Tessa’s POVThe drive back to the city was long and exhausting. It felt weird returning without Ruby, and it felt even weirder knowing that the vampire council knew exactly where I was. Joseph had told me that I could trust them, but I wasn’t so sure. It was hard to believe that a group of elite vampires could be trusted after everything I had been through. If they could really be trusted, wouldn’t they have stopped Ryan from doing what he had done? I’m assuming they knew exactly where all their vampires were and what they were up to. So, where has this council been this whole time?
Tessa’s POV“Are you almost packed?” Joseph asked as he looked around my bedroom. We had gotten back into the city a few hours ago and we rested at his house until we went to my apartment. I wasn’t sure how long we would be gone for, but I knew we had to return at some point. We were only going to look at houses; we hadn’t actually bought anything yet.“Yes,” I answered, zipping my suitcase and pulling it off my bed.Joseph qu
Tessa’s POVMary Flanagan. The real estate agent Joseph had hired to show us around different houses in the city of New York. She was a middle-aged woman with kind blue eyes with small wrinkles around the edges when she smiled. Her blonde hair was tied up in a neatly done ponytail and she wore a pink blouse and a tight black skirt that made her look professional. The sun had just set when we met her at the small café just outside of the busy city. She already had her cappuccino in hand and was seated at an outdoor table, flipp
Tessa’s POVWe just bought a house!Well, technically Joseph bought the house, but still. We are going to be officially living together. Our move-in date is in a couple of days. Joseph finished signing the paperwork first thing in the morning and Mary brought us a couple of sets of keys. Now all we had to do was pack up our lives back home and move into the big city.My excitement was boiling over, but it was also bittersweet because I didn’t have my best friend here to celebrate it with me. This was supposed to be our dream; more than a
Tessa’s POVMy office was a bit smaller than the others, but I really didn’t need much space. It had a window that overlooked the city as well and it was a beautiful view. Like the other desks, mine was glass and it had a bulky computer set up already. There were a couple of filing cabinets that were completely empty and a couple of plain-looking chairs.Besides that, though, it wasn’t really fancy. But it was perfect. I could already imagine all the ways I could make this office mine. I was definitely going to bring my laptop and mostly work from that.
Tessa’s POVI couldn’t get to the phone fast enough. As soon as it was in my hand, I pressed the unmute button and put the phone to my cheek. I wasn’t sure why I was so nervous; my last talk with Ruby before she left for the academy was fine. She felt remorseful for trying to kill me and I didn’t hold it against her.She wasn’t mad at me for keeping this stuff from her, at least I don’t think she was. I knew she was a little hurt over the entire situation, but I couldn’t blame her for that either. I would have been hurt too if roles were reversed.
Tessa’s POVMy heart was so happy after talking to Ruby and knowing for certain that she and I were okay. I loved Joseph so much for making that happen and wanted to express that to him more.I lunged at him, jumping into his arms and he laughed as his arms wrapped protectively around me. My entire body warmed and melted against his when his lips met mine. I loved the way his lips felt against mine. He used his lips to part mine, and I soon felt his tongue entering my mouth, exploring me curiously and twirling against mine. I couldn’t seem to get enough of him. I wanted to be as close to him as possible. But most importantly, I wanted to make him feel just as good as he makes me feel. I was the one who broke the kiss and started to kiss down the nape of his neck. He stilled at first, unsure of what was happening, but the smile on my lips as I kissed him made him relax and he ran his fingers down my back, making goosebumps attack my flesh.I helped him out of his shirt and per usual I
Tessa’s POV“Movers will be arriving tonight to grab our things, so we should probably head back early this morning,” Joseph said a few minutes after I had woken. The sun was still down, but I knew that it was early in the morning because he was fully awake and almost dressed. He was freshly out of the shower and completely shirtless. But he was wearing a pair of jeans that left no mystery of what lay underneath. My mouth watered at the sight of him and all I wanted was to pull him back into bed and have my sweet way with him.Beads of water dripped from his broad chest, making me want to lick it off him and my cheeks flushed at the very thought. Joseph corked an eyebrow and I saw a small smile on his lips as he walked closer to me.“Get dressed,” he said again, his tone softening until it was basically playful. “I mean it. I want to get there before they do, and we have a long drive ahead of us.”I sighed and fell back onto the bed. But I knew he was right; we had a lot to do. We alr
