Veronica's POV

The strongest Alpha in the North is marrying a rejected Luna.

Whether it sounds absurd or like a fairytale depends on who heard the news.

The words started going around right away this morning.

‘Alpha Sebastian has chosen his Luna.’

Everyone at Helios has been talking about it. The news traveled quickly and Sebastian— still trying to get used with that name on my tongue— wasted no time in letting everyone know.

And he also wasted no time in tailing me around.

“Can't you give me space?” I sighed and frowned at him.

He was laying sideways facing me as I sat cross-legged on the bed.

He smiled lazily at me, teasing, “No, because we're getting married.”

I squinted my eyes at him, “You know you keep repeating that.” I crossed my arms over my chest, “Remember I still haven't forgiven you.”

He frowned and picked on the sheets with a pout like a kid, “It's okay.” His voice was low like a whisper, his tone was the same as a scolded child.

Sebastian looked up at me sne

Veronica's POV“Here are the rules,” I began while he already responded with a frown.“I don't do rules,” Sebastian complained right away.I smiled at him so sweet, it is obviously fake, “Well too bad for you, huh? Because we will have our rules,” I told him with no room for refusal. And yet he still refused, “No.”“Then the wedding is canceled,” I said.“Then you won't have your revenge,” he mocked and copied my tone.I smiled again and mocked his mockery, “Then I should just die.”It was comical how his face twisted too fast. “What?!” His voice boomed in the still kind of empty new room he says is mine now. “Who even says that?! Stop it, Veronica, it wasn't funny.”He took it way too seriously. It was a shot in the dark comment but I got the reaction I wanted so I think I win that.“Tough, that's my condition,” I continued, teasing. He's the one always making fun of me so I wanted to give him a little taste of it.“You can't change terms like that,” his brows were furrowed and he was

Veronica’s POV“Congratulations on your upcoming wedding, Miss.” Analynn was brushing my hair as she smiled at me from the mirror. I smiled back gently.I glanced at the people who were carrying boxes and furniture inside the room. Did I mention how spacious my room is? It is twice the already big room I previously had. I tried telling Sebastian that it was too much but he insists that this is what his queen should have. So who am I to complain?Isolde was the one guiding and instructing them on where to put the things. I barely convinced Sebastian to let his people do it because I couldn’t really care about the interior of my room, anyway. Yet I wasn’t able to stop him from ordering new furniture in replacement of the stuff already in here. They are not even old but apparently, he had so much money to splurge. Ugh.I feel burdened by the things he gives me, especially as they are not even related to my revenge and our agreement in the first place. Well, maybe it is because I’ll be th

Sebastian’s POVVeronica locked me out.I frowned as I realized the warding spell she put on the window. Where did she even get the sage leaves and how does she know the chant for it? This can’t actually keep me out but her message was very clear and a swell of anger filled my chest. I clenched my fist and turned away.Fine, if she wants me to leave her alone, then so be it.I slammed the door open to my palace, a loud thud echoing inside, the servants cleaning at night flinched and stayed out of my way as they saw my livid expression. I marched to my office. Once I entered, I saw Eamon standing at the corner and he jumped a little to the sound of my arrival. I glanced at him, glaring.“What?” There was a sharpness in my voice and my Beta cleared his voice and stood straighter.I am not really in the mood to talk with anyone right now. I walked towards my desk, taking off my blazer.“An invitation was sent for you,” I stared at him blankly, sending a why-should-it-be-my-concern look

Sebastian’s POVI would never have expected Veronica barging in to talk to me.It was moments after my victory howl. Eamon appeared some time after, gauging what happened in the chamber. He saw the slowly disappearing symbols of the duel circle. His eyes briefly darted at his father who’s being escorted by another councilman. I saw his eyes flickered but he said nothing despite the certainty of him realizing that it was me who caused that.He must be having mixed emotions. His loyalty as my Beta is sworn on his life to me and he had a strained relationship with his father, anyway. “My wedding is set,” I told him as I trudged toward the elevated platform where my throne sits. It pulled him back from his thoughts and finally looked at me.Eamon had a lot of questions in his mind but he kept it to himself and nodded, bowing, “Understood, Alpha.” He was smart to know how to respond. That is why I chose him to be my second in command. He knows his place.I was so satisfied with my triumph

Veronica’s POV“You look wonderful in white,” I was checking the waistline of my dress in front of the mirror when I felt his hands wrapping around my waist and he stood close behind me.He discovered that habit and he hasn't been able to stop ever since.I tried ignoring his flirtatious words and touches. Still pretending to check my dress. It was made with floral laces, the design is simple and elegant. He met my eyes in the reflection, “We should’ve had it made too like your wedding gown.”I looked at him disapprovingly, “No need for that,” I said. “I’m just doing this to piss them off.”He plastered a wide smirk, “Damn, baby you're nasty.”My wolf keened at the praise.“I know,” I averted my eyes and pretended to check my neckline yet I could still feel his gaze on me.“Hm, I guess you’re right,” he took the hair over my shoulder and put it on my back. I couldn't help but follow his eyes as he stared at me through the mirror. “You don’t really need much effort to outshine that sis

Veronica’s POVDuring my first marriage, it was my stepmother who decided everything about my wedding.Whether it was my gown, the flowers, the theme, the cake, and even the invited guests. I had no choice but to follow her anyway. I didn't want to start any issues back then and I wanted her to be happy. After all, I went through that marriage for her. Just to please her. Because she told me it is what's best for our family.I still regret it until today.“I think I’ll pick the off-shoulder sweetheart neck gown,” I bit my lower lip as I pointed to the design shown to me. “Wonderful choice, Miss!” The lady smiled at me and bookmarked the page.Browsing the catalog was overwhelming and I was so indecisive. All the gowns were beautiful, I wish I could wear them all at least once. Although I just kept that last thought to myself. If Sebastian gets wind of it, it might start giving him ideas of holding a wedding over and over until I have worn everything shown to me.I almost laughed to m

Veronica’s POVI prepared myself for some disapproving reactions from the Helios pack.It just makes sense that they would be wary of me and might even dislike that I was chosen. I guess it didn't really sink in to me as much outside my awareness because I was in a bubble of people who respect and like me here. I was under Sebastian’s protection. Now that he is not around, I could notice a bit of resentment and grudges towards me.Of course they cannot act on it though, especially as I am guarded all the time. Maybe this is why Sebastian fully assigned Isolde and Soren to me.It started as subtle as a slightly askewed plate on the dining table. Barely noticeable that I simply thought that it was a mistake. After all, the dishes served to me were perfect and with a lot of choices. I was dining alone. Isolde was out checking the staff and people that would accompany us to Eviera tomorrow. Soren was tasked to inspect the carriages we will use while Analynn prepared my clothings and other

Veronica’s POVI have lived many lives for other people. There was this crave for approval that has always weighed on my shoulders. I have always felt like people tolerating me is only conditional. I have to be useful and I have to offer something to them so that they would keep me around. I don't know where it started. I don't know when it could end, I still carry it with me until today.Back when my father was still alive, our relationship was okay. We were a bit closer before Jadeline and Ruby. Somehow we stopped being as close after his second marriage.I didn't wanna harbor anything against him. I liked that I would have a mother around and a sister too. But after all this, sometimes I wonder whether he just wanted to replace my mom and me.During his second marriage, father became busy with pack matters I still cannot fully understand back then. All I know is that it was important to him. So important that it consumed his time.I wanted to enter that world of his. That's why eve

Veronica’s POV“Time to fulfill your purpose, my dear.”Jadeline’s clawed hand shoved me to the ground and I was thrown off balance, crashing onto the snow-covered earth sliding backward, cold seeped into my bones while ice and frozen dirt scraped against my skin. The sting of the impact barely registered to me. I didn’t feel cold, the rage I had burned hotter and I gritted my teeth, pushed myself up to glare at the woman who threw me.I looked around. We were at the entrance towards the clearing of Helios’ waterfalls where the winter doesn’t fall. The place that once looked so magical and majestic in my eyes seemed terrifying in this light.Jadeline walked towards me and picked me up by the wrists again, yanking me forward with force. I gasped as she dragged me across the dirty ground."Let me go!" I snarled with a struggle but her grip was unyielding.Things continued passing in a blur.I couldn’t hold back my cries and sobs as I tried to escape from her grasps. However, what momen

Veronica’s POV“How did you break free?” I choked out while I tried to remove her grip on my jaw.I need to think fast. I cannot lose the upper hand or everything would go downhill and she would turn the tables on me. Yet I can’t let her predict how I plan on getting away from her.Jadeline let out a hollow, bitter laugh. “Don’t be so full of yourself, Veronica. I would give it to you—it was a nice try but you know better than underestimate me.”“A flimsy spell of illusion won’t keep me for long.” I yelped as her claws dug into my flesh, blood dripped on my chin. I pulled on her wrist but she just gripped me tighter.Perhaps this strength is still part of the perks of her contract with the dark entity. The spell wasn’t fully completed, I wasn’t able to weaken Jadeline to her lowest. “You think I’d agree to let myself be tortured in pain for your satisfaction?” Her frenzied eyes stared into mine. Her words piqued my attention. That’s right, what triggered her sudden will that allowed

Veronica’s POVIt was as if I’m taken back to a century ago.Jadeline’s next memory is the first great eclipse as I realized the surroundings and the sky in her vision.I felt her body freeze from where she was paralyzed in front of me, my gaze briefly checking on her before I looked around to see the memory in detail. It was her and Helian.“They will find out about this,” young Jaedelinne was agitated as she paced back and forth, fumbling with her fingers.“I’m telling you! You should just give this up,” her voice broke and she moved to hold his arm, pulling him.But Helian remained staring at the waterfalls. I wasn't sure if he’s not listening or he just can't hear her.Jaedelinne faced him even as his eyes continued to look past her. There was definitely something wrong with him. He doesn't feel like the same man in her earlier visions. It was as if he’s not in his right mind.“Helian! Helian, listen to me!” Jaedelinne said louder this time. She’s growing more anxious as she fran

Third Person’s POVWhile Queen Veronica was extracting the strength and power of her once stepmother Jadeline, on the other side of the kingdom, three figures dashed in full speed within the woods of Helios. They followed the shadow that was ripped out from the body of its host as it soared through the sky with its ominous aura.Within minutes of crossing the woods behind the main castle, faraway from the square where Veronica was at, and the waterfalls that will be the venue of the ritual, the forest finally opened to a clearing.“It’s reaching the seal, brace yourselves,” Rowan says as they draw closer and the shadow starts shooting downwards. There was a giant boulder with the carvings that the Supreme engraved last time he was in the territory. The symbols started glowing as the entity neared. “Stop!” Rowan instructs and halts in his feet with his arm extended to make them cease on their tracks too.Luciana and Nolan slowed down close behind him. They all watched the scene unfol

Veronica’s POVJaedelinne was the first Luna of Helios.I thought I had prepared myself to expect the most unexpected truth that I could find about her past but this is still something that has never crossed my mind. She was the first queen of Helios, part of the original royal family of the pack.My mind started filling up with different questions, racing as it tried to put the pieces together. Was this why she was hell-bent in banishing me here? Is the ritual at midnight something she would use against her old kingdom? If she was the first Luna, why did they exile her to become a rogue? The wind became colder than it already is. I started trembling in the winter despite drinking the soup concocted from the sunflame iris to battle this harsh storm. My head whipped around as I realized that the hurricane-like dome we were in the middle of was drawing closer to us, growing smaller by each second. It crossed my mind that perhaps my spell went out of control but I couldn’t break the inca

Jadeline’s POVI once had everything and I lost it.Veronica’s hands feel cold from where she was holding my temple. I knew her well enough to understand that it's not because of the winter storm tonight. It’s because despite all the horrible things I did to her, she still doesn’t want to hurt me.It’s this side of her that I detest. It’s that heart of hers that I abhor. But it's what allowed me to reach here so really, I have her to thank for it.“Who's there?!” I faintly heard her yell towards someone. Not even in my lowest point or desperation that I’d think someone has arrived for me. So I knew it must be part of her spell.I could barely see it from my peripheral vision—an image of a girl passing through like some sort of ghost.I saw that strawberry-blonde locks and wanted to kill myself right then and there have it not been for the ritual. My body couldn't move, paralyzed by the pain and because of the heavy shackles she put on me.Ah, I think I understand what she's trying to

Veronica’s POVWe managed to crack the best plan to defeat Jadeline. It took five Rozeiroses and me, brainstorming for days before the day of the eclipse, just to stand against her. But then I guess she has lived for a very long time. She wouldn't have lasted this long if she's easy to take down.“That demon would be trouble if we were to try and kill her,” Rowan ponders while holding his chin. “That's our biggest problem.”“Don't you know any binding spell, Luciana?” Declan turns to their sister to ask.She sighed, “I’m sure that dark entity is some sort of high-end demon.” She looked at each one of us, “I don't think I know a seal that could handle it.”“Even the kind of spell you use to seal and bind me?” Sebastian interjected.Tension instantly filled the chamber. We stared at him with unease. It was kind of morbid for Sebastian to speak about it so casually, as if it's a normal thing to do.With what I witnessed last time, he was treated almost as low as a mindless beast.
