Meredith's POV

Idris and I turn to find Caelen leaning against the doorframe with his hands in his pockets. His attire is similar to Roman’s but a lot less sinister.

His hazel eyes shift from Idris to me suspiciously, and my mouth opens and shuts as I try to think of a lie.

If they find out who Idris really is, they will kill him, and then they will kill me because then he will know that I lied to him. I have been lying to all of them about who I really am.

When neither of us answer, Caelen pushes himself off the doorframe and eyes Idris carefully, "I have never seen you before,” he says, encircling Idris in an intimidating manner.

I did my best to calm myself down and try not to give us away, but it is just so hard. If there was one thing I hated about these kings, it was their ability to evoke fear in anyone without even trying.

“I am one of the new recruits, your majesty.” Idris lies coolly, and Caelen’s eyelids are narrow.

“Is that so? And to what rank?” Caelen inter

  • OWNED BY THE LYCAN KINGS   CHAPTER 41: THE MOLE

Meredith’s POV The pounding of my heart against my ribcage is the only sound in the room. Beads of sweat trickle down my face as my eyes remain locked with Roman’s furious ones. He walked in not long ago, and Caelen instantly told him about the phone he found on me. Roman hasn’t said anything since. He just stared at me with a burning fury, but there was something else in his eyes. I almost did not recognize it due to all the rage shielding it, but I saw it. The disappointment. I wanted to tell him that all this is just some misunderstanding and that I am not whatever mole they are talking about. But what valid reason could I possibly have for sneaking a phone around? How can I tell them that I am the runaway omega princess who is secretly hiding in their home to avoid the eyes of the council and my furious father--in-law? If they find out how much trouble I could bring them, then they will kick me out for sure. But a part of me knew that was not the only thing I was scar

  • OWNED BY THE LYCAN KINGS   CHAPTER 42: CAGED

Meredith’s POVThe pain on my backside causes a groan to leave my lips. My hand subconsciously goes down to the throbbing skin, and I attempt to offer myself some form of relief by massaging it, but it only makes it worse. A hiss leaves my lips the second my skin makes contact with it, and I quickly pull my hand away. What happened…?All I can remember is getting ready for the ball, going in with Madam Estrid, and then... my eyes wide as the memories of last night come flooding in. I shoot out of the bed and hastily look around. My blood runs cold when my eyes lock with a pair of icy blue ones.Saul.I wanted to smile with relief and run into his arms, but the way he looked at me paralyzed me to the spot. He is sitting on the chair facing the bed with his elbows on his knees and his eyes solely trained on me. His hair falls above his eyes, shielding his expression. When I squinted my eyes, I could have sworn the corners of his eyes were a bit red. What the hell? Had he been crying

  • OWNED BY THE LYCAN KINGS   CHAPTER 43: WAR DECLARATION

Roman’s POVMy brothers and I sit in silence, neither of us desiring to speak. And I could not blame them. I did not want to speak either. I still find it hard to process everything that is going on. There is no way that Meredith is actually the mole. It just isn’t possible.I know I could have said the same thing about Amarie being a traitor all along. I suppose it is what I get for having even the tiniest bit of faith in a woman.Saul breaks the silence by releasing a long, agitated sigh. He ruffles his hair in frustration, and one can easily tell that his mind is troubled. “This doesn’t seem right, you guys. I mean, Meredith is just too weak to be a mole.”Caelen snorts. “That is exactly what women like her want you to think. They would portray themselves as weak, fragile creatures, so they would be the last person you would ever suspect.”Saul shakes his head, refusing to believe Caelen’s words. “It still just doesn’t make sense,“Caelen slams his palm on the table with a force

  • OWNED BY THE LYCAN KINGS   CHAPTER 44: TEMPORARY SAVE

Meredith’s POV It has been three days. It has been three days since I was thrown into this cage like some animal by my very own mate. Why would Selene do this to me? What great sin could I have possibly committed to have been cursed with a mate such as Roman? How could he be so heartless to leave me in here? This wasn’t like what I read in those books in the library about friends. Mates aren’t supposed to stand the mere thought of their partner in pain, talk less of watching them shed tears. He was a monster. Every day, I have more reasons to despise Roman. And to think that I was starting to think that things could get better between us, that maybe just maybe there is some good within him. I guess I was wrong. But this didn’t just apply to Roman; it applied to all three of them. Even though I could tell Saul was pained by the whole situation, I expected him to put up a bit more of a fight. And Caelen? I doubt he ever really had a hint of affection for me. Even if he did, h

  • OWNED BY THE LYCAN KINGS   CHAPTER 45: TRAPPED

Meredith’s POVThe silence during the ride is really uncomfortable. Saul wouldn’t even look in my direction, and we've been driving for over ten minutes. We are being escorted by a convoy, but I still felt terribly alone despite being surrounded by so much security. The driver didn’t make a single sound; I couldn’t even hear his breathing. The same goes for Saul. He just sat by my side, typing away on his phone.I can’t take this anymore. This is all just too suffocating.“Saul...” I start, but he raises his hand to silence me. “No, not a word. I want silence,” he says coldly, and I frown. I do not know what gives me the confidence to place my hand on his and move even closer to him. But who am I kidding? This is Saul, who we are talking about here. He would never hurt me.I hope.He stops typing on his phone but still doesn’t look at me. So, I take it that I have gotten his attention. “This is all just a big misunderstanding; I am not the mole, and I know you know that. Just pleas

  • OWNED BY THE LYCAN KINGS   CHAPTER 46: BREAKING FREE

Meredith’s POVI stretch my limbs on the bed before descending it quietly. I do not know how long I have been inthis asylum, nor did I care. All I knew was that I had to get out. I have lost track of how many nights I have stayed up, hoping and waiting for one of the kings to come get me.But they never do.Are they doing this because they caught a phone call from me? This is the worst type of torture anyone could ever give me, to be honest. Something tells me this must have been Caelen’s idea. Roman would have resorted to sexual assault, while Saul would have preferred to taunt and terrorize me himself. Caelen is usually the cooler-headed and more calculated one. A slow, mentally draining torture where he knew neither he nor his brothers would get soft and let her go would most definitely be his idea.Whenever I would wake up, I would find a tray of food on the nightstand, no doubt brought by the bitchy gamma wolf. At first, I thought I could keep up the attitude and not eat. But

  • OWNED BY THE LYCAN KINGS   CHAPTER 47: OLD MAID NEW MAID

Roman’s POVHer expression when she sees me is comical. I have to say that I had a hard time trying not to laugh at her face. Her eyes are nearly as wide as saucers, and I can tell that I was most definitely the last person she had expected to see.But that comical feeling she gave me disappears when my eyes travel down her body. She has lost a ton of weight and is almost as tiny as a twig. Her thighs have become skinnier, her cheekbones are a bit more defined, and she has grown quite pale. What the fuck? Isn’t she eating?Maybe this is all just in my imagination; I have never seen her in jeans and a sweater as big as this before. She is usually naked, so I am not used to her body covered in such clothes. I need a better look.“Get naked,” is the first thing I tell her, and I see something in her eyes snap. Her fists clenched, and I could have sworn I heard a growl. She bars her teeth at me, and her eyes grow livid. What is she upset about now? It is not like this is the first time I

  • OWNED BY THE LYCAN KINGS   CHAPTER 48: TELEKINESIS

Meredith’s POVI stare at the spot where Roman once stood with shock.I had a hard time processing what happened. He was actually sweet to me for the first time in a while. Even though he is certain I betrayed him, he still didn’t want anyone to hurt me. It kills me to admit it, but maybe under all that brutality and wickedness, there is a soft spot in him.Maybe.“Well, he sure has a stick up his ass, doesn’t he?” My eyes widen at the words of the new maid. I spin on my heel to find a mischievous smile on her face. I had to say that I was a bit shocked. All of the maids that served the kings were usually very loyal to them. Or should I say scared of them? Either way, they wouldn’t dare say anything bad about any of their precious kings. All except this one, of course.A nervous smile lifts my lips, and I chuckle lightly. “Yeah, he most certainly does,” I reply lightly, and the girl walks up to me and offers me a handshake. I stare at her outstretched hand with caution.“My name is

“Our kingdom has gone through trialing times this past year. We have lost so many of our people, family members, friends, and loved ones. This year will go down in history, and it shall be the last of its kind. A time like this will never step foot into the borders of Nuvia. Enemies tried to rule us; they tried to tear us down, but they couldn’t. Because we are strong. We are not like any other pack; we each have a fighting spirit so unique that has been placed within us. As Queen and Luna of the Nuvia kingdom, I swear to never turn my back on my kingdom ever again, even if it is for just a second. We, not just I, will learn from the mistakes made this year so they never happen again. We will rise from the ashes; we will become stronger, and if anyone tries to destroy this kingdom ever again, even after my reign, we will destroy them from the inside out instead.”Cheers, whistles, and praise filled the air as I concluded my speech. I stared at each and every Nuvian present; it was al

MEREDITH’S POVA gasp leaves my lips as I fill my lungs with oxygen. My eyelids come flying open, and my eyes lock with a pair of familiar sea blue eyes and honey brown eyes.“Welcome back to the living princess,” Saul says, and tears of joy well up in my eyes.“That’s queen to you,” I correct, and the both of them share a glance before chuckling at me. I jump to my feet to wrap both of them in a hug, but my feet wobble, and I lose my footing. Luckily, I land in Caelen’s arms, and he helps to steady me. “Easy now, queen. You just had quite an accident there. You might suffer from a concussion soon,” he says, pointing to my damaged car that is now lying in a ditch. What the hell? How did I even survive that?My eyes travel downwards to inspect my body for injuries. And surprisingly, there was none. But why did I have this burning pain all over? Like I was being beaten over and over again? When the realization dawns on me, my heart plummets to the pit of my stomach. My grip on Caelen’s

ROMAN’S POVI really am an asshole. This isn’t turning out the way I wanted. I thought that now that Meredith’s memories have been wiped out, I can finally have a brand-new chance to make things right. I thought I could fill her with stories that would benefit me.What a fool I was.The girl didn’t even trust me. She knew when I was lying and when I was telling the truth. She was my mate; she knew when I was telling the truth and when I was lying. It didn’t matter if she had lost her memories or not. That damn bond between us was always going to give me away. And my God, was she persistent. Since she didn’t believe me, she was doing everything within her power to uncover the truth. And at this rate, she was going to find out sooner than I would like. A sigh leaves my lips as I run my hand through my hair. Why did she have to be so damn persistent and go wondering around? But then again, I should have known better than to keep Lucia’s body in the same building as Meredith.I should h

Lucky.Focus Meredith! It takes a lot of strength, but I manage to tear my eyes away from him. careful not to wake him; I get out of bed as quietly as possible. I do a mini-victory dance once I am out of bed, then tip toe out of the room. My teeth clamp down on my bottom lip as I open the door slowly. My heart nearly flies out of my mouth when the door makes a creak. I shoot Roman a glimpse over my shoulder and say a silent prayer when I see that he is still sound asleep. Finally, I get the door open wide enough to slip out.I make sure to shut the door gently before pumping my fist in the air. Ah, yes, freedom at last. I do another victory dance once again but freeze when I see some maids down the hall starin

MEREDITH’S POVA chill runs up my spine, and I let out a breath through my lips. A mist forms and quickly disappears before my eyes. Every breath I let out, I would see it in the form of a mist. There wasn’t a form of light in this cold, dark room. The only light came from the moon’s gaze slipping through the cracks of a barely opened window. I could tell that I was still in the palace; I do not know how, but I just did. I dared to peek out the window, and my thoughts were confirmed once my eyes locked with the palace gates. But this room... Roman had taken me on a tour around the palace, but this room... I never saw this room. I spun around in a circle, noting the dust, cobwebs, and spiders that filled the room. But what caught my attention was the coffin placed at the center of the room. Surprisingly, it was the only thing in the room that wasn’t covered in dust. It was still clean and shiny, like it had just been recently placed there.I knew I should run; I wanted to. Because wh

MEREDITH’S POV“It is a pleasure to have you back with us, Luna.”Remember your lines! Remember your lines!Presently, I am in a meeting with the newly elected council member of my pack. Roman was seated by my right hand while I was seated at the head of the table. Where I ought to be. The council consisted of seven members, each seated according to their ranks and roles. After waking up yesterday and having Roman fill me in on the things he felt were important for me to remember, I instantly passed out again. I suppose I was having a storage overload and needed time to actually process everything. When I woke up, an entire night had already passed, and I was already getting ready to attend a meeting I knew nothing about. I stared at myself in the mirror for the longest time, trying to recognize the woman that stood before me in this fancy gown and heavy jewelry. Roman came in shortly after dressed in an all-black suit with a gold cross around his neck and a gold watch on his wris

MEREDITH’S POVMy goodness, I felt quite sore all over.My lips part to release a tired yawn. Goodness, I was so tired. And I was quite hungry too. It feels like I haven’t eaten in days, but I know I ate just yesterday. But what did I eat?” I do not remember. Come to think of it, where did I eat, and what is my favorite food? What was yesterday? There was nothing but questions that filled my head. Questions that didn’t have an answer. How strange.Slowly my eyelids peel open, and I am met with a pretty chandelier. I stare at it for some time before finally sitting up. A groan leaves my lips as I stretch my legs. This bed was quite comfy, was it mine? I do not even know. My eyes dart in every direction, and I am filled with more questions. Like, where am I? And whose room is this? Was it mine or was it someone else’s?So many questions...Throwing my legs off the edge of the bed, I rise to my feet but stumble a bit. “Woah,” I mutter as I try to find my balance. ROMAN’S POVI stare at Meredith’s unconscious body with a blank face. That is one thing I was blessed with. I could be dying of pain, and my face would still be this way. Hard as stone and cold as ice. Tears still spilled out of her shut eyes, and the sight of them did something to me.I can’t believe that this was actually happening. I just hope that she will find it in her heart to forgive me someday. But this... all of this was just for her. I hope she will get to see it.A loud cackle snaps me out of my thoughts, and my head tilts to Lucia, who had her head tilted back as she laughed wholly. “Oh, what a glorious day! This has to be one of the best days of my life. I remember meeting you for the first time, and you swore to defeat me. You had so much hatred and determination set in your heart, but where has that gotten you now? Absolutely nowhere!” She laughs in Meredith’s sleeping face, and my eyelid twitches. She was way too close to Meredith for comfort. Her lips were barely a

I was well aware of what was happening around me, but from a distance. Once again, my soul had left my body and watched the entire scene play out before me with a broken heart.I can’t believe that Roman has been helping Lucia all along. I thought that he had been with her the other night just to spite me. But going as far as stabbing his own brothers and helping her take over my kingdom was something I never would have imagined, not even in my wildest dreams. This... this was absolutely unforgiveable. Roman clothed my naked body before any of the vultures could come in before doing the same for himself. Once he was fully dressed, he asked Lucia, “What do you mean she will
