Chapter 4 : Announcing My Luna
Kaya’s POV. So I stood there, staring at the girl who had just passed out cold in front of me. Her body was limp on the ground, her breathing shallow but steady. Kai growled impatiently in the back of my head. “Well, this is just perfect,” Kai muttered. “She faints. Great. What now, genius? Wait for her to wake up? We don’t have all day.” I sighed, rubbing my temples. “You think I planned this?” I muttered under my breath. “You kinda did,” Kai huffed. “If you hadn’t gone all ‘I’m a big scary wolf,’ maybe she wouldn’t have fainted.” “Excuse me?” I glanced down at the unconscious girl, who looked way too peaceful given the mess she just caused. “She’s the one who attacked us, remember?” “Details,” Kai grumbled. “But now what? We just stand here like idiots, or do we do something useful?” I looked around, clearing my throat. I could wait for her to wake up and explain… whatever this whole situation was. Or… I could make things a bit easier. “I could kidnap her,” I said, half-joking, but Kai immediately spoke up. “Finally! Now you’re talking!” “Whoa, whoa, whoa.” I held up my hands. “That was a joke. We don’t just *kidnap* people.” “Why not? She’s our mate. That’s kind of what wolves do.” “We’re not cavemen, Kai,” I said with a roll of my eyes. “And she’s not some… prize to haul away.” Kai let out a low growl. “You’re thinking too much like a human again. You felt it. The bond. We can’t just leave her here, vulnerable, waiting for some other predator to stumble upon her.” I groaned. “So, what do you suggest? I just throw her over my shoulder and drag her back to the den?” “Exactly!” I pinched the bridge of my nose. “You’re not helping.” Kai was quiet for a moment, and then I could feel his presence in the back of my mind—strong, insistent. “Look, Kaya, she’s our mate. That means something. We can’t just leave her here, not when we’re supposed to protect her.” I knelt down beside her, brushing a strand of hair away from her face. She looked so small and fragile now, nothing like the fierce wolf I had fought only moments ago. There was something about her, something that tugged at me in a way I couldn’t explain. “You know this is insane, right?” I whispered. “Absolutely,” Kai agreed. “But it’s also the only thing that makes sense.” I hesitated for a moment longer, glancing around the forest as if expecting someone to jump out and tell me this was all some kind of prank. But there was no one else here. Just me, Kai, and this girl—my mate. With a sigh, I stood up and gently scooped her into my arms. She was lighter than I expected, her body fitting against mine like she belonged there. “All right, fine,” I muttered. “We’re doing this.” Kai let out another growl. “Told you!” “Yeah, yeah, don’t get cocky,” I grumbled as I started walking. “Now, let’s hope she doesn’t wake up halfway there and freak out.” “If she does, we’ll deal with it,” Kai said, sounding way too pleased with himself. “Besides, it’s not like she can resist us.” “That’s not the point, Kai,” I said through gritted teeth. “We want her to *like* us, not run screaming in the opposite direction.” Kai huffed. “Details.” I shook my head. “What will others think?” Kidnapping my unconscious mate was not exactly how I imagined this day going. But then again, nothing about this situation was normal. At least now, we were getting somewhere… even if that “somewhere” involved kidnapping. I trudged through the forest, the girl still slung over my shoulder like a sack of potatoes. Every now and then, she made these little noises, like she was about to wake up, and I’d freeze, half expecting her to freak out. But nope—still out cold. Lucky me. Kai was far too pleased with this whole situation. “See? Easy. She hasn’t even punched us yet.” “Yet,” I muttered, trudging through the last stretch of trees. “She’s going to be furious when she wakes up.” “Eh,” Kai said, sounding way too smug. “She’ll thank us later.” We reached the edge of Pretta, my territory. I could see the tall and large gates of the kingdom up ahead, the guards already staring at me like I’d grown a second head. Well, this was going to be fun. As I walked through the gates, I noticed everyone around me was stopping whatever they were doing to stare. Great. Exactly what I needed—an audience. I sighed but kept walking, heading straight for the center of the village where I knew the pack would be gathering. By the time I got there, a small crowd had formed, all of them gawking at the girl over my shoulder. I could hear their whispers—people trying to figure out what was going on, why I had a woman draped across me like a hunting prize. “What is the alpha doing?” “Is that—did he… kidnap someone?” “Wait, is she dead?” I rolled my eyes and set the girl down carefully, making sure she was still breathing. Then I stood up and cleared my throat. “Listen up!” I shouted, loud enough that everyone within a hundred yards stopped talking and turned to look at me. I crossed my arms over my chest, trying to look as authoritative as possible. “I have an announcement!” They all stared at me, wide-eyed, waiting for whatever ridiculous thing I was about to say next. “I found my mate!” I declared, waving a hand toward the unconscious girl at my feet. “She’s going to be the Luna of this pack!” The reaction was exactly what I expected. The entire crowd gasped together like I’d just announced I was going to marry a squirrel. People started whispering again, only now it was louder, more frantic. “His *mate*?” “*Her*? The Luna?” “This is insane!” I grinned, satisfied with the reaction. Kai was practically purring in my head, smug as could be. “Told you this would go well.” “Yeah, yeah,” I muttered. “Don’t get too comfortable. We still have to deal with—” Before I could finish, there was a groan from the ground. I froze, my eyes snapped down to the girl—*my mate*—who was slowly waking up. Her eyelids opened, and she blinked a few times, clearly disoriented. I watched as she propped herself up on her elbows, looking around. Her eyes landed on me first, then on the crowd of people staring at us like we were some kind of spectacle. She frowned, her brows furrowed as she tried to make sense of the situation. “What…?” I scratched the back of my head, suddenly feeling a little awkward. “Uh… hey.” Her eyes narrowed. “Why are all these people staring at me?” “Well…” I shifted on my feet, rubbing the back of my neck. “I might’ve told them you’re my mate and the future Luna of the pack.” Her eyes widened, and she sat up straighter, staring at me like I’d just said the most ridiculous thing she’d ever heard. “You what?” she demanded, with her voice raised in pitch. I grinned sheepishly, taking a step back. “Welcome to Pretta?”Chapter 5: My Mate The girl shot up from the ground like she’d been lit on fire. Her eyes blazed, darting around the crowd before landing on me with pure fury. “Excuse me?” Her voice was sharp enough to cut through steel. “Your *what*?” I took a step back, hands up in surrender. “Okay, I know this is a lot to take in, but—” “A lot to take in?” She was on her feet now, brushing dirt off her clothes like it was my fault she had passed out in the first place. “You drag me here, tell me I’m your mate in front of half a village, and you think that’s ‘a lot to take in’? You’re insane!” Kai stirred in my mind, his voice cut through my thoughts. ‘She’s feisty. I like her.’ I ignored him, focusing on the ticking lava in front of me. Eris was seething, her fists clenched at her sides as she glared up at me like she wanted to rip my throat out. “Look,” I said, keeping my voice calm. “I know it seems crazy, but we’re mates. I felt the bond the second I saw you.” “Bond? I don’t care about
Chapter 6: My ScarsEris’s POV. Sweat broke down on my forehead while I was sitting on the edge of the bed, gripping the blanket tight in my fists. The maid had already helped me wash off most of the dirt from my hands and legs, but my heart was racing, like my skin was crawling with unseen threats. The doctor sat nearby, smiling in that too-friendly way that immediately made me suspicious.“Let me check on you, dear,” the doctor said with a calm and soothing voice. “It’s just routine. You’ve had a rough day.”I narrowed my eyes. Seven growled low in the back of my mind. ‘Don’t trust them,’ she warned. ‘They’re wolves too, but they’re not *our* pack.’She wasn’t wrong. I didn’t know these people, I didn't trust them. And I sure as hell wasn’t about to strip down and let this doctor see what Darius had done to me. The scars. The whip marks. No one had seen them in years, and I wasn’t about to start showing them off now.“I’m fine,” I muttered, keeping my voice low but strict enough
Chapter 7: The World Will BurnKaya’s POV: I stormed down the hallway, my fists clenched tight at my sides. The heat surged through my veins, my heart felt quickened, my muscles so tense they ached. The image of her scars-deep, ugly lines slashed across her back-burned in my mind. My stomach twisted with rage."Kai, did you see that?" “Uughh!” I growled, slamming my fist into the wall. The brick cracked under the force, leaving a gaping hole behind. I didn't care. The anger was too much to hold in.‘ I saw,’Kai said, his voice unusually quiet. 'Whoever did that…’He stopped speaking, but I could feel it-the same fury coursing through him. Kai might be a relentless, stubborn wolf, but this... this was different. We weren't just talking about territory or dominance anymore. This was about pain, cruelty."They hurt her," I muttered, my chest heaved. "They didn't just hurt her. They tortured her, Kai. Someone did this just to make her suffer."I could feel Kai pacing in the back of m
Chapter 8: Wider Eris*The food sat in front of me, untouched. It smelled good, rich and warm, but I couldn’t bring myself to eat it. Every time I looked at it, my stomach twisted. I didn’t trust it. I didn’t trust ‘them’I could sense the alpha lurking behind my door. I could smell his strong presence. It was like a heavy weight pressing down on me, reminding me that I wasn’t safe here. I was trapped. The day dragged on, but the knot in my chest only grew tighter. Every passing hour felt like a countdown. The sun had set, and darkness had fallen over the castle. That’s when I knew—I had to leave. Now or never. ‘This could be our chance,’ she whispered. ‘We can’t stay here. We need to run. Get out.’I agreed with her. Staying here would only bring more trouble, more pain. I couldn’t be caged again—not by him, not by anyone. The window was my only option. It wasn’t too high up, but the fall would sting. Not that it mattered. I’d had worse.I climbed onto the ledge, glancing back at
Chapter 9: You’re So Doomed! Darius hit the ground hard, and everything went quiet. The silver-white wolf stood over him, with a bleeding fur. I wasn’t sure if the blood was his or Darius’s. He was breathing heavily, but Darius didn’t move. He was done.He shifted back into his human form. His clothes were torn, but he stood steady, strong, and in control of his body.He looked at me, and for a moment, I was scared he might come for me next. But he didn’t.He walked over to me, and my heart raced. I didn’t know what he wanted. Darius was defeated, but what would happen now?The alpha reached out and touched my arm. His grip was gentle yet firm, but it didn’t hurt.“Are you okay?” He asked in a quiet voice. I nodded. I couldn’t speak. The fear and panic were fading, leaving me feeling exhausted, tired. But I was safe, for now even though, I didn’t know what to do next. With his help, I stood up, but then I saw Darius’s black wolf rise up.“Watch out!” I yelled and pushed him to t
Chapter 10: I Will Protect You Kaya's POV*My body was struggling now, my moves were sluggish, and my wolf was stumbling with every step. But it wasn't from the wounds he gave me. I could feel it—the burning in my veins, the way my strength was slowly slipping away. His fangs. They were poisoned. That was his plan all along: to weaken me, to make sure I couldn’t fight him at full strength."He poisoned us," I muttered under my breath, gritting my teeth against the wave of dizziness that hit me.‘I can feel it too,’ Kai growled in my mind. ‘He’s trying to take us down with dirty tricks.’I shook my head, trying to clear the haze that clouded my vision. I couldn’t fall now. Not with her so close. I looked at Eris, and that’s when it all clicked. The way she trembled, how she flinched whenever Darius touched her… I saw the scars on her back, faint but clear. They weren’t from a recent fight—they were old, healed but still there. Scars from a whip, crisscrossing over her skin. My br
Chapter 11: Our Wedding?!~ Eris ~ Slowly, I lifted my head. It felt heavy and throbbing. The first thing I noticed was the strange smell—something sharp and bitter. Medicine. I blinked, trying to make sense of where I was. My neck felt stiff, and when I tried to move, I realised it was wrapped in bandages. My head too, “what?”I was covered in medicine, and the scent was strong enough to make me want to gag. My body felt weak, and there was a dull ache everywhere. What happened to me?Before I could think too much, the door opened, and a maid stepped in, carrying a tray. The sight of food made my stomach rumble, reminding me that I was starving."You're awake!" The maid looked relieved. She hurried over, setting the tray down beside me. "I'll get the doctor right away."I didn’t say anything. I just nodded, more focused on the food than anything else. The smell of it was comforting, and I didn’t care what it was—I just wanted to eat. The maid left, and I started to reach for the
Chapter 12: I Want It Or Not I couldn’t breathe for a moment. Tomorrow? A wedding? Seven, in my head, was just as stunned. ‘What did he just say?’ she whispered.I didn’t know what to think. Everything was happening so fast. I felt a panic rise in my chest, and I turned to leave, but before I could take a step, he spoke, “sleep well, my wife.” ‘Wife?’I couldn’t sleep well all night, thinking and wondering what if? I was also too hurt to leave, and when my eyes were ready to close and dreams wanted to claim me, people entered the room.Maid after maid bustled in, carrying clothes, fabrics, and other strange items I didn’t recognise. In a blur, they surrounded me, pulling me to my feet, fussing over my hair, my skin, my clothes. Their hands seemed to move quickly, smoothing over my skin with oils and creams. "Wait, stop—please, I—" I tried to speak, but nobody listened. One woman was already combing through my hair with a brush, another draping silks over my arms, and two more were
