Alpha Arnie stood in front of me a solemn look on his exhausted face, Luna Isabella wrapped her arms around his waist, offering herself as a pillar of strength.

“Where is Hugh?” I looked around, confused. My mother rushed to hug George who came up behind us with a sad look on his bloodied face.

“Oh my goddess!” she cried as she led George away to tend to his wounds with my sister who was sobbing away.

I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach, a mix of confusion and dread filling every fiber of my being. Something had gone terribly wrong. With trembling hands, I reached out to Alpha Arnie, my voice barely a whisper.

"Alpha Arnie, where's Hugh? What happened?"

Alpha Arnie's gaze fixed upon mine, his eyes searching for the right words to say. "Hallie, there was an ambush," he began, his voice filled with sorrow. "A group of rogue wolves attacked."

Fear gripped my heart as Alpha Arnie's words sank in. Hugh, my mate, had been injured in the attack. The rush of emotions from

“Hallie, I need a word with you?” Alpha Arnie and Luna Isabelle appeared in the doorway and I looked up surprised. They seemed on edge which made me a little nervous. It had to be more bad news. Was my brother okay? So many questions filled my mind. “I will be right back.” I promised Hugh and he squeezed my hand and smiled. He was tired and I knew that he needed to rest some more. I followed Alpha Arnie and Luna Isabelle out into the hallway, a feeling of apprehension creeping over me. They led me to a small secluded room away from prying eyes. "What's going on?" I asked, my voice filled with concern. "Is George ok?" Alpha Arnie sighed heavily, his usually authoritative stance seeming a bit more relaxed. "He is fine. He is currently resting. Hallie, we've received some troubling news," he began, his tone grave. Luna Isabelle chimed in, her voice laced with worry, "There have been reports of rogue wolves in the nearby territory. They've been causing trouble for the neighb

“George is asking to see you.” Luna Isabelle knocked softly on the door, interrupting our moment and bringing me back down to reality with a huge thud. My brother. Of course. He had also been hurt and I hadn’t even checked on him. “It’s ok, you go and see your brother, I’m not going anywhere.” Hugh attempted to prop himself up in the bed and gave me a reassuring smile. I got up from my chair, grateful for Hugh's understanding, and made my way out of the room. Luna Isabelle led me down the hallway towards my brother's room. As we walked, I couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt for neglecting George amidst all the chaos. When we reached George's room, I took a deep breath before entering. The room was dimly lit, with curtains drawn to block out the sunlight. My heart sank as I saw my brother lying in the hospital bed, his face pale and his body covered in bandages. "George," I whispered, my voice filled with concern as I approached him. His eyes fluttered open, and a w

I furrowed my brow, determined to understand the full complexity of the situation. "George, I may not fully comprehend the intricacies, but that doesn't mean I can't try. Please explain it to me. Let me help." George hesitated, his gaze fixed on our intertwined hands. After a moment, he took a deep breath and began to speak. "It's not just about Grace and the child. Grace’s family has some influence, an ancient lineage ingrained with supernatural powers. They have made it clear that if I were to reject Grace as my mate, there would be severe consequences for us and our entire family and pack.” A sense of dread crept up within me, and I tightened my grip on George's hand. "What kind of consequences?" I asked, my voice almost a whisper. His voice dropped, filled with fear and resignation. "They made threats, Hallie. They have the power to harm not just me but you, Mom, and Dad as well. I couldn't bear thinking of anything happening to our family because of my mistakes.

“Come on.” I guided Delia to a quiet spot in the corridor, away from prying eyes and sensitive ears. "Delia," I began gently, "I can only imagine what you're going through right now. It must be tough for you. But please know that I'm here for you, and we'll do everything we can to help make this situation easier for everyone involved." Tears welled up in Delia's eyes, and she let out a choked sob. "You are being so nice to me even after everything I did and said to you with Hugo! I just cannot stop thinking about George. Since I saw him, I knew he was meant for me and me for him. Why does he hate me? Why is this happening, Hallie? How could everything get so complicated? And what about George? Is he okay?" I hugged her, and she rested her head on my shoulder, letting the tears flow. “Delia, everything will be ok.” I tried to reassure her, but it was proving impossible. I wanted to be back with Hugo and ensure he was okay, but Delia was so upset, and I did not want to

“George, Veronica and Hallie, my precious children. I was so worried. Grace needs us to return to Moonstone. There is already a car outside the front waiting. Alpha Arnie has already permitted you to leave to return with us, Hallie!" My mother exclaimed, her voice relieved as she looked at the three of us sprinting towards her. "Oh, thank goodness. It's alright, we're all safe now." With a heavy sigh, I continued, "George will accompany you and Veronica back to Moonstone, but, mother, I'm afraid I must stay behind. Garson has become my home now, and I can’t leave my mate, Hugo." As I spoke those words, a glimmer of sadness flickered across her face, reflecting the weight of our parting. “I’m sorry, mother,” I said. Tears rose in my mother's eyes as she struggled to comprehend my decision. She reached out, her trembling hand grazing my cheek. "Oh, my dear child," she whispered, her voice filled with pride and heartache. "I never thought this day would come, but I understand. Gar

The next day I was up early and in the training grounds ready for a fresh new session. Saying goodbye to my family yesterday had been so emotional but I could not allow it to prevent me from focusing. Training became my refuge, a sanctuary where I could momentarily forget the chaos and uncertainties that surrounded the Garson pack. It was in the solitude of those intense training sessions that I found solace, reminding myself of the importance of having a clear mind in facing the challenges ahead. My dedication to training had always been my absolute top priority and even though my perspective on things like mates and bondings had shifted, I knew that my commitment to becoming a formidable fighter remained unaltered. With every relentless push, Hugh was there, urging me to go further, to delve deeper into my potential. His support became the catalyst that propelled me to exceed my own expectations. Alpha Arnie, Luna, and the pack as a whole recognized my dedication an

"I must say, Hallie, your dedication and progress in your training are commendable, especially given the current circumstances," Alpha Arnie remarked, his voice resonating with genuine admiration. He was right; everything had been crazy lately, but my training was still my top priority, and I had to focus on that. "Yes, Alpha Arnie," I replied, trying to keep my voice steady. "Despite the recent upheavals, I've been giving my all in my training. It's been a way to stay focused and channel my energy positively." The alpha nodded, a hint of admiration in his eyes. "I applaud your resilience, Hallie. It's not easy to maintain focus and drive amidst turmoil. But it's precisely during these trying times that we need warriors like you, who can rise above the chaos and set an example for the rest of the pack." His words filled me with a renewed sense of purpose. To be recognised for my effort and dedication was an honour, and I would not take it lightly. "Thank you, Alph

The next day, after my early morning training session, I sighed in disappointment when I couldn't reach my family on the phone. They must have been busy or had their phones on silent. I decided to call them later after my fight against Alpha Arnie's top warriors. Feeling a mix of nerves and anticipation, I headed for a refreshing bath to clear my mind and prepare myself mentally for the challenges ahead. The warm water washed away any lingering doubts, leaving me feeling ready and focused. After drying off, I slipped into comfortable training clothes and crawled into bed for an early night, eager to rest well and wake up refreshed. As the alarm sang its bright tune the following day, I sprang out of bed, feeling a surge of adrenaline already coursing through my veins. Today was the day I would face Alpha Arnie's top fighters and prove my mettle. I made my way to the training grounds, a vast field surrounded by towering trees that swayed gently in the morning breeze. The ground

The imposing silhouette stepped into the soft fairy light, revealing a gaunt, twisted face I had hoped never to see again. A sense of dread washed over me like icy tendrils - this was no mere foe but the same evil force that had held Veronica captive, the monster we had fought so desperately to defeat. He was trying to trick us into thinking it was two different people."Don't tell me your pitiful little mind has already forgotten our time together," he sneered, fixing Veronica with a predatory stare that made her tremble violently. I stared at Simone, disbelief and curiosity warring within me. Part of me wanted to dismiss her claims as nonsense, but a small voice inside me pleaded to listen, to consider the possibility that my father may still be alive. "What do you mean by 'forces at play'?" I finally managed to ask, my voice trembling with fear and hope. Simone's gaze intensified, her eyes locked with mine. He had to go into hiding to protect you and your sister. My family did what they could to help. But we will discuss this in the morning. It’s late now, and you should get some rest. Reluctantly, I climbed into the car, my every muscle tense with defiance.
