What was the point of being appointed a leader when it was all just in saying?

After Father had appointed me the leader of the hunters and I had passed the test to determine if I was fit enough to be a leader, nothing had remained the same anymore. By saying so, it was not in gladness. I thought being appointed as a leader meant that the decisions and everything about the hunting group would be placed under my care. But no, Father had simply turned me into a leader only by mouth.

The Midnight Hunters group that was supposed to be mine was still ruled by the old man. Every time situations comes up that required the decision and action of the leader, Father would always step up, pushing me back into his shadows.

I had complained to the man severally. Each time I laid my complaints at his feet, all he said was that he was just helping me out so I wouldn't be overwhelmed.

"What overwhelming?" I scoffed to myself as I combed my hair in readiness for my outing.
