Chapter 25

Abigail’s POV

I had a lot of unspoken questions yesterday. The entire action of the snobbish looking girl and the way she acted towards Logan stirred up a lot of questions within me. My guess was that maybe she was his girlfriend or someone he had a crush on because I saw the way she glared at me when Logan intertwined his arms with mine.

If looks could kill, I’m sure I would have been six feet under by now.

As much as Logan tried to conceal the tired look on his face the previous night, I could still tell that he was probably stressed about whatever discussion he had with his father and that girl.

I really appreciated his gesture of excusing me from the entire conversation. It would have been an uncomfortable and weird situation for me.

I sprayed perfume lightly on my neck and wrist, the vanilla scent of the perfume overpowering the room. I was going to visit my mother today at the hospital. Logan had left the villa very early as usual. I had informed him earlier that

Chapter 26Abigail's POVI stayed with mother till visiting hours were over then I boarded a cab back to the villa. During my journey to the villa, I pondered upon the reason why Helena decided to do what she has been doing and I couldn't come up with any reasonable explanation as to why she was acting that way.In a short while, I arrived at the villa and appreciated Mrs Johnson once again for taking out time to prepare my mother's meal. I went up the stairs and realised that Logan wasn't home yet. I felt a feeling of relief wash over me as he probably won't be aware that I came later than I normally should. Not that he gave any strict warning in particular today.I felt he was becoming a bit more lenient in terms of my freedom and I really appreciated that. The simple act of him handing over his keys to me the previous night showed that he indeed had developed some sort of trust in me.Even If I had it in mind to run away yesterday night, that singular act of his would have change

Chapter 27 Abigail's POV After my discussion with Gigi, I was left feeling entertained for hours. Because Gigi's funny and her high pitched voice kept on playing in my head. But she had not instructed me to be very careful and I plan on doing that. Having another Helena in my life wasn't an agenda for me. I even went ahead to tell Gigi about how Helena had been frequently visiting my mother in the hospital, and she also agreed that it was really suspicious. I just needed my mother to get through her surgery and become free from the bondage of cancer Gigi and I agreed to meet up later this week. Which was something to look forward to. The bedroom door was suddenly opened and a tired looking Logan strolled in. “Welcome back” I greeted, offering him a small smile. “Thanks, Abigail” he said as he shrugged off his suit jacket and walked towards the walk in closet. A few minutes later he came out clad in only his underwear. “What time did you get back today?” He asked as he laid

Chapter 28 Logan’s POV Few weeks later, “Quit daydreaming!” Gabe said as he swatted my back lightly, his eyes fixed on the screen as he frantically clicked the buttons on the gamepad. I fixed him with a death glare and just as I was about to question him on the reason why he swatted me, he let out a sigh of frustration and flung the gamepad. I would be surprised if it doesn’t sustain a scratch from the impact. “Nooo!” He exclaimed as he dropped the gamepad in frustration. They were playing a football video game and he happened to have lost the game. Eli, his opponent, on the other hand had a calm expression on his face and his lips twitched upwards in a slight smirk. Gabe played the game so enthusiastically and with so much energy, and it came as a surprise to me that Eli actually won the match. What an irony! “That’s unfair!” Gabe lamented, his lips downturned in a pout. “Life’s unfair” Eli said with a shrug, calmly placing the gamepad on the couch. Yes, we were in the

Chapter 29 Abigail’s POV “Do you need anything else before I leave?” Logan questioned from his position across the dining table, opposite where I sat. I paused for a while, then shook my head affirming that I wouldn’t be needing anything. I took a spoonful of the scrambled eggs placed in front of me, and chewed quietly. “Good,” he said calmly. “If you eventually need something, call me or text me,” he added. I nodded with a mouthful of scrambled eggs, “sure” I said, my voice appearing muffled. Over the past few weeks, Logan had improved drastically as compared to when I initially arrived. It’s either we are beginning to get used to each other's company or he is just changing for the better. He stood up, immediately making the room appear smaller with his physique, then adjusted a small crease on his navy blue suit jacket that was tailored to perfection. “I will be on my way now. Text me when you get back from the hospital” he said. “I will.” I assured him with a nod. He picke

Chapter 30Abigail’s POVI ordered a cab and in less than thirty minutes, I arrived at the villa. Immediately I got down from the cab, I brought out my phone and texted Logan, informing him that I had returned to the villa just as he requested—or more like ordered— I did before he left for work. The security guards opened the gate upon sighting me and I nodded in appreciation before strolling further into the compound. I twisted the gold rimmed handle of the glass entrance door and stepped into the sitting room. I could hear chatters coming from the direction of the kitchen, which was quite unusual given that Mrs Johnson rarely ever had a guest over or even enjoyed engaging herself in chit chats. I walked towards the kitchen in a bid to drop the lunch bag and also appreciate Mrs Johnson once more for her kind gestures. I halted in my tracks when I stepped into the kitchen and spotted Camilla trying to converse with Mrs Johnson—which looked futile as Mrs Johnson just appeared to hav

  • Nine Months Surrogacy Contract    Chapter 31: turmoil and joy

Chapter 31 Abigail’s POV My entire mood was ruined throughout the day. I knew at the end of the contract the baby will end up not being mine but being reminded of that by someone like Camilla made me feel even more disheartened. When Camilla noticed I wasn’t giving her the attention she craved, she left the room and I resumed with my drawing. Not so long after Camilla left the bedroom, Logan stepped into the room and from the espression on his face it was obvious that he was pissed off. I wondered if he met Camilla or she had already left before he arrived. I stood up and got on the bed then covered myself up with a duvet while Logan stepped into the bathroom. After a few minutes, he stepped out of the bathroom. “How is your mother?” He asked as soon as he stepped out. I could feels his gaze on me. “Getting better by the day” I gave him a short, clipped answer. I felt his gaze lingering on me for a few minutes before he said, “good” “Are you sure?” He asked again, to my supri

Chapter 32 Logan’s POV“I have told you multiple times to not let that surrogate come between your relationship with Camilla! Why are you staying in the same bedroom as your surrogate?” My father’s voice came from the speaker of my computer. I leaned on my swivel chair and slowly tilted it from left to right. “Son?! Are you listening to me?” My father called out when he didn’t get any reply to his rants. “Yes, sir” I said with a nod. “So, answer me” my dad said again, pressing for an answer. “Dad, it is because of the nature of the surrogacy contract. And please, tell Camilla to stop interfering in matters I do not involve her in” I said calmly. The other day I got back from work and met Camilla in my home looking so pissed off. I questioned her on why she had come to visit and why she didn’t inform me prior to her arrival but I got no response. It was after she left that I realized she probably saw Abigail in my bedroom. This conversation with my father only proved that my as

Chapter 33Abigail’s POVWeeks later,Today makes it two months since I arrived at Logan’s villa. It was expected that I would have been pregnant by now but there has been no sign of that. I stretched my arms as I surveyed the room, once again Logan was nowhere to be found. I shifted the duvet away from my lower half and got down from the bed. I walked to the large window and slid the curtains open, welcoming the warm ray of sunlight into the room. I walked towards the bathroom to freshen up and on my way to the bathroom, I caught sight of a paper on the desk which was the result of the pregnancy test that was taken at the hospital yesterday. Logan had been quite positive that I would test positive for the pregnancy, but if he was disappointed about the result he surely didn’t show it. There really shouldn’t be an issue with me getting pregnant except there was a mixup with the test results. I found it quite surprising that he hasn’t made an attempt to terminate the contract yet.I

Chapter 42Logan’s POVThe pregnancy was progressing well, everything was going according to plan and I couldn’t be more glad. Today my group had a meeting with the boss. By my group, I mean Gabe, Eli and I. As usual, I was up early. I had a cup of coffee before setting out but not after making sure to spell it out to Mrs Johnson that Abigail must not miss any meals and all meals must be given at the appropriate time. And of course, I didn’t forget to remind the guards of their duties too. I even went as far as threatening them. I opened a compartment in my car where I kept items needed for meetings like this. By items, I meant weapons. I pulled out a pocket pistol from the stack of weapons and slid it into the pocket of my trouser. The pocket pistol had to be my favorite weapon because of its portability and concealable nature. My phone buzzed with a notification from Gabe, ‘hurry up, butt head. We are running late’. I rolled my eyes at the newfound name, then pressed on the acce

Chapter 41 Abigail’s POV After the pregnancy was confirmed positive, Logan made sure to even double his protectiveness. If I thought his protectiveness earlier was choking then this was way worse. I really couldn’t go anywhere without a guard by my side. Yes, he even went as far as assigning a guard who follows me each time I go to visit my mother. I felt like my new found freedom was confiscated once again. Logan rarely took me along to events like he started doing recently. I was already one month gone, so I decided to visit my mother more frequently now. Before I start showing. As usual, Mrs Johnson prepared the meal I would carry along to my mother. I carried it along and began my journey to the hospital. In no time we arrived at the hospital and I instructed the guard to wait outside the hospital room while I went in to see my mother. I gathered enough fund with the support of Sebastien and I was able to pay for the surgery. The doctors were able to remove the tumor succe

Chapter 40Logan’s POVAfter the occurrence at the dinner party, the entire week was uneventful. I was surprised that I wasn’t getting any calls from my father reminding me to reach out to Camilla. I haven’t done that and I do not plan on doing that any time soon. A smile formed on my face as I recalled how responsive Abigail was on Sunday night. It only made me glad that I was able to please her in the best possible way. We were still awaiting the result of the pregnancy test that was carried out at the hospital. Today makes it two months since Abigail moved into the villa and it has been the best two months of my life so far. Coming home each day knowing I would meet her had to be one of my favorite parts of the day. I wish the result would come out negative because that would give me more time to carry out my plans effectively and also it would increase the months we have to spend together. The vibration of my phone in the pocket of my trouser broke me out of the train of thoug

Chapter 39Abigail’s POVLogan nodded, “I believe I didn’t stutter. The lady over here is my surrogate”Camilla’s father had a confused expression on his face, “Son, I do not understand. Why do you have a surrogate? When did this all happen?” Camilla’s father asked, then turned to give Logan’s father a confused look. Logan’s father looked like he wanted to be anywhere but here. “It isn’t what it seems like. My son got a surrogate when he discovered that Camilla couldn’t beat children” Logan’s father tried to explain. Camilla’s mother sighed, she also had this issue in her marriage. They also had a surrogate but unlike her daughter, she was fertile enough to contribute to the pregnancy. “Did you discuss this with my daughter before making this decision?” Camilla’s mother, Bridget, questioned Logan with a straight face. “Your daughter is aware of this. She isn’t just taking it well because she feels insecure. Not to mention, she was out of the country when I decided to get a surrog

Chapter 38Abigail’s POVJudging from the huge modern mansion that was in front of us, it was quite obvious that Camilla’s parents were wealthy and well to do. There were cars parked at each side of the huge car park in front of the house. Logan effortlessly drove the Mercedes in between two other cars and then stopped the engine. He stepped out of the car leaving me inside the car and a few seconds later the door to the passengers seat was open and he stretched out his hand towards me. “Come on” he said with a nod, gesturing for me to take his hands. I placed my small hands into his larger ones and he helped me out of the car. I held onto his hand to stabilize myself because I had on my feet a stiletto heel. As soon as I was able to stabilize myself Logan placed a hand under my chin and tilted my head upwards, “you’ll be fine, I promise. Just stay by my side” then he intertwined his arm with mine and we made our way to the entrance. The pleasant aroma of various dishes that were

Chapter 37Abigail’s POV As the day of the dinner party drew nearer, I found myself getting more and more anxious at the thought of how the whole event could play out. A part of me strongly believed Logan’s assurance that nothing would go wrong. But, another part of me still had the feeling that something was going to go wrong. “Umm… I wouldn’t be able to attend the dinner on Sunday” I said nervously because I was scared of what his reaction could be, but I just had to say it. We laid on the bed and Logan had his arms around my waist with my back leaning against his chest. I felt his arms tighten around my waist when he heard that. “What do you mean by that?” He asked, his hot breath fanning my cheek. “Unfortunately, I have an important place to be on that day. I just got notified today” I explained calmly, trying to sound as sincere as possible even though I was just making up a lie. “And what is that thing that is so important? Have you forgotten that we made an agreement?” Lo

Chapter 36Logan’s POVI watched as Abigail walked into the bedroom with a bright expression on her face. I could see that she must have enjoyed her outing with her friend, Gigi. She turned to face me upon noticing my gaze on her, “oh. You got back before me today” she said, then proceeded to drop her bag on the dressing table. “I sure did” I replied with a curt nod, not taking my gaze off her. I watched as she unbuckled her sandals and then carefully pulled them off before placing them aside. “How was your outing?” I asked, even though I knew the reply to expect.“It was really good! It felt really nice being able to see Gigi in a place outside the four walls of this villa” she said, “not that you haven’t been generous enough to allow her visit, though” she quickly added. “Hmm,” I said with a nod, “that’s good. So, where did you both go?” “We went to a restaurant in town,” she said, eying me suspiciously.I nodded. I like the fact that she was being so honest. I always know her w

Chapter 35Abigail’s POV“Oh my God. Yes, you must be wondering if we were the only people in the restaurant this very day. The answer to your question is a big NO. My best friend didn’t just care if she drew attention to herself. In fact, she feeds on attention. I wrapped my arms around her gently in contrast to the firm hold she had around me. “I’m excited to see you too, Gigi” I said, giggling at her excitement. She finally released me and stared at me with her huge doe eyes, “I see Mr Logan finally permitted you some freedom from his confinement” she said with a smile on her face. “Yes, he did,” I said with a nod. “Come on!” She nudged me, “Give me details, how did you manage to convince him to grant you this freedom?” She asked, her tone giving off the fact that she was so curious to get an answer. “Well… more l

Chapter 34Helena’s POV My lips instinctively became upturned as I stared at the bundles of new notes in my arms. I wasn’t aware of the total amount yet but I could tell that it would amount to more than a million dollars, which was the agreed fee. I love the feeling that came with having tons of money. It filled me with some sort of joy. “It was nice working with you” I said with a sly smirk as I tucked the money into my black drawstring bag before putting it in my backpack. This was the job I did. This was the job that provided me with my daily income, and never have I regretted getting into it. “Well done. You did well” I was taken aback by that, for Gabe to actually praise me for my effort, it could only mean that I really did well. Far beyond whatever expectations they might have had. I nodded, “thank you,” then he walked away, I stared at his retreating figure till he was eventually out of sight. For some people, it might seem like the job I involved myself in was risky
