“This is not true! It isn’t me, Carson” she protested but she have already fallen into a big trap.
“Your mouth can lie but this picture will not!” he bellowed and threw the pictures at her which went flying on the ground. “For how long have you been cheating on me, Elissa?”
“Carson, believe me. It's not me! I would never do such a thing to you! She begged but it wasn’t of any use. She reached to hold his hand but he jerked away.
“How shameful! I knew you are filth!” Hera chimed in, pretending to be new to the truth. “How dare you cheat my son behind his back!” She stepped forward and forcefully grabbing Elissa’s arm, she made her face her. “Tell me, is that child in your womb that man’s?”
Elissa was aghast at what her mother-in-law said. “No! I-Its ours! It's mine and Carson’s” she defended herself and she placed her palm on her belly. “Carson, believe me. The pictures aren’t true!” she went on begging him. Seeing Elissa in such a pathetic state, stirred something in Carson’s chest. He refused to look at her and clenched his jaws hardly.
Elissa bawled. “How can this happen?” she cried. She looked down at the pictures, wondering who would frame her like this? She had no idea who that man was but even if she kept on protesting there wasn’t any use for that.
“Let’s divorce” Carson stated. Elissa’s face paled hearing the news and her mind went numb and cold. He met her eyes and repeated the words, “I want to end this marriage.”
Elissa couldn’t believe her ears. “No, Carson you cannot do this to me. W-we can resolve this, can’t we?” How naïve of her to still have hope for that.
Carson shook her head in dismissal. There wasn’t any room left for resolution and discussion. “But we love each other! How can you end this just in a blink?” she shouted.
“I do not love you anymore, Elissa. We are over.” No emotions, nothing. His hazel eyes held no emotions at all. It was as if he was doing a business meeting. It felt to her as if she meant nothing to her anymore.
“No! I don’t buy that! We took vows to love and cherish each other to the end!”
“Then you should have kept that in mind when you were hooking with that man behind my back!” he snapped at her.
Amanda walked towards him and slid her arm around his. “Don’t be mad” she said tenderly and acted intimate. Elissa felt like puking seeing the two acting close. Since when did these two start to get close and why was she not aware of that?
“I have called my lawyer. He has prepared the divorce papers and we only need to sign on that” he asserted as a matter of fact. Elissa was angry, pained, and traumatized. She felt like a fool who thought she had the best husband who doted on her dearly. Seeing him completely fine when Amanda brushed her fingers delicately on his chest, made her wonder about the time when he said that he hated when any other woman tried to be intimate with him other than her. She let out a bitter laugh and wiped her tears roughly.
“Is she the reason you are divorcing me?”
Without a change in his expression, he answered, “Yes. I love her.” Those words damaged her internally.
“Okay, I will sign the divorce papers.” What was the use of begging when he didn’t even love her?
Carson faltered a bit but regained his composure again. Clearing his throat, he said, “Good.” At that Hera and Amanda were on cloud nine. What they have planned was working! They both shared a knowing smile. Amanda tolled in between, “We love each other very much. Sorry but this wasn’t the way you should have found out.”
Elissa ignored her words completely. She felt like an outsider once again in this room. A sudden odd feeling that wasn’t able to comprehend. Now, she thought that there was only her and her baby.
However, Hera had different plans for that. “After you signed the papers, you will go to the hospital for abortion.” Elissa was staggered.
“No, I will not abort the baby!”
“Carson, tell her to abort the baby!” she ordered her son. Elissa had thought that no matter what, Carson wouldn’t be that heartless to abandon her own child.
Gulping and with a tensed expression, he said what his mother wanted. “You will go to the hospital for the abortion.”
“What?”
“You heard him. I don’t want you to have anything related to our family!” How could they be so cruel? Elissa’s heart and trust were completely shattered. She never thought she would have to see a day like this. “What are you waiting for? Go and sign the divorce papers.”
Carson sighed heavily and was the first one to proceed. Elissa mustered her leftover courage and went after him. Hera and Amanda walked after them, snickering among themselves about their successful plan.
The lawyer was already present in the living room along with the divorce papers kept on the rectangular glass table. The members took their seats on the couch and chairs. Elissa was trembling and tears wouldn’t stop flowing from her eyes. She felt tired and weak. Carson took the pen and without wasting any second, signed the papers quickly. At each paper he signed, Elissa felt her chest tighten to the utmost which made her unable to breathe. Carson was done and he shifted the papers to Elissa.
Elissa grabbed the pen with her trembling hand and read the words which were written boldly on the first page. DIVORCE AGREEMENT.
“Do it quick!” Hera urged with annoyance. Elissa signed and with that, the divorce was settled. From now on, they were no more husband and wife. From now on, she and Carson have no relationship. Now, Elissa was left with nothing.
“I will proceed this to the court. It will be done within two days” the lawyer said and took his leave.
“Take her to the hospital now,” Hera said. Elissa saw Carson curling his fingers into a fist sitting beside her. She peered her gaze up but instead of what she desired, she found the indifference on his face. Carson rose and told Elissa to come with him.
“Wait, I will come too” Hera articulated. She couldn’t trust her son at the moment. After all, she was carrying his blood and it wouldn’t take time for him to soften his heart. No one said anything and the four left for the hospital in the car.
Elissa's heart was beating fast as she reached nearer to the Waverly building. She was feeling anxious because she would be confessing her feelings to Carson. Reaching the building, she took the elevator, going up the floor. On her way to the hallway, she met Lin who was surprised to see her but also glad she had come. They gave each other a nod, and Elissa went to Carson's office. She didn't care to knock and simply entered. Carson was on his laptop. Files and documents were all over the office. It was a mess. Elissa's chest rose and fell when she saw him in front of her.Elissa took steps towards him and stopped in front of the desk. Carson had no idea Elissa was here, but suddenly, he snapped his head up and saw her in front of him. It felt as if he was dreaming. When he wanted to see her the most, she was here. Was he hallucinating?“Eli?” he croaked, involuntarily rising from the chair. “Are you really here?”Elissa smiled wide, tears started to make her view hazy. She went to hi
“Elissa!”Elissa flinched, coming back to reality after hearing Benjamin's voice. “Yes?” she croaked, positioning herself correctly on the chair.“Are you alright? I called you twice” he said. Elissa nodded, saying she was fine but she wasn't. She was thinking about Carson. She was worried about the company situation. Although she did help him with the design, she still thought it wasn't enough. She had the urge to go and check if he was doing okay but she had been holding herself back. She knew how workaholic Carson was, and he wouldn't rest until and unless the work is over.“Anyways, we have a meeting at ten. You need to be present there as well” Benjamin added. As he was leaving, she asked him about Carson. “Have you heard about Waverlys Group and Co facing a tough time?”Benjamin's left brow rose in curiosity, wondering why she was asking him about it. “Well, yes. I do am aware.”“Is it bad? Will the company go down or what?” Benjamin was a bit surprised to see the desperate worr
“Mommy, where is Daddy? Why hasn't he come today?” Lia questioned the moment Elissa entered the apartment.“He didn't come?” she asked. “He must be busy with work, sweetheart. Don't worry, he will come some other day” Elissa tried to assure her daughter.“Will he leave us? Will he go to catch fish again?” Lia pouted, making a sad face.“No, of course not. He is only busy with work, love.”“Call him!” Lia demanded. Elissa didn't want to call Carson even if she too wanted to know if he was okay. Elissa refused, making an excuse that she shouldn't disturb Carson but Lia wasn't going to buy that.As they descended to the living room, Elissa gestured to her brother to handle Lia but he shrugged, saying, “She had asked me about for the whole day, eating my brain out. I think you should just ask that lad. Lia will calm down by then.”“Mommy, please! Call him!”“Alright, alright. I'll call him” she agreed at last. Taking out her phone from her purse, she dialed his number and waited for him t
Raymond House,“You are hurting me, Ben!” Georgina cried, trying to break free her wrist but Benjamin had grabbed her wrist tightly, dragging her with him inside of the house. He pushed her forward. “What the heck, Ben?” Georgina scowled, looking at him with questioning eyes.Harold and Diane came from upstairs when they heard the noises. “What is going on?” asked Harold, looking at Benjamin then at Georgina.“I told you Gina. Haven't I? If you dare pull and tricks again, I will never forgive you. I have warned you, haven't I?” Benjamin glared at her. He looked scary for the first time since Georgina had been with him.She gulped, flinching by his words. “You lied to me, Gina! Not only to me but also my parents!”“What lie?” asked Harold.“She is not pregnant! She was never pregnant, Dad.”Harold's and Diane's faces formed in the shape of an O. This was shocking. Georgina panicked. Everything was going to end. What should she do? She thought to herself. She knew she couldn't deny it b
Elissa watched Carson play with Lia. She had wondered if he would be a loving father when they were planning for a baby, and it made her smile that he actually loves Lia more than she thought.Elissa also wondered why he hadn't come to her apartment for three days. He always popped in her apartment with a stupid smile but when he didn't came the past three days, she thought that he might have given up or that something might have happened back in home or the company. Her daughter kept on asking about Carson all day but she doesn't even know why he didn't came. She resisted calling him. She didn't want to show she wanted him there, that she cared about his presence.Elissa didn't realize that Carson was looking at her as well, a smile playing on his lips. She blushed and averted her gaze towards somewhere. There was a problem with Benjamin going on as well, and she had assumed it was most likely Georgina.“Hi” Carson breathed in her ear, making her jump on her place. Seeing her horrifi
When Elissa went to notify Benjamin about her work, she noticed he was tense. His forehead was creased and he was in deep thought that he didn't realise she had come in. “Excuse me, sir.”Benjamin blinked, coming back to reality. “Oh, yes, well, what were you saying?” he asked, turning on his laptop.Elissa gave him the pen drive in which her presentation was saved. “The work is done. If you can check it and let me know if there are any flaws, I will correct it before tomorrow.”“Yes, sure. I'll let you know in an hour” he said, his eyes narrowed at the laptop screen.Elissa was telling herself that she should mind her own business, but she couldn't stop her mouth. “Is everything alright, sir?” she blurted.Benjamin looked at her and she saw something was bothering him. He was fighting whether he should tell her anything or not. “Some personal issues. Nothing serious” he assured her with a tight smile. Elissa knew he had lied but she did not press more. She took her leave, closing the
