Alessa sat on the bed, nervously biting her lip, her eyes glued to the ticking clock. Her mind raced, repeating the same words over and over again, “I didn’t do anything. Nothing happened. Nothing.”

But no matter how many times she reassured herself, her heart still felt like it was sinking into a pit. She couldn’t breathe properly, each second dragging on like an eternity.
