.”He paused and stared at her for a few seconds before he spoke again.“You see I hate females like
Helena’s POV“My dear Luna! Helena dear.” I opened my eyes as I heard my name, blinking rapidly to try and adjust to the sudden brightness.Once I was well adjusted to the light, I tried to remember where I was. No matter how hard I tried though, I found that I couldn't piece together anything though.I tried moving my limbs and I was able to realize two things.First, I was standing upright, and right in front of a floor to ceiling length mirror. How I had dozed off in that state was beyond me.Two, I was dressed in a luxurious looking gown with a shimmery wreath crown made up of flowers and diamonds perched on my head.Sure, I looked stunning but I was confused. What was going on?“My Luna.” That raspy male voice from earlier called again and I jumped turning my head sideways so fast I was sure it would give me whiplash.I had forgotten that someone was there.A raven haired handsome looking man was staring at me, his eyes speaking volumes on his worry, confusion and affection? Was
HELENA’S POV“You’re an absolute fool! Why can’t you do anything right for once in your miserable life?” I screamed at my ridiculous mother who had the audacity to look wronged after the idiotic crap she pulled.“Don’t even give me such a look. How could you fuck up something as faking a damn illness?” She flinched and ran to hide behind my father who was obviously not pleased with the turn of events. What a wimp. Absolutely useless. If only I wasn’t maintaining a certain image, the goddess herself wouldn’t have saved this wretch form being torn into pieces.Stupid bitch.“Enough!” My father roared, eyes ablaze with anger. I rolled my eyes, while that wimpy bitch jumped and took a few steps away from him.Why was this old dude trying to scare? He probably forgot who held all the cards. Me. They should have tried harder to get me into Alpha Enzo’s pack.“Stop talking to your mother this way. No matter how much of a mistake she made, she’s still your mother. Also, you keep forgetting t
ENZOI watched Gia run off, a happy grin on my face. This was the second time she had told me that she loved me but it didn’t make it any less a happy occasion for me.Back when I had found out about my little sister still being alive, at first, I had my doubts as to if I could accept the presence of another after being alone for so long. I have lived my life wary of everyone and unwilling to let anyone in, so I was unsure if I would be able to let her in.That all changed though when I set my eyes on her face – so alike to that of our mother – so beautiful. I knew right there and then that she was going to be the only reason I lived. She was going to be my first thought in everything.I was also afraid she would never be able to fully accept me as her family. But I was just worried for nothing.I had vowed to make sure that she never suffers any grievances which is why immediately I was sure she was out of hearing range, the smile on my face dropped and I spoke to my Beta, Ian, throu
GiannaAfter that, all I could hear was the tiny yet foolish hope I had harbored shattering over the awkward bout of pointless explanation that Hector and his family tried to do to salvage the situation, despite knowing fully well that they were done for.I can't believe I let myself get tripped up despite all they did to me before. Despite how much I had faced at their hands - betrayal and heartbreak alike.I couldn't sit still anymore. I couldn't look them in the face. I couldn't watch them as they tried to convince Enzo of how they meant no harm, and how they were saying the truth.Even now that their mask had been brutally pulled off, they still didn't care for me who they supposedly came to bring home.My lips were trembling but I bit down on it with my teeth, trying to stop myself from screaming like a lunatic.I could see realization appear on their faces and then Helena still had the guts to approach me with fake tears in her eyes. “Gianna, please believe us. Enzo,” she coughe
GIANNAMy head turned so fast to Rina that I was sure I would have whiplash. I could feel my heartbeat begin to speed up as panic and fear started to take root in me. "I.. is it true? Are you dying?" My voice was trembling. She looked startled at first at my question, but soon her face turned somber and she lowered her head and bit her lips as if contemplating if she should reply or not."I didn't expect or want Helena to tell you about my condition. I'm sorry." Rina said.A stifling feeling engulfed my chest making it hard to breathe. She continued, her eyes wet with unshed tears. "I know that it's sudden and I planned to take it to my grave - I mean I didn't even know that it would come to this. This was the main reason our family became short of cash and wasn't able to save you from those rogues."I flinched, memories I wanted to bury being pushed up again. Could this possibly be true? Or was I just letting myself be deceived again? Or maybe I wanted to hope they weren't completel
