I walked inside, my eyes immediately drawn to her room. To my surprise, it was cloaked in darkness. Was she not home? She wasn't someone who roamed around the city at night, especially alone.

As I stood there, puzzled in the middle of the hall, our maid Mia appeared silently by my side. Her eyes were curious but respectful. "Sir, do you need anything?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, as if she sensed the unease that had settled over me.

I came back to my senses; I wanted to ask her about Alessa but didn’t know how. Before I could muster the words, Mia, as if reading my mind, offered the information I was seeking.

"Sir, Alessa ma'am went outside and told me not to wait up. She said she'd be late," Mia said.

“Did I ask?”- I replied harshly, didn’t want her to think about any nonsense stuff.

With clearing my mouth, "Did she say where she was going?" I asked, trying to mask the worry in my voice.

Mia shook her head. "No,
