“He just hung up on us…” I whispered, staring up at Joseph. “How could he not even listen to what we were saying? How could he accuse me of lying?”

“I think Penny might have done something to him,” Joseph said without hesitation. “Maybe a spell or something…”

“She’s not a witch though,” I said, shaking my head at the thought. “She wouldn’t even be able to get into the house if she was. My mother put a spell on the house that only witches from her bloodline could enter.”

“Then, Penny got a hold of magic or something,” Joseph said, trying to come up with any excuse to back up my claim.

“You believe me,” I whispered; it wasn’t a question but he looked at me funny and then tightened his hold around my body.
