Steve felt a pang in his chest as he saw Rican standing at the foot of the stairs, eyes flashing with fury, fists clenched as if ready for a fight and James was standing beside him.Without hesitation, he walked toward his son, trying to ignore the bitterness and hurt that mixed with concern. Alessa lingered near the back, visibly tense.

She finally saw him as a small smile flashed on her face but it didn’t last long when she heard there next conversation.

Steve sighed, extending a hand toward him. “Rican, you’ve just gotten out of the hospital. You’re not in any state to be this worked up. The doctor told you to rest.”

But as he reached for him, Rican slapped his hand away. “Stay the hell away from me!” he shouted, his voice echoing through th

Is he… okay?”James hesitated, not quite able to ignore the distress on her face. “He’s fine,” he answered shortly, “just sleeping now.” He turned to leave, but she called out to him again.“Wait—James, please,” she said, her voice trembling, “Can you tell me what happened to him? I saw his hand, bandaged. Did he… did he hurt himself?” Her face was etched with worry, and he could see she truly didn’t know what had happened.James scratched his head, trying to decide how much he should tell her. Finally, he said, “He, uh… he took something, okay? Rican didn’t… he didn’t hurt you, did he?” There was genuine worry in his tone, as he knew all too well the strength of Rican’s anger.Alessa’s heart twisted at his words. She took a shaky breath before answering, “I’m… I’m fine.” But her voice quivered, betraying her emotions.Xavier sighed, clearly relieved. “You have no idea how worried I’ve been. I’ve tried calling you so many times. After everything that happened, I thought…” he trailed off, his voice filled with concern. “But believe me, Alessa, I didn’t take advantage of anything. I honestly have no idea how we even ended up… like that.” He said the words carefully, smoothly, leaning back against his couch as he bit into an apple, watching her reaction through the phone.“I know, Xavier. I believe you,” Alessa said, her voice soft

65.Liam and Rose stepped into the house, finding the door slightly ajar. Rose shook her head with a small sigh. “Kids these days—so careless,” she muttered. They had just returned from a long business trip, and after weeks away, they were eager to surprise their daughter, Sia.But something still puzzled them. • My husband hates me   Book 2, Chapter 67

67.Alessa lay in a hospital bed, her breathing shallow but steady as Dr. Anishta checked her pulse. Her skin looked ghostly pale under the fluorescent lights, and an IV drip provided a steady flow of fluids to her body. Nearby, Steve stood by, a worried expression on his face. He had found her collapsed on the side of the road just a little while ago, trying to hold herself upright as she stumbled, and her steps faltering. He had rushed to help her, but before he could reach her, she had fainted, her body collapsing to the ground. Without wasting a second, he had picked her up and brought her to the nearest hospital. He watched Dr. Anishta closely, holding his breath. He couldn’t bring himself to calm, He felt responsible, protective even. But there was more to it than that; he felt a certain guilt, a need to care for her after everything she'd gone through with Rican. Steve didn’t know why but he felt certain that Alessa was innocent. He saw the pain in her eyes, it fel

  • My husband hates me   Book 2, Chapter 68

Chapter 68.Alessa sat quietly across from Rican, trying to steady her nerves. It was odd how calm Rican seemed. She had braced herself for anger, maybe even yelling or accusations. But instead, he sat silently, watching her, his eyes focused and dark in a way she hadn’t seen before. It was a strange mix—calm on the outside but carrying a hidden intensity, like a storm waiting to break. For a moment, she almost wished he would shout, even throw something, anything to break the heavy silence between them. But he just stared. He finally spoke, his voice low and controlled. “You were saying something. Complete your sentence.” There was an edge to his words, a tone that made her feel more like a stranger than his wife.Alessa swallowed hard, her throat dry as she took out the file she had brought with her. Slowly, she placed it on the table between them. Rican’s gaze moved to the file but with no sign of curiosity. His expression didn’t change; his face was a blank slate.“What

  • My husband hates me   Book 2, Chapter 69

Chapter 69 . Sia sat on the edge of the bed, looking a little annoyed. Her mother, Rosaline—who she called Rose—had practically dragged her home. Since they returned from a long business trip, they hadn’t had a real conversation. Their last talk had ended in a fight, not exactly what you'd call a pleasant chat. “I made all your favorite dishes,” Rose said with a smile, setting a large, beautifully arranged plate in front of her. Sia’s eyes lit up as she took in the food: a beautifully seasoned fish with fresh herbs and lemon zest, lightly fried to a golden crisp. Next to it was a side of fluffy white rice with a hint of coconut and fresh green beans sautéed with garlic. A small bowl of spicy, tangy mango chutney was placed beside it, adding a splash of color and sweetness. Sia’s face broke into a big smile. “Thank you, Mom! You have no idea how much I’ve been craving this! So, this is the surprise for me, MOM…” she said eagerly, diving into the food with joy. As Sia t

Groaning, I opened one eye reluctantly, and there he was—our little bundle of energy, Rowoon, standing next to the bed. His bright blue eyes sparkled with mischief, and a wide grin stretched across his chubby cheeks.“Papa! Papa awake! Chapter 85.Rican sat on the chair beside Alessa’s hospital bed, his shoulders hunched forward in defeat. His right arm in a plaster cast, and the dull ache of his injuries was nothing compared to the torment raging inside him. His gaze was fixed on Alessa’s pale, motionless face. Her fragile frame looked even smaller beneath the white hospital sheets, her skin ashen and her lips chapped. The doctor’s words echoed relentlessly in his mind, slicing through him like a blade: “We are sorry, sir, but we couldn’t save the child. The drug had already spread through her bloodstream, and given her early stage of pregnancy, there was nothing we could do. I’m truly sorry.”Rican gritted his teeth, his hands curling into fists despite the pain in his shoulder. The helpless rage boiling inside him threatened to consume him. How could he have done this? How could he have failed her so completely? It wasn’t just Xavier or Sia who were at fault. No—if anyone was to blame, it was him. Enrico R
