Evelyn's POV.
As he glided through the hall, his chiseled features and piercing green eyes commanded attention. His sharp jawline, prominent cheekbones, and full lips crafted a masterpiece of masculine beauty.
His tailored suit accentuated his broad shoulders and a lean physique, exuding confidence and power. Raven-black hair framed his face, perfectly styled.
Yet, an icy demeanor tempered his captivating appearance. His eyes seemed to hold a thousand secrets, none of which he'd share.
“My goodness, this is my first time seeing him in person. I knew he would be more charming than the rumor claimed.” Someone said in a daze.
Despite the frosty exterior, women's eyes widened as he passed. Whispered sighs and stifled gasps filled the air. Heads turned, mesmerized by his majesty.
A subtle smile played on his lips when he turned to his mother, but his eyes remained frozen, unreadable. He was a statue of perfection, unattainable and unyielding.
As he walked, the room parted like a sea, people swaying to clear his path. His presence was a force of nature, awe-inspiring and intimidating.
“Are you in love already?” The lady in black dress whispered to me. I spared her a glance and she winked. “I told you that you'll fall in love immediately you see him for yourself,” she repeated.
I moved my gaze back to the enigmatic stranger, the Alpha King. He looked just like Dylan with the same facial features, yet his face was void of any emotion. This had to be a misunderstanding. Dylan had no wealth, and he was no one with power or status. I never got any impression that he was someone of great power when I was with him.
He was always quiet, calm, and gentle even in bed. He never acted against me, and although we never had any real conversations, he had always been flirtatious and eager to please, almost debauched.
However, the man who just walked in was nothing like the man I knew. He was aloof, cold, and distant. His presence commands respect and for all my life I have never seen anyone with this much power.
Perhaps I was hallucinating, and there was only one way to find out. I reached for my phone as slowly as I could, and scrolled through the number, looking for a specific number that could explain what was currently happening.
I froze in place and the air on the back of my neck raised as goosebumps crept to my arms. Instinctively, I lifted my head only to see a pair of gunmetal eyes staring back at me.
My breath caught in my throat and my heart skipped a beat as I met the Alpha King's gaze, and it felt like time has slowed down, leaving just the both of us caught in a trance.
I placed the phone on my ear and waited for the line to connect while keeping my gaze locked on the man in front of me. I scrutinized my gaze, hoping to get a reaction, but I got nothing as his face remained blank.
“Thank the Moon Goddess,” I sighed, feeling a sense of relief washed over me as I attempted to end the call but the line suddenly connected.
My face turned pale, and my stomach lured as the Alpha King gently placed the phone on his ear and the words from the other end of the phone made me jerk back in utter fear.
“Speak!” That word alone made my throat dry and my eyes widened in horror. Without hesitation, I ended the call, my hand shaking in trepidation.
How could this be possible?
Fear gripped my heart and I closed my eyes to fight the nauseous feeling, but memories of that night came rushing back instead. I remembered everything vividly.
Seth has announced his relationship with Veronica that night and their betrayal. He left with Veronica to another country. I had been hurt to the extent that it became hard to breathe.
My best friend–Adeline had convinced me to go to a nightclub and I carved the distraction. I wanted every means to forget everything that happened to me, and before I could realize it, we had drunk too much and Adeline had ordered for male models.
And Dylan had been among them and I had spent a night with him. I only intended to spend the night with him but the moment I woke up to see how good-looking he was, I had decided to keep him and that was my biggest mistake.
Moving him into one of my villas, giving him a monthly allowance of 100,000. His response had been straightforward and ever since then I'd visited him whenever I felt like it, and we’d always end up in bed.
We never asked each other too many questions or felt curious to know more about the other person. Our unspoken agreement was just to enjoy each other. But now, it turned out to be the most reckless thing that I had ever done.
Keeping him and having those nights with him…
I had been planning to end the illicit relationship when I realized that I had already fallen into his trap all along.
How could I be so impulsive? Keeping a man I knew nothing about for three years and discovering that he was the Alpha King? The world was really working against me in every way possible.
Tearing my gaze away, I made my way to the bar, brushing through the crowd to get as far away from him as possible.
“Whiskey,” I ordered, and the bartender nodded in response. My hands clenched in frustration as I tried to calm my racing heart but all to no avail. What would this change?
Recalling our last conversation on the phone and seeing him now, I could tell that things were going to be more difficult than it was.
“Here's your order,” the bartender slid the drink towards me on the counter and I wasted no time in gulping it.

Seth's POV
“My love, I'll come to you tonight, but I just need to finish up something,” I pressed a finger to my temple as exhaustion tugged on my eyelids.
I was already getting drained and not to forget that I had got a cold last night. “I told you that my father wanted me to do something for him. There's a lot to do and my absence in the Pack for three years is a lot. I still need to catch up on some things. But don't worry, I'll get you your favorite chocolate cake before coming over tonight,” I added when the silence stretched from the other end.
The call had been going on for minutes now, and I still had to return to the hall to meet the Alpha King.
Few more minutes and I ended the call before returning to the hall. I quickly spotted Evelyn at a corner and I made my way towards her, but suddenly the room became quiet, almost as if someone had muted the sounds.
Footsteps ensued, and the sound echoed in the silence. Everyone turned to the entrance and I followed instinctively.
A tall man, well-built and dressed in expensive clothes matched in and tension hung in the air. As I drew closer, my eyes widened in disbelief. There was only one word to describe my situation and that was 'Doom'.
I could still remember him clearly. The man who had been my professor in the heir course and also the reason I was yet to graduate. My face burned in shame as I recalled how he humiliated me in public during his class, calling my abilities mild and best suited for an omega.
He was the bane of my existence and ever since that class, I had been ostracized and ridiculed because of him. My hatred for him was rooted deep, and I cursed the day I bow to him. Nevertheless, the universe just had to curse me by making him the Alpha King. Securing the project is rop priority and If the only way to get the project is to ask Evelyn for help, then so be it.
Heaving a sigh, I looked back at Evelyn, but she was no longer at the corner. Where was she?
My eyes darted around the hall until I found her seated quietly at the bar. She looked vulnerable and lost in thoughts.
“Something wrong?” I asked when close enough. She gradually lifted her head to look at me.
“I'm heartbroken and upset,” she replied with a shrug, yet her eyes swirled with emotions.
Rubbing the nape, I cleared my throat while contemplating for a while. She reached for another drink again, but I instantly placed my hand on the glass to stop her.
“Can…” I started, almost stuttering. "Could you go talk to the Alpha King for me later?”
Evelyn's POVI narrowed my eyes as I tried to read his body language and get exactly what he was thinking. “You're supposed to meet him yourself,” I pointed out as I reached for my drink, but he tightened his grip around it.I arched a brow while his lips twitched. “I know that already. I'm just asking you to meet with him and discuss the project with him. Besides that's why we came?” He replied, looking impatient as he hissed at me.Leaning back against the seat, he tucked a strand of hair behind my ears. “Alpha Raymond already emphasized that you're to meet with him and get his approval,” I looked at him curiously. What was he thinking? Was he going to back down already?“I know what I'm doing. Just meet with him and discuss the project with him. I believe you can handle that,” he pushed the drink towards me. “Just speak with him so we can leave here early,” he said.Eyeing him, I took the drink and gulped the whole content before standing up. I just had to meet him and discuss the
Evelyn's POVSeth struggled to stand on his feet, but he almost dropped to the floor if I hadn't held him still. He cursed underneath his breath while I put an arm around his shoulder. “Should we start going?” I said loud enough for everyone to hear.I had no intention of staying even a second longer here. Especially with the eyes that were focused on me. “Watch your steps,” I growled at him when he kept losing his balance.“I'm trying!” He snapped at me, his face red.“You and your husband really have a good relationship, but don’t forget that you still owe me something.” the Alpha King's voice made me halt to look at him. His hands were crossed over his chest and a sarcastic smile played on his lips.“I understand that I owe…" I trailed off looking around and finding all eyes on me. They were patiently waiting for me to say something, I could see it in their eyes, the excitement to hear the side of the story and know what exactly I owe him. However, I was equally confused. What exac
Evelyn's POV."Dylan!"I gently called out his name, as my fingers dug into his skin. I held tightly on him, my body arched to receive every thrust he was ramming into me. I felt his hand slid lower, pulling me forward until my hips were on the pillow, angled in a way that made every thrust more intense.I didn't want him to stop. My mind had gone blank with desire, as he spoke against my skin. "you're irresistible, Evelyn," his deep baritone voice sent a tingling sensation that traveled down my spine, causing my toes to curl in pleasure. Suddenly he stopped. His gaze fixated on me and I waited earnestly for what he wanted to do next. But he just continued to stir at me seductively.I had no choice but to drag him forward to myself. "Not yet," came his voice again and it made me gasp as raw pleasure burned deep within me.I closed my eyes, fighting back my climax. Then he began to pound faster, hitting the very soft spot that heightened the feeling."Dylan! please," I implored, unsur
Evelyn's POV"I'm truly sorry about this. I... I never thought that something like this would happen," she said with a trembling voice. Her eyes were getting wet with tears. My eyes almost zeroed at her, realizing that she wasn't actually apologizing but instead mocking me. I could tell very well what a real apology was. Her lips were slightly raised at the side and her eyes were unnecessarily wider than usual. If they were something I learnt during the years of being friends with her, it was that she could switch emotions as fast as a chameleon changes colors."How many months is it?" I asked next, ignoring her replies to my questions. The sound of the igniting engine beside me added to the tension as it served as a reminder that we were still at the airport. Her shoulders trembled again, her lips parted just the same time as a tear slid down her cheek. "It's been five months," she answered.I took in a deep breath as my gaze fell on the bump again. This had been so shocking even tho
Evelyn's POV"Sometimes I wonder what runs through that tiny brain of yours. What exactly did you see in that little fox?" Luna Janet glared at Seth.Seth shifted uncomfortably in his seat, sweat beading his hairline as he kept his gaze on the coral rug like it was something fascinating."I've told you several times, mum. Veronica is innocent, she's lovely and brilliant. You don't know that because you haven't been close to her enough to--" he started but she immediately cut him off with a scoff."I believe Evelyn's has more of an idea about the kind of person Veronica is. She's a snake and a distraction," she snapped."Mum, she's not a snake or a distraction," his voice was almost inaudible."Then explain why you performed very poorly in the Silver Universe Pack's heir training course. You didn't only disappoint me and your father but also the entire pack," her voice was laced with frustration and I could see disappointment in her eyes.My gaze moved between them, and it felt like th
Evelyn's POV“You'll get to know his name in due time, but first you must gain his approval,” the sharp tone of Alpha Raymond resounded as he gave Seth a stern look.“How do I gain his approval if I know nothing about him? Shouldn't I at least get his name and why he's greatly respected?” Seth asked, his eyes beaming with pride. My gaze traveled to Luna Janet who wrinkled her nose in disgust. I had a feeling that she only tolerated him because he was her son and unfortunately the only heir to the throne.“He's the Alpha of the Silver Universe Pack, and he started ruling over the other Pack at a very young age. You see, unlike you, he had taken the throne as a teenager after his father's early demise,” Alpha Raymond continued, his eyes locked on his son.The deafening silence ensued until Luna Janet cleared her throat. “Seth, this Alpha isn't someone to be taken lightly. Although in his 30s, he already had much control over other packs at a very tender age. During the time that the Pac
Evelyn's POVSeth growled, his eyes searching mine for confirmation, but I kept a blank expression until he gave up. Taking off his shirt, he walked to the bathroom, dropping his clothes on the couch.I stared at the bathroom door in silence before keeping the phone down at the nightstand. The conversation with the enigmatic stranger made me feel weird, but I tried to push the thought aside while standing up to fix the air conditioning to the lowest temperature.Seth's parents could tolerate his behavior because he was the heir to the throne, but I couldn't say the same. The door to the bathroom opened and Seth stepped into the room with a towel wrapped around his waist.“You can stare for long, but I doubt that's appropriate given the situation we are in. It might give the impression that you want more from me which might make things more awkward,” he eyed me, an amusing smile gracing his lips.I rolled my eyes, wondering how dumb he must be to utter such nonsense without shame. My s
Evelyn's POV“How long is this line going to take?” Seth growled behind me, but my gaze was focused on two figures. My mother– Luna of the Orion Pack and her biological daughter– Stella.Stella smiled back at my mother, Luna Naomi who smiled back at her, looking proud and satisfied. I tried to suppress the feeling that weighed on my chest, but it suddenly became suffocating. I couldn't remember the last time my mother ever smiled at me like that.“Greetings to the powerful lady of the Silver Universe, happy birthday. We'd like to present our gifts to you, your Grace,” Stella placed the gift in front of the Alpha King’s mother, who calmly accepted it. The whole place was filled with expensive gifts and there were still more coming from the guests. The Luna sat poised in the grand hall, surrounded by opulent furnishings and crystal chandeliers. Soft, golden light danced across her porcelain skin, highlighting her delicate features and radiant complexion.“It's an expensive jewelry made
