Chapter 16

Author: Summer Frost
"Damon, what are you doing? Let go of me!" Jeanette struggled with all her might.

Damon restrained her arms and held her down like an iron-clad wall so that she would not be able to break free.

Jeanette took a deep breath, and just as she opened her mouth and was about to tell Damon off, her body was in mid-air.

Damon threw her on the sofa, and immediately after Jeanette landed on the sofa, she quickly grabbed a pillow and placed it in front of her body to protect herself.

However, Damon was facing her, glancing at her indifferently. He then turned around and went upstairs.

"Huh?" Jeanette was taken aback.

The reason he had suddenly carried her was to just carry her to the sofa? Was it that plain and simple?

Damon Orion Godfrey, what game was he trying to play today!?

After Damon went upstairs, he never came down again. Jeanette's mind was all jumbled up as she watched TV in the middle of the night absently. She was in a constant state of excitement and was not sleepy at all.

The hour hand of the clock on the wall pointed to 12. Jeanette turned her head and took a glance upstairs as she bit her lip.

Damon was sleeping in the master bedroom, so she could only sleep in the guest room tonight, but… when Jeanette stared at the spiral staircase, she did not feel like going up at all.

She called the housekeeper to get her a blanket as she had decided to spend the night on the sofa tonight.

The housekeeper quickly brought over a blanket.

Jeanette wrapped herself in the blanket and curled up on the sofa comfortably as she watched TV. She could go straight to sleep if she was sleepy.

Finally, Jeanette was starting to feel a little sleepy. However, the sound of an opening door in the quiet villa echoed as she was getting drowsy. She immediately became awake and glanced at the corridor.

Damon came out!

He took a few steps down the stairs and made his way toward Jeanette. He then stood in front of the sofa and lowered his head as he stared at Jeanette, who was wrapped like a cocoon.

"Are you going to bed?" he asked the same question again.

Jeanette blinked and replied, "I'm sleeping on the sofa."

Damon stared at her and for a while, not saying anything.

Jeanette's heart started beating faster, and she shrank into the blanket. "What… What are you doing!?"

Damon picked her up along with the blanket. "Taking you to bed." His answer was clear and concise.

However, Jeanette thought about last night's pain and torture, and she never ever wanted to sleep with him like that again. She struggled with all her strength. "Damon, you jerk! Let me go! If you dare touch me, I… I… I'll kill you!"

Damon looked down at her, and a smile seemed to flash across his lips briefly. Jeanette thought that she might be seeing things as ever since they had gotten married. He had never smiled in front of her.

Jeanette felt her body in mid-air again.

Damon threw her on the bed, and the blanket that was wrapped on her body spread open. He then grabbed a corner of the blanket, and she rolled out like a white and tender radish.

Damon immediately went on top of her and embraced her in his arms without taking no for an answer. After that, there were no other movements from him.

Jeanette slowly stopped struggling.

When he said "take you to bed", did he actually mean sleeping? Was it that simple?

Damon's arms were tightly wrapped around her waist. His chiseled and handsome face was buried in the back of her neck, and she could feel his warm and long breath on her tender skin.

Jeanette could not believe Damon just fell asleep like that.

On the other hand, Jeanette's heart started beating violently. If he was not going to do anything to her, why did he come back?

He even held her as he slept.

What did that mean? After two years, was he finally ready to accept her?

The thought made Jeanette's heart beat so fast that it was almost out of control. Her palms were all sweaty. Could it really be like this…

Jeanette could not sleep almost all night. She finally fell asleep in a daze when it was approaching dawn.

When Jeanette was half-asleep, her cell phone suddenly rang, and she stretched her slender hand out of the blanket and fumbled about to find her phone.

The moment she saw the caller ID, she was immediately wide awake.

I’m not leaving with you.”Felix suddenly emerged from his room, holding a teddy bear, just as the pair were in the midst of conflict. He widened his large, limpid eyes and looked at Damon at the doorway. His expression filled with immense joy.“Daddy!” The little boy smiled and happily rushed to wrap his arms around Damon’s waist. “Daddy, are you here to take Mommy and me home?”Damon smiled and gazed at his clever son, a god-send, and spoke in a gentle voice. “Of course. Would you like to come home with Daddy?”“Yes!” The little boy’s voice was clear. Then, he carefully turned to Jeanette. “Mommy…”Jeanette frowned. Her heart was a mess. Felix missed his home. He was such a small child and had been forced to endure the conflict between her and Damon. He must have suffered. However, she couldn’t go home with Damon like this.

Jeanette was standing in the kitchen, staring dazedly at the pot of burnt potatoes, looking exasperated.‘I’m such an idiot! I’ve actually managed to burn potatoes… by boiling them. This is completely unheard of! It’s all my fault for being so careless. I left the potatoes to boil and ran off to do something else. I was so busy that I completely forgot about them, until two minutes ago, when I smelled the burnt potatoes. Then I remembered that mine and Felix’s dinner was in that pot. All of the water had actually evaporated!’Jeanette felt a massive headache as she stared at the blackened potatoes stuck to the pot. This was the only food they had at home. Now that the potatoes were ruined, she had no other choice except to take Felix out for food. She scratched her head in exasperation. Felix appeared from behind her, hugging the teddy bear she had just bought for him, and walked into the kitchen. He lifted his chubby, naively little face and stared pitifully up at Jeanette.“Mommy
