KELANI POV

I had been walking for close to an hour, but I doubted it. Walking for an hour and without getting to where Vesper was currently could only mean the mission had failed.

Also, the unavailability of a wristwatch made it even worse to tell what the time was. The sky gave no hint either.

It was cloudless, decorated with bright stars, and the moon was at its peak.

My teeth rattled involuntarily as the cold wind swept across the narrow area. Goosebumps rose on my skin, and I caressed my arms, but that didn't make them go away.

It wasn't entirely because of the chilly air; something was amiss. The same feeling I got before from being watched, and even when the black envelope was sent to me, I could feel it once again.

Breathing out, I gazed around, careful not to touch the walls of the maze as was instructed.

The hair at the nape of my neck tingled, and my palms turned clammy.

I was frightened; that was very much obvious. Yet, I was curious and wanted to see who it was.
