"What is this?" she whispered to herself as her heart began to beat faster and harder than before.
From the door, she heard the shuffling of footsteps and she turned to look at the door.
The footsteps grew louder. Definitely, someone was passing through. After some seconds, it abated meaning that the person had passed.
It must have been a student, she thought as she looked back at the mysterious hole before her.
All things being normal, she would have called on the school's authority to come check out what it was but she didn't trust them. She didn't know why but she just didn't.
She looked around the room, in search for a torch or something that could direct her. She planned on going down there although it seemed like a foolish thing to do.
The first thing her eyes landed on were on the wall clock. She had spent two extra minutes making a total of seven.
She looked
Without much stress, Sarah's wolf dodged all of Harold's attacks. She moved back seconds before one of his paws clawed her face and shifted to her left before he sank his canines into her skin. It was almost like she knew of every move he was going to make even before he thought of making them. She was definitely steps ahead of him. That was the upper hand experience gave to her.She kept dodging all his attacks, making him waste his energy while she preserved hers. It was common sense but at that moment, Harold seemed to lack that.If Trisha was awake and seeing all that was happening, she'd have somehow, found a way to turn the tables. Unfortunately, she was just healing from the attack of Sarah thanks to Derek who was with Wilkes, making sure no harm came to him. When Harold's wolf was becoming to grow weary, the white wolf of Sarah held its right ear in her jaw and dragged it hard.Harold's wolf
As Derek landed on the ground, he rolled off the wolf, not minding the sharp edges of the unleveled earth that dug into his skin, before he looked at the third person who had appeared out of nowhere. He looked at her face for a few seconds longer not minding Sarah's wolf who was getting up on its paws. Whoever it was, he hoped the person was on their side. If not, they were doomed. She had an oblong face, a pale white skin, short curly hair that made her look a little like a male and a scowl that had been on her face since she'd been knocked off her feet (literally) - to her surprise. She was looking at him, too, wondering what on earth he was doing down there."Brie?" Derek whispered barely able to contain his excitement. He knew her because she was a friend of his sister. To be more exact, an acquaintance. They had been good friends but not anymore. She knew he was one of the three contestants chosen but things be
Unlike the others who were present, Brie was still fresh, filled with energy and although baffled at having been tossed into a battle, enthusiastic. She dodged all of Sarah's attacks, planted a few of hours which she missed, too. All the same, she was very much in tune with her wolf. They spoke, exchanged ideas, calculated and reasoned together before any step was taken. And they did that fast enough to avoid wastage of time. One time, Brie had just dodged a massive blow from Sarah's jaw. She knew what she wanted to do next. She had all of it planned out but she wasn't fast enough. After the punch was dodged, Sarah's wolf used the momentum to her advantage. She spun around, wiped her tail on Brie's face - which was one of the greatest forms of disrespect, before planting her hind legs which were much stronger than the fore ones into her face.As the paws connected with her face, Brie was pushed backwards.
Although all of them remained behind, Harold walked to where Brie was and together, they watched as Sarah became her human form back.“It's nice to see you,” Harold whispered to her when he stood beside her. They both had their gazes on Sarah but to keep things cool between them, Harold said what he did.“Everyone has been wondering why you all aren't back,” she said. “Have you been here since the contest began?”Harold was silent for some seconds. He was close to a hundred percent thanks to his lycanthropic blood that meant he healed fast. The problem was that Sarah healed a lot faster. Too fast.“No, not since it began. We went into the forest for some days.” He paused or some seconds as Sarah stood on her feet. “But things happened and we are here now.”“Who won the orb?” Brie pushed further.&ldquo
"Will you please let go of her?" Harold asked, referring to his stepmother. It was bad enough that it was through her body that all this evil was being carried out but it was even worse that it was something she could do in real life."Not until I find someone else, embittered and just as strong as she is."As she spoke, Trisha sketched a theory in her head. It wasn't much but better than nothing. It was most likely something Harold won't like but it seemed to be the only way out.If they were able to weaken her body till it was almost limp an unmoving, Sarah will be forced to leave her body."How were you able to become a spirit although you were once a wolf?" Trisha asked. She didn't know why buy she felt like buying more time."It a long story," Sarah said, "there's no time for that." She paused for a while, "do you see why I can't be killed?""Because your sister won't allow it,
When they had all descended on Sarah to the extent that she couldn't move, they stopped and surrounded her. She had made a mistake by telling them how she was able to recover quickly and now, they were going to use it against her.Slowly, Sarah's human form resurfaced and for the first time in a long while, she was bleeding. There was a long cut on the edge of her lips and out of it blood seeped. Her jawline had some bruises and when she managed to get on her feet, they could all see that her right arm was bent to an odd angle. It was not until she was in her human form that they realised that they had done more damage than they intended. It had been hard to know how much torture they had inflicted on her when she still was a wolf. When she stood on her feet, they all stood at alert, expecting her to try something funny. If after being banished from where she lived when she was younger, had survived in the wild and
When Sarah had answered Trisha's question and it was obvious Harold and the others hadn't made up their minds on what to do with her, she began to get on her feet.“Stop right there!” Harold said suddenly and all eyes fell on him. He sounded unlike himself. His voice held authority, confidence and self-assurance.Sarah cocked her head sideways, causing her hair to drop then she smiled.“Do you have anything to do to me, son?” she asked. Her voice was sultry, held a touch of mock and spiteful pity. Her eyes were locked into Harold's.Without answering her, Harold transformed to a wolf and began to run towards her.All things being normal, she would have stayed on a spot and allow him do all that he wanted to do. They'll be killing her sister, the Moon Goddesses after all, not her, but her wolf had other plans. When Harold was about to bump into her,
Trisha and Harold looked right again, away from Sarah's smiling face and their eyes settled on their friends. They were all on the ground, bleeding and groaning in pain. There was only one person standing and he had his head bowed not in shame. No, but rather, to spawn mystery. It was Derek."Never underestimate what I can do," Sarah said with an evil chuckle. Harold turned to look at her while Trisha had her eyes on Derek in case he wanted to try anything funny. "If you do then you can be rest assured that you're dead."She paused for some seconds, allowing her words sink in."You thought you killed all of my minions: the ghouls but no. You all failed to recognise and kill the one who was by far the most dangerous."Due to their close proximity, Trisha and Harold were able to communicate effectively without having to bother that Sarah and Derek were eavesdropping. The others were still writhi
