Isabella -

I stared at him, utterly exasperated.

“Logan,” I began, enunciating each syllable carefully, “are you seriously planning on staying here all night?”

He tilted his head, his expression an infuriating mix of amusement and mock innocence. “Are you seriously planning to kick me out in this rain?”

I glanced at the window, where the faint drizzle was barely misting the glass. “Rain? You have a car, Logan. It’s not like I’m asking you to trek through the wilderness.”

He leaned forward, his grin widening. “Ah, but I made a promise, Bella.”

I blinked, caught off guard. “What promise?”

“To be your booty call.” He said it so casually, as if he were offering to bring snacks to a picnic.

I nearly choked on my own indignation. “Excuse me?!”

He chuckled, clearly enjoying my reaction. "I promised to always be there for you, no matter what. And you liked it last time when we..."

I pinched the bridge of my nose, feeling a headache coming on. “Stop reminding me of that night."

He shrugged, co

Isabella -I woke up feeling like I’d been hit by a train. A very attractive, very infuriating train named Logan. My muscles ached in places I didn’t even know I had muscles, and as I sat up, the events of last night came rushing back like an X-rated reel.Logan had been a beast. Four times. Four. Yeah, I had been stupid again! And yet, there he was, casually lounging next to me in bed, looking annoyingly fresh and smug.“Morning,” he said, his voice warm and entirely too cheerful for this hour.I blinked at him, my brain still trying to boot up. “What time is it?”He checked his phone with the nonchalance of someone who hadn’t spent the night breaking records. “A little after nine.”“Damn!” I scrambled out of bed, nearly tripping over the comforter. “I’m late!”“For what?” he asked, his tone laced with amusement.“Work!” I snapped, already searching for my clothes. He chuckled, the sound deep and infuriatingly pleasant. “Relax. It’s Saturday. Besides, your boss—” he pointed at himsel

  • Never meant to be   A Visit to Grandma

Isabella -Logan insisted on driving, which, considering his track record of being annoyingly persistent, wasn’t a surprise. We made small talk on the way, though I was mostly preoccupied, mentally preparing for what lay ahead. Visiting Grandma was always bittersweet, like trying to hug a memory that kept slipping away. The nursing home was quiet as we walked in. Logan carried a small bouquet of flowers he’d insisted on picking up at the last minute. We found Grandma sitting in her favorite armchair near the window, a blanket draped over her lap. She was staring outside at the garden, her expression distant yet peaceful.“Hi, Grandma,” I said softly, kneeling beside her.Her head turned, and for a fleeting moment, I thought she recognized me. But then her expression shifted into one of warm familiarity, and she said, “Amanda! There you are, darling. I was beginning to think you’d forgotten about me.”Amanda—my mother. My chest tightened, but I forced a smile and knelt beside her. “Hi,

  • Never meant to be   The Lesson

Logan - 2012I hit the pavement hard, the sting of asphalt scraping my palms barely registering over the sound of their laughter. My backpack lay a few feet away, its contents spilling out like my dignity.“Pathetic,” Jared sneered, his gang standing behind him like they were the kings of the schoolyard.I didn’t respond. What was the point? Anything I said would just give them more fuel. I got up, brushing the dirt off my jeans, and grabbed my bag. My eye throbbed; my pride was even worse off.As I walked away, their taunts followed me home. By the time I stepped through the front door, the swelling had started. At dinner, Thomas, my cousin who had been visiting, asked.“So, Logan, you gonna tell us what happened?”“I got into a fight,” I said, hoping that would be the end of it.But of course, it wasn’t.“A fight?” Dad scoffed, setting his fork down with a clink. “More like you got your ass kicked. You’re too soft, boy. Weak. You’ll never make it through high school if you keep this

LoganIsabella stood up, brushing imaginary crumbs off her jeans, and slung her bag over her shoulder. “Let’s go home,” she said simply, her tone unreadable.I followed her out of the café, my hands shoved deep into my pockets. The air outside was crisp, the sun starting its slow descent, casting long shadows across the pavement. Neither of us spoke as we walked to the car.The drive to her apartment was quiet. I glanced at her out of the corner of my eye, trying to gauge her mood, but her face was unreadable as she stared out the window, lost in thought. When we finally pulled up to her building, I shifted the car into park and turned to her. She unbuckled her seatbelt and reached for the door handle but paused, looking at me for the first time since we’d left the café.“Thanks,” she said softly, her voice breaking the silence like a pebble dropped into still water. “For today. I appreciated… everything.”Her words caught me off guard. For a moment, I wasn’t sure how to respond. “It

Isabella -I was organizing my notes after the meeting when Logan’s voice cut through the chatter.“Isabella, can I see you in my office?”I glanced up to see him standing at his door. I nodded, grabbing my notebook and following him inside. The moment I stepped in, Derek appeared out of nowhere, his curiosity getting the better of him.“Where are you headed for the signing?” Derek asked, leaning against the doorframe.Logan leaned back in his chair, an amused look on his face. “The founder of Fintech is a bit of a recluse. He lives in a quiet suburb outside New York. I’ll be traveling there next week to finalize the deal.”Derek whistled low. “Sounds... quaint.”Logan chuckled. “Quaint might be an understatement. The man is a bit of an eccentric."After a few more questions, Derek excused himself, leaving the two of us alone. Logan turned his attention back to me, his expression unreadable.“I need you to come with me,” he said, his tone leaving little room for argument.I blinked, c

  • Never meant to be   Reaching the destination

IsabellaThe drive had been long and exhausting. But as soon as we passed between the towering stone pillars flanking the entrance to his estate, the landscape before us silenced my inner monologue. The wrought-iron gate creaked open after Logan punched in a security code, revealing a driveway flanked by trees ablaze with the colors of autumn.Brilliant shades of orange, rust, and gold filled my vision, their vibrancy increased by the clear afternoon light. The crisp autumn air swept in as Logan rolled the window down, scattering a few leaves across the dashboard before they drifted lazily out of the car.I couldn’t stop myself from leaning forward, my eyes wide as I took it all in. “Wow,” I murmured, almost forgetting who I was sitting next to.“It’s... beautiful,” I admitted reluctantly, watching the leaves swirl in the breeze. “You could’ve warned me this place looks like a postcard.”“I prefer to let my estate speak for itself,” he said with mock humility, steering the car up the c

Isabella - “Are you hungry?” Logan asked casually, his eyes flicking toward me as he leaned against the back of the sofa.I hesitated for a moment before replying honestly, “Yeah, I am.”“What do you feel like eating?” he asked, straightening up.I raised an eyebrow, folding my arms. “Wait… Are you cooking?”“Of course,” he said, as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.“Oh no,” I said, shaking my head. “I’ll cook.”He looked almost offended. “Why?”“Because,” I said firmly, standing up, “I’m repaying the favor for inviting me here."I grinned smugly, already making my way toward the kitchen.Logan sighed dramatically as he trailed behind me. “Fine. But just so we’re clear—this is my kitchen. I’m only letting you do this because I’m a gentleman.”“Noted,” I said with a laugh, stepping into the massive kitchen. The space looked even more impressive now that I was about to use it. Isabella -The next morning, I woke up in my room, sunlight streaming through the curtains. For a moment, I lay there, blinking against the light, trying to piece together how I had gotten there. The last thing I remembered was sitting on the couch with Logan, watching TV. Had I fallen asleep? My brows furrowed as the realization dawned.Did Logan carry me here? The idea of him carrying me felt oddly intimate, and I wasn’t sure how to feel about that. Well, I’d have to ask him later. For now, my rumbling stomach had other priorities.I swung my legs over the side of the bed and padded out of the room, following the delicious aroma wafting from the kitchen. As I entered, I found Logan standing by the stove, a spatula in hand, looking infuriatingly good in a plain gray T-shirt and jeans. The scent of fresh bacon and eggs filled the air, making my stomach growl audibly.“Morning,” he said without turning around, clearly aware of my presence. “Sleep well?”I crossed my arms, leaning again

IsabellaThe city lights shimmered below us, casting a golden glow over the balcony. A gentle breeze carried the distant hum of traffic and the scent of fresh roses from the garden below. It was quiet, peaceful—perfect.I leaned against the railing, watching the world move beneath us, when two strong arms wrapped around my waist from behind. Logan’s warmth enveloped me, his chin resting lightly on my shoulder.“You’re staring,” I teased, tilting my head to meet his gaze.“I can’t help it,” he murmured, pressing a soft kiss to the side of my neck. “You’re breathtaking.”A blush crept up my cheeks, but I rolled my eyes playfully. “You say that like you haven’t seen me a thousand times before.”Logan turned me around, his hands framing my face as he studied me with that intense, unwavering focus that always made my heart stutter. “I could see you a million times and still not get enough.”I bit my lip to keep from smiling too wide, but it was useless—he always had this effect on me.“Bes

IsabellaI never expected to see Logan at my home. But there he was, walking down the garden path like he belonged here, like he had every right to show up after everything. The evening air was warm, carrying the scent of roses and freshly cut grass, but I felt frozen in place on the patio. My fingers curled around the edge of the wicker chair, my heart hammering a little too hard against my ribs. His gaze found mine, unwavering. “Hi.”I swallowed. “Hi.”An awkward pause stretched between us before I found my voice again. “How did you find me?”Logan shrugged, shoving his hands into his pockets. “I begged your mother to tell me.”I raised a brow. “She actually told you?”“She made me swear I wouldn’t make things worse.” His lips twitched like he was trying for a smile, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.I exhaled, glancing at the empty chair across from me. “Sit down.”He hesitated only for a second before stepping forward and lowering himself into the seat.“How are you?” he asked,

LoganParis was screaming. Not the kind of dramatic, crocodile-tear crying she used to do when we were together. No, this was full-blown, red-faced, glass-shattering rage. And honestly? I didn’t give a damn.“You ruined me, Logan!” she shrieked, pacing back and forth in my office like a caged animal.“Do you have any idea how many deals I’ve lost because of your stupid lawsuit?”I leaned back in my chair, completely unfazed. “I don’t know, Paris. Maybe as many as Isabella lost when you spread lies about her?”Her jaw clenched. “Oh, don’t give me that moral high ground bullshit. You never cared about her reputation before.”My eyes darkened. “That’s where you’re wrong.”I had let too many things slide in the past. Let Paris manipulate me, let her get away with her games, let her tear people down just because she could. But not this time. Not when it came to Isabella.Paris scoffed, arms crossing. “Do you really think I’m going to let you do this to me? I’ll fight you in court, Logan. I

  • Never meant to be   Some life lessons

Isabella -After a long moment, we finally pulled apart. My mother wiped her eyes quickly, as if embarrassed by her own vulnerability. I let out a shaky breath, still trying to process everything, when she suddenly said, “I’m divorcing Robert.”I blinked. “Wait… what?”She sighed, rubbing her temples. “It was never a real marriage, Isabella. It was always an agreement.” She looked at me, her expression softer now. “And I don’t want to stand in the way of you and Logan.”I stared at her, completely caught off guard. “You don’t have to do that. I mean… I know things between you and Robert were never perfect, but still—”She let out a laugh, shaking her head. “Sweetheart, this isn’t a sacrifice. Trust me, it’s the opposite. I want this.”I frowned. “But why now?”She smiled. “I want to spend some time with myself, maybe even figure out who I am outside of all this. And I want to take care of your grandmother. She’s not getting any younger, and after everything, I think she deserves to ha

  • Never meant to be   Forgivness

IsabellaI felt a lump rise in my throat, but I didn’t interrupt. I needed to hear this, no matter how painful it was.“We fought all the time,” she continued, her voice growing harder. “He would yell, and I would yell back. He accused me of trapping him, of ruining his life. And I… I hated him for it. I hated him for making me feel like I was nothing, like I was a burden. But I stayed because I didn’t know what else to do. I had you, and I thought… I thought I could make it work.”She stopped again, her hands trembling as she wiped at her eyes. “And then he died. It was a car accident—drunk driving. Everyone thought it was so tragic. They pitied me, the young widow with a baby. They called us the perfect couple, the high school sweethearts who never got their happy ending. But they didn’t know the truth. They didn’t know how much I hated him, how much I resented him for everything he put me through.”Her words hit me like a punch to the gut, and I took a step back, struggling to proc

  • Never meant to be   A name unspoken

IsabellaI froze, my breath catching in my throat. My mother, too, seemed startled. She leaned forward, her perfectly manicured hands clasped tightly in her lap. “Yes, Mom,” she said, her voice softer than I’d ever heard it. “I’m here.”My grandmother’s eyes searched her face, as if trying to place her in a world that had long since slipped away. “Where’s Matthew?” she asked, her tone almost childlike in its innocence. “Is he coming?”My mother’s expression faltered, just for a second, before she smoothed it over with a practiced smile. “He’s away for work,” she said gently. “But he’ll be back soon.”My grandmother nodded, seemingly satisfied, and closed her eyes again, her grip on my hand loosening as she drifted back into sleep. I stared at my mother, my mind racing. Matthew? Who was Matthew? My grandmother had said it with such familiarity, as if it were a name she had spoken a thousand times. The silence in the room was heavy, broken only by the sound of my grandmother’s steady bre

  • Never meant to be   The House of Memories

Isabella -The gravel crunched beneath my feet as I walked up the familiar path to my grandparents’ house. The air smelled of pine and damp earth, a comforting scent that carried me back to summers spent running through the fields, carefree and untouched by the weight of the world. But now, the house stood as a quiet sentinel, its white paint chipped and its shutters slightly askew, as if it too had aged alongside me. I paused at the front steps, my hand resting on the weathered railing, and took a deep breath. This was my refuge now, the only place where I could escape the chaos that had become my life. The key turned with a soft click, and I pushed the door open, stepping into the dimly lit foyer. Dust motes danced in the slivers of sunlight that filtered through the curtains, and the air was thick with the scent of old wood and forgotten memories. I dropped my bag by the door and let my fingers trail along the wall as I walked further inside. The house was exactly as I remembered i

My father’s expression darkened so fast, I thought he might actually explode. My mom, however, looked downright delighted. “Oh, this just keeps getting better,” she mused, looking between them with the kind of joy only found in well-aged revenge.Dad, jaw clenched, exhaled through his nose before muttering, “Logan, this is not the time—”“Oh, I think it is,” I cut in. “You’re really going to sit there and act like you have the moral high ground? After everything?”Dad stood, his eyes locked onto mine, but before he could unleash whatever dramatic speech he had prepared, Mom clapped her hands together again. “Alright, that’s enough of that. Robert, listen to me, and listen well. I do not have the energy to deal with your nonsense. Approve this relationship. Let my son be happy.”Dad didn’t budge. Amanda, who still looked like she regr

  • Never meant to be   Buried Secrets

Logan’s POVI skimmed through the annual report. Sinclair Industries was vast—far more than just the gaming division I managed. My father oversaw several subsidiaries, and while I generally stayed out of his affairs, I made it a point to review the financials at the end of each fiscal year. But something wasn’t adding up.I frowned as I examined the numbers for one of our European acquisitions. A massive loan—hundreds of millions—was taken from a French bank. I hadn’t been informed of this, and given the sheer size of the investment, I should have been.“What the hell is this?” I muttered, flipping through the pages.Derek, who was standing by the window, turned toward me. “Figured you’d notice that.”I shot him a sharp look. “You knew about this?”He shrugged. “Not all the details. Just that your father took a sizeable loan to buy that European company. It’s been under wraps, probably because he didn’t want questions.”I exhaled slowly, my mind running through the implications.
