I sat down quietly waiting to be given the answer script and question paper. The hall was not stuffy, jam-packed or hot as usual because people in our department were divided into about three groups to take the exam in different venues.

"If you have any thing or any material that will implicate you kindly take it away. And again there's no room for exam malpractice, anyone who is caught would would be punished severely" one of the invigilators said shouting on top of her voice.

"And do you know what the punishment would be? She continued moving from side to side, "the person would have to write the exam again, that's carry over.

"Screw you all" someone scoffed, the voice was coming from someone at the back and the invigilator ignored it, it seemed they were used to that kind of stuff. Then they started sharing the question and answer script in an orderly manner.

Good heaven's!, I heard someone exclaim beside me. It was obvious whoever it was had been given the question paper and was

Tomorrow being Friday was the last day of the exam. I glanced at my wrist watch, the time had really gone quickly as it was already six o'clock in the evening. I stood at the side of the road looking stranded and tired. I had actually gone to the market that was outside school hostel earlier to get some things I wanted to use to prepare soup. After buying everything I needed and was about to go home it had started raining heavily. I watched my the rain pour down non stop for nearly two hours before it turned into drizzle, with only small drops of water. I was was actually taking cover under a small stall made with zink and wood, but when the the rain was no longer heavy, I came out to see if I would get any bus that was going to the school hostel. I waited endlessly four some minutes without seeing any bus. Almost all the buses I saw were going to town, which was at the other side of the road. There were also many students like me who had also come from the hostel to get somethi

Why do you keep staring at that bus" Daniel asked. We were caught up in traffic and movement was very slow. It was the other side of the road that was somewhat free. I adjusted the sit belt making myself more comfortable."That bus that they are trying to fix over there was collecting extra two hundred naira charges in addition to the normal amount and I was not with enough money so he refused to allow me enter" I stated, narrating everything that had happened to him."Hmm, really" He only said looking looking at the direction the bus was parked again."God! I feel like throwing up" I said spitting out of the window after we waited like what looked like forever, for the road to clear."There's nylon over there in case you feel like throwing up, I would dispose it later, sorry my love."It's fine I would hold myself" I said yawning and covering my mouth with the back of my palm. I was really very tired and stressed and the only thing I needed now was to eat and sleep. The last paper I

I came out from the exam Hall which was taken in the school CBT centre exactly at four o'clock because it was an afternoon paper. It was an hour examination from three o'clock to four o'clock pm. The weather was very hot and still sunny. The sun in the sky shone brightly like it was still two o'clock in the afternoon. I used the White and spotted blank handkerchief that I was holding to shield my face from the sun by placing it on my head. Then I saw my coursemate Hannah at the front and ran fast to catch up with her. Her legs were tiny and long like that of a ostrich and she always walked as if her feet never touched the ground and as if she was in a hurry."Hi Mira!, Didn't know your exam was also today o, and I didn't see you in the hall" She said when she sighted me as I got beside her."Almost everyone in our class had exam today, I think it's law and medicine students that their general paper would be tomorrow" I said trying to walk with the same pace with her, she noticed that a

I hesitated before getting into the car sitting at the back sit. There was an awful smell in the car that I almost choked. I looked at the driver from the rearview mirror and he smiled at me, I looked away quickly. He was wearing a nose mask and I wondered why. After last year when the Corona virus was spreading like wild fire, no one really wore a face or nose mask again while going out or walking on the road except when going to an important place or to a bank, well, some people were just weird."Where did he say you should drop me at? His house? I asked relaxing my back, as it started to ache me. I wondered the kind of surprise Daniel wanted to show me. "At his place, madame" He said smiling politely. But there was something about this smile that irritated me. The nose mask he was wearing also made his voice inaudible, but I actually heard what he had said."Okay" I replied dialling Daniels number again this time it was switched off, not that it was actual network failure but

She was breathing heavily and looked like she was ready to devour any one that came her way. So that wasn't it, this is how I would be beaten up mercilessly by my fellow girl for something I knew nothing about. I thought of my parents, they would be thinking their daughter is safe in the hostel, my dad would be very disappointed if he ever finds out I got entangled in this kind of shit.I thought of Daniel, does he even know what he had actually gotten me into, if not something worse I I might as well get scar that might never leave my body. What kind of business did he have to do with these dangerous looking men. didn't actually want to think or imagine that Daniel was actually a bad guy or worked for bad guys, I trusted him much and dreaded the idea of him engaging in any fraudulent activities.Throwing away his cigarette he whispered to the scary looking girl and was about to leave when I shouted behind him."How has all this got to do with me, and how do you know hurting me

He came back opening the bottle of water and bringing it my mouth.I hesitated before opening my mouth gulping down the water thirstily and some poured on my body. After that he closed my mouth with the tape again and went out of the room and I was left alone.I looked out of the window which was half open, I saw only trees and tall buildings that were around the building. it was an upstairs, I never realized it was until I looked out of the window.I wo

I looked away as he continued staring at me unblinking. I was kind of relieved that Daniel had managed to do something even if it was not complete yet at least I had hope of leaving this miserable place soon. I pray nothing would ever make me find myself in this kind of place and condition again.Coming close to me held me on my cheek where I had been hit severally and I winced backing away."Aww, what have they done to you, poor thing" He said caressing my cheeks which infuriated me."Get away from me" I said almost in a whisper, too tired to talk. He withdrew his hand immediately bringing out a cigarette from his pocket lighting it with a lighter. The smell from the flicker's of smoke filled the air. It almost choked me as I started to cough. I was not asthmatic but I was allergic to anything like smoke. I started to cough and my throat hurt so badly."Ohh, does it disturb you, sorry man" He said mockingly and continued with what he was doing. My phone rang again and he quickly wen

One day passed without me hearing from Daniel and the two men never told me about him paying anything. My phone rang only when they were not around any there was no one to pick up the call. I wondered if my dad was actually one of the caller, he would be very worried and might call one of my roommates, I knew they would probably try to cover up for me but for how long, and what would I actually tell him had happened that I had not been taking his calls for days.I sighted shutting my eyes and taking another deep breath. I remembered vaguely about Daniel talking about a business he was doing but I never imagined it was a type that could actually risk someone's life, not just someone, my own life, his girlfriend's life.I was so angry and infuriated and also tired of everything. I decided to take my mind away from it to avoid getting a fit.Last night I almost thought I would die and never see the breaking of a day again. "Good evening" I greeted casually taking a seat."Good evening too" He replied clearing his throat."Please go straight to the point, I don't have time" I said crossing my legs."How impatient you have become" He muttered rubbing his forehead like he always does when he was nervous. What he told me really shocked me. He talked about how his phone had been stolen the day he got home and how he had lost my contact. He talked about how he had received it after some weeks and expected my calls or text but never saw them. Then when school had resumed then he had gone back to school. And after some weeks he had expected me to visit him at least even though I never called but he never saw any sign of me.He said that after some months Martha had come to his place unexpectedly and told him that I had an accident and died in the process back at home. I couldn't believe my ears. I didn't believe him at first but then he asked me to call Martha myself and confirm it in his front. He said she had

I had assured her that one day, her dad would come back from were he had traveled to and wouldn't go leave her again, and that seemed to work as she stopped disturbing me about it.She was four years and five months old now but talked and reasoned like an adult sometimes, it really marveled me and people always says that she looked bigger than her age.I could say I was a successful woman now as I owned five big and well known eateries in five different states which I named after me and had some less privileged children studying on scholarship in different schools in my name. There was a special way cooked the vegetables soup. I learnt it from Daniel and I realized that people really loved it. Finally after four months and some weeks I entered into labour. It was on a weekend and fortunately Anabelle was around. I was immediately rushed to the hospital where I delivered a baby girl.Going into labour and delivering was really the one thing I dreaded most. It was a beautiful weekend. Anabelle had decided to accompany me to the boutique to buy some clothes and other things I needed. After bathing and dressing up we left for the boutique."This boutique sells good clothes at affordable price, not like those ones that put too much profit on their dresses" Anabelle said as we entered the boutique. It was filled with different people who had also come to buy clothes or hand bags. After getting some clothes a nightie and some other stuffs I needed we paid for it and left for the house. Anabelle also got herself some clothes, ripped jeans and some gowns. There was traffic on the road and we stayed in the bus longer than we were supposed to. I almost vomited there as the smell of the bus made me feel like throwing up but I held myself. Finally we were home. I didn't know why I was becoming too emotional these days and could cry at any slighted thing. I looked down at my stomach, rubbing it gently and forcing myself not to break down and cry.
