Chapter 7

James's POV

I waltzed into the room where the pack elders were seated, waiting patiently for my presence before the council meeting kick-started.

I took my seat on a wooden oak chair, crossed my legs over and adjusted my glasses.

The elders were five in numbers. Each representing the four natural elements of water, air, earth and fire. And then the chief of the pack elders. Elder Claude.

We sat around a round table with a chandelier light hung above the table, adding additional lighting to the room.

“ We now begin this meeting!." Claude's voice, crackly and frail, echoed through the room. His voice quavered. An indication that he was heavily advanced in age.

Silence swept across the room.

“Who called this meeting and why did the person call for this impromptu gathering?." I asked. My eyes darted around.

“Everyone has suddenly grown numb huh!?." I articulated.

" I __ I called for this meeting.” Claude finally found his tongue. Our eyes locked and his Adam apple bobbed. Ne

I leaned towards Shirley, took her hands,my gaze pierced deep into her soul, desperate for answers.“ It's a past I don't want to recall. A path I do not wish to track again .” Shirley answered,a soft sniffle escaped from her nose. Her eyes flickered with hurtful emotions.I stretched out my hand and patted her gently on the back." I am deeply sorry for your loss. It must have hurt really bad. Losing your parents must have made you lose your sanity and every emotion you held dear.” I said. My eyes narrowed in concern.“Your parents must have died for a good cause?." I whispered softly and Shirley nodded.Shirley's lips stretched out forcefully to a smile.“They were good people." Shirley accredited me and I sighed exhaustedly." It's okay__ I am way past that. I am way past the pain. I just had to move on and I have moved on.“ How were the other Luna's?". She thinks she can run and get away with the consequences of escaping.”“Ella is going to be found and when this happens I promise to deliver her head on a silver platter for all those who think they can stand against me to see. She's not easily subdued and I am finding it hard to break her like I did for the other's.”“ I don't like that she wolf, not even for one bit". Sasha remarked matter-of-factly." You are not supposed to like her. Sheila is just here because the pack was in need of a Luna and she was my available mate.” I reported and pinched on his nose.“Sh

Her long auburn hair fell down like a waterfall and swayed behind her as she walked.“Hello Alpha brother." Veena called out and pulled me to a hug. Her fragrance diffused around me, clinging to me like good luck.“I miss you Veen. I can't believe you were away for so long.” We pulled away from each other and she took a seat opposite me.“It's been a while." Veena grinned.“Two years __?." I asked, unsure of how long Veena had been away." The trees ran past us in full speed as we made our way through the thick forest of the city's countryside. Veena sat behind the wheel, popping a bubble gum without paying heed to what I just asked. The chilling atmosphere in the car,the revving sound from the engines soothed my frayed mind .“ Aren't you paying attention?." I questioned again, pinching my nose frequently.“ Of course brother. You need to see a shaman. Someone to tell you what to do. A guide.” " Why's that? What makes you think I need to visit a shaman?.” I bombarded, my eyes fixated outside the car.“ Because it's unnatural for you to be Alpha and not have a Luna. C'mon brother, you know better than me how absurd it is. A shaman is just the right person to put our pack out of its misery." Veena uttered and I sighed." I didn't sign up for you to come back and turn my daily life into a hassle.” I complained.Veena str

She commented flatly. “ Last I checked, I walked into this territory with just a few pieces of clothing on me. Why don't you refer that ridiculous question of yours to Luca or maybe Shirley.” Sasha kept mute and walked away from me. Her eyes scanned the entire room before she pursed her butt on my neatly dressed bed.“ So Sheila ___ tell me more about you. Your family and friends. We'll find better ways to attack the dark moon pack. For now we lay low." I assured myself over my shoulders.Hardin wasn't satisfied with my response. That was so bland. I had given him a mandate of getting his men ready earlier today in order for them to unleash terror on the dark moon pack and possibly rescue all the she-wolf victims held bondage by Luca.“But the men are prepared for battle." He asserted.I turned and faced hardin, my countenance demure.“You don't have to worry about anything. We'll raid Luca's pack some other times. Everything was complicated but now felt more assuring and soothing like inhaling the air of freedom. “We need to keep moving. We don't have time to relax and chill out. Alpha Luca's men are after us as we speak. They would have noticed that you are no longer within the pack walls and his Majesty would do anything to make sure his Luna is brought back home." Shirley was right. A guard had spotted me escaping already. It wouldn't take long for words to reach Luca if it hadn't by now. “I guess you are right. Luca's men are already on the move.
