Joseph’s POVI wanted to teleport to the coven house location, but Esmeralda said that we should be using as little magic as possible when we get there and when we get her out of there because they will be able to track us if we use magic in their territory. So, we drove. It took a few hours, but we finally reached the small town that Tessa’s father’s farm was in. I was surprised that the coven house was only a few minutes away from the farm. It was right under our noses the entire time.
Joseph’s POVAs soon as my arms wrapped around her, it was like a dam had broken inside of her. All the fears, the pain, the emotions she had felt throughout these last couple of weeks came pouring out of her.Tessa sobbed in my arms, burying her face in my chest; her entire body shook as she cried and her hold on me tightened. I breathed her in, basking in her scent and allowing it to calm my wound-up body. I was still in shock that she was in my arms again.I buried my face in the nape of her neck, breathing her in.
Joseph’s POVEverything happened so quickly.I heard the gun going off and at the same time everything went white, and the explosion sounded around the house.I quickly got to the ground, unsure if I was hit or not. I heard screaming coming from the floor above us and then I heard the clinking of the gun dropping to the hardwood floors. Everything went silent momentarily as my vision cleared but I could smell the smoke. Not knowing where it was coming from, I tr
Tessa’s POVJoseph looked just as confused as I was. His eyes never left my father’s, and my father was staring wide-eyed at Esmeralda, his mouth agape. She didn’t look as surprised to see him though. She stood off to the side of Joseph with her arms folded across her chest.“We need to talk, Rick,” she said to him, her lips pressed in a thin line. Before he could say anything in return, I stepped out of the car next, much to Joseph’s dismay. Joseph snapped me a look that told me he didn’t want me to leave t
Tessa’s POV“What was that?” I asked, panic rising in me.“He’s here. We don’t have time,” Esmeralda said, jumping to her feet. “Rick, you need to listen to me,” she said firmly, staring at my father who was still looking at me with wide eyes as if I had just grown another head right in front of his eyes. “Rick!” She growled through her teeth, drawing his attention.“What?” He asked, breathlessly.
Tessa’s POVMy heart was racing rapidly against my ribcage and my entire body was trembling as we sat back on the couch in my father’s living room. My mind was whirling from what had happened and I didn’t have the strength to speak. My father said he remembered stuff from the past and I was terrified about what he was going to say. I wasn’t sure I could handle any more bombshells; I was emotionally and physically exhausted and I found myself leaning against Joseph for support.Literally.
Joseph’s POVMany years ago. The basement of the Vamp House was never used. I was aware there was a dungeon, but it was typically only used for the worst of vampire rogues who invade our territory intending to cause harm. We hadn’t had many of those in the past several years so there was no need to use the dungeon.Elder Benji had never brought me into the basement, so for him to ask to speak to me downstairs brought me a bit of worry.Benjamine
Tessa’s POVMy mouth hung open from Joseph’s tale as he recalled all that had happened when he found my mother in the basement of the vamp house.Everybody went silent. Even my father stared at him in complete and utter shock. My mother trusted him.His words fell short, and I knew it was hard for him to continue. I touched his hand, squeezing it tightly while brushing my shoulder against his. My touch always seemed to calm him and now wasn’t any dif
