Chapter 2. Fear

Looking at those weak pained eyes, he finally brought the little girl back to the palace.

The nanny didn't see him all day, but in the evening saw him bring back a little girl covered in injuries, the nanny curiously asked: "Who is this girl?"

He did not answer, he first carried the little girl into the room, laid it on the bed, then replied in a low voice: "I don't know."

He looked at the little girl once and then continued: "I found it in the forest, I was seriously injured, had a high fever, and was delirious. She wiped her body with warm water and then rubbed her wound with medicine."

After saying that, he left, leaving the nanny standing still looking at the poor girl lying on the bed. She thought to herself, he was so cold, to save this little girl, what a rare thing.

She was getting ready to work when Lily, her niece, happily ran into the room and asked: "Grandma, I heard that Mr. Jake is back, right?"

She smiled gently, patting her granddaughter's head. She knew that Lily had been particularly fond of Jake since childhood, running all day looking for Jake, even though Jake had never noticed her. Growing up, that feeling did not disappear but deepened. Lily loves Jake deeply, many times expressing love but always being coldly rejected by Jake.

The nanny knew that Jake was a cold person who couldn't smile, nor was he emotional. In Jake's eyes only revenge, and because of revenge, Jake becomes crueler than ever.

She repeatedly advised Lily to give up this love and find a better person. But Lily did not listen to her advice, stubbornly sticking to Jake and not leaving.

When Lily did not hesitate to say, love, Jake's face showed no emotion, Jake only considered Lily as his dead sister. In this love story, Lily looks like a self-made clown laughing to herself.

The nanny said: "He's already back in his room."

After hearing this, Lily hurriedly ran away.

The nanny called after Lily: "Wait!"

Lily stopped running, turned around, and asked: "What's wrong?"

"Why do you torment yourself like that?"

Lily firmly replied: "I volunteered, I will never regret it."

She continued to gently advise: "Listen to me, don't step into this mud yourself."

Lily smiled confidently: "You'll see. I'll make him fall in love with me."

Saying that, without waiting for her grandmother to answer, Lily quickly ran away from the corner.

She whispered sadly: "You're thinking too simply."

The little girl was cleaned by her grandmother. Meanwhile, the little girl still hadn't woken up once. The nanny had to put small spoonfuls of water into her dry cracked lips.

At midnight, the girl suddenly had a high fever, her forehead was covered with sweat, and constantly struggled to say: "Dad...mom...save me."

The nanny had to stay up all night to watch the little girl. The little girl held her hand very tightly, afraid that if she let go, the warmth from her hand would disappear. So she could only stay by her side.

She fell asleep, early the next morning, when she opened her eyes, she saw that the little girl had woken up. The little girl stared fearfully at her grandmother, then looked around the unfamiliar room again.

The nanny asked gently: "Are you hungry?"

The little girl did not answer her question, parted her dry lips, and asked her hoarsely back: "Who are you? Where is this place?"

"Do you remember why you were in the woods?"

Recalling what happened in the forest, the little girl was scared and replied: "I was attacked by a wild boar."

She patted and comforted: "Don't be afraid. It's very safe here."

The little girl nodded and asked in a low voice: "You saved me, didn't you? Thank you, Grandma."

She shook her head: "I'm just the one to take care of you, it was Mr. Jake who saved you."

"Who is Mr. Jake? Can I meet to thank you for saving me?"

"Mr. Jake is the owner of this place. He's probably gone now. When he comes back in the evening, I'll take you to see him."

The little girl politely nodded: "Yes. Thank you very much."

"I forgot to ask your name. What's your name?"

The girl smiled innocently, revealing dimples: "My name is Amy. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you, too. You must be very hungry.  Wait for me, I will cook porridge for you to eat."

After the nanny went out, Amy lay down on the bed, remembering sadly about yesterday.

It was all Amy's fault because she didn't listen to her parents. The day before going to school, the teacher said that there are many animals of different species in the forest. So she was curious to skip school and go to the forest alone.

What she didn't expect was that she was suddenly attacked by a wild boar. After being attacked, she was injured lying motionless, her body aching, her breathing interrupted. At that moment she was very scared, she cried until she was exhausted.

Looking at the darkening sky, now that she has not come home, her parents will probably be very worried, going everywhere looking for her.

The darker it gets, the thinner the hope that someone will find her will be. As she faced her impending death, she thought, would she ever die in the forest? Is there any chance that after she dies, animals will eat her body? If that's the case, my parents will be very sad.

She closed her eyes desperately. Just then she heard footsteps in the distance.  She thought it was the footsteps of wild animals. She quickly closed her eyes, held her breath, and pretended to be dead.

Footsteps came closer and closer. She shivered, holding her breath, surprised that the footsteps were still walking past her and had no intention of stopping.

She opened her eyes slightly, realizing that the person walking was a man. She breathed a sigh of relief, hurriedly moving her feet to step on the dry leaves that made a sound, to get the person's attention.
