5: Life is unfair to Hanna.

**Chapter 5: Life is Unfair to Hanna**

"If that woman comes to this place, she must stay in the annex and not frequent the mansion!" she asserted. Morgan sighed impatiently.

"Are you afraid that I might give her a chance?" Morgan smiled skeptically.

"That's not it. After all, it would be hard for you to stay in a woman's life after what you did to my daughter's and grandson's lives. That's why I know if you take the risk, you'll just ruin more lives."

Morgan sighed heavily, swallowing his words without arguing with her.

"Think what you want; if that's the case... you're right then."

"Of course I am."

"When will you be able to forgive me for that? Are you going to torment me for my entire life? Will you never let this heal?" he asked, distressed.

"Never! Morgan... neither you nor I will have peace with this!" she confessed, pressing her lips together with bitterness.

He stared at her without reaction, adjusting his tie at the same time. Despite being a much larger man than Liara, who was of average height, he never dared to touch her or even say all the things he wanted to say. What he felt inside his chest was much worse than the words she spoke.

After the argument, he stood by his bedroom window, watching from a distance and waiting to see the car taking Hanna home. As soon as the car left, he sighed with relief, as if an agony had come to an end.

Hanna, on the other hand, once she left the confines of that enormous place, finally took that stifling veil off her face and breathed at last.

When she arrived home, she collapsed onto her bed, but it was not yet time to rest. She changed her clothes and quickly left the house, locking everything up. Shortly after she left, a car stopped in front of her house.

"Is she home?" asked a hooded man.

"Supposedly, yes. We were told she had just come back from a wedding," said the other, looking around the quiet, simple neighborhood, but there was no one on the street.

Hanna, meanwhile, continued her journey, anxious to see if she had managed to pay on time. Almost half an hour later, she stopped in front of a large building. She went up to the tenth floor. Already known there, she just passed through the reception and headed to the place she knew well.

She stayed there for only ten minutes before finally leaving and heading to the bus stop. After spending all the money she had, she had nothing left but the basics to take the bus and walk a few minutes.

While waiting for the bus, she laughed at herself. Just thinking about how pathetic she was, even after marrying a rich man and now being part of a family she could read about in the newspapers.

After taking the bus, she headed home. However, when she arrived, she wondered if that place was really her home. The only thing she had inherited from her mother. There were so many firefighters in front, and the large flame still spread. All the neighbors stood at a safe distance.

"Neighbor!" someone shouted, running towards her, followed by other concerned people. "Heavens... we thought you were inside," they commented while Hanna observed everything without reaction.

"What happened?" she asked with trembling lips, watching everything burn.

"We don't know how the fire started. Did you leave anything on when you left?" the person asked.

"No, I've been away for a long time and... When I got back, I left immediately..." she stammered, letting her tears fall. "My things... All the memories of my mother, everything..." she lamented breathlessly.

It was already getting dark when the fire was finally controlled and everything was extinguished, but there was nothing that could be saved. She sat on the curb on the other side of the road, facing her house, and watched with sadness.

"You must be careful," an elderly lady, supported by a cane, warned. "As they said, this fire was set deliberately. Someone might be trying to harm you. The police will investigate and collect evidence, but it's not safe for you to stay here. Besides, it's getting late. Do you have anywhere to go?"

Hanna just shook her head negatively, her eyes red.

"We know how difficult things must be for you right now. I assume you're also without money..."

"I'm fine!" she grumbled, getting up from the ground and wiping her face. But the lady held her hand and handed her an envelope.

"You can get by for two days. I know it hasn't been easy for you with everything you've been through since your mother died. Leaving early, coming back late, and barely resting to make ends meet. That's why I know with the loss of everything, you have nothing left. So, don't refuse and find a place to spend the night," she requested anxiously, showing concern.

"If... you notice these things, did you also see who entered my house?" Hanna asked suddenly, staring at her.

But the lady, apprehensive, pressed her wrinkled lips together and stepped back. Hanna just smiled bitterly. It was the only answer she wanted. With the lady's reaction, she realized that she really had seen, but couldn't tell.

"I'll find a place to spend the night. Thank you for the help. I promise I'll repay the money as soon as I get paid, okay?" she asked softly and without concern.

"You don't need to. Just go and take care of yourself. I don't want anything bad to happen to you."

Hanna nodded and turned away, walking alone and aimlessly. She walked more than necessary just to clear her mind before finding a place to sleep. She told herself not to cry, even with her entire life wiped out by the fire.

That same night, the will's lawyer arrived at the mansion looking for Morgan.

"What's going on?" Morgan asked as soon as he saw the man, who immediately showed him a photo.

"Where is she?" the lawyer asked, worried.

"What do you mean?" Morgan frowned, confused. "Don't tell me this is that woman's house."

"Where is she?" the lawyer insisted again, sharply.

"How should I know? I didn't even know this had happened."

"If she's dead, you know what could happen, right? And it hasn't even been twenty-four hours since she married you, which could result in something even worse for your family. You better find out where she is and make sure she's okay."

Within seconds, Morgan's family entered the room with the news. The lawyer initially suspected them, but then realized it might not have been them. After all, it wouldn't be beneficial for any of them.
