I felt ashamed every time I looked at Xin. After leaving the house secretly, he still showed up to save me.

I pursed my lips and looked at him again. “Um, I am sorry.”

“It is fine, Bella. You don't have to apologize about anything,” he said, cutting me short. And I looked at him in confusion.

Wasn't he supposed to be mad at me? Why did he behave like I had done nothing wrong?

“Aren't you mad at me?“ I asked again. The whole thing was making me so uneasy. I would be fine if he was mad at me or if he said some hurtful words to me.

Xin pursed his lips and looked at me. “If I hadn't come, would you have left with him?“ He asked.

And I quickly shook my head at him. “No, I was going to fight,” I explained. I would never have allowed Eze to take me away with him. I wouldn't leave my son behind.

A small smile appeared at the corner of Xin's lips. “I am not mad at you,” he said.

I inhaled deeply. “Really?“ I asked. I hoped that he wasn't planning something.

Xin nodded his head. “Yes, Bella.
