"They have seen us" Raymond whispered to Grace.
"Who are they?" she asked back whispering. She still didn't look very serious. She surely believed in herself very much.
"Of course, they are the Devil's men" he winced.
She was supposed to know that without asking.
They had to leave this place now before they would be boxed in. Raymond scanned around for a safe way to escape.
"And we, what are we? The God's men" she was still joking.
A loudspeaker crackled. It seemed the men wanted to make an announcement. They really came for them.
"You have been surrounded, come out now and give that bag and you will be allowed to live. You have ten minutes to decide" a man said with distorted voice on speaker.
Raymond peeped again. He saw the man talking. He had a megaphone in his hand.
"Ten minutes. that's too short" Raymond complained to Grace.
"I was thinking it was too long" she said with a grimace. "Ten minutes" she counted
"Yes. I'm on my way home right now" Mayor Mount was in the back seat of his limousine. He was speaking to Brittany and Tracy on phone."How's Reyes?" Brittany asked on the phone."Yeah, he was the one driving me right now. I think I should triple his salary" he chuckled."Hi Tracy" Reyes greeted from behind the steering wheels."She can't hear you. Just focus on the road" Mayor Mount corrected him after ending the call. He should not be distracted while driving.Reyes steered off the way suddenly. He balanced back on to the road not long after.Mayor Mount was thrown off his seat. He quickly get up and back to his seat."What's happening, Reyes?" he yelled at him. That wasn't good at all. He had been careless."Mayor,I think we are under attack. Stay low" Reyes was breathing heavily.Mayor Mount shifted the curtains to peep outside. There were some bikes trying to stop them."Stay low!" Reyes yelled at him.
Grace came in overwhelmed with depression. Raymond who had already prepared to hit her with his own finding once she entered couldn't anymore."What is it?" he rushed to meet her.Grace walked away from him without saying anything. She fell into a seat like she had collapsed.Raymond sat down in a chair directly opposite her. He didn't bother asking any questions again. He was sure she would speak up once she was ready to do so."Mayor Mount" Grace moaned finally. She was trying hard fighting within herself obviously to spit it out.Raymond wondered what could be so hard for her to say about Mayor Mount."Something happened to him" he was eager and was asking questions when he didn't want to."He's fine" Grace stood up and walked some steps away.Mayor Mount was fine. She was not supposed to be grieving this way if he was really fine."You can have some time alone if you really need it" Raymond packed the chemical
"The city hunter has shown us what we failed to understand because we see her as a helper. She is a killer, a cold blooded killer. We do not need anyone's help" Mayor Mount spoke before the press conference."She has started killing our children. We will not let this continue. We will make sure she was arrested and brought to justice for all what she has done" he took a brief pause. His face turned sour. He wanted to say something but it seemed the words were too big to utter."My heartfelt condolences to everyone who lost someone to the wicked act of this notorious city hunter. We will no more call her the city hunter. That will be like praising a criminal. She is a zombie" Mayor Mount took a deep breath."And zombie should not be allowed to exist within our society. Zombie kills, they are all about apocalypse. She wants to ruin us. We will ruin her before she ruins us. I urge everyone that ever comes across the zombie killer to inform the security opera
"Your mission today is very special and crucial" the Devil was silent for a long time after saying that.Laura stood before him, unmoved."The times you have been out, despite how I warned you about mistakes. You keep making it but this gives no room for mistake" he paused again."Do you understand?" he yelled suddenly.Laura was almost thrown off her feet. That was unexpected. She quickly gathered herself back together into a firm stance. She was breathing irregularly out of fear she just experienced."I can't believe this" the Devil chuckled."Where is your mind?" he put his hand below her chin and raised her head up. He looked straight into her eyes turning her head slightly.Laura was still breathing heavily. She was fed up of all this. She was ready to let go the position of this heiress that her father had been using to threaten her life. There were times she regretted being the Devil's daughter. Now was one
Raymond rushed out from the room. Grace had just screamed. A kind of painful scream, that could never be mistaken for a cry of joy.He found her watching something on her phone. He joined her. She was streaming live news. And there was nothing alarming what he was looking at."What is that, why were you shouting?" he asked her calmly with anger in him."Mayor Mount was attacked" she said shakily and handed him her phone. He didn't bother to look at the phone.Grace bent to lean on the computer table. She was breathing heavily."What happened to him?" he thought about the worst that could happen. There was nothing that could pose worse than his death."Is he dead?" he asked softly expecting to receive a shocking answer."No" Grace twirled her tongue. Then her state of mind was gradually turning to weirdness."He might be, very soon" she added when Raymond was about getting the belief that he couldn't be shocked by
Taylor rushed to meet Laura and Grace. He walked round them. He seemed very happy."Can you spot any differences. No. No" she stood between them putting each of his hands on their shoulders."This is perfect" he moved out to face them. He clapped obviously for himself. He looked back and must have wanted to say something to the Devil but he stopped and moved aside. The Devil was surely angry at what he had been doing. He had moved aside when he saw the look on the Devil's face."Why did you grace us with your presence, city huntress?" he said with a friendly welcoming tone."I am here to talk about your offer" she replied with a strict tone. A tone of business between two strangers. It wasn't sure she came here to accept the Devil's offer."And your fake city huntress. The killer" she moved forward closer to the Devil."Congratulations. Laura. You have made it to the end of your impersonation of her status" the Devil turned slightly t
"He wanted you" Grace broke the news to Raymond."For what?" it sounded funny to Raymond. He was not a fighter and the last time he had a conversation with one of them, Mr. Dallas. He was mocking him for his poor fighting skills."I can't fight" he laughed."He didn't even know who you are. But he was sure I know you or I can find you" Grace obviously didn't know what he needed him for."Mayor Mount did a good job in that" he remembered how Mayor Mount had ensured that he was untraceable after the incident at the elite school, and when he discovered that that the vaccine he invented turned Grace into the zombie fighter."What I learnt is that he is trying to poison the minds of all the inhabitants of this city. He said they would have no choice, the same way the men working for him have no choice" Grace must have tried to piece that together because there was no way he would have told her that."Dr. Jake was right. He said those who took it
Raymond and Grace were brought before the Devil. They were made to sit and were tied to a chair each."That task force is a joke and I was depending on them to force you to me" the Devil walked slowly round both if them."We are never going to work for you" Raymond yelled at him. "You should better kill us now, because there is nothing you can use as leverage on us" he whimpered."I don't need a leverage to make you do my wish" the Devil paused and rubbed his cheek, smiling like he was enjoying it."Had I known you are the man I have been looking for. This would have been months faster" he bent down in front of Raymond looking into his eyes."You want to see my soul, a devil can't see it" Raymond flashed his eyebrows."I don't need to see your soul,I don't need it. All I need is your brain and your body. All the other parts, I don't care" he rose up and walked over to Grace.Grace was just starting at him."It will be better for
"You should feel better now" Raymond put the cup back on the table smiling."You mean the wine is good?" Grace asked, she was pretending she didn't know what he was talking about."No. Not the wine. I am talking about the daughter of the city" he had opened up straight, she wouldn't have a chance of turning his words around anymore."She's good, but her judgement is somehow different from mine" she complained a bit."Two different people can't do the same thing same way. There will always be a slight difference" he explained."I have nothing against her but I'm just thinking operating like this. The Mayour won't be able to back her" she was right about that."She doesn't want it too. And this evil people give more respect to harsh treatment like such" he added."I'm sure we are not here to talk about the daughter of the city" she was becoming boring with their conversation. She stared at her cup weirdly. They had come out to a
The computers pinged as Grace had said. Laura had been waiting for some time to hear that. She couldn't believe it at first. The pinging was not that loud but it was noticeable. She dashed over to the ammunition side and picked up the sword. She started feeling weird. She felt like she couldn't do this anymore. She stood there in front of the weapon. She wanted to take more than just a sword. But it would be useless to take what she wouldn't use. The computer pinged again. Time was going. She wanted to go but she was very much in need of a little push.Maybe she could just make a call to Grace. She would be helpful. They had become something like best friends. She hurried to get her and make the call. Time was no longer on her side. The call took like eternity to get connected, maybe that was because she was calling from an underground."Laura?" Grace said excitedly. There was nothing funny about this. It was damn serious but she had
Protocols were now being duly observed. Raymond and his accompanies were not allowed in until Reyes came out to them.He waved at them to come over."I'm sorry for the delay. Everything has changed since the attempt on the Mayor's life" he apologized as they walked over to him. They all walked together into the living room to meet Mayor Mount where he was comfortably seated."Raymond, Grace" he smiled to welcome them."And you, your face looks familiar" he pointed at Laura.Raymond was a little bit afraid. He wished Mayor Mount had not remembered when she tried to kill him."We met at their base" Laura said slowly."Yeah, I remember. You are that little girl that was in their base. You know I forgot what you were doing there that day" Mayor Mount seemed to have really forgotten. He was visibly trying to recollect."Actually, we are here because of her" Grace broke in suddenly. She was going straight to the point.
Raymond was coming down the stairs. He saw as Grace kept changing the TV channels. She seemed not to find the one suitable for her present mood.He skimmed down to join. He sat by her side without saying anything. She obviously had a lot running through her mind but she was obviously not going to tell him anything except he incited words from her."Maybe TV isn't what you need right now" he grabbed the remote, took it from and gently placed it on the table."What do you think I need then?" she folded her arms. it seemed she was not pleased with that."A good company like me,that has always been working even when you are stuck on the Millionaire Island" he joked.Grace smiled subtly. She was not enjoying the moment as she wanted."What are you thinking about?" he asked."That's my problem. I don't just know where to channel my mind" she shook her head."You really need that before you could channel the TV" he chuckled. She
Raymond was seated by the side of the hospital bed with a newspaper in his hand He wasn't really reading it. He kept checking Grace If she had woken up from her deep sleep. She would wake soon. She had been slept for a long time. She opened her eyes slowly and closed them back immediately like the lights were hurting her eyes."Raymond" she whispered. "Are you there, is that you?" she asked with her eyes closed."Why don't you open your eyes and confirm?" he replied her casually."I'm just confused seeing that in your hand. A publication? Really?" she had not opened her eyes yet and she was already taunting him."Are you okay?" he leaned towards her and asked."I feel better" she moaned. She opened her eyes and sat up."No, no. You have to rest" he quickly retorted. He felt she should be down there on her back.Grace was just looking at him with surprise. She didn't yield to his yearning."I guess I am still alive" she l
"Are you okay?" Raymond asked Grace. lied down on the floor. He gasped. He was exhausted."I have never been better" she said despite all the obvious pain she was going through. She also laid on her back breathing slowly to relax. Hugh sat and rested his back against the wall. He was devastated. It was definitely his first time to kill a man.He was seriously having a conversation within himself. He was raising his hand up above his every now and then.Probably regretting what he had done or he was trying to encourage himself that he had to do it."They say that is how you feel after you have your first kill" Grace chuckled and pointed to Hugh."He will surely get over it" Raymond said assuringly. He was sure of that. Hugh was a person with some facets of a bad guy. It shouldn't be so hard for him."Which makes me remember, Ray. You never had a moment like this. You never felt bad after your first kill. You are not very human" Grace r
Jansen had already heard a series of gunshots inside the building. Not long later, another shots were fired. He wondered what was happening. These guests didn't look like people who could shoot except the city hunter and his guy. And these guns were actually the guns brought by him and his men.He could denote that easily from the sounds of the rounds. He wondered why Dray or Morton or both of them would have been shooting like that unless the situation called for it.He was in awe what the situation could be. He was also having negative thoughts maybe his mem had been overpowered and subdued. He had to do something rather than waiting for them here.He brought out his handgun and headed towards the room. He waited by the first room and listened attentively. It was very quiet. He moved over to the door of another room.He was still trying to catch a sound with his ears when he saw bullets casing right ahead. He walked slowly aiming his gun forward.
Raymond and Grace had gathered all the others in Susan's room. The guests were definitely expecting to see this device they claimed to have found."I don't think we need to show them the real thing" Raymond whispered to Grace. He had already seen the hungry looks on their faces. The hunger to see what the device looked like."Let's just show it to them, to boost their confidence and make them trust us" Grace assumed. She must be thinking the guests might get annoyed if they weren't allowed to see it."They will be on to us soon, if we spent more time here without giving them a feedback" Hugh complained. It seemed he was urging others to hurry them up in handing over the device. He had been staring hard at Raymond and Grace as they had been having mouth to ear conversation. That seemed to have stirred up his anger."I thought you brought us on the fact that you have found this thing?" Mrs Summers said in her old weak voice. She must ha
Raymond and Grace walked along the hallway after everyone had entered into different rooms.Raymond attempted opening a door at room but Grace stopped him immediately. He was stunned."Things like this are not kept inside rooms. Vaults are built to house them" she explained."These people are not looking for treasures and not gold bars. It is something, like a part of nuclear weapon as one of them told me" Raymond argued."No one keeps nuclear weapons in a room also. They are hidden underground in most cases" she was still determined she was right about her opinion."Underground like basement?" Raymond felt she was making sense with what she said."Yeah" she moaned."Then let's get to the basement then" he asserted and walked forward with fast paces and Grace following him. He stopped suddenly."We won't get there unless we are outside" he said in regret."They won't let us go out. And we have to get this thing before th
