I slowly came to, my senses foggy and disoriented. My head was spinning, and I couldn't make sense of anything. The sound of feet shuffling around me was the first thing that registered, followed by the feeling of something heavy on my forehead.

As I struggled to open my eyes, a gentle voice spoke to me, "Welcome back, dear. Can you hear me?"

I nodded, my throat dry and parched. My eyes fluttered open, and I was met with the kind face of a woman with a warm smile as she pulled her hand back from my forehead. She had a stethoscope around her neck and a clipboard in her hand. She smelled of lavender on a Saturday morning. So soothing.

"Hi, I'm Dr. April," she said, her voice as soothing as her scent and smile. "You're safe now. You're in your bedroom, and you're going to be okay."

I tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over me, forcing me back onto the bed. Dr. April gently pushed me back, her hands firm but gentle.

"Easy, dear. You need to rest. Can you tell me your name?"

_Ryker’s POV_I stormed into my study, slamming the door behind me with a force that rattled the windows. My wolf, sensing my anger, stirred restlessly within me, its growl a low, menacing rumble that echoed through the room. I paced back and forth, my footsteps heavy and deliberate, as I struggled to contain the fury that threatened to consume me.My mind replayed the doctor's words, each one a spark that fueled the fire of my anger. Malnourished. Dehydrated. Physical abuse. The thought of anyone harming Arianna, of laying a hand on her, made my blood boil. My wolf snarled in agreement, and it was taking everything to keep him in as I paced the room relentlessly.I couldn't understand why I was so concerned. Arianna was just another tool in my game, a way to break the curse that had haunted me for years. But the thought of her being hurt, of her suffering at the hands of someone else, filled me with a rage that I couldn't contain.I was the only one that had the right to hurt her. I lay in bed, my mind reeling with everything I’d heard that morning. Ryker, the man who had brought me here, who had torn my clothes and left me feeling vulnerable and scared, was a monster. A killer. The thought sent a shiver down my spine, and I felt a wave of nausea wash over me.“The same man who had saved you,” my subconscious tattled, but I dismissed the thought.I couldn't believe what I had gotten myself into. What my uncle had sold me into. I thought of my mother, of the horrors she must be going through in the hands of Derrick. I thought of staying for her sake, of enduring whatever Ryker had planned for me in order to keep her safe. But staying with Ryker was only digging my own grave. He was a monster, capable of doing unimaginable things. And I couldn't imagine staying here, trapped in this luxurious prison with no escape.I felt a sob rising up in my throat, and I couldn't hold it back. I cried, great racking sobs that shook my body and left me gasping for breath. I cri

I searched around the room frantically, my eyes scanning every inch of space for something, anything, that could help me down. I couldn't possibly jump, not from six stories up. I would be dead before I even hit the ground. My heart was racing, my mind reeling with fear and adrenaline. I had to think, had to come up with a plan. And then, it hit me. The blankets. I could tie them together, create a makeshift rope to climb down.I quickly got to work, my hands shaking as I tied the blankets together. I tested the strength of the rope, pulling on it with all my might. It seemed sturdy enough, but I couldn't be sure.I tied one end of the rope to the bed, testing its strength once more. Satisfied, I threw the other end out the window, watching as it unfurled, the end dangling in the air, close to the ground.I took a deep breath, my heart racing with fear. This was it. This was my chance to escape. I climbed out the window, my bare feet finding holds in the stone wall as I began to make

As we entered the house, Ryker's thunderous voice echoed through the halls, sending shivers down my spine. "Who was the guard in charge of her room?" he demanded, his eyes blazing with fury. The guards assembled before us, their faces pale and trembling with fear. One of them, a burly man with a thick beard, stepped forward, his eyes darting nervously between Ryker and me."I-I was, sir," he stuttered, his voice shaking like a leaf.I had never seen a man so big, so scared in my entire life.Ryker's gaze narrowed, his eyes boring into the guard's very soul. "You were in charge of her room, and yet she managed to escape," he growled, his voice low and menacing. "How do you explain that?"The guard swallowed hard, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down. "I-I don't know, sir. I must have fallen asleep at my post."Ryker's expression turned glacial, his eyes flashing with anger, but it was only for a fleeting moment, and a sardonic smile spread across his lip. "You fell asleep at your post?

_Ryker’s POV_I entered my room and slammed the door with so much force it nearly came off its hinges. My wolf paced wildly in my mind, wanting to be freed, but I knew a run wouldn’t cut it.I couldn’t believe it. She tried to run away from me. She tried to leave me.The mere thoughts of it drove me to the brink of madness. I was so angry, and yet, her innocent eyes had a way of making me impossibly hard.It had taken every ounce of willpower in me not to tear her clothes and claim her tonight. Her scent, her taste, fuck, the scent of her arousal…I couldn’t.No woman had ever had such an effect on me, yet I found myself holding back from flipping her over and fucking her senseless. It was her innocence. It had to be. That innocence in her eyes that told me she had never known any man. That was the only thing giving her grace. But it wouldn’t be long before the thin thread of my patience snapped, and I would take. I would take and take till she had nothing else to give, and even then,

I entered my room and slammed the door shut, the sound echoing through the hallway. I was pacing angrily, my feet moving back and forth across the floor. I couldn't believe the nerve of Ryker, ordering me around like I was some kind of servant. My anger overpowered the fear I had for him, and I asked myself what kind of man he was. What kind of man treated a woman like this?I replayed the encounter in my mind, his authoritative voice and the way he addressed me like he owned me. I felt a surge of emotions at the memory, my anger boiling over. How dare he? How dare he treat me like this?As I paced back and forth, I ignored the voice in my head that told me that he actually did own me. He had paid the price for me, and my uncle had willingly sold me off to a monster. I pushed the thought aside, not wanting to think about it. Not wanting to think about the fact that I was trapped here, at the mercy of a man who seemed to take great pleasure in controlling me. A man who lived for the fe

  • Offered to the Cursed Alpha   Chapter 14

I left the room with Claire, following her as she led me on a tour of the massive house. We walked down a long hallway, the walls adorned with expensive-looking artwork and the floors covered in plush carpets. Claire pointed out various rooms as we passed by, explaining their purpose and who used them."This is the living room," she said, gesturing to a large room filled with expensive yet uncomfortable-looking furniture. I held back a snort. "The Alpha likes to entertain guests here."I nodded, taking in the room's opulent decor. It was clear that Ryker spared no expense when it came to furnishing his home. Maybe the rumors about his wealth being as immeasurable as the sands of the earth was true after all, because boy, he was rich rich.We continued on, Claire showing me the dining room–which I’d already seen, the kitchen, and even a small movie theater. I was amazed by the sheer size and luxury of the house. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. As we walked, Claire chatted n

After finishing the tour of the house, I excitedly returned to the library. I had fallen in love with the room, and I couldn't wait to explore it further. As I entered the library, I was immediately enveloped in the musty scent of old books. I breathed deeply, feeling a sense of calm wash over me.I scanned the shelves, my eyes running over the countless books that seemed to stretch up to the ceiling. I knew I'd spend hours in here, getting lost in the stories and adventures that lay within the pages. I finally picked a book, my fingers trailing over the cover as I read the title."The Duke's Heart" was written on the cover in bold, golden letters. I smiled, as I read the short description at the back. I loved romance novels, and this one seemed like it would be right up my alley. I opened the book, feeling the worn pages crackle beneath my fingers. The book seemed old, like it had been read and reread countless times.I wondered vaguely if Ryker was into romance stories, but the thou

Arianna’s POVMy heart was pounding like crazy. For a second, all I could do was just lay there, trying to remember how to breathe.I was sprawled across Ryker’s chest, my hands gripping the fabric of his sweatshirt like it was the only thing keeping me from completely losing it. His scent, the same one that made my mouth water, wrapped around me in a way that made my head spin.It was too much. He was too close, and my heart was beating way too fast I knew he could feel it on his chest.I squeezed my eyes shut, willing my racing heart to calm the hell down, but it was useless. His arms were around me, his body was under mine, and it felt like no time had passed at all. Like nothing had changed. Like we were still… whatever it was we used to be.Slowly—so slowly—I opened my eyes. And there he was.Ryker.His face inches from mine.God, he was sinfully beautiful. All sharp jawlines, furrowed brows, and those deep, stormy eyes that had ruined me more times than I cared to admit. His dar

  • Offered to the Cursed Alpha   Chapter 123

Ryker’s POVIt was getting harder to breathe lately. Not because of the workouts or the endless hours at the office, but because of her.Every damn day, it was the same. I’d wake up, go through the motions, drag myself to work where I barely got anything done, then come back here—where she was.So close.Yet so damn far.Arianna.I could feel her presence before I even opened the door most days. Her scent would hit me first, always soft and delicate and a little sweeter when she was nervous, and it would gut me every single time.My wolf wasn’t any help either. He made it worse, clawing and pacing and howling inside of me like an animal trapped in a cage. Every second we spent not touching her, not holding her, he punished me for it.But what was I supposed to do?Every time I looked into her eyes now, all I saw was that night. The way she stared at me like I had broken and betrayed her.She didn’t only call me a monster, but she saw me as one too. And that… that hurt more than anyth

  • Offered to the Cursed Alpha   Chapter 122

Arianna’s POVEvery day after that felt the same. It was like we had fallen into a routine. Me trying to catch Ryker’s eyes, and Ryker pretending I didn’t exist. That was the absolute worst because it hurt way more than anything else he could have done. It hurt more than having him yell at me, and even more than if he punished me.The silence was worse, and nothing could have prepared me for the way I felt. It was almost like that private island never happened. Each time he just passed by me in the hallway like I wasn’t even there, it felt like I had imagined that week on that island, and none of it had been real.At first, I tried harder. I knew he was mad, but I felt it wouldn’t take long for the ice to thaw.I would walk a little slower in the hallways when I heard his footsteps and then I would pretend like I was just “coincidentally” going the same way as him.I timed him. I knew what time he left for work in the morning, and what time he went for a run on weekends. And at that t

  • Offered to the Cursed Alpha   Chapter 121

Arianna’s POVHe didn’t even look back at me.I stood there, frozen on the stairs, staring at the door he’d just walked through. My heart thudded against my ribs, like it was trying to break free from the guilt that was already curling tighter around my lungs and just like it had been happening in the last few days, I couldn’t breathe.Did I really expect him to forgive me just like that? The question bit into my chest and I swallowed hard, willing myself not to cry again. I’d cried enough already. Three days locked in my room, no food, no sleep, just me and the fear of Claire’s death, but now, it was all amplified by every hateful word I’d said to him.Monster.Murderer.I hate you.God.He was right. I didn’t hesitate. I didn’t even try to ask for the truth. I let Claire draw the picture and I colored it in for her.And now he couldn’t even stand to look at me.I sank down onto the bottom step, my hands trembling in my lap. I felt raw. Like someone had peeled back every layer of me

  • Offered to the Cursed Alpha   Chapter 120

Ryker’s POVI didn’t go far when I left her. I couldn’t. My legs barely carried me past the threshold of Claire’s room before the weight in my chest forced me to stop walking. I gripped the edge of the hallway wall, my knuckles white and my jaw clenched so tightly it ached. Her voice still echoed behind me, and I could still feel his broken it was.“Please, Ryker. Please. I didn’t mean to…I didn’t know—”I closed my eyes.I had to keep walking. But when I finally made it back to my room, it was like I’d entered a tomb. The silence wasn’t comforting. It wasn’t peaceful. It was suffocating. Every inch of space seemed to squeeze the breath out of my lungs. My wolf was pacing inside me, agitated and very unsettled. He didn’t understand. Or maybe he did, and it just hurt too much to accept. She believed everything. His voice growled low inside my head. She chose her.I ripped the shirt from my back, needing something, anything, to tear apart. The fabric split under my hands, but it didn’t

  • Offered to the Cursed Alpha   Chapter 119

Arianna’s POVI couldn’t breathe. The natural act of breathing suddenly became too difficult with the heavy scent of lavender—Claire— that was still permeated in the air, or the pictures laid bare and staring straight at me. My heart beat like it was trying to break through my ribs. My hand hovered over the photo of myself with the red X slashed through it, trembling so violently I had to ball it into a fist just to stop it. I didn’t even realize when I’d reached the photos.I turned to him.Ryker hadn’t moved. He stood like a statue beside Claire’s bed, his eyes fixed on the collage that had just shattered what was left of my sanity.“Say something,” I said but my voice came out as a hoarse whisper. He didn’t say anything. Just kept looking at the raised bed.“Please,” I begged, the word tasting like blood in my mouth. I honestly didn’t want to believe what I was seeing. And then he looked at me. It wasn’t just a glance, he looked at me like he wanted to search deep into my soul. His

  • Offered to the Cursed Alpha   Chapter 118

Arianna’s POVI wasn’t sure. Not about him. Not about myself. Not about anything anymore. My hands were still trembling, my fingers cold despite how warm the room was. My lips tasted of salt and copper from chewing them too hard. My legs felt wobbly beneath me, and I wasn’t entirely sure if it was from the three days without food or what Ryker had just said.Claire… leading me to rogues? No. No, she wouldn’t. She couldn’t.But his voice echoed in my head. He didn’t sound angry or defensive. He just sounded very certain. “If you want to see who the real monster is… follow me.”I stood there long after he’d left, staring at the door like it would open itself and swallow me whole. My brain screamed at me to stay. That this was a trap. That I couldn’t trust him, not after everything. For all I knew, he could be luring me out to kill me and finish what where he’d stopped with Claire. Tie up the loose ends because if there was only one thing I knew about Ryker, then it was the fact that he

  • Offered to the Cursed Alpha   Chapter 117

Arianna’s POVThree days.It had been three full days, and I still couldn’t believe it.Everything felt surreal, like I was suspended in the middle of a nightmare I couldn’t wake from. Time had stopped moving the second Claire’s body hit the ground. My mind kept looping back to that exact moment; her eyes wide in shock, her mouth parted like she was going to say something, the blood that burst out of her head and splattered across the wall behind her.And then the silence.I couldn’t comprehend it. No matter how many times my thoughts circled around it, it just didn’t make sense. Claire—who had held my hand. Claire—who had whispered instructions into my ear. Claire—who told me to run, to live, to never look back.Dead.Shot in the head.By him.I hadn’t left my room since. I hadn’t spoken a word to anyone except when absolutely necessary. I hadn’t eaten. I hadn’t drunk even a drop of water. Not that I hadn’t tried. I had. But everything felt like sand in my mouth. Everything tasted li

Arianna’s POVI let out a strangled breath the moment I saw her.“Claire,” I whispered, stumbling forward, barely able to believe she was real and standing right in front of me. My legs moved before my brain could catch up and I nearly collapsed into her arms, all of my thoughts throughout the last hour crashing over me like a wave.“God, I thought—” My voice broke. I clutched her sleeves. “I thought something happened. You were late. You said ten. I waited. I waited, Claire, and I thought he found you, or—”“I know, I know.” She wrapped her arms around me, pressing her face to my shoulder. Her voice was hushed and hurried. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. I had to make sure no one was watching. I couldn’t risk it. Alpha has eyes everywhere and I had to make sure nobody was suspicious.”“No kidding,” I muttered, a little shakier than I meant to sound. She pulled back and looked me over. Her eyes were wild, darting around like we were already being hunted. “Are you okay? Did any
