NORA'S POV

I woke to the sound of birds chirping, their melody sharp and unfamiliar. For a moment, I thought I was back in the penthouse, the illusion so convincing that I reached out instinctively for the warmth of Sam’s side of the bed. My hand met rough, scratchy fabric, and the truth came crashing down.

I sat up with a start, my head pounding. This wasn’t the room I’d fallen asleep in. My hands were free though they still hurt from the bind. I rubbed my hands against my wrist and felt my tummy. The baby kicked and I felt a sense of assurance wash over me.

I looked around taking in my new surroundings; I was in a cramped cabin. The walls were wooden planks, uneven and unfinished. There was a small table near the window, a single chair, and a fireplace that looked as though it hadn’t been used in years. The only light came from a sliver of sunshine squeezing through dusty blinds.

I felt lightheaded as I swung my legs over the edge of the bed. “Where am I?” I murmured, my voice sha

SAM'S POV The Bennett estate felt colder than usual, a heaviness in the air that I couldn’t shake. Even the light through the windows seemed dimmer, like the house itself knew something was wrong. I stood in the foyer, trying to process everything that had happened. Jacob—someone I trusted—had betrayed me. I couldn’t believe it. The weight of it hit me hard, and the shock still hadn’t worn off. I never thought something like this could come from within my own family. Then there was Nora. She was still missing, and I had no idea where she was or what had happened to her. My mind wouldn’t stop racing. Had her disappearance somehow been tied to what I’d just learned about Jacob? Of course! I was losing my mind. Was she in danger because of him? The uncertainty ate at me, made it hard to focus on anything else. The house felt so different now, like it was reflecting everything I was feeling. It wasn’t the same place it used to be, and neither was I. I was standing there, trying to hold e

NORA'S POV I stared at Daniel, the phone clenched tightly to my chest. The coldness in his voice still echoed in my ears, and the sharpness in his gaze froze me in place.“Put the phone down, Nora,” he repeated, each word clipped and deliberate.“I just want to call Sam,” I said, my voice trembling despite my best effort to sound strong. “He’s probably worried sick about me. You know that, Daniel.”His jaw tightened, a muscle in his cheek jumping as he stepped closer. “You think

The tension between us was thick, suffocating.“Open it,” she said, her voice sharp.I shook my head, placing the folder down on the desk without even looking at it. “I can’t do this right now, Gen.”Her scoff was loud and full of frustration. “Can’t? Or won’t?”

NORA'S POV The silence of the cabin pressed against me, broken only by the soft creaks of old wood and the distant rustling of trees outside. I sat cross-legged on the floor of my room, the loose floorboard before me like a crack in the fortress Daniel had built around me. My fingers traced the jagged edges of the rusted nail I’d pried free days ago, my heart racing with the knowledge that this could be my only way out.The baby moved suddenly, a sharp, insistent kick that pulled my focus to my swollen belly. I placed a hand over the spot, whispering, “Just hold on a little longer, sweetheart. We’ll get out of here. I promise.”

SAM'S POV The past has a way of creeping back in when you least expect it.I hadn’t thought about Elias Roosevelt in years, but the moment his scarred face emerged from behind that mask at the gala, memories came rushing back. His voice, sharp and mocking, still haunted me as I prepared to meet him now, hoping against hope he’d have answers about Jacob—and Nora.Genevieve had arranged the meeting, insisting it was our best lead. I wasn’t sure if I trusted her judgment or if I was just desperate enough to cling to anything.

NORA'S POVHe looked at me like I’d just stumbled upon a terrible secret I wasn’t meant to know. “Forget I said that,” he muttered, his tone evasive.“No,” I said firmly, my voice rising. “You don’t get to do that, Daniel. You’ve been dragging me through this nightmare, claiming you’re protecting me, but you’ve been lying the entire time. Start talking. Now.”He sighed heavily, running a hand through his hair. For a moment, I thought he might shut me out again but his expression clouded with something between frustration and guilt.“You’re right,” he said finally, his voice low. “Jacob does have a child. With Evelyn.”I stared at him, the weight of his words settling over me like a stone.Daniel leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees. “Evelyn was always an outsider to your circle, Nora. You know that. The Bennetts didn’t make it easy for her, and Jacob… he was her only tether. But their relationship wasn’t just some fling. It was real. And it produced a child, a child Jacob i

SAM'S POVThe door slammed behind me, the sound barely registering as I stormed out of the meeting with Elias. My fists clenched, knuckles white, I could still hear his words echoing in my head: “We don’t have her. Good luck, Bennett.”Good luck? I didn’t need luck. I needed answers. I needed my wife back. The crisp evening air did little to cool the frustration boiling in my veins. My car was parked nearby, but instead of getting in, I turned and started walking. My thoughts were a whirlwind, one that wouldn’t settle no matter how hard I tried to focus.Jacob. Evelyn. Isabella. Nora.I rubbed my temples, the weight of everything pressing down on me. Genevieve’s words earlier in the week clawed at my mind. “You can’t see what’s right in front of you, Sam. Isabella isn’t innocent.”And the folder. God, why couldn’t I open the damn folder? Why did I freeze every time I thought about it?Was it guilt? Loyalty? Or was there still a part of me—a twisted, broken part—that liked Isabella?Th

NORA'S POVIt was Genevieve. “Sam,” Genevieve’s voice was sharp, cutting through the fog in my head. “Adrian Blackwell is here. He wants to see you.” Adrian. Of course, Genevieve would call him. My jaw clenched. “I’m on my way,” I mumbled, hanging up before she could say more. I called the chauffeur, barely managing to give him coherent instructions to pick me up. When he arrived, I slumped into the back seat, my head leaning against the cool glass. The city lights blurred together, mirroring the mess in my mind. When we pulled up to the estate, I knew something was off. The lights in the drawing room were blazing, and silhouettes of people crowded together were visible through the windows. I stepped out, wobbling slightly as I straightened my jacket. Inside, the tension was suffocating. Everyone was there—my father, Jacqueline, Genevieve, Isabella, Alice, and Adrian. Their faces turned to me as I staggered in, the heavy scent of

It couldn’t.My legs moved faster, almost breaking into a run as the rain lashed against my face. Water pooled in the cracks of the pavement, splashing up my legs as my breaths came in sharp, panicked bursts.Images of Nora flashed in my mind—her smile as she held Zoe for the first time, the warmth of her hand in mine, the fierce determination in her eyes when she promised we’d face everything together. She was too strong, too stubborn to be gone.“No,” I whispered, shaking my head as if I could dislodge Isabella’s words. “No, she’s not.”Isabella was lying. She had to be lying

NORA'S POVThe first thing I noticed was the sharp, sterile smell of antiseptic. My eyes fluttered open, the world around me blurred and disjointed. My side ached with every shallow breath, the sting of a freshly treated wound grounding me in reality. I was alive…but where? The room was dimly lit, the single fluorescent bulb above me flickering faintly. Medical supplies lined the walls—gauze, syringes, and bottles I couldn’t identify. The cot beneath me creaked as I shifted, and my heart raced when I heard faint voices outside the closed door.Where am I?I tried to sit up, the motion sending a sharp jolt of pain through my torso. My hand instinctively went to my side, feeling the bandages beneath my torn shirt. The memory of Lisa Caradelli raising a gun flashed in my mind.Suddenly, the door creaked open, and my breath caught.Daniel stepped inside, his presence filling the small room. His dark hair was damp, his shirt wrinkled as if he’d been up for hours. His expression was unreada

My mind felt like a whirlpool, spinning with problems and decisions, and I needed air. Before heading out, I stepped into the nursery. Zoe was awake, her tiny fingers grasping at nothing, her big eyes blinking up at me. A faint smile tugged at my lips despite everything.“Hey, princess,” I murmured, lifting her gently from the bassinet. Her warmth grounded me, even if only for a moment. I held her close, kissing her soft forehead. “Daddy’s going to fix

JACOB'S POV The rain battered against the windows of the Caradelli mansion like a thousand tiny fists, but I barely noticed. I was sitting in Evelyn’s chair, the one by the fireplace she always claimed was too extravagant but secretly loved. The faint scent of her perfume lingered in the air—a mix of jasmine and sandalwood. It clung to the fabric of the cushions, haunting me.I ran a hand over my face, fingers trembling. My chest felt hollow, as though the part of me that had been alive, that had fought for this moment, had been ripped away when Evelyn jumped.

NORA'S POV The mansion was stifling, every corner weighed down by tension. Sam’s weary face stayed in my mind as I paced the room, the bloody baby shoe still etched in my memory. The news about Charles and the company collapsing only deepened my resolve. Sam might not admit it, but he needed help—desperately. And if I couldn’t bring peace to this storm, who else would? The Caradellis were the answer. Or at least, I hoped they were.I stopped pacing and looked out the rain-streaked window. The thought

SAM'S POV The house felt colder after the Morettis left, their veiled threats lingering like a dark cloud. I made my way to my father’s study, the one place where I could think. The scent of aged leather and cigar smoke still clung to the air, and I sank into his chair, the weight of the world pressing down on me.I closed my eyes, trying to drown out the noise in my head. • No Longer Yours, Billionaire Ex-Husband   Chapter 157

SAM'S POVThe storm outside raged, its howling winds and heavy rain mirroring the turmoil brewing within the Bennett mansion. I stood by the window of the drawing room, my hands clenched into fists as I watched the sleek black cars roll up the driveway.“They’re here,” Adrian said grimly from behind me, his voice low but brimming with tension.I turned away from the window and straightened my jacket. The Morettis had chosen their moment perfectly—while the family was on the verge of collapse, drowning in scandal and grief. This was a power move, and I wasn’t about to let them see any sign of weakness. When Adrian had told me of the meeting, I had simply nodded. Let them come. When the heavy oak doors opened, Margot Moretti was the first to step inside. She was as poised and calculating as ever, her sharp black dress hugging her figure, her eyes glittering with cold amusement. Luca followed closely behind, his expression subdued, almost weary, while Phillipe Moretti exuded quiet menac

SAM'S POV The mansion was unnervingly quiet, the kind of silence that pressed against your chest and made it hard to breathe. Rain streaked the windows, casting shifting patterns of light across my father’s study. His scent—woodsmoke and old books—still lingered here, a painful reminder of his absence. The space felt heavier than ever, filled with memories that refused to fade. I closed my eyes, desperate for a moment of clarity, but all I could see was Charles’s face on the screen."My mom was killed by the Bennetts."The words echoed in my mind, sharp and unrelenting. It wasn’t the bloody shoe or even the mounting threats that gnawed at me most—it was him. Charles. The boy who had looked at me with such openness, such curiosity, as if he wanted to understand what it meant to be a Bennett. A boy who, for a brief moment, I thought could break free from Jacob’s grasp.I had started to care for him. That was the worst part. Despite everything, I had seen pieces of the Jacob I used to k

NORA'S POV The rain was still falling in sheets when I pulled into the driveway of the Bennett mansion. My hands trembled on the steering wheel, my pulse racing from my encounter with Jacob and Daniel. The weight of Jacob’s threats lingered like a shadow over me, his words echoing in my mind.“Evelyn is dead because of you. Sam deserves to feel the pain I feel.”The mansion loomed ahead, its grand facade now a reminder of the chaos within. I stepped out of the car, the rain soaking through my clothes in seconds, and hurried toward the front door. By the time I entered the warm foyer, I was dripping wet, shivering f
