Chapter 25

I followed Miguel angrily after he turned away from me. He opened the car door for me without looking back. I got inside without acknowledging him. He sighed before starting the car engine.

"Fasten your seat belt, Ma'am Caroline," Miguel told me in a cold tone, which startled me.

I glanced at him. His gaze was fixed on the road. I immediately followed what he said and just looked out the window.

The ride was quiet. It was late at night, yet sleep still eluded me. I couldn't shake off what Miguel said before we left. He knew I didn't respond to Alexander and I never would. I didn't know what prompted him to say that.

"Alexander is your boyfriend. Do I need to remind you of that?"

I kept replaying his words in my mind. I discreetly glanced at Miguel while contemplating if I said something wrong earlier, causing him to act cold towards me.
