Veronica’s POV

“Do you want to join my meeting with the Sun Council next time?” Sebastian asked as I fixed his collar. He was looking at me.

“If you need me,” I answered and then smoothed his vest, “And if they will let me,” I added with a snicker before looking at his face.

There was an instant scowl on his expression after my last comment. He looked offended and said, “Of course they will. Why would they not let my queen be part of the pack business?”

I laughed at the way he was so easily worked up by the mention of it, “Yeah, okay,” I just relented to not have a long conversation about it, “Don’t be too harsh on them, though.”

“I’m not hard on them,” he reasons and tilted his head, “They just have to listen to me.”

I crossed my arms over my chest and lectured him, “Wolf councils are established for a reason, Sebastian.”

“You cannot rule alone,” I poked a finger on his shoulder to emphasize my point, “A king that listens to no one shouldn’t be anyone’s king.”

He stared at me with co

Veronica’s POV Virren moonstone is also known as the moonstone of eclipse. According to the book, it is a special jewel that could harness the power of light and darkness during the veiling of Sol and Luna. The sun and the moon. It's a folktale that dates back in olden times. The illustration is exactly how I remember the moonstone that Eviera has. It might really be the real thing, if the pack protects it dearly. “What are you gonna do now?” Sebastian asked as he flopped down to our bed and I remained standing, deep in thoughts. We were back in our chambers after a quick dinner which he insisted and I took the book with me to our room. “I now know what the moonstone is,” I said more to myself than to him, “I might find who did steal it and what is their real purpose. Whether it's just really against me or there's another ulterior motive.” “Wouldn’t it make sense that it’s your stepsister who tried to steal it?” He asked me, “I mean she basically set you up.” “It’s not imposs

Thirsty. Rabid. All-consuming. It sends me on a spiral as I try to match his intensity. I was leaning down, holding his face while he remained seated on the bed and reached for our kiss. His tongue was prodding me to let him in and I relented. It alternates from slowing down to taste each other and an overwhelming fervor that makes me lose all coherent thoughts. I was climbing on his lap as we deepened our kiss. His hand found its way under my clothes, skirting higher and higher, from my legs to my thighs. He took his time feeling me, stroking my smooth skin. My breath hitched as he guided one of my legs to the side of his hips. I remained standing on one foot as his other hand pulled on my hair. I can feel his fingers almost digging into my skin as his lips nipped on mine, harder and hung

Veronica’s POV“Are you okay, Luna?” Isolde asked me and I jolted from where I was gently massaging my aching hips, “Are you hurt anywhere?”“Hm?” I snapped back to reality and realized what I unconsciously did. I felt a blush on my cheeks as I cleared my throat and regained my proper posture before answering. “Ah yes, yes. I was just spacing out,” I told her. In my head I left a reminder to strangle Sebastian later. That prick. He may have let go of me in the morning but he did not let me get any sleep all night. He took it quite literally, not stopping until the first ray of sunlight saved me from dying because of his unquenchable libido. Vivid flashes of our endeavors last night filled my brain at the mere thought of that mad man. I can almost feel his possessive touches and hungry caresses ghosting all over my body. I bet if it wasn't for my lycan healing abilities the evidence of our evening together will still be etched on my skin. It made my stomach swirl with stupid butterf

Veronica’s POVThe Rozeiros family is still a mystery to me.Frankly, the house of Rozeiros has always been an enigma for the entirety of the North. All I know is that they are monarchs who have been around since the continent was founded. Their power and influence goes way back. They founded the Helios pack and have been the said leader since. Yet despite all this, people know little of them.I have always thought that it's because I am from a different pack. After all, it's not like each clan shares their history over a cup of tea. Wolf packs are civil at most. Alliances are not that common. There's a reason territories exist. But now that I think about it, even after marrying to the family, I know close to nothing about the Rozeiroses.Sebastian Rozeiros was only the demon wolf to me until recently. The strongest in the North, infamous for being the best and most brutal hunter in the continent. He sits on top of all the Alphas. A king above kings. Feared and respected.I know him

Veronica's POVI have been wrong for quite a number of times in my life.I was wrong when I trusted my stepmother, stepsister, and ex-husband who ruined my life, got me dethroned, and exiled in a blink of an eye.I was wrong when I thought Helios would become my personal hell and that I would die after I was thrown away here. And apparently, I was wrong again now.“This is him when he was five years old and sneaked out for his first hunt,” she pointed to the photograph of a little boy with a scowl on his face and a small rabbit on his lap. He was glaring at the camera, “He wouldn’t kill the bunny because he thought it was cute.”The boy looked grumpy but lacked the bite that is usually present in his current age. He looks like an adorable kid throwing a tantrum and I’m sure he was throwing a tantrum when the photo was taken.I laughed while staring at the image. I would surely use this against Sebastian.“Oh there’s these pictures of a newborn Ian too,” she says with a giggle. Luciana

Warning: Graphic depictions of violence*****Sebastian's POVThe first time I believed in my prophesied curse was the day I lost myself. It happened the night when we were traveling back to Helios from a pack convention. We had prisoners with us that were supposed to be taken back to our territory as we had triumphed over expanding our borders and they were the rogues that were sentenced to punishment as a result. The night was supposed to be yet another ordinary evening. However, things took a twisted turn. I was shifted in my wolf form. My pitch black fur was embraced by the freezing wind as I tore through the dark woods in a blur of motion passing through the tall trees. All my senses are heightened and I feel overstimulated, my red eyes were frantic and wild as I scoped the terrain. My throat was scorching and I needed something to quench this overwhelming thirst that was muddling my brain. An unrelenting hunger sits on the pit of my stomach, I was itching for something I couldn

Veronica’s POV“Is it me or are you sweeter to me lately?” There was amusement in Sebastian’s voice as he combed his fingers through my wavy locks. We were laying together, tangled on the couch inside our bedroom as the sunset hues from the open balcony painted our chambers faded marmalade. I tried not to flinch at his comment and keep down my reaction to it.Luciana’s words about his curse were still fresh in my mind.“Sebastian was prophesied to die.”Even the slight memory of it is enough to fill my body with terror and an ache that I don’t want to acknowledge. It’s been days since that and I have been doing my best to repress it, to not consider its implications. After all, Sebastian doesn’t even show that he thinks about it nor does he have any plans of letting me know.Hence, I keep it to myself. Act like it’s not real, not mention it out loud. Because maybe if I never say it out loud, it will not be manifested to existence— I can still pretend that it is not true.Besides, Luc

Note: The following chapter contains explicit adult content.* * * * *Veronica’s POVHrk! Grk, hgrk—Sebastian tightened the fingers that were intently gripping my wavy brown locks as he guided my mouth to take his length further to its base. My fingers dig into his skin from where I was holding him by the thighs. I pressed into the hilt, his tip hitting the back of my throat as the scent of his pheromones dominated my other senses.“Fuck, Veronica,” he rasped as his red eyes bore into mine, taking the sight of me on my knees in front of him. He sure enjoys what was in front of him by the glint in those dazed orbs. His hips stuttered a bit when I continued to swallow him whole. I could feel a rumbling from his chest as he breathed and leaned back on the couch, “You take me so good, love,” he praises.I braced myself as Sebastian moved to grind his hips to my face. The gagging sounds were muffled along with the filthy squelching that just made me feel more heated as he stuffed me down

Trigger warning: This chapter containers implied harassment. Read at your discretion.**Veronica’s POVThe chamber was immediately in chaos. The atmosphere inside was filled with their panic.I remained beside Sebastian, poised and composed, while the elders of the pack—the ones who once easily discarded me despite all the work I did for them—watched from their carved wooden chairs.Colton sat at the head. His lips were curled in a neutral line, but his eyes flickered with disdain. At his side, Ruby, looked as fragile and sweet as ever amidst her obvious alarm and confusion.I don't know if it's because I've seen her true colors now but it was easier to see through her acting. Either that, or she's losing her only talent.Sebastian told them in detail, “During our kingdom’s recent investigations, we discovered remnants of dark magic—traces that led us to a disturbing truth.”I continued his explanation, “We discovered planted obsidian shards: enchanted, corrupted, and powerful—was fo

Veronica’s POVIt feels like I have lived a hundred lifetimes since I last stepped in Eviera. My previous visit was during Colton and Ruby’s wedding, which was cathartic when I look back at it. It's also when I first made my move against them.Time passes by so quickly. A lot of things happened.“Eviera is not expecting and accepting any guests—” the guard of the borders didn't finish his words when he realized the crest of our carriage. Then, we pushed the curtains of our window away to speak with him.“Alpha Sebastian of Helios,” he greets and then locks eyes with me. I think I’ve seen him around before, when I was still queen of Eviera so I understood the shock of his reaction, gulping in my presence.I guess my bad reputation in the pack remains.“L-luna Veronica of Helios,” he greets me too.The other guard beside him moved so that they could bow together to us. I assumed this second guy was a superior of his.He then tells us, “I apologize for the rudeness Your Highnesses but ha

Veronica’s POVRevenge won’t give me peace but it will give me satisfaction.I killed Jadeline with my own two hands. If I wasn't that corrupted before, I'm forever tainted now. So I chose to see it through to the end.At least then, I’d have my conclusion. I could really shed the skin of my past without any attachments. I’ve done the worst anyway, might as well finish the job.“Remind me to not make an enemy out of you,” Sebastian gave me an amused smirk as he leaned on his chair.I raised a brow at him and grinned. “Like you’re not as diabolical.” He only responded with a hearty laugh.Perhaps the reason why we belong together is we accept the darkest, ugliest parts of one another.Today, I’ve made up my mind on how we can close this chapter of our lives—the ritual, the demon, the curse, and Jadeline. It took me some time before I could come up with something that covers all the tangled webs left behind. It's not wise for the truth to leak. A lot of people, even other packs and t

Sebastian’s POV“Veronica?” I called out in the darkness of the night. I patted her side of the bed and it was empty.I got up in haste, eyes glowing to check the surroundings and instantly stepped out to look around. Then, I remembered our mating bond. With that, I sensed her presence easier than before and I knew exactly where she was. What she's feeling and if she's okay. My feet brought me to the open balcony of our chambers.“There you are,” I murmured, only feeling relief when I really saw her in the flesh, despite the bond we share.Lately, I’ve known fear. Perhaps this is the result of recent events. I don’t think I’d ever forget what fear is anymore. She was wrapped in a silk robe, the breeze brushing her skin as she stared over the moonlit horizon. Her scent was carried by the wind, calming me in a way no other ever could. Her silhouette looked breathtaking. “Ah, yes. Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up,” Veronica answered, looking at me over her shoulder with a smile.I’v

Veronica’s POVNothing happened.Or at least, that’s what we told the rest of Helios when they started coming back to the territory. We spent the last few days cleaning the traces of the ritual and the chaos that happened while also recovering from our wounds and letting reality sink in.Tonight was a starless evening. The moon was hiding behind the clouds and the storm has calmed down into a soft chilly winter. The wind stirred my clothes, carrying a refreshing breath of air. The sound of the nearby falls could be heard.I was standing by the river’s edge, somewhere near the altar from nights before. I watched the raft float away from me, in the center of the stream, the crackle of the flames consumed the wrapped body that lay atop of it. There were no flowers, no offerings, no runes etched into the wood. Just the body—hers— and the silence on an ordinary wooden plank. It had been five days. Five days since I killed her with my own hands, with the blade she gifted me, because of the

Veronica’s POV “What’s the point of breaking the curse if I lost him?” The three siblings were standing around me as I knelt beside Sebastian’s body. Nolan said that from what he read, if the obsidian crystal reacts to him, that means that the demon’s host still lives—and yet minutes dragged on with no signs of him waking up. Luciana said it was time to accept it. But I can’t. How could I? I looked at the dagger I was still holding. My vision became blurry thinking about the life I took with it. I’m still soaked in their blood. His blood… At that moment, I was seriously thinking of ending my life, to follow him—to feel the pain I’ve caused him. But isn't that an easy way out for my sin? The punishment best suited for me is to live with the guilt and loss forever. “Veronica, you did what you had to do,” Luciana told me, hand on my shoulder. “Sebastian asked for it. There was no other way.” I replied with nothing. My grip on the hilt tightened. I felt another taste of anger in

Third Person’s POVUnder the red moonlight, is the sight of the tragedy.Three figures emerged from the woods, all with barely healing injuries. Snow crunched beneath muddied boots, the sound cutting through the strange stillness that hung tensed over the clearing. The moonlight has returned, seeping little by little through the clouds, no longer veiled by the eclipse. Midnight has passed. The moon’s soft glow fell upon the ruined ritual circle—blood-soaked stones, broken altar, and the scent of black magic long burnt out. In the center of it all, slumped on the ashen ground, the Alpha—Sebastian lay unmoving. And beside him, his queen, Veronica, knelt, her trembling hands covered in blood… of not just his and her own.She wasn’t crying. Not anymore. Not after she has already poured all of her tears out.A sharp whistle broke the air.Veronica looked up sharply, eyes narrowing—guarded. From the edge of the forest, cloaked in shadow and exhaustion, the Rozeiros siblings came to light

Veronica’s POVThe searing pain of Sebastian's mark settling on my skin was the most warmth I felt since this all began.I was silently crying—mating bonds may sting at first but it should be pleasurable after it seals. However, because Sebastian was stabbed and losing his life, I had to feel that same sensation too due to our new connection. I stared at him lying in front of me. As if just in slumber. Or perhaps that was just denial.“No… please,” I whispered, brushing strands of matted hair from his blood-slick face. “Didn’t you feel the black smoke leaving your body? I—I saw it… That’s the shadow right? It's gone so… you can come back. You wanted to stop it from taking you as a vessel and becoming too powerful, right? It’s gone now… you should come back too…”I choked up a sob and shook his body, “There is no way you die like this! With just a dagger! That dagger wasn’t for you! It shouldn’t be for you—no… I… how do I live with your death?” There was still no response. He remained
