CHAPTER 112: DUEL

Meredith’s POV

Okay, maybe this was a bad idea.

I do not know why, but I expected Cassius to be a man in his early twenties with a gruff voice, beards, and protruding muscles. But that was far from the description of the man standing before me.

He was tall, very tall. No doubt seven feet.

He was built—incredibly built. Every part of his body was covered in muscles. He had to be in his late thirties, and the cruelty in his eyes was evident. His hair was black, probably as black as his heart.

The lines on his face show that he hasn’t smiled in years, probably decades. And no, I am not exaggerating. I could tell that he has brought about much suffering to anyone that has crossed him.

So, this is Cassius, the vulture's strongest soldier.

I looked like a child compared to him. This wasn’t going to be a fair fight, was it?

Something about this scene reminds me of the story of David and Goliath.

No wonder that man preferred to be detained rather than face this beast. But I can’t go back
