I decided to give him a call to book me a nice place to rest my head for the night.

Picking up my phone, I realized it was off, which was unusual. I turned it on, only to receive numerous voicemail messages and redirected calls.

ID: Olivia…

I gasped, feeling unease as I played the voice messages.

My heart clung to a tiny strand of hope that it wasn't over yet. I just couldn't stand losing her now; just as I couldn't stand the thought of Nina trying to ruin my image, and now, my mom's threat.

Everything lingered in my heart as I finally gathered the strength to make the call.

It was still early when I arrived in New York, driving through the quiet hours of the morning so I could meet my schedule.

First, I had to visit her.

I arrived at her building exactly at seven a.m. I knew they were still preparing for work and school. That was the perfect time to come over.

Taking a deep breath, I stretched out my muscles, they felt sore from the long drive and the previous day's e

I arrived at my mansion a few minutes later after countless attempts to reach her, all of which proved futile. Just as I was entering the compound, I spotted her standing at the entrance of my apartment. My rage surged. She was about to turn and leave but stopped in her tracks, her eyes glistening with a smile as she awaited my arrival. I stepped out of the car and closed the door behind me, moving toward her with determined, angry strides. “I checked for you in your office, but…” “How dare you?” I barked, cutting her off mid-sentence. She startled at my outburst but quickly regained her composure. Leaning in, her half-slipped dress, torn up her thigh, brushed against my midsection. “Step aside,” I roared, pushing her away. She staggered backward slightly, her face turning pale red. “Who gave you the guts to blackmail me and post all that to the media? Ahh!” I retorted, my voice raised, raw and guttural. “I never did any of those,” she replied, her gaze turning teary, her ton

Becky discreetly dropped the files she was holding before anyone noticed. She crouched low instantly. "Ma'am, I was about to place the files in your car as you instructed when I bumped into him. He was so lost in thought that he forgot where he was going," she said, her voice dripping with sympathy. I stared at her theatrics in disbelief. "But I never instructed you to place the files in my car. I told you to take them to my office," Olivia said, her tone sharp. Becky raised her head. "Ma’am…" My heart raced. My legs trembled slightly. Had she heard our conversation? “Ma’am, I’m so sorry! I thought you had instructed me to drop them in your car,” she exclaimed, hurriedly packing the files and storming back inside. Olivia turned and watched her leave, her unstable movement slightly unreadable at the moment. “Olivia, I came to meet….” “I don’t need any apologies. I have a lot to sort out today at work. Don’t you have something to do in your office? Or,” she raised an eyebro

Olivia's POV EarlierAfter my encounter with James, My heart suddenly tensed.I felt as though I had been too rude; or rather, too harsh, to him.“Ma’am, the files you asked me to drop in your office,” Becky chimed, following after me as I unlocked the door and stormed back inside. She placed the files on the desk and attempted to leave, but I stopped her in her tracks.“Becky!” I called out.“Yes, ma’am,” she replied, turning to meet my gaze.“Why have you been so distracted and absentminded lately?” I asked, feeling the urge to hear her out.It was unlike her to act this way.She lowered her head, silence creeping in, except for the sudden sound of an outburst.“Is something wrong? Talk to me,” I urged, sensing her unease.“It’s personal, ma’am,” she replied, tears slipping from her eyes. At that moment, I felt compelled to move closer to where she stood.Placing my hands on her shoulders, I reassured her. “You know you can always lean on me, right? I’m not just your boss; I’m also

Her lips curled into a smile. Her brown skin, radiant and glistering.I blinked, rolling over in bed, wrapping my hands over my head.“Ahh!” I groaned in agony. The throbbing pain in my head consumed me.Memories of her beauty kept flooding my thoughts. That distinct smile, perfectly curved.“Dad, I'm off to school,” I heard her tiny voice, snapping me out of my daze.I groaned, holding onto my head as I blinked my eyes open. The picture catalog I had been looking at before drifting off to sleep fell to the floor.“Let me help you with that, Daddy,” Joanna chimed, moving to the side of the bed to pick them up.She lifted her face with a smile. That smile; it reminded me of the fragments I had seen in my visions.A perfect replica.“Dad,” she tapped me, pulling my gaze toward her.“Oh, I'm sorry. Shortly after, the door creaked open, and I turned my gaze toward it.“Mum!” I called out as she walked in, carrying a little bag that looked weighty.“What are those?” I asked as she dragged them in.She dropped them just by the passageway and turned to take her seat.“Son, how are you doing?”“Great,” I replied, my gaze flickering to the bag by the passageway.“Oh, that's just some fruits and veggies I picked up from the grocery store on my way here. I figured they would help you regain your strength speedily,” she replied, wrapping her hands around the armrest.“That’s thoughtful of you, Mum. Thank you,” I muttered.“But next time, give me a call so I can send Peter to assist you, alright?” I added, but she threw me a brief glance before scanning the room.“How's your wife? Is she in?” she inquired, and I nodded.“Yes, Mum. She just went up to the room to drop off the bag of medicine the doctor brought today,” I replied.“About that, any improvement so far?” she asked, her gaze fix

I didn’t need anyone to tell me that the overwhelming urge to return that call was growing.
