SOFIA
The ride back to his house was smooth. I was quiet in his car, afraid to even make a move that was going to irritate him. I did not know anything about lycans. All I did know was either fake or it was mixed with fabricated lies. Lycans were our superiors. The highest in the hierarchy. They were all billionaires and trillionaires who owned all of the businesses in the world. They employ alpha werewolves and give out alpha titles to whomever they see fit. Everything was practically a transaction to them, and we did not mind because without them we would be poor. The higher your rank in their companies, the richer you become and the more chances that you become the alpha of your pack. Mike got in by chance after our marriage and he became one of the richest werewolf alphas in the world. The lycan kings often never come in sight but have managers who relay their information. Their packs and palaces are so heavily guarded that only a small percentage of werewolves have ever gotten in. There were mixed stories that their house was made of ice and diamonds, and there were others that said they lived in a dreadful forest and looked like beasts which was why they never showed their faces. I couldn’t believe that I was going to see everything for myself now. When we reached the house, we alighted and the guards opened the door for me. I stepped out and looked up at the house that I had passed so many times but did not know who owned it. Who would have thought that a lycan alpha owned this house inside of our pack? I wondered how many times he had been here in disguise and no one knew. I walked towards the front door with Alpha Dane beside me and I felt like this wasn’t reality. It felt like I was stuck in a dream that I was going to wake up from soon. I looked over at him and he offered me a little smile as we got through the first door. “I am going to instruct some guards to get your belongings from the palace so you do not need to go back there. Is that okay?” He offered. I nodded, “Yes.” “Great. Why don’t you go and rest now? The sun is already down and you’ll need your energy for tomorrow’s flight.” He stated as he removed his long coat and handed it over to one of the guards. I swallowed hard, reminding myself of why I was doing it. I have lived here for six years of my life, even though they were not exactly the most memorable. I did not have any life here because I was practically restricted from having any friends for six years. I was not going to miss anything here, but it always feels weird to not be here anymore. I offered him a quick nod before I followed the one guard who was going to take me up to the room where I was going to stay. I let out a quick sigh when we reached the room, and marveled at how big it was. It was almost the size of my room back at the palace. “Here is your room. If you need anything just dial the first three numbers on the telephone by your bed.” The guard told me, and I nodded with a kind smile. When the guard left, I locked the door behind him then stripped down my clothes and entered the shower. I stayed there for what seemed like forever as I washed everything down the drain. The pain of being stuck in that dreadful marriage for six years, and everything Mike had made me go through. I wanted to put it all behind me and focus on my new life. Hopefully, Alpha Dane would be kind enough to give me a job that was going to sustain me well. I did not know him and I did not know what he wanted to do with me, but I had a good feeling about this. After I was done, I slipped into a robe and went to the bed and immediately went to bed. The next day when I woke up, I realized that the sun was already out and I had overslept. I cursed as I got into the bathroom and freshened up, then wore my clothes from earlier before I went outside to meet Alpha Dane. The downstairs area was bustling with different maids and guards around. They were carrying luggage and when I came closer, I realized that they were my luggage. They had already done everything. I thankfully do not have to go back to the palace or ever see Mike’s face again. “Good morning, ma’am.” The guard from yesterday stopped me. “Good morning,” I responded. “These are my luggage, right?” “Yes, ma’am,” he nodded. “Alpha Dane is in the study. He asked for you to come and see him when you are ready.” “Take me to him then.” The guard escorted me to the study where Alpha Dane was. I kept squeezing my hands to relieve myself of the anxiety of meeting him again. What if he had even changed his mind about me? So many questions were going through my head until we reached the study. The doors were extremely large, stretching several feet up. There were two guards designated to open it, and he opened it and revealed the study. The first thing that caught my eye was the library. It stretched up so high that I had to raise my head to look at it. “Impressed?” I heard a voice come, and I turned to look at him as my hands tightened around my satchel. Alpha Dane was dressed very casually in a white compressed shirt and pants. He was leaning back in his seat, making me more nervous than I expected to be. “Yes. Your library is very beautiful.” I commented. “The building has been in my family for five hundred years. Most of these books do not belong to me. My grandfather was the biggest bibliophile that ever lived in his time. So much that he had to place books in all of our anonymous homes spread out in the werewolf packs.” He explained. I smiled, not sure how to answer that. “Come and sit.” He gestured at one of the seats in front of his big mahogany table. I went over to the seat and sat down. I looked down in front of him and he was signing some papers. He was probably working. He had just finished signing them when he raised his head and looked at me. There was a kind smile etched on his face. He placed his hands on the table, entwining them, “So how are you feeling after yesterday?” “I feel better than I was. Thank Goodness I didn’t need to go back home.” I sighed. I didn’t know if I would have been able to look at them act all lovey-dovey after everything that happened yesterday. “And how is your neck?” I placed my hands there instinctively. I had almost forgotten that it happened, “My neck is perfect.” “Good,” he looked down at the first piece of paper and he slid it to me alongside a pen. I caught it before it slid off the table. “Mike brought the divorce papers when you were asleep. You can sign them now and you will officially be parted from you.” I raised the pen and I didn’t think twice before signing my name on it. I closed my eyes as a wave of relief washed over me. I couldn’t even believe this. It was finally over. No more Mike, no more staying in that dreadful house, and no more dealing with contraceptives. It was all over. “Done.” I handed the papers over to him. He collected them and did one last look into them before. “Also, there is one more thing I need to tell you before we leave.” Alpha Dane adjusted his seating position, his eyes blazing into mine. “What is it?” I asked. “I just went through some laws this morning that skipped my mind yesterday. Even as the alpha, I have to follow the rules that I imposed myself,” his throat bobbed as he looked down at his hands and then back at me. “If you are going to come with me to my pack and stay, then you will have to marry me.”SOFIA I froze. His words left me in shock. Did I hear right or I was only hallucinating?I fiddled with my hands, gently raising my head to him. “I'm sorry, I don't think I heard you right sir.”He swallowed hard, his gaze fixed on me. “If you'll be coming with me to my pack, then I want us to get married.”The words choked me. “I'm sorry, but why do I have to get married to you?”I was scared. Having just gotten out of an abusive marriage that lasted for six years, getting into another wasn't what I wanted now. What if he wasn't any different from Mike? There was no prior news about him, so there's no way I could tell.He smiled. Gosh!! That smile.It.. it made my heart flutter. Oh, was flutter the right word? I wasn't sure, but then.I remained quiet, my mind racing with thoughts.“Why do you want to get married to me?” Finally, I asked. He moved closer until only a few inches were between us. “I am not sure if this would sound nice to you, but I'd say it anyway. I need an heir t
SOFIA'S POVQuickly, I broke away from him.Damn it. How could I get so lost in my emotions that way? We both were panting. The longing for each other— it was quite visible in our eyes. For a minute, the air between us was tense. I gulped down saliva, fiddling with my hands.“I'm sorry, Sofia. I didn't mean to.”“It's okay..” He smiled. “You should complete your meal. I have some urgent business to attend to.”He sprung to his feet, moving briskly. I watched him until I could no longer see his figure.Frustrated, I sighed. At this point, I was confused. Thinking straight seemed quite impossible. Now that I had agreed to get married to Dane, I had this anxiety burning deep in me. Rushing into a new marriage had never crossed my path even once, but saying No to Dane wasn't quite easy. He was the Lycan king and seemed like a very good man. I couldn't be so sure though.“This is crazy.” I hissed and then continued with my meal. With every spoon that I took, I was remembered of the cold
SOFIA'S POV “What's the problem sir? Have I done something wrong?” Mike asked, confused.I was curious as well, if not more curious than he was. “Perhaps if you weren't blind, then you would realize that my Lady is standing right beside me, and deserve to be respected as well.”I grinned within myself, pride engulfing me. “Can you imagine the level of disrespect?”One glance at Mike and I could see the embarrassment flushed on his face. The joy it gave me, nothing could compare.Mike bit hard at his lower lips. “I'm sorry sir. I meant no disrespect.”“My lady, is sorry enough for the disrespect caused to you?”I chuckled. “No, it's not. A proper greeting would suffice.”Dane snapped his fingers dramatically. “You heard her right? Greet.”By this time, almost half of the people gathered, had their gazes fixed on us.Mike stare was hard and could have bore into my skin if it was possible. I could feel the rage burning deep inside of him. “Good morning Sophia,” the words traced from h
DANE’S POV Sofia appeared a bit anxious. It was in her eyes even though she tried concealing it.I had been dying to have her since the first day we met. Now, I wasn't sure I could hold up anymore. She had agreed to marry me already, and in a few days, we would be husband and wife. The thought alone made me excited.Somehow, this excitement shot through my body and down to my cock. It sprung up, ready for action. My hand was on Sofia's soft skin already. It managed to tickle me in a way I couldn't understand. No doubt, she was the prettiest of them all. Determined, I forged on, rubbing her thighs with reckless abandon. The hairs on her skin stood taut as I rubbed deeper. I was certain she wanted this just as much ss I did. Without hesitation, I moved towards her boobs, cupping them in my hands. The shock was written clearly on her face. Her jaws dropped in mesmerization.“We.. we shouldn't be doing this,” Her tiny voice rang in protest. It sounded more to me like a plea to protest
SOFIA'S POV I wasn't sure how many times I was going to hear how much Dane hated to be betrayed. Those were exactly what he wanted to tell me minutes ago. He had sounded so serious and firm, etching fear within me. “Sofia,” he called, his voice soft. My head raised to him, dying to hear what he was going to say. “Please, Make sure you do not betray me.”I chuckled even though I didn't find it funny. “Of course I wouldn't. What makes you think I would?”My brows creased as I awaited a response from him. “I'm not sure, and I don't think you would, I'm only just saying.’In those eyes of his, I could see the tension in them. The pain of past betrayal. It was heavy in those endeared eyes of his.I grabbed his hands. “You've got nothing to worry about. “I am yours now, and you are mine.”“Really?” His face brightened.I nodded, smiling. Dane pulled me closer, locking me in a warm and tight embrace.Suddenly, a knock rang on the door, disrupting us. “That must be the chef.”He rose to h
SOFIA'S POV I shuddered. The voice took me aback in no small way. Quickly, I turned my head and behind me stood a middle aged woman. She couldn't be more than forty five years of age.Her face was stern and frightening as well. “Mom,” Dane called, his countenance brightening. Oh, I thought as much.“Good afternoon ma'am,” I spluttered, still anxious. She ogled at me, unshaken.“Who's she?” She asked again. I swallowed hard, anxiety etching deeper in me. I fiddled with my hands as Dane spoke.“Mom. Meet Sofia, my soon to be wife.”“Wife?” She chuckled. A sinister grimace had worn itself onto her face already. “You didn't tell me about her before now.”“Really? I'm sorry about that.”“Sorry? Would that solve anything?”From the looks of things, I could tell she was going to be a pain in the ass. One enemy spotted already.I didn't like this, not a single bit.“What are you talking about, Mom? What else do you need me to do or say?”“Well, I don't know what you plan on doing, but as f
SOFIA'S POV “Have you gone mad? How dare you speak to me in such a condescending manner?” I chuckled, unperturbed. “I do not think I have said anything out of place, at least not yet.”“Really? I guess you seem to forget that I am still Dane’s mother, and I have the right to reject you as his mate.”I laughed. This time, her words were quite funny and I couldn't help it.“You seem to have forgotten what he told you when we got in. I am here to stay, and that's it. You can do whatever you want for all I care.”She moved closer to me until there was only a few inches between us. “A warning to you. Make sure you constantly watch your back. I cannot guarantee what's going to happen though.“Excuse me ma'am. It's that a threat?”I glared hard at her, my hands tightened into fists.A sinister grin etched on her face. “A threat? No it's not. It's a warning.”She sauntered off, hissing as she did. The door slammed right behind her, startling me.“Gosh!! This is crazy.” I sprawled out on the
DANE'S POV Charging into the room, my gaze rested on Sofia. She stood panting, beads of sweats cascading down her face.My brows creased as I moved forward. The fright on her face, I recognized it.“Are you alright?” I asked, worried. I pulled her into me, trying to calm her down.“Someone.. someone tried to attack me in the dream.” The words were faded, almost choked by her tears.“Attack you? Who's this person? Did you get to see whose face it was?” I inquired, trying to wrap my fingers around all that happened..She shook her head vehemently. “No, I didn't. The person had a kind of mask that made it impossible to see the face, but I'm certain it's a woman.”“A woman? How can you be so sure?” The words jumped out of my mouth. I was curious, unable to take my eyes off her.Worse was hearing those last words from her.“I'm sure it's a woman. The way she struggled with me was exactly the way a woman would.”I exhaled. A mirage of thoughts crossed through my mind and there was only one
DANE'S POV Watching Sofia speak gave me so much joy, more joy than I could ever have imagined.I was pleased, satisfied. “You did well, my dear,” I said, reaching for her hand as she returned to her seat. A kiss did I plant on it — warm, tender too.“Thank you.” She blushed, carefully addressing her dress. Staring at her alone gave me so much happiness. How lucky I was to have her, damn. The ceremony had begun in earnest, a long line of ladies walking forward. There wouldn't have been less than two dozen ladies there. All beautiful and stunning, none of them were as stunning as Sofia though. The Alphas' rose as well, one after the other. The process didn't take long, each crying the word ‘Mate’ as they connected with their mates.I watched it all in silence, my hand tapping gently at the edge of the table. Every second that went by left me quite disturbed.Sitting there and watching them all pick their mates brought back Old memories. Those memories that taunted me for years.“I sho
SOFIA'S POV I swallowed hard, completely uncomfortable. Did Dane just admit the he was partaking in the mate choosing ceremony? I was dumbstruck, my eyes filled with fear. Dane noticed this, pulling quickly towards me. He placed his hands over my cheeks.“What's wrong? Why have your face suddenly gone pale?” I was quite. None of this made sense to me. If he was going to select a mate, then what was I?“Sofia.” He sounded firm, much more than I ever heard him be. I raised my head to him, sadness clouding my thoughts.“Are you alright? This, the way you look, troubles me.” I exhaled. “You just mentioned that you'll be participating in the mate selection. What am I done?”Dane appeared shocked. “I never meant it the way you took it. I'm going to be there, not essentially partaking in their rites. I am the Lycan King and I have a duty to perform.”I felt relieved. Those words of his did the magic. “Are you satisfied now?” He grinned, tugging at my chest. I smiled, happy.“I'll get dres
SOFIA'S POV I was weak, completely void of any strength. Every ounce of it had been sapped minutes ago as Dane and I made love like never before.“I'm not going to stop even if you plead for me to do so,” he had said as he pounded at me with reckless abandon. He had been true to his words, doing exactly that.As I remained in bed down, cowered around his arms, a smile etched on my face. It was beautiful — being a wife to someone as loving and caring as Dane.“Why are you so quiet? Is something on your mind?” His thick baritone voice broke through the silence, reaching my ears.I snorted, still smiling. “It's nothing. I'm only considering how lucky I am to have you.“Are you? Well, that's a nice thing to do..” Dane chipped in. He was going to utter more words when selene's voice reached us from the doors.“Breakfast is ready, or do you both plan to remain locked up for the entire day?” We both laughed, finding her words and actions funny. My eyes rested on the wall clock, and only the
DANE'S POV Sophia laid in my hands after it was all done. Her ragged breath coupled with mine, allied with mine to create a not so pleasant sound to the ears.I sprawled out on the bed, stark naked with my cock in between my legs. “No doubt you loved the way I banged you, right?”She nodded, but that wasn't enough for me. I wanted to hear her say it. To hear her confess how much she loved me fucking her.“Say it baby. I want to hear it from those gracious lips of yours.” She giggled, rolling her eyes. She seemed shy, like a newly wedded bride. Well, that was what she was on the way.“You are always so good. I can't seem to get enough of you anytime you fuck me.” “Really??” I was thrilled to hear those words from her. My cock stirred gently, ready for more action, but my strength had been greatly sapped, and I needed enough time to regain it.“Since we’ve both agreed that we would be having four kids. Two boys and two girls, Don't you think we should be working overtime to achieve t
SOFIA'S POV Nothing excited me more than seeing Dane more calm than he usually was. A smile latched onto my face as I remained in his arms. His kiss — soft and tender, left me wanting more of him. I grinned, managing to control myself. We weren't alone in there and could do no more than kiss.“Why don't you join us?” I suggested, excited. He waved it off before I had even completed my words. “It's a women's thing. I'd rather leave you to it.”I rolled my eyes, feigning anger. “Fine then.”He dashed out of the room after waving at everyone, I especially. I loved it, waving back at him like one who was drunk in love.“You really do love him, don't you?” Selene asked, disrupting my thoughts. I nodded, “Of course!!”“It's obvious. The way you stare at him, your smile. Of everyone he's been with, you're the only one I can confidently say that you love him.”I blushed, not knowing how to respond. “Thank you,” I responded finally. We spoke for a few more minutes, each reeling with laughter.
DANE'S POV Anyone could have said that I was too harsh on Sophia, but I didn't give a damn about what anyone said or thought. How else could you explain those plants that were found in her wardrobe? If it was just placed gently in there, It was a different case entirely. It was carefully hidden, tucked away from human eyes. What would anyone have believed in that scenario? As I stood before, watching the tears flow freely down her face, a pang of guilt washed over me. I had never seen her so broken, and so emotional. “I didn't do it. I really don't have an idea how that got into my wardrobe. I'm sure.. sure someone have planted in it in there.”Wait.. this didn't occur to me, not until she mentioned it.“Someone must have done that so they could get between us. You have to believe me, Dane. You really have to.”Her entire body shook hard as she sobbed non-stop. I could bear it no more, and immediately pulled her into me. My hand patted softly against her back. “I'm sorry Sophia.
SOFIA'S POV I remained sprawled out on the chair in the living room, my gaze fixed on the TV screen that I had turned on. “What could be taking Dane so much time?” I wondered within myself, my brows creasing a bit.I pushed the thought to the back of my mind, going on with the movie that I was watching. It's been ages since I last sat before a television screen to even watch a show. Things were different now, and I had a lot of peace and happiness unlike before. The mere thought of it brought a smile to my face.Next, I heard the sound of Dane’s feet approaching. Finally, he had returned. I had thought he was going to spend the entire day getting the drugs. I raised my head to him, ready to tease him. I halted abruptly as I noticed the countenance on his face. He wore a frown, thick enough to terrify me. “Dane!!” I raised, worried. “What's the problem? Why do you look so upset? Did someone say something again?”I rose, walking quickly towards him. He placed a hand between us sha
DANE'S POV I jumped my face without wasting a single second. If Dane was ready to confess, then it was certain he had people backing him up.I knew all along that you couldn't have acted all by himself. The Alpha from the north— There was no way I could ever place my trust in them even though they have sworn their allegiance. They were corny, cocky, and deceitful. “Why don't you wait to finish your food? It might get cold before you return.”I nodded, agreeing with Sophia. With every spoon that I took, the anger in me heightened. It couldn't be helped. I was dying to know those what plotted against me in addition to Mike. Heavens knows what I was going to do to them. Maybe the heads on a spike would be enough punishment, or their bodies being dragged by horses along the streets.I remained patience until I had downed every ounce of food before me. Jumping to my feet, I walked off, Sofia following closely behind me.The air was tense, heavy as well. Sofia remained quiet. No doubt, S
SOFIA'S POV The name rang a bell in my ears. I froze, my eyes flickering incessantly.“Did you just mention Mike or am I hallucinating things?” I had my eyes fixed on Dane as I patiently awaited a response. He turned, his attention fixed on me. “Yes, that's right.”“What.. what is he doing here?” I shuddered, anger rising quickly in me. I swallowed hard, trying to calm myself down.“Who else do you think could have done that? The plants are only grown in his pack again which makes him the principal suspect. I brought him here for questioning.”The words of his— I didn't know if I should be pleased or upset that he didn't inform me.“But why did you inform me that he was here already? I really did want to see him. I want him to know that I am better off without him in my life.”Dane moved closer to me until there was only a few inches separating us. “He was only just brought to you this morning. I am sorry if I didn't inform you beforehand. Would you like to see him now?”I nodded, my
