Clarissa promised to return again because she wasn't emotionally stable enough to reveal what the blackmail was. Early the next day, she planned to run away because she was scared of being caught in the middle of it all.

She pulled her coat tighter around her, looking nervously over her shoulder as she walked through the busy city streets. The morning rush hour was in full swing, with people hurrying to and fro, oblivious to her presence. She had chosen this time deliberately, hoping to blend in with the crowd and avoid being seen by anyone who might recognize her. Her heart pounded with every step, with the weight of her secrets pressing down on her like a heavy shroud.

She boarded the next cab and off she went. She instructed the driver to stop a few blocks away from her destination. She waited for him to drive off before she continued with her journey. When she arrived, Clarissa scanned the room, until her eyes landed on a man seated at a corner table. He was tall and huge with a r

"Olivia," she began, her voice cracking. "I’m so sorry. I’ve been hiding something from you for so long, and it’s time you knew the truth. I can't continue with this again, Olivia…"Olivia reached across the table and took Clarissa's hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "It’s okay. Just tell me what happened. I

Why didn't I realize that I was going too far to return?” Clarissa asked as she sat on a chair. She paused and took a deep breath, then dialed Olivia’s number. The phone rang several times before Olivia answered.“Hi dear,” she said in a weary voice."Clarissa, what’s going on?" Olivia asked."We need to talk. Can you come over?" Her mind raced with the revelations Olivia had brought to light. Marcus. The name dredged up painful memories she had tried so hard to bury. She wondered what length her sister had gone to get to know who Marcus was before she summoned the courage to meet her.“I thought this wouldn't resurface again,” Nina murmured as she wiped a tear from her eyes. “How will I tackle this? I'm trying to settle down, but everything seems not to work as planned. Must I be the one?”She took a deep breath, walked over to her desk, and pulled out a worn file from the bottom drawer. Inside was a small notebook, its pages were filled with scribbled notes and numbers from years past.Flipping through the pages, Nina’s heart pounded as she found what she was looking for; Marcus’s phone number. She hesitated for a moment as her finger was hovering over the keypa

One thing she knew was that Marcus wouldn't stop until he gets what he wants, but funny enough, she doesn’t have what he wants. Her mind was still fresh from the confrontation with Marcus, the conversation she just had, but she knew she had to focus on protecting her family. As she approached the house, her phone rang, and she saw Henry’s name flash on the screen.Henry? Why? She asked as she swiped the screen.“Hey babe,” she called but Henry's voice overpowered hers.“Nina, Where are you? Please answer quickly. You need to come home immediately,” Henry’s voice was urgent, bordering on panic.“What’s wrong?” Nina asked her as heart rate increased.“I got a message from an unknown number. Nina turned to Henry in anger. “Who asked you to come out? I wanted to handle this in my own way… Henry…”“Nina please stop it!. Henry quickly interrupted. Do you think I'd just stay back and do nothing? Didn't you see the desperation in his eyes?“I saw it, but you shouldn't have shown up. I know Marcus more than you do and I would have handled him in a better way.”“Really? Is that your defense for what you caused us?”Their argument became heated and it attracted the attention of the police that were staying back. The police showed their faces and searched frantically, but it seems Marcus had vanished into the night. Shots fired into the air echoed through the clearing, but he didn’t reappear. Hope you didn't get hurt?"Henry exchanged a look with Nina, silently agreeing that the children should be the ones to tell their story. Every now and then, he would lean in close, his breath hot against her ear as he whispered threats.“You’re so predictable, Nina,” Marcus sneered, pacing back and forth in front of her. “You’re always trying to be the hero, always thinking you can outsmart me. But look where that’s gotten you. Tied up and at my mercy. I thought you’d recognise me when I came, but No!.
