There were aides who used to dress him up for official outings but this was a personal mission. He had to choose on his own and his wouldn’t help.
Finally, he chose a suit randomly and was in another situation of selecting the right tie.He heard footsteps as someone walked in behind him.
“If you have come to warn me about time then I am extraordinarily late” he spoke without looking back. He was very sure of who had entered. It was Brittany, his wife. There was no one who could have come in like that.
“And why is that?” Brittany replied him with a question.
“Because you are more of a late comer than I am” he turned around and pulled her close. He rained her face with kisses.
“I am not here to make out, please” she pulled away from him. She looked unhappy. There seemed to be something bothering her.
“You know what I found very painful. I don’t have enough time to spend with you” Mayor Mount tried to lighten her heavy heart.
“Like you really wanted to spend more time with us?” she asked sarcastically. She was definitely calling her husband a liar.
“There is nothing more desirable for a man than to spend time with his beautiful wife and his lovely daughter but duty calls and the man must obey” he bowed slightly like he was trying to show respect to her but it was done to amuse her.
“And before the first term finish, the man was already running for another term in the duty deterring him from having his most desirable moment” she ignored his funny act and spoke what seemed to be bothering her.
Mayor Mount had his mouth agape. He wanted to say something but he couldn’t say anything. He stared at his wife while meditating on what to say.“Doing what the people want. The people which you are also one of them” he finally found his tongue.
“Anyway, the principal is here” she narrated her main reason for coming into the room.
“The principal?” Mayor Mount asked with surprise. He was not expecting any principal.
“The principal of Tracy's school”
“Did you ask him to come?” Mayor Mount still didn’t understand why the principal should visit.
“He found a specialist and the specialist said he needs to see you” Brittany explained patiently. It seemed she was expecting a denial from her husband and was ready for it.
“Everybody need to see the mayor?” he muttered to himself. “Brit, you can just attend to them. You know very much that I have no time for unscheduled meetings. I should be in the community center within an hour”
“He requested to see you. And this is a matter of choosing between your daughter and a day of your campaign” Brittany walked out without listening to what he had to say.
Mayor Mount knew his wife so well. Not succumbing right now would only lead to lots of disagreements. He decided to meet this annoying specialist.
He joined them in the living room. The principal sat beside a man apparently younger than him. That must be the specialist. The principal and the specialist stood up as they saw him coming.
“Sit down, please” he said politely with a rude voice. He was obviously angry. He wouldn’t be here if not for his wife.
“This is the….” The principal was trying to introduce the specialist before being cut short.
“I am the therapist working with your daughter” the specialist interrupted the principal.
“I thought you are a therapist” Mayor Mount asked angrily. He was building up anger to vent on the specialist.
“I am a specialist therapist, sir” the specialist quickly replied nervously. He must have noticed Mayor Mount’s impatience.
“Why did you want to see me?” Mayor Mount asked impatiently again.
“I…”
“It must be something reasonable” Mayor Mount interrupted him before he could say a word. Brittany rubbed his hand on his husband's back. It seemed she was trying to calm him.
“Since I have been working on your,I’m sorry, attending to your daughter. I noticed something” the specialist shook as he was speaking. He paused for a while before continuing.
“She was so unintelligent beyond imagination. Very dumb to be your daughter with the position you are holding” the specialist seemed to have lost control. He was freely and wildly.
The principal scoffed to keep him in check but he didn’t realize that. He went on and on.
“She has dyscaculia, dyslexia, dyschemistry, dys-scientia…..” he counted on his finger to list.
“I’m sorry, Mayor. I don’t think I’ve ever heard those words before and I have never seen him like this. I’m sorry, once again” the principal interrupted to apologize on his behalf.
The specialist who had not seen anything wrong with the situation turned to the principal.
“If you spend much time with her and realize the level of her dumbness. You will need to invent word to describe her” the specialist struggled to free his mouth from the principal hand holding it tightly together.
“Just tell him why we are here, the solution please. Will you do that?” the principal begged him. He released him after he had nodded in agreement.
“You see what you dragged me into” Mayor Mount blamed her wife.
“I’m sorry he spoke a little too much, sir” the principal apologized again.
“So when I realized it wasn’t natural. The only solution will be using the cause to proffer a solution. She became that due to external influence likely from a best friend who could influence others. So we have to find her a best friend that can influence her in a way that we want” the specialist made his point. He looked around at everyone one after the other.
“It’s not necessary though. I am talking about an applause” he whispered to the principal. The principal ogled him and sighed.
“She have friends that are very brilliant. How come she had not been influenced all this days” Mayor Mount doubted his theory. The only way he saw the specialist was just someone that got lucky to be a therapist selected for his daughter.
“Not just any friend. A friend that can influence” the specialist defended himself.
“So how do we find that?” Brittany spoke for the first time. She seemed to like what the specialist had said.
“I have researched and found one living here in Newland. She is very suitable. No crime record. No unwanted pregnancies. What I liked most about her is no disturbance recorded during high school. Her name is Grace Brunt which rhymes with your daughter who is Trace Mount. Don’t worry I know it is Tracy. But there is something you might not like about her” he spoke without caring if they listen or not.
“And what’s that?” Brittany asked impatiently. She was very much interested to know about it.
“Not something that bad. She lives with her boyfriend” the specialist brought out a piece of paper. He seemed to be reading from it.“Is that all?” Brittany asked like that did not sound like a big deal to her.“They are not married. Lots of premarital sex” the specialist checked the piece of paper. He moaned weakly before reading that out. He must have made a list in there previously.“How's that a problem?” Brittany was definitely not bothered by all that.“And they can not be classified as a bourgeoisie. They are not even in the middle class” he read from the paper again.“ That still didn’t sound like a problem” Brittany seemed ready to hear all what he had to read.“It is a problem. She might introduce Tracy to some unhealthy foods” the specialist folded back the piece of paper and pocketed. He opened a file he brought with him.“She d
Todd waited in front of the orphanage. He was waiting for Mr. Cypher. He had made a lot of findings about his schedules before making the decision of meeting him here. The children's home would be the best place to seek hisopponent. Definitely, he would be dying to find a way around that.Lately, all his efforts have been proving abortive. Todd felt he could use him. Talking someone like that into funding him would be very easy, a piece of cake. Before Todd would have started doubting if Mr. Cypher would show up. His convoy of cars arrived. Todd checked his wristwatch. Mr. Cypher was a bit late.Todd moved closer to the car. He could not get much closer to his car as he wanted due to the heavy security details that were all over the place. He stood aloof. He would just need to be patience.Mr. Cypher's voice was audible as one of the security officers opened his car door. He was reprimanding his aide loudly.“I have spent much than for this not to work
“What if the client get a death sentence?” Raymond asked Stan at work. After they left the bar where they met the jail breaker the other day, lots of questions had been popping in his head. He just want everything answered. If he was pleased, he might consider the offer.Stan didn’t say anything. He quirked a smile. He looked away like he didn’t hear the question, but it was obvious he heard him“There’s no answer for that” Raymond said sadly in disappointment. He needed an answer badly and fast because there were more questions to come. A lot of questions in stock for when he would be at work. Now at work, the man he hoped would provide him with answer seemed not ready to answer his questions. He was downcast.“I thought you were not interested. The way you kept acting reluctantly and unconcerned yesterday. I don’t expect you to come asking questions today” Stan replied him. That didn’t sound like the
Raymond was nervous as he sat on the comfortable couch in Mayor Mount living room. Grace cringed at his sidebe Mayor Mount's personal assistant. What Raymond found hard to understand was how his girlfriend felt about everything that was happening. He couldn’t tell if she was happy or not.Brittany came to join them. She asked some of their countless maids that seemed to be in every corner of the house to bring them juice. The juice was good for a juice and very chilled. It was those kind of juice you could use to express your love to your spouse. The expression would be reciprocated and likely turn out to be an unforgettable experience.Raymond and Grace kept exchanging glances as they drank. Raymond knew she definitely want to be touched in a way that could lead to an intense make-out.That couldn’t be done here, she should understand. They would save it till when they were back at home.Brittany broke the silence immediately as
Grace had woken up very early. She was enthusiastic. She had called Brittany and gave her words. She would do it. She claimed it wasn't for the money but she felt connected to Tracy who seemed helpless to her. Anyway, she would take the money because there was no one who wouldn't take it.Raymond watched her as she prepared with zeal. It seemed he couldn't understand how Grace became so serious and felt she needed to be dutiful to the mayor's family, some people she just met not long ago.Grace dressed very formally, she should. She would be in the midst of students and teachers. She thought how awkward it would be today. It would be like babysitting shy Tracy. Tracy did not seem like a kind of girl who had a lot of friends. Finally she was ready to leave. Reyes would come to pick her. Brittany had promised."Going back to middle school?" Raymond spilled seeing her ready. He must have found it hard to take in."Not as a student, t
Three weeks later, Todd and Mr Cypher's aide, Karl, sat in a van parked right in front of Newland elite group of schools. A girl who was a student of the school was with them. She laid on her back. Todd filled a syringe with some solution. He gauged it and injected the girl. He took another syringe filled it and injected her again."What is your name?" Todd asked the girl slowly. The girl's eyes glowed like she was in rage. She groaned painfully."Mint" she responded without blinking her glowing eyes."Mint, you will go to this class and hug the teacher in front of that class" Todd handed a piece of paper to the girl. "Right now" he added.Todd opened the door of the van. The girl got down and walked hurriedly into the school." So,what's all this" Karl who had just been watching broke the silence. Todd ignored him and arranged the area where the girl had left."I thought you ears were working when Mr. Cypher said I
Raymond had gotten home a while ago. He expected to meet Grace at home but she wasn't. He waited with the hope that she would arrive soon.It had almost been an hour and she was still to come. Raymond became worried. He made a call to her cell phone. It rang for some time and went to a voicemail."Hi, this is Grace, you wanna talk to me. And you are not Ray, say whatever you have to say after the beep, but if this is Ray. Don't say anything. That is a warning" Grace's voice narrated on the phone speaker. A beep followed.Raymond smiled. He dropped the call. He waited again to no avail. Grace used to always have his phone on her. Something must have happened. He made a call to Brittany. It also went to her voicemail."Is Grace with you, I have called but I couldn't get through. I am very worried, please" Raymond talked to the voicemail. He was really missing Grace but whatever it was that had happened, he believed he had to remain calm.
Todd came into one of the the living room in Mr. Cypher's mansion. Mr. Cypher was already waiting for him. He welcomed him with a smile.Todd was surprised to see him that way. Mr. Cypher seldom smile. This seemed to be the first time Todd would see him like this. Todd walked towards him.He had called Todd earlier to visit him. Todd was a little bit afraid at that time. But the way he looked right now. Everything would be good"Would you believe I was waiting for the time I will have an opportunity to put bullet in your brain?" Mr. Cypher poured a glass of wine and handed it over to Todd.Todd took it from him. He hesitated to drink. He was shocked by Mr. Cypher's statement.Mr. Cypher poured another glass for himself. He was about drinking when he suddenly stopped. He started at Todd. It seemed he just noticed Todd had frozen."Don't you know how to celebrate a win?" he smirked at him. He must have known the reason behind
"You should feel better now" Raymond put the cup back on the table smiling."You mean the wine is good?" Grace asked, she was pretending she didn't know what he was talking about."No. Not the wine. I am talking about the daughter of the city" he had opened up straight, she wouldn't have a chance of turning his words around anymore."She's good, but her judgement is somehow different from mine" she complained a bit."Two different people can't do the same thing same way. There will always be a slight difference" he explained."I have nothing against her but I'm just thinking operating like this. The Mayour won't be able to back her" she was right about that."She doesn't want it too. And this evil people give more respect to harsh treatment like such" he added."I'm sure we are not here to talk about the daughter of the city" she was becoming boring with their conversation. She stared at her cup weirdly. They had come out to a
The computers pinged as Grace had said. Laura had been waiting for some time to hear that. She couldn't believe it at first. The pinging was not that loud but it was noticeable. She dashed over to the ammunition side and picked up the sword. She started feeling weird. She felt like she couldn't do this anymore. She stood there in front of the weapon. She wanted to take more than just a sword. But it would be useless to take what she wouldn't use. The computer pinged again. Time was going. She wanted to go but she was very much in need of a little push.Maybe she could just make a call to Grace. She would be helpful. They had become something like best friends. She hurried to get her and make the call. Time was no longer on her side. The call took like eternity to get connected, maybe that was because she was calling from an underground."Laura?" Grace said excitedly. There was nothing funny about this. It was damn serious but she had
Protocols were now being duly observed. Raymond and his accompanies were not allowed in until Reyes came out to them.He waved at them to come over."I'm sorry for the delay. Everything has changed since the attempt on the Mayor's life" he apologized as they walked over to him. They all walked together into the living room to meet Mayor Mount where he was comfortably seated."Raymond, Grace" he smiled to welcome them."And you, your face looks familiar" he pointed at Laura.Raymond was a little bit afraid. He wished Mayor Mount had not remembered when she tried to kill him."We met at their base" Laura said slowly."Yeah, I remember. You are that little girl that was in their base. You know I forgot what you were doing there that day" Mayor Mount seemed to have really forgotten. He was visibly trying to recollect."Actually, we are here because of her" Grace broke in suddenly. She was going straight to the point.
Raymond was coming down the stairs. He saw as Grace kept changing the TV channels. She seemed not to find the one suitable for her present mood.He skimmed down to join. He sat by her side without saying anything. She obviously had a lot running through her mind but she was obviously not going to tell him anything except he incited words from her."Maybe TV isn't what you need right now" he grabbed the remote, took it from and gently placed it on the table."What do you think I need then?" she folded her arms. it seemed she was not pleased with that."A good company like me,that has always been working even when you are stuck on the Millionaire Island" he joked.Grace smiled subtly. She was not enjoying the moment as she wanted."What are you thinking about?" he asked."That's my problem. I don't just know where to channel my mind" she shook her head."You really need that before you could channel the TV" he chuckled. She
Raymond was seated by the side of the hospital bed with a newspaper in his hand He wasn't really reading it. He kept checking Grace If she had woken up from her deep sleep. She would wake soon. She had been slept for a long time. She opened her eyes slowly and closed them back immediately like the lights were hurting her eyes."Raymond" she whispered. "Are you there, is that you?" she asked with her eyes closed."Why don't you open your eyes and confirm?" he replied her casually."I'm just confused seeing that in your hand. A publication? Really?" she had not opened her eyes yet and she was already taunting him."Are you okay?" he leaned towards her and asked."I feel better" she moaned. She opened her eyes and sat up."No, no. You have to rest" he quickly retorted. He felt she should be down there on her back.Grace was just looking at him with surprise. She didn't yield to his yearning."I guess I am still alive" she l
"Are you okay?" Raymond asked Grace. lied down on the floor. He gasped. He was exhausted."I have never been better" she said despite all the obvious pain she was going through. She also laid on her back breathing slowly to relax. Hugh sat and rested his back against the wall. He was devastated. It was definitely his first time to kill a man.He was seriously having a conversation within himself. He was raising his hand up above his every now and then.Probably regretting what he had done or he was trying to encourage himself that he had to do it."They say that is how you feel after you have your first kill" Grace chuckled and pointed to Hugh."He will surely get over it" Raymond said assuringly. He was sure of that. Hugh was a person with some facets of a bad guy. It shouldn't be so hard for him."Which makes me remember, Ray. You never had a moment like this. You never felt bad after your first kill. You are not very human" Grace r
Jansen had already heard a series of gunshots inside the building. Not long later, another shots were fired. He wondered what was happening. These guests didn't look like people who could shoot except the city hunter and his guy. And these guns were actually the guns brought by him and his men.He could denote that easily from the sounds of the rounds. He wondered why Dray or Morton or both of them would have been shooting like that unless the situation called for it.He was in awe what the situation could be. He was also having negative thoughts maybe his mem had been overpowered and subdued. He had to do something rather than waiting for them here.He brought out his handgun and headed towards the room. He waited by the first room and listened attentively. It was very quiet. He moved over to the door of another room.He was still trying to catch a sound with his ears when he saw bullets casing right ahead. He walked slowly aiming his gun forward.
Raymond and Grace had gathered all the others in Susan's room. The guests were definitely expecting to see this device they claimed to have found."I don't think we need to show them the real thing" Raymond whispered to Grace. He had already seen the hungry looks on their faces. The hunger to see what the device looked like."Let's just show it to them, to boost their confidence and make them trust us" Grace assumed. She must be thinking the guests might get annoyed if they weren't allowed to see it."They will be on to us soon, if we spent more time here without giving them a feedback" Hugh complained. It seemed he was urging others to hurry them up in handing over the device. He had been staring hard at Raymond and Grace as they had been having mouth to ear conversation. That seemed to have stirred up his anger."I thought you brought us on the fact that you have found this thing?" Mrs Summers said in her old weak voice. She must ha
Raymond and Grace walked along the hallway after everyone had entered into different rooms.Raymond attempted opening a door at room but Grace stopped him immediately. He was stunned."Things like this are not kept inside rooms. Vaults are built to house them" she explained."These people are not looking for treasures and not gold bars. It is something, like a part of nuclear weapon as one of them told me" Raymond argued."No one keeps nuclear weapons in a room also. They are hidden underground in most cases" she was still determined she was right about her opinion."Underground like basement?" Raymond felt she was making sense with what she said."Yeah" she moaned."Then let's get to the basement then" he asserted and walked forward with fast paces and Grace following him. He stopped suddenly."We won't get there unless we are outside" he said in regret."They won't let us go out. And we have to get this thing before th
