"I saw the way the Mayor stared at you at the fundraising, that wasn't a pleasant face. What happened between you two?" he asked to initiate a conversation.
"Nothing ensued between us. You were there" she flashed her eyebrows. Raymond was not there the whole time and she knew that, she was just lying.
"You know the way you lie these days makes me afraid of you" Raymond said slowly. That was something that was causing great pain in him.
"The way I lie?" Grace asked and bursted out laughing. That wasn't a joke, of course. It wasn't even funny. Raymond couldn't understand her anymore.
"If there is a problem between both of you, it will be in your best interest to loop me in" he said slowly again. He was indeed sad. This was how it usually started when a relationship would fall apart. Grace didn't even care anymore about that.
