THIRD POV
Damon was furious. At the moment, he was in the woods, pacing about as he racked his head on what might have gone wrong. All of his efforts to lay claim to the throne were thwarted, making him look like a failure.Several times, he approached King Salvador, trying to sway him but he was so smart that he got the hint almost immediately and as if that wasn't enough, he slid off like he was an eel.He was still in this position when Elder Richard appeared in front of him and after looking around for a while, he locked gaze with him.“Putting pressure on the rest of the elders seems impossible.” He blurted, making Damon clench his fist by his side as he grunted in agony.“Elder Fred! What is his take in this?”“Just like the others!” He mouthed and after a few minutes of silence, he leaned towards him and with a voice barely above a whisper, he said, “I don't think you can overthrow Princess Nora.”HiNora's POV On my return to the throne room, I met my father and mother seated. They are having a bit of a conversation. Not wanting to disturb them, I stood aside, shifting my weight from one leg to the other until they noticed my presence and at once, mother gestured to me. “I’m sorry I called you out here. You should be getting some rest by now but this matter needs urgency.” She helped me to sit, afterwards took her seat next to me. Taking my hand, she placed it on her thigh and then placed her hands on top of it. “Nora dear, it's time you find yourself a mate. You shouldn't think you don't need one because of your status or anything.” She took a brief pause and then picked up the pace. “The job of the leader is grueling, you need someone to stand by you each time and also give you the will power to go on, don't you think?” She flashed me a smile as she rubbed my arm. “Ye
Nora's POV" Father!"" Nora, my hands are tied. I know how hurt you were when that Carlos rejected you. But you should try and move on. I believe it made you stronger and the person you are today. You need someone by your side to be a great leader-"" And that person is Karen? I don't love him, father-"With a wave of his hands, my father cut me off." But you are friends, right? And from all indications, I can tell that Karen loves you. I will be at rest if it's Karen because he would do all he can to protect you." " But father-"No matter how much I tried to convince my father that I wasn't interested, he didn't listen to me. His mind was already made up and it was frustrating. My mother who had been silent, suddenly cut in. " Do you still want to go back to Alpha Carlos? Or have you found a second chance mate?"I was taken aback by my mother's question and without hesitation, I shook my vehemently." Of cours
THIRD POV The meeting with Nora did nothing but to make Vina furious even though she tried to maintain a cool demeanor back there. At the moment, she was leaning against the cold wall with her eyes tightly shut as she reviewed her words in her head. To think that Nora was going to get betrothed to Karen was driving her insane and she wanted to put an end to it by any means. Clenching and unclenching her fists as tears rolled down her cheeks in torrents, she tried not to allow the discovery to overwhelm her but it was to no avail. “I can't allow Nora to have Karen for herself. She already has everything at her disposal; she can't have him to herself, never.” She mumbled, falling on the floor as she pulled her hair. Vina continued this way with no hopes of stopping anytime soon. Drained, she fell asleep and when she woke up, she did so with a start as she began to look around frantically until she could recognize her current
Carlos' POV Craning my neck, I tried to get a glimpse of the person walking towards me only to let out a low hiss when I discovered it was one of the maids. It has been over half an hour since I have been under the stump of the baobab tree, waiting for Nora to make her presence.Just when I was about to leave, I saw her hurrying in my direction and at once I went cold, taking a deep breath as I watched her every move. Now standing in front of me, she kept panting as she tried to control her heavy breathing while I looked on. “I had to attend to something really important.” She said in a breath. When she finally calmed down, she tugged her hair for a while before settling her gaze on me. “The maid said you sounded urgent, is there an issue?” Her voice sounded sincere and it warmed my heart. At least, she still cared about me. “Yeah!” I nodded, swallowing the lump that had risen in my throat.Feeling uneasy,
Carlos' POV Still furious with me, Justin took his leave and once again, I lowered myself on the stump of the tree only to start walking about a few minutes later. Nora! The name kept ringing in my head despite all my efforts to shake it off. Biting my lower lips, I pushed my hand into my hair and then let out a low sigh of frustration. If I was told before now that I would be in this kind of situation, I wouldn't believe it. I have always planned out my life to be smooth without any form of stress but that wasn't the case. The more I thought about it, the angrier I was with myself as regret washed through me. Remembering Vina’s words, I tried to find solace in it but it was useless, not after the constant rejection from Nora. “She claims she doesn't want to have anything to do with me, why can't she reject me? Why is it difficult for her to do so?” I grunted but before I could find answers to my questions, a deep voice ren
Nora's POV Vina was acting strange but I haven't confronted her yet. I wanted to be certain I wasn't the one making up scenarios in my head before I did. As if on a cue, Vina walked past with a deep frown etched on her face feigning not to see me. Grabbing her by the arm, I pulled her backwards, “What is the issue? You don't look good.” I pointed out, worriedly. Flashing a smile at me, she pushed her hand into her hair, flashing me a little smile with an uneasy look on her face. “I am sorry, I didn't see you.” She muttered. Returning her smile, I went ahead to rub her arm, the smile on my face never leaving even for a split second. “You can tell me what the issue is and I promise to help in any way I can.” Going further, I added, “You are my cousin and my best friend. I can't sit back and watch you sad without doing a thing.” When she began to look around, I held her wrist and then pulled her to my bedroom so
Matured ContentNORA POV What I really needed was some time alone to gather my thoughts, to reflect on my choices and figure out what was truly best for me. The forest air hit me hard on my face yet I was still feeling hot. I had run quite a distance and found myself out of breath, unsure of where I was headed, but desperate for a moment of solitude. Suddenly, I heard the sound of twigs snapping and sensed a familiar presence nearby. Tapping into my wolf instincts, I sniffed the air and snapped a twig, ready to confront the intruder.“Who are you? Show yourself and stop hiding!” “Nora…” a voice called from behind me. It was a voice I recognized all too well—the same one that had caused me pain, yet I still longed to hear it because of the way it made me feel.I felt the wetness of my clit the moment his voice filtered through my ears. I swallowed hard, trying to steer my mind away from the sensuality rapidly building
NORA POVI kept running all through the night as my wolf couldn't stop howling in my head. I could sense her disappointment and also her hesitancy. She must have known I was hurting, thus she set aside her feelings toward Carlos. It was almost dawn when I went back to the palace. I sneaked into my chamber, shutting the door behind me softly. I leaned against the doors, my chest heaving with exertion. I couldn't believe I had let Carlos get to me like that. I had always prided myself on my control, my ability to keep my emotions in check. But Carlos had somehow managed to break through my defenses. His words, his touch, had awakened something within me. I felt like I was losing myself, like I was drowning in my own desires.I pushed away from the door and began to pace back and forth across the room. I needed to regain my composure, to remind myself of my duties. I couldn't let Carlos get the better of me. As I paced, I felt my heart rate slow, my breathing steady. I was in control a
CARLOSI jolted awake, instinctively reaching for the arrow wound in my shoulder. My fingers found only smooth, unbroken skin. Confused, I sat up quickly, bracing for pain that never came. No wound, no burning poison, nothing—as if the attack had never happened. The sun had shifted position; I'd been unconscious for at least an hour. My gaze immediately sought and found the girl, who sat a few feet away, her back against a moss-covered tree. She looked even worse than before—pale as death, her makeshift bandage soaked through with blood, her breathing shallow."You healed me," I said, my voice rough from disuse. It wasn't a question. She looked up slowly, those strange amber eyes finding mine. Despite her weakened state, there was something fierce in her gaze, something ancient and wild that called to my wolf.I moved closer, examining her more carefully. She was youn
CARLOSI caught the scent of blood on the wind before I even reached the border. The acrid smell of fear mingled with the metallic tang of freshly spilled blood triggered every fighting spirit in me as I steadied towards the borders. I pushed myself harder, sprinting through the trees toward the sounds of battle. When I finally broke through the tree line, chaos greeted me. My border warriors were locked in fierce combat with at least twenty rogues who had somehow managed to breach our first line of defense. Bodies—both my pack members and rogues—already littered the ground."Alpha Carlos!" shouted Devin, one of my guards, as he knocked down a rogue. "They came out of nowhere, in formation!"I shifted immediately, bones cracking and reforming as my wolf took over. The familiar rush of power surged through me as I lunged into battle, taking down the nearest rogue with a singl
CARLOS POVI watched Nora sleeping, her face finally peaceful after hours of restless tossing. The moonlight streamed through our bedroom window, casting silver shadows across her features. Even after five years, I still found myself marveling at her beauty, at the strength she carried within her—even if she no longer remembered it.Her agonising scream shook my heart. The headaches were becoming worse. And her inquisitive too. I could hardly avoid her piercing questions and gaze. Just like now.Her episode earlier had shaken me. The one at the library had my heart on the edge. I was afraid of her recalling it all, again. Yet, the name she'd spoken—Karen—sent ice through my veins. She was starting to remember, and that terrified me.Alongside her questions.I quickly found an excuse of calling the healer, as distraction. Yet, she wasn't ready to give up. I
NORA POVI woke up with a start, my eyes searching all around. I was already in my bedroom with my hands clasped tightly. I tried to recall what happened. The last thing I remembered was being with Carlos in the library and then…“ Arghh!” I let out, biting my lips tightly to hold back the raving pain. The splitting headaches had returned, stronger this time. These headaches didn't seem normal. Biting back the pain and discomfort, I clawed at the sheets with my body trembling. I could taste and feel the huge droplets of sweat trickling down my spine. As much as I tried, I couldn't stop the pain hitting me once again. This time, it hurt like hell!I wish I could make it stop. I was on the verge of losing it. The hand clasping mine held it even more tightly. As if afraid to lose me. His scent hit my already messed up head and somehow, I seem to want m
The splitting headache made Nora grunt in pain. The headaches were becoming more frequent for the past three months. Not only that, even the dreams were starting to get real. The wolf that kept calling out to her in her dreams was just too real. And powerful. Five years had passed since the battle, and Nora was living a quiet life in Eagle Pack. She worked as a librarian, surrounded by dusty books and whispered conversations. Ruling next to Carlos as the Luna of the Eagle Pack gave her immense joy, not to talk of her kids whom she doted on. Finally, she had the life she wished for…Or so she thought…Her days blended together in a haze of routine, but her nights were a different story. Nora's dreams were a jumbled mix of images and emotions, but one was constant. It was the wolf. A majestic creature with piercing yellow eyes and fur as white as snow. The wolf would pad through Nora's dreams, its presence both comforting and unsettling.Who was the wolf, and why did it haunt her d
FIVE YEARS LATER The sound of light tapping on the intricately designed table swept across the gloomy pack hall. It wasn't just the sound, but an incredibly powerful aura that seemed to suppress the fearful growls of the wolves around. The man tapping on the table looked up, his mask covering half of his face. He stood up and walked towards the center of the dimly lit hall, his piercing eyes scanning the gathering of werewolves. The air was thick with tension, the only sound was the soft hum of enchantments that prevented eavesdropping. The wolves let out fearful whimpers as they drew away. The masked man chuckled lightly, his eyes fixed on a particular wolf. The gaze seemed to pierce this particular wolf. Then with a deep voice, he asked. “ What's the update from the spies?" A buffy wolf, the one the masked man was looking at, took two strides closer to him before turning into his human form as sounds of bones breaking and painful growls rented the air. With a deep bow and a hand
Reader's POV With the Ancient Clan now destroyed, peace and calm returned to the packs. It had been two months since the war and ever since then, Nora had been living like every other wolf, not having any of her past memories. The only thing she remembered was that she was in love with Carlos, the son of the Alpha, nothing after that. Living with her foster parents who she still believed were her biological parents, she found her footing once more as she began to bond with them and those that were around her as she lived her normal life. “Nora!” Her mother has called. “I'm coming, please hold on.” She yelled back at her and when she finished the task she was working on, she rushed to join her. “I'm sorry, I had to tidy up.” She said, rubbing her hand on her forehead. Smiling lovingly at her, her mother held her cheek with a hand while using the other to trace the outline of her jaw. “I wish you were still like before, I have missed that strong part of you that g
Nora's POVInstead of the pain to come as I had expected, I felt nothing. The dagger which I had been holding onto had been flung from my hand, causing me to snap my eyes open. The person that appeared in front of me made me stagger backwards with my lips parted and with a shocked expression on my face. For a moment, the world seemed to have gone still as I stared at the people in front of me. Back at the forest, Karen had died in my hands and then Carlos' whimper made me run to his side only for him to breathe his last almost immediately. Taking in a deep breath, I pushed my hand into my hair, trying to speak but I couldn't find my voice. “What is going on here?” I asked, alternating my gaze from Elder Silvarum to Carlos with a relieved look on my face but at the same time I was curious and shocked. Not saying a word to me, Elder Silvarum tightened his grip on Carlos who was standing next to him. Ignoring my curious mind, I ran to meet with Carlos with a bright smile on my fac
THIRD POV Carlos who was still battling with the wound from the arrow tried to pull himself to his feet but he couldn't as he didn't have anything to lean on. Crawling on his belly, he finally made his way towards a tree trunk and with all the strength he could muster, grabbed the tree and then got on his feet but he still couldn't move his foot. Wincing in pain as he clutched his upper chest where the arrow had pierced him, he watched as Reika and her opponent found tirelessly. Taking his gaze off the fighting wolves, he allowed them to land on Karen who was lying on the ground weakly. After handing the pendant to Nora, he lost all of his strength and then returned to his normal self. Staring at him in anger, the only thing ringing in Carlos' head was to finish him off in his vulnerable state but he couldn't bring himself to do it. Thanks to his timely arrival where he had given Nora the pendant, else it would have been something else by now. “He saved Nora.” He muttered, bit
