ALEXAKIS The moment I pulled up into the pack, Claire walked in looking very different from the spirited person who was eager to leave the pack this morning to visit her family. I winced as she dragged one foot after the other. I couldn't help but close my eyes to prevent myself from cursing her family. She strolled past Luna Lisa without as much as a single word. The action must have hurt the woman because she sighed."What is wrong with you?" I heard Luna Lisa ask the dull woman who still went on to ignore the woman. Luna Lisa wanted to go after her, but I rushed after the older woman and held her hand to signal to her that she didn't need to follow her. "But she is looking too dull to be left alone ro herself." She commented, looking very worried."Believe me when I say that it is that loneliness she needs right now. Let's leave her alone so she can get enough time to get over what happened and then become her usual jovial self," I told Luna Lisa. "Oh, okay." She said in an under
ALEXAKIS As I thought to do it, I asked Kieran to get the words across to the Elders that I would like an audience with them. The man got up and went to do as I instructed. Luna Lisa decided to leave me to my own devise as she felt that I was going to be busy. Busy it seemed to her, but I actually had nothing I was doing. The meeting I scheduled would not be immediate. It would take the Elders at least an hour to group in the meeting hall, so I still had some free time on my hands. I tried to tell her that, but she insisted that I used the time to get some rest.I knew I wouldn't be able to get that rest she insinuated, so I just got up from where I sat and dragged my feet toward Claire's room. I didn't know if enough time had passed for her to ignore what her father did or if she was still living in the rejection. But all I knew was that I needed to talk to her, especially since the decision I was about to make was one that could affect both of us in the future. So, before I would l
EVIE"What the hell was taking this man too long to get back to me?"It's been more than two weeks since I first met Nathaniel, the man who claimed to be Alex's brother. And he had even promised to assist me if I released the hunters to him, and I had agreed. But since then, I had been waiting for news from the man -news that never came. I didn't know if I should still be feeling relieved about the whole thing or if I should be worried. More than having to choose if I should be worried or if I should not be was the fact that I was so close to frustration. I felt so frustrated that I was sure that I was going to collapse if nothing was done to help my plight any time soon.Alex. My heart was yearning for the man. More than anyone or anything else in the world, he was the only one I wanted. I was so afraid that I would be late in getting to him and he would have already belonged to that woman called Claire. I couldn't afford to let that happen. Which was why I needed to see this Nathani
CLAIRE "Claire!" Someone shouted my name, startling me and almost making me drop the cup I was cleaning. I looked up and saw that it was one of our regular customers at the café. I smiled at him and watched as he smiled in return."Good morning," I said as a greeting. He waved the greeting away. I shrugged and continued with my cleaning. When the man refused to leave, I looked up again. "Is there something you need?" I asked him. He rolled his eyes at me."Why didn't you come to the cafe yesterday? I and some of the boys waited for you but we couldn't find you around." He lamented. I finished cleaning the cup I was holding and sighed. When the man said the boys, he wasn't talking about teenagers in this context. He was referring to his gang members, who were his hype men when it came to gossiping. They were all over 40, yet gossip was their middle name. They usually ask me about what was going on with Alex, his brother, the pack Elders, his mother, and the enthronement of the Alpha
ALEXAKIS I could sense it. It has only been one week, but I could feel it already. The woman who claimed that she would be fine with having nothing to do was already getting so bored with herself that she had already resorted to talking to herself whenever she was alone. Of course, she thought that no one knew about it all, but I did. That was the height of it all for me. If she could be so bored in just a week, how would she be able to cope with days of doing nothing? I was beginning to get worried for both her and her mental health especially. I wished there was a way I could help her get something to work for her. Maybe going over to the cafe to warn everyone off her. I would even tell them that if they wanted information so badly, they should come to me. I would be sure to tell them everything they wanted to hear. But then again. That would be disrespecting her wish. "Maybe I should help her get another job then?" I reasoned within myself. I shook my head again at that notion to
ALEXAKIS By the time I spent another two hours with these people, trying to figure out a way to clear this mess while making sure my pack didn't lose much and they also didn't lose out completely, I was spent. "Are we all good now?" I asked."Yes, Alpha." Everyone answered. It took all the will in me not to shout 'finally' with the way I was feeling so stressed out. Kieran, who was beside me, must have noticed how tired I was because he chuckled slightly when I sagged against the chair. I didn't want to waste any time before calling the meeting to an end -just in case they happened to think of another crisis for me to sort out. I got up from where I sat and watched as they all did the same. "In that case, thank you all for your time," I said. "This meeting has officially come to an end.""Yes, Alpha." They all bowed to me, and I sighed in relief. But just because the meeting was officially over didn't mean that I would be able to leave right away. I still had to mingle with the r
CLAIRE It was morning. The birds kept chirping, and the breeze blew softly, making everywhere cool. The sun glowed proudly in the clear, blue sky. White, fluffy clouds drifted across the sky, illuminating a cool aura around the burning sun. The dappled sun shone through the herbs in the garden, creating mysterious shadows. The hotness from the sun was gently blown on by the wind as it managed to sway the leaves of the trees about, giving fresh air around."Ha!" I roared as I got up from my crouching position, a small shovel in hand. After Alex told me about the garden, I couldn't wait until morning to do my best with it. Once the night cleared away for the new day to begin, I raced out of the mansion. By the time I got to the garden, the sun was not yet out. Only the water from the morning dew decorated the edges of each leaf. I didn't mind that and started my work. Now, it was almost midday -if the way the rose high in the sky was any indication- and I was finally done with weeding
ALEXAKIS It has been a few days since I gifted Claire her laptop back. It wasn't easy to get the item back from her friend's house as I had to stalk the house and wait for the woman to leave for her job. After she left, the brother stayed around and was almost acting like he wouldn't leave in a million years anymore. Of course, I could have gotten her a new one, but I felt like she might have some pretty important things stored on her former one. From the way she reacted when she found the laptop, I could tell that it was more appreciated than a new one would ever be. From the moment she booted the thing and saw it was what she needed, she had stayed stuck with the laptop. While I was happy that the woman was finally having something nice to do, I was also sad that I barely saw her anymore. Again, it pleased my heart that she didn't have to sit around, idle all day long because she couldn't figure out a way to kill boredom. A small part of me was sad that she didn't have my time an
