“Sienna!”I kneel on the floor and cradle Malachi’s mother’s head in my laps. I tap her face lightly and i ask tentatively, “Sienna? Sienna, are you okay?”She’s alive, I can see her chest rising and falling. Now i just need to know if she can see and know enough not to think i tried to kill her.Malachi’s mother begins to cry.I can’t tell if the tears are fake or genuine, i just know she begins to cry, so i do the only thing i can think of doing in situations like this, i begin to console her, “Shh, it’s okay, Sienna. It’s okay. You didn’t die. You’re still alive.”Almost like my words touch some feral nerve in her, the cries intensify and i hear what she’s saying in between those blubbering tears, “You just tried to kill me, Antonia.I… I know you hate me, but is it enough to want to kill me?”I notice Ian’s presence a few paces away, and i can’t help the glare i shoot him. Sienna is crying again and repeating the same accusation that i tried to kill herI want to pull at my hair,
Seeing the white walls of the hospital reminds me of the night my grandmother died and a bitter taste finds itself to the back of my throat. I swallow it down and look at the bright side. At least it’s not the same hospital my grandma died in.I go to the counter, “Hi, good day. I’m here to see Sienna Finn. She was brought in by an ambulance a while ago.” The nurse points in the direction of the hallway to my right, not uttering a word. I go down with a grimace and take a deep breath before i enter the room. The emergency med doctor is in the room, the male one, and with him is…. Malachi’s father, Sienna’s husband.I groan silently and approach the table cautiously. I haven’t had too much interactions with Malachi’s father, but for him to be here it means Sienna was conscious enough to give the hospital his number. If she could do that, then it means she’s fine right?“Ah. This is the lady we met at the mansion. She called the ambulance.”Malachi’s father responds to the male doctor,
Malachi’s father takes me down into one of the wards in the hospital and all I can do is follow silently. Bridget’s words keep ringing in my mind, and I make my decision. If I stay here all Malachi is going to do is blame me. Skye will be certain to fan the flames and Sienna won’t say anything to stop that. I’m not going to be waiting around for that. Tonight is the only night I can get the Moon’s Tears fabric back and I can’t miss that. The resolve forms in my stomach and makes my lip harden. My spine straightens. I stop walking and speak calmly, “Mr Finn. I won’t be here when Malachi comes back. There’s nothing you can say to stop me.”Malachi’s father stops, and we are the only two people in this hallway… I realize that he could easily throw me into one of the rooms and lock me in there. A flight response begins to seep into my bones as Malachi’s father turns back. I kill the flinch I almost release at the last second. I’m being silly. Malachi’s father would never hurt me.“I mess
My head gives a little spin and I reach out for a wall instinctively, fighting the lightheadedness that creeps up on me. I refuse to look weak in front of Malachi’s father. He has a newborn now, so what? It’s not my problem. It’s no use for me to start feeling dizzy about it. I could walk away from here and forget this ever happened. He can sort himself and his new family out. Almost like he can hear my thoughts Malachi’s father begins to beg, “Antonia, please.I’ve never asked anything of you, but I need you to help me with this. Please, Antonia.”I can hear the desperation in his voice and I can see the pleading in his eyes. I’ve never seen Malachi’s father in this light. He’s always been mellow and uninterested in most things. Sienna is the more vocal one and he backs her up on everything. Malachi trusts his mother’s word more than his father’s and I've always assumed he was happy with that laidback uninvolved life. But right now, that laidback and uninvolved man has just revealed t

Ian jumps in his seat as I get into the car. I slam the door like a demon and the devil are chasing me. His eyes meet mine and I see them taking in every panic-filled detail they can, before he sees too much or Malachi decides to come after me, I give one order, “Drive.”Ian hits the accelerator like he’s been waiting to do it for a while now and the car moves into the smoothest jerk of speed I have ever experienced a car move in. Ian is chuckling in his seat even as we zoom down the road and he turns back with a beaming smile on his face, “Did you feel that smoothness?”My response is a nervous chuckle. Oh, I felt it alright. I just don’t care much about it. I already have a feeling asking about will get me the kind of answer I hear the owners of very expensive cars giving. That it has a transmission engine of something, something, and a this of that. No, what I need right now is to be as fast as I can. I speak briskly, “I need you to take me to the Starlight hall. Do you know where
Bridget’s pov.“I’ll never tell you where she’s going.”My face still hurts from the force of the slap I received, but I know that face wears a fierce look on it too and I'm proud. It’s time someone stood up to this man-sized bully, and if that person has to be me then so be it.Malachi Finn’s voice sends a chill down my back when he speaks, “I wasn’t joking when I said I could break you.”Malachi speaks like he’s bored and irritated, and though his back is turned to me right now, I'm sure his face says it too. He’s occupied with something on his phone, his attention not even turned towards the mother he threatened Antonia for because he knows his mother is okay. Antonia just has to be made a scapegoat to appease her vanity.Anger curls up in me.For years I watched this idiot treat his wife like she was a lesser creature than him. For years, I had to watch Antonia pine for the love of a man she knew wouldn’t love her back in return. For years, I saw this pompous cart-sized asshole wal
Malachi’s pov.I’m starting to get really annoyed by all of this.Tieran’s presence here is like an itch. A very irritating itch, but the more irritating thing is that i know why he’s here. He’s not here for Antonia’s annoying friend. He’s here because Antonia has asked him to be here.“I’ll hand her right back when she tells me where Antonia is.”If she wasn’t being so damn stubborn we’d have been out of here by now. My uncle Tieran’s response adds to my annoyance, “We have a date, Malachi. We have to get to it sometime soon so i need her back.”A chuckle leaves my lips and i give Bridget a sardonic look as i speak, “Can you tell him his plan is a lousy one? If he’s planning to take you out of here under the guise of being in a relationship with you,” I give her a look that says she’s plain. She cleans up well in the nice clothes and makeup, but i’ve seen her annoying face around my wife too much to think she’s anything but annying and plain. And most importantly, she’s not Tieran’s
