Xenra
This is insane!
How can this be happening to me? I begged her to let me be reborn to take my revenge.
Shouldn't she have gotten the hint that I wanted to be reborn as a vampire Queen, not whatever the hell this was?
Apparently, the woman thought this was funny. She made a cruel joke out of my situation!
Releasing a sigh, I accepted my fate based on compulsion. I asked for a second chance at life and I got one. The best thing to do was utilize it.
Returning my gaze to the mirror, a set of scarlet orbs stared back at me. Although strange, it was somehow relieving she let me retain my terrifying eye colour.
It would traumatize me if I wind up with those random blue eyes. Squishing the chubby cheeks for mental approval, a grin broke out of my face.
It felt so warm. So alive.
I touched my chest and just as I suspected, I heard the gentle beats of the human heart. Unlike my cold, silent, heart.
“What can I say? Thank you, Moon Goddess,” I winked charmingly, secretly hoping my good spirits would soften her heart toward making this condition a little more temporary.
Stepping out of the bathroom, slightly comfortable with my ‘fat’ reality, my eyes dropped on the corpse sprawled on the floor. My nose scrunched in disgust but I needed more information about this place.
Squatting to his level, I touched his temple, praying inwardly that being stuck in this body wasn't paramount to losing my abilities. Luckily, the Moon Goddess knew the boundaries of a joke, no matter how cruel it was.
The corpse vibrated under my touch but instead of relief, it brought me agony. For decades, I had been wrapped in the arms of a man I thought I loved, let him cling to me like a love-stricken puppy, yet somehow I didn't notice his ulterior motives.
The thought infuriated me. There were countless opportunities to see through him, read into his ambition but I was too blinded by love to notice. All I wanted was to lie in bed with him and chat away like a fool. Look where that got me!
I keyed into every little detail, no matter how meaningless, except the very one that mattered. My lover’s ambition.
I shook my head, pushing the regrets aside to focus on the man before me.
My expression went blank, giving space for the disgust to settle.
All the while, I was cosy in my little dark world; species were advancing. Mutating? Because what the hell is this madness?
Are wolves blood-crazed as we vampires that they seek to suck blood now?
That wasn't the most surprising of it all. This fat girl who looked absolutely harmless and vulnerable in the mirror was not exempted from this madness.
From the flow of thoughts from the corpse, I discovered the body I was currently occupying was that of an omega. Not just any omega but one bound in the shackles of blood slavery.
What was I supposed to do with the body of an unfortunate blood slave? With each information I got from the dead man, it seemed like my new body would cause me more trouble.
I was barely able to collect my thoughts when the door suddenly opened and a woman entered the room. From her apparel, I could tell she was some sort of maid. Her face paled out the minute she saw the corpse.
I raised a brow at her trembling figure. Why is she acting like it's her first time seeing a corpse?
Her breathing grew heavy as pointed shakily at me, the horror on her face escalating with each passing second.
"You... you... killed Alpha Kent!”
My head tilted slightly as a bored expression played on my face. I knew exactly what I had done. I didn't need her to point it out. Granted, I didn't the haggard-looking thing was an Alpha.
“You… won't get away with this! I will inform the pack… you will pay… you can't…”
My eyes narrowed coldly at her.
“Keep talking, and your head will be lying beside your weak, spineless Alpha!” I snapped.
Her eyes widened but then I heard heavy footsteps stomping into the place. It was obvious the woman had already declared her despair over their mind link or whatever means of communication they used now.
Now was no time to fight. Perhaps as Vampire Queen, I could have easily taken them down but in the body of a lowly blood slave? It was better not to take risks.
I dashed for the window, climbing on it without hesitation. Grabbing the frame with one hand, I exhaled and jumped, descending into the pit of darkness.
As I ran through the blanket of darkness, I heard her screams, echoing in the night. I cussed inwardly as I ran. The silly woman was going to wake everyone up.
I barely made it far when I heard the gnashing of teeth and howls. Wolves were chasing me!
Goddess, I hope you're having a good life cause this might be the last time I'll ever entertain you.
With the headstart, I managed to outrun, fleeing north. I had to get home. The whole point of this was to kill that traitor and reclaim my throne but this body got easily worn out.
With each minute I stopped to rest, I could hear the snapping of branches and howls getting closer, pushing me to continue the run. The exhaustion I hadn't felt for almost a century descended heavily on me.
These men were relentless, I gave it to them. They must have been so loyal to their Alpha that they didn't mind chasing the murderer for days.
I thought about facing them squarely and commanding their obedience. For decades, I have studied the norms and practices of the wolves. If a wolf killed their Alpha, it automatically made them Alpha, right?
But the thought sounded like a mere fallacy in the face of my discovery of blood slavery. If they were now sucking blood, there was a possibility that the whole kill the Alpha thing had evolved.
Catching my breath, I suddenly realized the reason for my exhaustion. I was human, running from wolves when I could have easily transformed.
“Okay, how does this work again?” I mumbled, pacing back and forth. “Hey, Wolfie, if you're in there, can you maybe say hi?”
No response.
Okay, let's try this again. Focus, Reach for the inner energy. Free your mind.
I shut my eyes and relaxed. Shutting out everything, I tried to reach for whatever was within me but I felt nothing.
“Great!” I hissed.
Maybe there was something I was missing. Force.
I got under the moonlight and tried to force whatever was hidden within me to come out, but once again, my efforts were futile.
The situation was frustrating. Was I going to like my second life with so much misfortune?
Not only was I a lowly blood slave, but a wolfless omega!
I was going to rant to the moon goddess when a twig snapped behind me. Afraid that the wolves caught me, I dashed further into the forest, occasionally glancing back.
For a moment, it seemed like I was able to shake them up, but just when I stopped to catch my breath, I misstepped, and something clawed my feet.
I tried to reach for it but I was suddenly pulled up, dangling upside down in the air.
“Another Omega! Goddess be praised!” A gruff masculine voice exclaimed, emerging from the trees with a large group.
Damn it! Bloody slavers!
Goddess three, Xenra zero.
XenraI rubbed my feet against each other, struggling to get the stupid chains off but it seemed I was only entertaining the crowd. I tried reaching for it but it only wore me out. Sweating in between ragged breaths, I gave up trying. My body was weak and begging for relief. So I hung there, helplessly as my captors approached me with grinning faces. The greed in their eyes warned me that I had a lot coming my way if they successfully captured me. “Quite lively for an omega, aren't you?” One of the slavers snorted, reaching for my face. My expression went stoic as my eyes darkened ruthlessly. I tilted my head, sinking my teeth into his hands before fisting him in the balls and shoving him. He hit the ground, groaning in pain as the others burst into laughter. "Quite a feisty one I must admit. She has a fire and quite a temper. This might just be our best one yet,” another chuckled, stepping from behind. I tried to spin around. Give him a piece of my mind but something pierced i
XenraIt seemed like the effect of the drug was fading so I was awfully aware of everything going on around me. In detail this time. Asher's once shimmering grey eyes were ice cold now, sweeping through each slaver with an intensity that made them shiver. It seemed most of them recognized him. This ruthless werewolf leader made even the mighty crumble before him. Whether it was the powerful aura he exuded or the strength built in those muscles, whichever it was it compelled a submission that required more than willpower to resist.Considering how many times he had me begging, squirming in his bed.I couldn't help but wonder if he still hated me now. Our relationship didn't exactly end on good terms. Did he still think of me?The slavers began to slowly retreat in panic. They knew what this man was capable of and how many packs he reduced to dust. “We don't mean trouble, Alpha. We are only chasing a runaway slave,” as if to back their claim, they raised my hand to reveal that slave
XenraOn hearing the words, the slavers seemed to have gone through five rounds of death. The wolves continued to enclose them, flashing their fangs and threatening movements, further intensifying their fear. In less than a second, they pounced and the silent night was disturbed with screams and pleas. The traders tried to fight back, a few of them transforming into their weak werewolf forms. If I thought I had seen humiliation, this was the worst. Before the elite wolves, they looked like cubs. Small and inferior. It made the killing process easier. As the weaker wolves attacked, the bigger wolves curved strategically, sinking their fangs into their necks. One snap and they all went limp. All except the squirming slave master. Who looked like he was on the verge of passing out. “P…Please….” Asher's cold gaze made him hold his breath, afraid the wolves would kill him if he even breathed wrong. “I don't intend to kill you. I need your help,” Asher said slowly. I looked at him in
Xenra "You want to kill yourself with that bag of nonsense?" Asher's low growl shattered the momentary silence that had accompanied the thick darkness surrounding us. Huh! Did he just call me a bag of nonsense? I was still trying to process Asher's words when I felt the arms of my saviour give way. My eyes bulged, and before I could get myself to say no or tug onto his arms, my body met the ground with a loud thud, sending dust flying in the air like a heavy bag would. My eyes screwed shut, and I coughed, choking from the smell of dust that flew into my mouth and nostrils from that collision. A loud throaty chuckle covered my coughing sound; they all seemed entertained. The sound of which made my blood boil. 'This is the height of it; I can't take it anymore. How dare they do this to me, a vampire queen?!' My fists balled, and my eyes flew open as I tried to spring myself up like I had always done, but I could only move my clenched fists and tight muscles. 'Damn! Curse this sac
Xenra "He has not been a bad leader after all, even though he's still that cruel, heartless pack of ice I've always known," my inner voice dripped with admiration. My lips turned downward, and I nodded my head as I took in the sight before me. I noticed the once rocky and rough roads were now smothered and overlaid with marbles, not just in his courtyard. The streets had tiled roads as well, unlike what I had remembered. I had always disliked coming to his pack because the black trail of my gown always got smeared with dust every time I visited, despite how careful I was. "Fall in!" The one that had commented on my skin earlier ordered, and the two ladies scrambled together at his voice. They were clearly scared. As expectedof lowly Omegas, the fear in their faces was undeniable, but how could I, Xenra, be told what to do and what not to? A snort of derision escaped my nostrils at my thoughts, and I rolled my eyes, maintaining my stance. As it should be, he gestured at the girl
Asher "Asher," Akira's voice echoed in the hallway that morning, halting me in my tracks. As ever, she was bubbling like the morning sun. A sense of calm washed over me as her heels tapped the marble floor beneath her in a quick, fast pace. Although I had a pile of duties to attend to that morning in my office, nothing could ever come before my sister, who was the only family I had left. I turned towards her to find her face broadened with a smile, her golden hair ruffled from her night sleep. As carefree as ever. She seemed to have just awoken from a long, peaceful night's sleep. The warmth she exuded was contagious and made my lips spread into a light smile. "I heard you came home with some slaves last night," she said, her words ringing with cheerful excitement as she fixed her pair of grey eyes on me, causing me to nod my head in response. At my response, her hands flew to her jaw; she seemed to be contemplating it. "Really." She paused for a fleeting seconds, and then she
Asher "I think you don't just like her," I said calmly, even as I pointed out to her that she was having a biased perception of her. I knew her perception of her would change when they got to spend more time together. At least I've been with her for a while, and I knew her better than anyone else in the pack. "Don't worry, when she becomes part of our pack, I'm sure you'd learn to love her," I added calmly, hoping to ease whatever trouble she seemed to have with her. But Akira didn't say a word. She clearly wasn't buying it. I couldn't afford to have my only family be in a loggerhead with my future Luna; I was going to do all it costs to ensure they both get to understand each other. Akira stood there with a disapproving mouth pout, her hands crossed in front of her. Seeing the seriousness on her face, I decided to ease her up a bit."Don't worry, Akira; even if she's ruthless to every other person, she wouldn't dare do that to you, because she knows you're my priceless
Xenra"Take this," The rench keeper threw a bucket my way, which I instinctively caught—a habit I was used to.Before my betrayal, I had grown accustomed to the habit of catching whatever was thrown my way. Although it was a game I had always played with Lenhandro. Like they say, 'old habit dies hard,' even that chubby body couldn't stop my old habit.Luckily for me, this time around there weren't any dung or splashes on my face; otherwise, I probably would have learnt how to stick my hands by my side the next time and skilfully avoid it."Go to the barn and clear their dung," he ordered, his words dripping mercilessly.Did he think it was a delight to be a dung remover? As much as I wanted to tell him to go do it himself if he thought it easy, I had to nibble on my lip to stop myself from speaking back at him and mentally tell him to go off.He had threatened to cut off my lunch the next time I challenged him like I did the previous night, and ever since I perceived the sumptuous aro
LenhandroMy heart was greatly uneasy as I journeyed from my pack to Maltos' Castle. Although I hadn't lost my confidence, I couldn't help thinking about the possible probabilities.Among all the questions swirling within me, one thought was deeply seated in my heart: what would Xenra's reaction be?The more I tried to figure it out, and the more I tried to reconcile Xenra's character to her possible reaction, the more I felt greatly disturbed.I was faced with an insurmountable mountain, not sure of what lay ahead of me, but one thing I was sure about was the fact that I was going to end her life again."You were lucky the first time, Xenra, but you won't be lucky this time around!" I muttered beneath my breath, my lips curling upwards with a fierce determination. After a while, I snapped out of the thoughts that had kept me busy and turned towards my brother, Randy, and personal assistant, Jerome, who were both on the horses beside my chariot."When we get to Maltos' Castle," I bega
LenhandroMy hands were folded behind me as I stared at the throne where I had once occupied. After a very long time, I was back to my pack, and as I fixed my gaze upon it, I felt a renewed sense of energy coursing through my veins. The emerging figure of Jerome walking towards his post caught my attention, but he wasn't the gallant, ever-ready Jerome I had always known. He was reduced to a mere shadow of himself, trembling all over like a weakling, with his fingers held beneath his stomach. He couldn't even meet my gaze. After a while of staring at him, I tore my gaze away from him and fixed it back on my golden throne, with its soft white cushion and lion-head armchair. As I pondered my next course of action, my brother Randy's voice rang out from behind me, "Brother!" He called, his voice ringing with excitement. As the soft thud on the wooden floor drew closer, I turned towards him, a broad smile clearly plastered on his face."I've missed you so much, brother!" Randy exclaimed, h
Xenra"Xenra!" The unmistakable, shrill voice of Zara sliced through the quietness hanging over the path leading to the maid's quarters.I turned towards the direction where the voice had come to find Zara running towards me with her arms outstretched, ready for a hug. Before I could say a word, she threw herself at me, wrapping her hands tightly around me, giggling and bouncing with excitement."It's so nice to have you back!" She exclaimed, almost screaming, her words trembling with happiness. She held onto me for a while, and by the time she parted, her lips were broadly spread apart."So tell me, tell me, tell me everything that happened during your stay in the vampire queen's kingdom," she begged, her words tumbling out in a rush, her eyes wide with excitement. But all I could do was to giggle, indulging in her warmth and excitement. As we began to walk towards our room, she held my hands. "Xenra, I'm so happy you're back with every member of your being. You don't know how worrie
LenaI silently puffed out a breath as I settled into the chair's backrest. "That was close!" I mouthed even as I tried to still my racing heart.I screwed my eyes shut, and my mind began to travel back to what Lena had told me. As the memories lingered, it almost took everything I had to resist the urge to bang my head, even as I recalled what she had told me.'You're such a moron, Lena, how could you forget the story of how they met?' I asked myself, greatly displeased about the fact that I almost blew up my cover.Gradually, I began to give in to the memories that strolled past me, the memories of how Lena had told me everything. It was one of those days when I had visited her pack after months of bonding with her. On that particular day, she took me to her favourite peach tree.Although it wasn't the first time we had spent time under that tree, nor was I oblivious to the fact that she lived in that particular spot, that day my curiosity heightened since I knew I had to learn as
AsherFinally everything was ready, and it was time to leave. As I walked towards the chariot with Lena tugging closely beside me, I saw Xenra take three steps backwards from the side of the chariot where she stood. Her withdrawal pierced me in the heart, as I didn't need anyone to tell me she was avoiding me.In that instant, a great pang of sadness settled in my heart, accompanied by a looming guilt about everything that had happened. As I settled into the chariot, I couldn't stop the questions that swirled within me.'Why's Xenra behaving like that?' I asked myself, but no matter how I thought about it, I just couldn't understand why she had decided to stay away from me.'Did I really do something wrong?' My question rang in my head, causing my brows to slightly furrow.Right there, my mind began to replay what had happened ever since that night, and no matter how much I thought about it, I just couldn't wrap my head around what the reason was.I turned towards her, but she swiftly
XenraI watched with a heavy heart as the guards carried their belongings to the horses. Although I had arranged my belongings and had taken them outside, I couldn't find the courage to take them to the horses that were already prepared for departure. While they went about their businesses, I found myself walking towards the entrance of the palace hall, where I stood a few feet away.As I fixed my gaze on the inscription above the door of the palace hall, where "Maltos' castle" was boldly written,A great sense of nostalgia washed over me, evoking memories of my reign as the vampire queen, dressed in my regalia and escorted by Marcus during my official duties. As the memories lingered, I felt greatly reluctant to leave. A great pang of sadness settled in my heart, and longing tugged along, especially since I knew I had to leave, and as I gave in to those feelings within me, I swore,"I promise you, I'll come back home as who I really am and not as a stranger in my home." My gaze fix
XenraAs I resolved within myself, the soft rattling on the door snapped me out of the thoughts that had kept me busy.In that instant, I jolted and began to walk towards the door, but after two steps, I halted in my tracks."Wait, what has gotten over you?" I mused, my brows deeply furrowed as I pondered why I was behaving frantically. But I didn't even have the time to ponder it, as the rattle on the door snapped me back to action. In that instant, I snapped back to the present, took a deep breath, and straightened my spine, even as I prepared myself for whatever was coming.I had thought it was Lena or one of those people I didn't want to see, like Asher or the impersonator, so I prepared myself for any upcoming confrontation. As I walked gently this time around to the door, I heard the unmistakable voice of Marcus, "It's me, my lady." He said, with a small, hushed tone.As soon as I heard his voice, I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding and doubled my steps to the door.
XenraMy steps were fast as I dashed through the part that led to my room. With a loud bang, I slammed the door shut, feeling my heart banging hard against my chest."What was I looking at?" I muttered beneath my breath, wondering why I had stood still like an idiot, watching Asher and Lena have their intimate moment. No matter how I thought about it, I just couldn't understand what got me so entranced that I forgot my senses. But as my thoughts lingered, I felt a looming anger within me, gradually coursing through my veins, until I was completely absorbed in it.I was angry that I had seen them kissing; I was angry about the fact that I had bumped into them at that very moment; I was angry that I was affected by it; and I was more angry that I was angry about it."What is really wrong with me?" I asked and paced back and forth, sighing in frustration with a loud puff of breath.Ever since that night with Asher, I haven't been myself. I just couldn't understand why it felt so difficul
Asher"What are you still doing? Get out!" Lena ordered, the anger laced in her voice unmistakable."How dare you stare at us that way?" She glared at Xenra, who was standing with her head lowered."See how you were looking at us as if you wanted my man to yourself," Lena spat, her voice heavy with menace. "Just because you were able to help alleviate his symptoms, you think you have the right to be where we are?" Lena threw her question to Xenra, who clearly couldn't get herself to say a word to her.I opened my mouth to speak, but after about two seconds, I closed it and pushed back the words that had formed in my throat back to the pit of my stomach.I wanted to tell Lena that it was enough; I wanted to tell her she was being too harsh on Xenra, but then, I knew I shouldn't.I didn't want Lena to get suspicious of anything or even have an opinion. So I had to refrain from intervening in it.Yet, Lena wasn't satisfied with what she had just said, as she continued talking down on Xe
