I looked over at Angelique who had pulled herself together. Did the dimwit really think she had a chance? "That is enough! Let it go Angelique!" Kai growled angrily. "Kai, Angelique has a right to demand a fight in wolf form. That is the ancient way." Sigfried said calmly, but shot Angelique a look of disapproval anyway. Kai cast his father a look that could easily be described as one of hatred. He clenched his jaw and let his intense gaze fall on me once more. "Let's get this over with." I walked over to Kai as I pulled my sports bra over my head and kicked my trainers off. Kai gripped my hips as I stood in front of him, allowing him the honors of pulling my yoga pants off. I'd never done anything so bold before. and was thrilled when he devoured my lips in a punishing kiss in front of the whole pack. I found myself at the center of the mat for a third time, ignoring Angelique who was glaring daggers at the side of my face and smiled over at Kai who had his fisted arms crossed over his chest. His steady gaze grounding me. Angelique was already shifting. The sound of cracking bones filled the air until a large sandy brown she-wolf stood in front of me, lips pulled back in a snarl and murderous eyes. I smiled. I was at least a head taller, and my body mass far outweighed hers. I shifted swiftly into my white wolf, the grey tips of my coat running along the spine of my back. My shift was graceful in contrast to Angelique's. I watched her eyes widen in fear when she took in my massive size, barely smaller than Kai's wolf. I stalked towards her with my teeth bared and a powerful growl rumbling in my chest. Her eyes darted from side to side and she cowered at the force of my aura. Thanks to this stupid girl, the entire pack was able to see my strength, and now my authority. I was Alpha Gerald's granddaughter. I was a descendant of the very first wolves to roam the earth. And I had hybrid blood in my veins. Power. I was going to make an example out of her. This pack was never going to underestimate me again. Attacking first, I had her pinned to the ground in seconds. I revelled in the fear in her eyes. I snapped my jaws down on her neck and front legs. She would bruise, giving her a little reminder of her loss when she lay awake tonight remembering that I had done this to her. Then I ripped out the hair at her jugular, leaving her whimpering in pain and panic. I snarled in her face and she turned away, lowering her head in submission. I slowly stood up. Angelique scurried around at my feet, keeping low. Surrendering. Kai was at my side in a second, Sigfried beside him. Obvious pride in their eyes at the ease in how I had displayed my rank. I shifted back. Kai grabbed my hand and raised it high. "My mate!!" He declared loudly in what could easily be mistaken for an Alpha tone with it's beautiful deep baritone carrying through the club, and the crowd erupted in thunderous cheers, applauding, stamping their feet and howling loudly. Sharing in their future alpha's celebration over his mates strength and ability. I lifted my head high. Kai's elation making me feel high too. His eyes washing awe and wonderment over me. I stiffened at once. An unfamiliar vampire scent. Why was there a vampire wondering around these parts?! "What's wrong, baby?" Kai was frowing down at me. He had removed his t-shirt and his muscular torso was on display, no doubt a bitter sight for the girls who had challenged me. He pulled his shirt over my head, enveloping my naked body in his scent. I didn't feel comfortable alerting him to the scent if he wasn't aware of it already. Like I was betraying my own kind. I shook my head, "nothing." I smiled up at Kai's beaming face. But the scratch of betrayal was still there. Vampire or wolf. I would always betray a part of myself. "Kai." A beautiful middle aged woman called from behind his back.
