We were completely ambushed, and the number of rogues were overwhelming for just the three of us.
The hardest and probably most odd part about that day was that none of us were able to shift. At all. I could hear Seles in my mind, roaring at me to let her out, but I couldn't. Because of that, we were alloverwhelmed easily. Rogues surrounded us, and gravely injured the Alpha first, before immobilizingme and attacking the Luna.I still remember her seream as one of them ripped her throat out.I shiver and turn the water in the shower as hot as I can bear, searing my skin slightly as I feel tears prick my eyes. I clasp my arms around myself, still haunted by the state of their bodies after the rogues had stopped attacking. They left me alive, but barely. I had gashes and claw marks all over me, plus a large chunk of my leg was torn away and a badly broken arm. I was healing slowly, as werewolves do, but it wasn't enough. We were found about an hour later, with me hysterical and trying to claw my way over to the Luna.I was talken to the infirmary to heal, and I reported what had happened to the Beta, and mike, who was devastated and demanded answers from me. I told him I was sorry, that we couldn't shift, but he didn't believe me at all.It took a few weeks for me to heal completely, and as soon as I was able I went to where they has buried the Alpha and Luna. I was there for only afew short moments before being dragged off to mike, now Alpha, and his Beta where I was questioned again, and finally accused with failingmy job. As punishment, my wrists were to be bound with silver cuffs, my title and everythingrevoked. Now I'm merely a member of the pack, shunned because I allowed the Alpha and Luna to die.Can I even be considered a werewolf anymore if I can't feel her?The stage is painted black and has some monitors and other sound equipment placed around. There are two bars located side-by-side on the far-right wall, with the kitchen behind them, a door between the bars giving access to that area. The bars are black as well, but with some sort of marble top on them. There is also a seating area that is located at thevery back of the room, with assorted chairs andtables scattered about. The main attraction of theIron Wolf is the upstairs area though. I sigh as I glance up and see the railings lining the balcony and the lights hitting the ceiling.Everyone kills to get up there. Unfortunately, it'sfor higher ranking wolves due to the hierarchybullshit that distinguishes everyone. The only wayto get to the top area is by the stairs near the stage, but there's usually a bouncer or guard there as well.I've only been up there onlya handful of timessince I have a good relationship with Kai. Fromwhat I remember, there's pretty much a wholeother bar up there with everything that is downhere, except nicer. The wolves up there can lookdown to whatever is happening downstairs fromthe railings, without having to mingle with anyonethey don't want to.I smile as I see Kai over by the stage. We're herebefore opening because... well I'm performing heretonight. You heard me. Pretty much exiled female wolf isperforming at the biggest wolf bar in town.I used to perform here many times before mystatus was removed, and honestly, no one here hasever made a problem of it since then. They come tohear me sing, and they don't judge. The Iron Wolf hear me sing, and they don't judge. The Iron Wolf has become a second home to me, but I've been spending less and less time here because Mikedecides to take away my opportunities to comesince he knows I love it so much.He can't stop me from coming completely, becauseKai requests me often and I get paid, so on nightslike tonight, Mike's hand is pretty much forced to let me go out. He thinks he has total control, but hereally doesn't. Another win for me.Kai waves as we approach him. "Lynette, Nadia!Glad to see you both here." He looks to me, hisdark shoulder length brown hair swishing with hishead movement as his grey eyes lock with mine."You ready for tonight?"I nod. "More than ready. I'm happy to be here.""Good, cause there's a special guest here tonight."I tilt my head in confusion. "Who?""Nathaniel Stone, the soon to be Alpha King."Myjaw drops in my mind and I know my eyes arewide like saucers. He’s here?!?Nadia's POV"Nadia, you okay?" Lynette asks me as we sit at ourkitchen table with Gabby. The smell of breakfast isamazing, but I just can't seem to find an appetite. Ipush my food around on my plate before lookingup at her."Yeah, just had a shit sleep is all.""You should eat." She says, concerned andI can'tblame her. I should eat to keep up my strength, considering I don't know what I will be asked to do,or subjected to. Every day here at Pure Moon ishighly unpredictable for me. Ever since I wasstripped of everything and deemed responsible forthe Alpha and Luna's deaths, the pack hasn't takento lightly to the fact that I wasn't sentenced todeath, and they have no fear in showing me exactlyhow they feel. Same with Mike.Honestly, it's a question I ask myself every day.Why didn't Mike send me to the High Reign Counciland have me charged with their deaths? Then hewouldn't have to deal with me being aroundanymore. It's not like I could walk up to him andquestion him, though. He's ordered me to neverlook him in the eye. You usually don't ever look an Alpha in the eye unless you're asked, but it's much more of a risk for me. I'm considered dirt, and Mike doesn't hesitate to put me in my place. He's beaten me for just even glancing his way before. If there is one thing that I've learned over these past six years, it's to pick my battles. I fought back against Mike and his treatment and punishment of me for the firstcouple years, and after multiple beatings and noone to help me aside from Gabby and Lynette, I'vebacked off. I've learned to put on an act. I'm notsome weak girl by any means, but if I show anysigns that I am not following orders it's bound toend up badly for me. I just hope that maybe one day I can be free of this and live the life I should be living. I sigh and shove the food into my mouth, not reallytasting it, but hoping that it gets me through atleast the morning, I take
With my eyes still lowered, I respond. "BetaAlarik. ""There you are. Alpha is at the new buildingwaiting for you. Come.""Yes, Beta." I respond robotically and I see Alarik'sshoes as he gets closer to me. He grips my chin roughly and brings my face up. I avert my eyes asI'm still not supposed to look at him."Not going to cause trouble today, are you?" He questions as he holds my chin with such force, I feel tinges of pain where his fingers are."No, Beta.""Good." He releases me and turns and starts towalk.I rub my chin to relieve the soreness I'm now experiencing on my face and follow behind Alarik, cursing at him in my mind as we go.Just breathe.Nadia's POVThe dread I feel increases the closer I get to thenew building. Not because of what I might be askedto do, but because I have to face Mike and put onmy "act". As Alarik and I approach the building, Ican't help but think that it looks decent. Mike putplans forward for this building less than a year ago,and the fact
It's been well over three hours, and I've managed toget two floors done completely, and then I decidedI should get the room for the Alpha prince ready sothat it's not left until last minute. As I walk in and start to dust and make the bed, I think about the prince. I don't know much about him, aside from that I met him before I ended up in my current predicament at a pack party. I doubt he'dremember me, but everyone knows him now. He'sknown as the "heartless prince."Packs fear when he becomes King, unsure if he willlead us to prosperity or ruin. I can't help but thinkthat he knows what he's doing if his parents arewilling to step down to allow him to rule wellbefore their time is up. Usually, the prince wouldhave to challenge the reigning King for the title, butKing Oryn seems to have the upmost faith in hisson's abilities. It's been said that the Alpha KingOryn and Luna Queen Daciana are stepping downto become the Northern Reigns on the council sothat their son wouldn'
I walk up to her and all the nerves fade as I touchthe beautifully crafted dress. "It's probablyexpensive! No way I could afford it, but it's sogorgeous."I’ll cover half for you. Go try it on." I look at herwith wide eyes. "What?""You heard me. You need a dress that suits the ball. You're getting it. No questions. Go try it on!"She shoves the dress into my arms and pointstowards the dressing rooms. I gawk at her for amoment, still trying to process that she's helpingme pay for it. Suddenly, she pushes me towards thechanging rooms."Go! See if it needs any adjustments.""Okay, okay!" I exclaim and close the door to thechanging room. I quickly undress and step into the gown, pulling the sleeves Over my arms, and doing up the small zipper by my lower back. I shiver andI feel that my back is fully exposed. I glance at myself in the mirror in the dressing room and I smile. I really do like it. I step out again and Lynette’s eyes go wide."What?" I ask as she comes up to me and
"There's two other bands playing in addition to you tonight, I'm sure you recognize them?" I look at the paper in my hand and scan the names and I smile. "Yeah, of course!"Kai walks past me to grab a box of cables. "One ofthem wanted me to ask you if you would help themwith a couple songs, I'm pretty sure it's ones you'vedone for them before, but you can always chat withthem later about that. You ready for soundchecknow?" I nod."Guess that's my cue!" Lynette says and she hugsme and heads backstage with her bag. Kai handsme the microphone that he just finished setting upand I step on the stage, feeling that oh so familiarsense of belonging. After soundcheck, I head backstage to findLynette and to talk to Ciara, the lead singer ofone of the other bands playing tonight. As soon as Ienter the space, I see them both near the back leftof the room on the couches, laughing hysterically.Ciara sees me first, and it warms me to see thehuge smile that forms on her face as she ris
I nod at him and look back to the red-haired beauty as she takes her position on the left side of the stage and the band gets into their song. Theanticipation kills me as the song plays through, thinking that I might not hear her voice, but then itfinally graces my ears and holy fuck. It shakes meto my core, andI know then. She must be my mate. There's no denying it. Something simple as hearingher sing wouldn't affect me this intensely if shewasn't.I watch her as she perfectly blends in with the bandas she sings, clearly comfortable and enjoyingherself, her voice powerfully mesmerizing. Thecrowd is completely enamoured with the performance, moving in time with the music andcheering them on loudly. Soon the song is over, andI turn to Tobias and his eyes are wide."Wow, that was...""Perfection. I'm dying to hear what she sounds likeon her own later.""I don't blame you, I feel the same way, Alpha. I’ll go talk to Kai." I nod in agreement and watch himas he heads downstair
Nadia's POVIt's nearing 2am and I finished my solo set aboutan hour ago, and Alpha Nate's eyes never left thestage. I'd glance up at him every now and again, and he was still watching me intently.Did I make that good of an impression?I thought it was the most odd, short conversationof my life, but I was really flattered to have himlook into hiring me for the mating ball. It would bea nerve-wracking performance but I'm totally for it."Earth to Nadia!" I turn my head and catch eyes withLynette.I shrug. "Sorry, what's up?""Gabby is here to take us home. You good?" I thinkfor a moment, and wonderif Nate is still upstairs. It's weird but I feel drawn to him, I need to see himbefore I leave. My mouth is ahead of my mind as Iblurt out a huge lie. "Just a couple minutes, I thinkI forgot something upstairs earlier. You go and waitout front. I'll be out soon. Promise." Evie nods atme and says a quick goodbye to Kai, who turns andpulls my hand out and places money in my palm. I
Nathaniel's POVI can't help but sigh loudly as I enter my bedroom, having just gotten back from the Iron Wolfmoments ago. My mind is stuck on how Nadia hadsaid she didn't hear the rogue wolves in the forest. She has a wolf does she not?I didn't smell anythingoff about her, but it's very odd that she wouldn't beable to sense any danger near her. The fact that shefroze up with the mere mnention of a rogue wolf, makes me concerned as to what could havehappened to her to make her that afraid. Most she-wolves can hold their ground well enough. You must protect her..Ignoring Kiba, I walk into my bathroom and turnthe shower on as hot as I can handle, beforeundressing and stepping inside. As I start to washup from the day, my mind then drifts back tofeeling her hands splayed over my chest, and herreactions to me backed against that wall. It felt soright having her touch me, and the calmness I feltfrom her being close was unexplainable. Theyalways say that your mate is your oth
