Secret and impatience

"I think you might not have been kidding about inspiring me to try harder. But, I guess that means you've been keeping secrets too!" he teased with mock severity. She smiled lightly in response.

"What about you? Any interests or passions?"

He considered for a moment before shaking his head, "No. Not really."

"That's odd. Most people usually have some interest or passion in their life."

"Yeah, well..." he trailed off lamely. Then he laughed suddenly, "I used to play the saxophone. I never actually learned, of course. My brother convinced me it would improve my singing. I guess I should have listened to him instead of thinking for myself."

She raised an inquisitive eyebrow, wondering whether he ever thought for himself, or simply blindly followed the instructions of others.
